Kyran Kyran was exploring... He had never really been anywhere till recently that wasn't a rocky mountain top, though those in their own way had beauty. But the place he now found himself was green and lush, well some parts were, even in the cold of winter. He smiled at a fur tree that had doggedly clung to its needles despite the harsh winter winds. Turning he felt one of the said cold blasts ruffle the mix of feathers and furr that covred a big portion of him. Having puffed up under his armour chest plate he was warm even in this cold, which was nothing compared to the mountaintop in winter that he had left. Smiling he resumed walking, looking over some of the trees that had surendered to the cold, the baer branches rattling seeming to shiver. Taking his time, stepping lightly as he moves, feeling another cold wind buffer him. He didn't mind, he felt warm and content in his fluff, the long hair on his lionlike tail shifting and fluttering in the wind. Not sure where he wa sheaded but he did so smiling. Crown Crown was on duty... well, if you could count this as duty. It was freezing, he had his wings wrapped around him in some sort of strange embrace in the hopes of preseving some of his precious heat. The winter looked so different from the summer time, and his light coloured pelt seemed out of place among the cold and harsh dark colours of the branches. He felt strangely vunderable.... Maion had been trying to teach him to conseal himself, to listen and watch the direction of the wind so it could be used to his advantage... but it was a slow process, and to be honest Crown didn't know how something as thick as his leg could be expected to help conseal him. He trusted Maion though, so he continued to try..... It was quite here, he hadn't seen anything as he paced up and down on the perimetre. His duty was nearly over, soon Drashi would come to take over.... and Crown really didn't want to see the white pelted stallion right now. He always felt... inadaquet in comparison. Drashi just seemed to be good at everything, and the fact that he was in charge of Crown's training didn't even scratch the service of his mad skills. Crown's little ear wings fell to his head. Would he ever be good enough? Even Heze often seemed better than him at some things... and how could he be expected to truely teach her when he was still learning himself? His mind was so full of his own thoughts and worries that he nearly missed the flash of something..... he blinked and turned towards the source. Whatever it was gone... now wait.... there was a little light ball moving on the floor... what in the world was causing that? The hairs on Crown's neck ruffled as he expected the worst, his eyes scanning the area for something out of place while his ears listened closely for any thread of sound. ((Light ball = reflection from the armour))

Kyran Walking along he was not paying any attention to his surroundings, his father would have his hide for the casual strole he was taking in a strange place. He should be more alert, but he was enjoying exploring far too much. Pausing and snuffling at the base of a tree having spotted something, eyeing the cord attached to a peg and pulling the peg out. the clatter of something falling from the trees brnaches making him jump. Moving round the tree to look at the bits of wood that were now on the ground, eyeing the cord that held them together with a confused frown, not sure why someone would bind bits of wood together and suspend them in a tree, very puzzling. Nudging one of Eden's chimes with his nose, the wood had been secured a second way to stop it clanging in the high winds of winter. Looking at this thing puzzled, the peg still in the grip of his teeth. Crown Crown heard the call.... one of his sisters 'traps' had been triggered, and it told him exactly where the intrudor was. He had practised this with Eden, having her set some of on purpose so he could practise locating the sound... sometimes the sounds got distorded around the trees so it had taken a little getting used to. But now, as his hooves ate up the ground he knew exactly where he was going.... most didn't stay in the spot of the trap, either freaked out by the noise or aware of what it was and swiftly changing direction so they could try again.... one Kalona in particular seemed to be 'sniffing' around the herd lately, and Crown feared that he would turn out to be the weak link in the system should the beast face him. That didn't mean Crown wouldn't face him.... And deep down he was expecting the Kalona, which was probably why he was stunned when the figure and the fallen trap revealed themselves. The creature was like nothing he had ever seen, and with the face covered with a mask Crown found himself wondering what was being hidden..... from the bone structure he was guess male, but you could never been totally sure. The creature wasn't attacking, didn't even seem to be up to no good... simply curious about the trap that had been sprung. Well, this was a first for Crown. The herd allowed strangers to travel on their herd lands, the 'traps' were just incase.... especially after the attacks that had been happening, though they had thankfully died down a bit.... but Maion seemed worried. Ever since he returned as an elder he seemed to be expecting something bad to happen.... maybe he should ask? WAIT! Why was he thinking about this at a time like this....? Get your head in the game Crown, he scolded himself before approaching the curious stallion. "Welcome to the Miakoda herd lands." He said with a soft smile. He was never allowed to throw the first punch, but the moto echoed in his mind. Come in peace or leave in pieces.

