...Man, she was bored.
The fact that Eva had been somewhat bedridden recently (thanks to all those injuries, arggg) did not help alleviate the fact that there was nothing to do around here. Since she hadn't even been able to go out and train as she normally would have, the young woman found that the days passed even slowly than she was used to. She went through all the books that she had brought with her from home within a couple of days, and now...
...Now she was seriously left with nothing else to do.
However, Eva did hear an interesting piece of information from one of her friends--apparently more trainees had been woken up! She half wondered if the fact that so many of them were injured had anything to do with this--after all, Caelius had called them disposible--but she didn't dwell on it for long. Instead, she began to push her covers aside, steadying herself against a wall as she limped towards her closet. She couldn't just sit here forever and wait to recover, and going out and meeting some of the new trainees--Lambs, right?--seemed like the perfect excuse.
It took some time and effort, but finally, Eva was dressed. As she moved towards the door and out into the hallway, a grin began to spread over her lips. Surely there was at least one cool new trainee that she could hang with in this new batch, right? She certainly hoped so!

Ofelia was wondering if there was an attic in the building. All places had attics, right? Well technically she was inside a building and not a house so that sort of ruled out her hopes of finding something interesting up in a roof somewhere. Her inner desire to explore was itching like a really bad rash on the bottoms of her feet and the palms of her hands, and soon Ofelia was wandering about the dorm room common hall like a bug skittering from point A to point B. Something should have been ready and waiting to catch her attention, right? This whole place couldn't be a club that only had cool things some of the time right?
It's not a club.
Shut up, this is so a club. Ofelia raised the bracelet on her wrist to the level of her eyes, looking at it as though her glare could mean something. The jacket she had tied about her waist was staring to slip off and fell with a plop to the ground, Ofelia not even noticing as she kept on her walking march.

The hallways were surprisingly quiet, especially since there was usually someone hanging out here. Is everyone training or in their rooms? Eva wondered, the corners of her lips tugging downwards in a faint frown. As she limped her way down the hall, she glanced this way and that, looking for any sign of life--ah!
Her eyes lit up slightly as she noticed someone walking up ahead. From the back, she couldn't tell who it was, but--oops, there went their jacket! When it became clear that the other girl hadn't noticed, Eva cupped her hands around her mouth and called out, "Hey! I think you lost something there!"
Making her way forward as fast as someone with an injured leg could, Eva finally realized why it was that she had been unable to recognize the other. As she drew closer, it dawned on her that this young woman must have been one of the newly awakened trainees--one of the Lambs. Her smile immediately spread into a grin and, stopping a few feet away from her (partly because she was starting to get tired of limping forward), Eva lifted a hand and beamed.
"Hey there! You're new here, aren't you? I'm Eva Valente."

Ofelia paused and looked from left to right, knowing that the voice had to come from outside her head this time. Rue had been screaming obscenities at her for the better part of the past hour due to Ofelia throwing the charm bracelet across the room in an effort to slam dunk into the garbage can, so it was a relief to hear a noise that wasn't an angry weapon woman. Ofelia always wondered if Rue was in a constant state of PMS.
Die in a fire already.
Newp. Ofelia turned around thought at the call and was pleased to indeed see that she was being hailed by a person and they'd been kind enough to mention she'd dropped her Jacket. How it'd slid off her waist without her even knowing was a ~mystery~ (Rue said it was because she was retarded), and the teen hurried back over to lift it up and retie it. "Ah thank ya very much fer that. Ah guess Ah'm not payin' near as much attention as Ah should be ta stuff if Ah can have mah jacket fall off me like that."
As I said - Ofelia plowed on, overriding Rue's voice with the lyrics to a really bad pop song.
"Also, yah Ah'm new here, one of the so called 'lambs' people keep goin' on an' on 'bout. Mah name's Ofelia, but yer welcome ta call me Ofie. The snotty voice in mah ear an' the bracelet on mah wrist is known as Rue. She says she hates women an' therefore wishes fer ya ta go away an' die."
. . . . .
Wut? Yer not gonna deny it?
Not really, you just said what I was thinking without me even having to think it to you. Good to know that some of my influence had made it into the space between your ears. Ofelia ignored much of that and extended her hand out towards Eva, making sure to get closer so this new person didn't have to hobble so much. It was apparent she was injured - making her yet another person Ofelia had seen around here in bandages and an ill state of health. Just what went on in this club that caused people to go blind and become crippled?
Whatever it was it certainly had her attention. "Anyway, it's nice ta meetcha."