Kyran Lifting his head as someone spoke to him, the oddness of the tied up wood forgotten for a moment, looking at the other stallion that seemed to be freezing his feathers off. The cold leaving him uneffected, another nasty stab of cold wind just rufflinf through his feathers and fluff. Smiling an impish grin, making him look like a foal up to some harmless mischief he placed the peg that he had been holding in his teeth next to the fallen trap, pressing it into the hard ground with a hoof so that it didn't get lost. Whatever the wood was and whoever put it there would probably want all the parts left so it could be fixed. Turning to face Crown, offering the same mischievious smile, his purple eyes sparkling with joy from his little exploration. "Hello, and thanks, I didn't ralise there were any herds about." Looking round not seeing signs of anyone else around, or any sign of a herd. Looking over the chilled stallion, appreciating the colours of his pelt and the patterns. Looking at his wings and the scarf on his neck, noting that neither were any real protection from the cold. Not bothering to ask he moved closer, pressing his side against the other stallion's side and wraping a laege eagle wing over him, trying to warm the blueish stallion up some at least. Presed close against Crown, Kyran smiled, his fangs, an inheritance from his grandfather snowing as he tried to warm the other up. Radiating heat from his fluff, rather liking being pressed close, tohugh usually he didn't get away with such overt actions, especially not with other stallions. Crown Crown simply nodded, despite the large size of the herd you didn't always realise they were around, especially since at this time they were all likely around the lake either talking, sharing a meal or just waking up. The herd simply ran on a different schedule to the average world. "Well, we are here." He said, sighing softly but not giving away any details of location or direction just incase it was a ploy to divuldge information and then use it against them, Crown simply could never forgive himself if his misguided chatter lead to someone getting hurt or worst killed. "We allow strangers to enter.... but...." Crown found himself interupted as a fluffy warmness pressed against his side. He gasped, and for a moment looked very much like a fish struggling for air.... what on earth was the stallion doing? Forcing himself free he moved away from the stallion, his actions showing his unsure mind, and the blush upon his cheeks probably betrayed far too much of his mind. "Em.... I.... ah.... well....." he flustered, his brain swirling with questions and ideas. And worst of all, was the voice shouting at him that that felt 'nice'. Perhaps it was because of Crown's recent awareness of his sexuality that was making him over react.... perhaps normally he wouldn't have seen the action as anything other than an act of kindness. Squeeze his eyes shut he lowered his head ashamed of himself...... "Sorry....." He took a breath, "But thank you for your kindness." In all the 'action' Crown had completely forgotten that he was going to quote the herd moto.

Kyran Kyran tilted his headm this was odd, so he quirked a brow. " I can see you are cold, your teeth are almost chattering." Sighing used to stallions avoiding him for flirting and being too intimate, yet he still did it, he could never explain it to anyone but he craved a closeness with those of his own gender. They usually didn't like it, and even though he would flirt with mares and stallions alike he longed to see a stallion look at him like some of the mares did. Shrugging. "No need to be sorry."Crown Ok, with him sounding so reasonable Crown was feeling even more stupid. Sighing he forced himself to look up again, and this time took in the strangers features fully for the first time.... the mask was red and gold with a black beak and what seemed to be bat wings on the side, and the chest plait looked heavy and matched the colours of the mark. It was a stunning piece of craftmanship.... made him wonder who had made it for him. His rump appeared to be bare, and look pretty much like a unicorn he supposed..... but the rest of him was super fluffy.... was he half sheep? Crown actually smiled at the image of this stallion chew on grass and baaing.... but realising that he was probably being rude he quickly changed the smile for a softer one of friendliness as he bowed softly and spoke; "My name is Crown Cullen." Lifting himself again he continued, "One of the protectors for my herd."

Kyran Blissfully igorant of Crown's thoughts another smile broke across Kyran's face. This one was a cheeky smile, he didn't seem to have any smiles that didn't promise some kind of trouble. "I'm Kyran... I'm just looking around, I'd not been anywhere but the mountains till recently. I was curious." Shrugging, his smile growing, as a little bit of flirtyness crept in. "So far I've liked what I've seen." Glancing over the markings on Crown before looking at him again eye to eye. Crown "Nice to meet you." Crown said while he listened to Kyran explain about coming from the mountains. It was the one place Crown had always wanted to go..... and here this stallion had done it. Would Crown ever be brave enough to go off an explore them on his own? Secretly he suspected the answer was no. When Kryan began flirting with Crown his blush deepened, if that was even possible. And for some reason he found himself saying, "Same." With a slightly awkward smile on his face.....he didn't know what he was thinking! So he turned away from the stallion and looked in the direction of the mountains, but then a thought struck him.... was it obvious that he liked stallions? Could it be this stallion was simply making fun of him? He felt foolish. Maybe Eden was wrong... what if he never did find someone, it wasn't like you could just go up and ask ever male 'Oh, do you like stallions or mares?' It just didn't work that way, and even if it was Crown would never have the courage to do so..... Eden had accepted him sure enough, but what about the rest of the herd? He knew he shouldn't feel that way, he couldn't help what he liked after all and he was pretty sure they would continue to embrace him all the same.... but Crown was new to all this.

Kyran Kyran watched him quietly, he flirted but he tried not to hurt anyone and right as Crown turned away from him he had the feeling that somehow he had hurt the stallion. Something about this made him feel more experienced than this stallion, even though he was almost positive he was younger. Sighing softly and moving up beside Crown again, not having a clue what he was thinking, he just seemed sad. "Look I didn't mean to hurt you... or offend you... I usually manage to offend more than I hurt.... But your attractive, and I'm sorry if what I said made you feel bad... I was jsut trying to let you know that I thought you looked good...." His voice soft, he wasn't used to geeling bad for flirting, but then usuall he either got threatened or flirted back with... Or run away from, that had happened too... He had never hurt anyone before. Crown "Its not you..." Crown said, his words coming from his heart rather than his concious thinking mind. "...but thank you... again." He sighed and dared to look at the stallion beside him. Part of him wanted to ask why the stallion thought he 'looked good' but he supposed that was simply a compliment he gave to everyone, his brother often told him he looked good..... of course that was usually followed by 'so go get yourself laid' and that just annoyed Crown. He wasn't interested in just getting 'laid' as his brother so beautiful put it..... no... Crown wanted so much more than that for himself. He smiled, realising he was probably being silly, overthinking everything and stuff.... he knew he had a habit of doing that. But what could he say? He suspected nothing would 'heal' the gap that was so obviously looming between himself and this 'Kyran'. Deciding to try and be brave... and to show some respect and curtisy as would be expected of him from his mother, he found himself asking; "Would you like me to show you around a little?" Crown wouldn't have been offended if Kryan said no, he wouldn't want to make the stallion feel worst than he obviously already did.

Kyran Kyrans face lit up again as he saw Crown smile and noded approvingly. "Much better, a smile suits you best." Giving a cheeky wink before turning, looking around, pondering the question. Springing round with a foal like enthusuasm afterwards and grinning. "Hey how bout we make a deal? If you show mw around this woodsy lowlands of yours, I'll take you round my mountains..... when its warmer..."His eyes running over Crown again, still thinking he looked cold, his wings clencing, finding that he wanted to snuggles the stallion into his warm fluff again and warm him up. Blushing a little as he derails that thought, pretty sure being snuggled up to was not what Crown would want. Crown Crown's eyes found the floor at the compliment but he didn't shrug it off or mock it, simply took it for the compliment it was. Crown couldn't hide his surprise and enthusiam as the 'deal', maybe he was transparant.... he had always thought he was so much more secretative, he suspected that most who watched him as he seen him secretly eyeing the stallions at the courting fields, never once venture to talk to a single creature..... always watching life rather than participating in it. Yet.... a trip to the mountains? Well, Crown liked that idea... perhaps today would be the first day to a braver him! "Deal." He said, not taking too much time to think about it in fear he would talk himself out of it. Sure he didn't know the stallion really but maybe the walk would change that, and if he didn't get on with him he could always say no later..... the soft smile on his lips was a genuine shine from his very soul. His wings were still wrapped around himself, and as the Kryan looked at him he found himself remembering the 'cuddle' he had been given when they first met. His blush roared again, curse his light pelt.... it revealed everything. Perhaps it would be mistaken as wind burn? "This forest has many names," He found himself saying as he forced himself into action before he changed his mind as he walked towards Kyran. "We call it the Whispering Moon," Or at least they did in training, "maybe that was actually a code name rather than an actual name?" He didn't know but he liked the sound of it, and it was strangely fitting given how the wind whirled through the tree making it appear as if the trees whispered to one another.

Kyran Nodding Kyran grinned back at Crown, the dazzling smile giving him a funny melty nausious feeling in his stomach. He was also cringing a little, he looked so cold that his steeth had started to ache. "Gah I can't take it!..." Soon as Crown was near him he moved and pressed closer, wrapping him in a warm wing and fluff again. Giving a little huff as he listened to the forest, the whisper more of a wail and a hiss at that moment with the cold wind. "I don't think its a codename, but who knows... Maybe if it had a name it chose itself it would be 'place of winding paths' or something." Grinning at Crown amused at the idea of a place naming itself. Crown Crown was taken aback again as the Kryan pulled him to his side again, he had to admit it was far warmer here than on his own, but part of Crown didn't want to accept it..... for it would only be colder when it was gone. Still, he didn't push it away this time, taking it merely as an act of kindness. "When the Moon is full the ground seems to sparkle..... " He knew it was because of the properties of the things in the soil, and had even be made to spend a whole night collecting them for one of Chandra's pain medications. Crown was unsure of himself.... what did he do now.... walk and hope the stallion followed or dislodge the warmth that he was secretly enjoying? Instead he found himself saying, "You're really fluffy." He cursed himself slightly as he said it.... what had gotten into him? He was usually far more composed than this!

Kyran Kyran laughed at the observations and grinned at Crown. "Yeah my brother and I were doomed ot be fluff monsters, tohugh we aren't quite as fluffy as our father... Bit given how mum is fluffy too... there was no avoiding it." While he spoke he was looking at the ground at his feet, trying to see any sparle, even though it wasn't night time yet, he might be a flirt and somewhat of a raskal but he was trusting and goldenhearted under it all... Crown "Ah....." He nodded softly, "My parents are anything but fluffy." He smiled thinking about his parents, "Though I suppose my mother has a lot of hair, her little wings don't allow her to keep much warmth.... my father is pretty much like me, except with much bigger wings." He wasn't sure why he was sharing this but it felt strangely natural. He sighed softly thinking about his siblings. He then found a chuckle escaping him, coupled with the words; "Well at least you don't get cold." It wasn't usually this cold down here, but at the moment even the lake had frozen over.... and without a mate of his own he often found himself sleeping in bushes or curled up next to his parent to try and preserve a sliver of heat.... pathetic ha?

Kyran Nodding he listened still smiling, wishing he could wrap Crown up in his fluff so he was all warm too. "Yeah... a good thing in the mountains, here the trees offer a little shelter, but theres nothing up there to keep you from feeling the cold in winter. I'll take you up there when its warmer, maybe spring or summer . It wont be hot but you should be able to cope with it better." Cringing after a moment thinking he might be sounding like he thought Cown weak, but he wasn't, tohugh it was better not to try and clean up something like that as it always sounded fake. Sighing, as he felt Crown start to warm a little, their shared heat and all the fluff helping it seemed. "My mum grew up down here somewhere..." Looking round, not sure why he offered that random information, but it had come out all the same. Crown "Ah..... my herd guardian came from the Mountains. My mother.... well she doesn't speak of where she is from, but I suspect not the mountains." He smiled imaging his fragile mother living on a mountain side... perhaps she did for a time, but for protection rather than wanting to? He didn't know. Crown did feel warmer, and it was because of that that he suddenly felt a little awkward... ok, so he was actually enjoying just talking and sharing heat but he couldn't continue to use that as an excuse when he was warm now could he? It was for that reason he found himself starting to walk. "We don't live in the forest." He found himself saying, though he never mentioned the lake since that was an obvious target from the sky... though he suspected it would be obvious that in the day a herd load of colourful and dark pelted creatures slept? Why had they never been targeted? He didn't know but he knew better than to question it. He indicated with his head, "That way leads to the..." He blushed before the words even left his lips, "Courting fields" He hadn't been intending to go this way, but with the warming embrace and the way they were faced side by side it was the way that had been the most natural to walk straight towards.

Kyran Kyran looked faintly surprised but nodded at the news of the herd gardian. He couldn't really comment on Crown's mother, though he was curious why she kept it secret about where she came from. He walked along still holding Crown close, though he could easily be broken away from. Glancing from the direction of the courting fields towards Crown, seeing him blush, smiling impishly again. "Ah I see lets avoid there then lest your lover find you in the wings of another." Not specifying a gender unlike most usually did, but then Kyran preferred his own gender so why couldn't others have that quirk? Besides it was boring and predictable to assume everyone liked the same thing, so he gave Crown the benifit of the doubt abot what he liked or didn't. Crown "Lover..." He snorted, he wished. "But yeah.... probably best to avoid there, though I suspect it is pretty much dead now. It gets busy in the spring when most of the foals are born." Ok, so he was rambling again, something he did when he was nervous... but why in the world was he nervous? Oh yeah, because there was an attractive stallion walking side by side with him, who just happened to be trying to keep him warm and had definatly been flirting with him... and ok, so Crown actually liked him. Great. This was a recipe for disaster. Closing his eyes for a moment he tried to figure out what would be the best thing to do. "Em..... so the forest is..... vast." Ok, so that sucked.

Kyran Kyran just noded smiling, listening intently to what Crown was saying, smiling at him where some might have laughed. He had actually been somewhat lost in the forest for a while now.... So vast to him was an understatement, especially as he had not paid attention to it as he had flown over and down from the mountains. Hah well he mentally shrugged off his chastisement, he had a guise now, and a handsom one at that, so even if the view of the trees got boring he could oogle Crown, he would just have to make sure that he wasn't too obvious, he wouldn't want to chase him off. That thought making him blink, wondering why he didn't want Crown chased off, he was used to stallions threatening him and leaving because of the flirting he might do with them. It hurt but he took it in stride, his mother had told him to accept himself as he was, that she loved him no matter what and so he did. It was others that had trouble accepting him. Crown "Well, there is a little...." Crown wasn't sure for the right word, "Secret field?" He blinked, laughing at himself, "Anyway, it hidden among the trees, I used to go there as a kid to copy all the moves I had watched the protectors do while training." Ok, so that probably revealed more than he had wanted but it was too late he had spoken. Since Kryan had been so silent Crown found himself a little concerned, he turned to look at him. "You ok?" Crown may be new to the whole acceptance of 'I like men' thing, but he was a nice guy deep down, and would rather see himself hurt than someone else... even this stranger.

Kyran Nodding and still smiling he looked at Crown. "Yeah was just thinking that I should have been looking at the forest when I flew over, then I might have had a clue what way was which when I got into it.... As it is I lost sight of anything but trees and got lost." Blushing a little himself and giving his head a little shake as though trying to shake off his embarassment, Looking at Crown then with a twinkle in his eye. "But I met you so getting lose was definately worth it."Crown Something about the way Kyran looked at him make his heart skip a beat..... Part of him wanted to say something like 'I'm glad you got lost' or 'Worth it here too' but he didn't, that would just make it too obvious that he liked men, and he still hadn't decided if the stallion beside him was just teasing him or actually interested..... gah! Why was it so hard? He was clueless at all of this. Crown looked to the sky, as an idea occured to him. It was rare that anyone got to walk in the central hub of the herd, since Maion didn't like strangers getting too close to his family, but from the air.... well that was different. The question, could he trust this stallion? It may sound silly but he found himself expressing that exact question. "Can I trust you?" He looked at Kryan, seriousness etching his expression as he waited for a reaction, despite the blush on his cheeks from their banter Crown couldn't risk missing the others reaction to his question.

Kyran Kyran looked at Crown, considering the question with some gravity. "I could say that can you ever really trust anyone, but yes you can... I have never meant anyone any harm, if theres something you don't wan't me to speak of to others then just tell me and I will do my best to lock it away where no other could find it." It always seemed so easy to say... sure trust me... but the look Crown had given him had dragged the truth from him, you could only lean if someone was trust worthy by trusting them, but he believed he could be trusted. Though he had no idea what he was being trusted or not trusted with. Crown Crown thought about it for a moment.... then decided that sometimes you needed to take a risk, he supposed you could never really stop anyone from seeking out their location if they really tried... and maybe a small secret part of him wanted Kryan to be able to find him again? Though he wasn't sure why there would ever be a next time. As he settled in with the idea that this was actually going to happen he grinned wide, he loved the skies, and looked the magical sight of the iced over lake. Stepping away from Kryan enough so he could spread his wings wide he said with a michievious glint in his eyes. "Come on then.... we haven't got all day." He chuckled playfully, not actually caring at all how long they spent together despite being tired and just finishing a shift. He didn't stand around but instead shot off the ground and through the canopy above. It was cold, but strangely warmer up here... if only a little, or maybe that was just the memory of Kryan's fluffiness. He feared he would spend many an eve remembering that.....