..............Her weapon told her to go away and die?
Eva stared blankly at Ofie for a moment, blue eyes wide and head cocked to the side. Then, without warning, she suddenly began to laugh. "Sorry, Rue, doesn't work that way." On the topic of their partners, the young woman lifted a hand to tap at the bright, purple-stone hairclip that was keeping her bangs back. "This is Chara. Chara, got a greeting for Ofie and Rue?"
No.
..."Ah...ah ha, she's not very talkative. But anyways, yeah, it's nice to meet you!" The grin was back on her face as she took the offered hand, giving it a little shake. "So, how are you liking it around here so far?" The first few days for Eva had been both exciting and...well, kind of nerve-wracking. Especially that first mission of theirs, dear god--wading through a sea of corpses had been as fun as it sounded, which was not at all.
"There's not much to do here aside from train," Eva added, ever talkative, "Though it's kind of cool to walk around the Island and check out everything, if you haven't already. There are a couple of places that I haven't explored yet either."

Is she still talking? Why is she still talking? Hick, get up and walk away she can't catch you as cripple as she is. Rue was not pleased to be spoken back to in the manner that this brazen hussy was daring to speak back to her. Rue hadn't asked at all to speak with her so running her mouth was only getting the woman in the weapon's poor favors. Honestly.
"It's interestin' 'nough 'round here, Ah haven't really had time ta explore yet. Ah've mostly been sleepin' an' eatin' so Ah feel kinda like a mooch. Was gonna get up an' explore taday but gettin' horribly lost b'fore a mission or sommin' sounds like a bad idea." From what Ofelia could understand they were on an island called Deus Ex and something was going to happen to her very soon. The likelihood of that something being horrible was very high as well and so Ofelia sort of didn't want to do anything stupid to herself before then.
Whatever was coming she wanted to meet it heads on and in decent enough health. "What kinda places are there, ta explore that is? Ah wanna get to know this island like it's the back'a mah hand."

Chuckling, Eva waved a hand in a dismissive gesture. "Don't feel like a mooch--there seriously isn't much else to do here aside from eat, sleep, and train." And socialize, of course, which was probably the only thing that was actually keeping her sane. God knows what she would be like if she hadn't had her friends and the other trainees to talk to. "Besides, considering some of the missions you'll probably get sent on? You definitely deserve that sleep and that food."
Particularly because she probably wouldn't be getting much sleep or eating much food after certain missons.
Propping her hands up on her hips, she hummed thoughtfully at the question. "Where, you say? ...Well, there's the abandoned town for the one. There's also the beach, the lighthouse...If you want, I could show you around." There was a pause as Eva glanced down at herself, and then she looked back up, her grin a little sheepish, "I mean, I might be a little slower than usual, but I'll be able to keep up fine."
Ugh, seriously though, when was this injury going to heal? It would be bad if they were sent on a mission while she was in this state.

"....really? Ah'm excited ta get movin', Ah hate havin' ta sit 'round an' wait like this. Ah know there's gotta be sommin' out there fer me ta get mah hands on." Ofelia was somewhat listening to the options being presented, her mind running them over with detail and what they could possibly offer. A lighthouse sounded somewhat interesting, seeing as they always had cool spiral stairs to climb - though the condition of her companion would put a dampener on that - so what else was there?
Beaches....well, Ofelia had never seen the ocean in her life before so that was something to look into. Beaches and oceans were supposed to be the start of every romantic adventure out of the books she'd read though. . . being with a girl seemed to be a cramp on that too. Ugh. so that left. . . ?
"Let's hit up the abandoned town thingy. Ah'm curious ta see ruined buildin's." The lesser of three evils, as it was, and either way it sounded just as exciting as the other two if not a bit more manageable. In her mind she was sizing up the weight of her companion, eyes scanning Eva up and down, and as far as she was concerned if Eva started being unable to move a piggy-back ride could be in order. She didn't look that heavy and Ofelia was stronger than she appeared to be as well. "If ya get tired, lean on me. Ah'll carry ya along."

"Oh, you'll be thrust into the action soon enough," She assured her, grimacing, "Has anyone told you about the first ever mission that we Hatchlings had to go on? It was..." She couldn't even finish that sentence. Instead, the Death trainee trailed off with a little shudder. Honestly, that had probably been the worst mission yet.
Eva said nothing as Ofelia went through the possibilities, simply lifting her brows as she patiently waited for the other girl to come to a decision. Personally, though she had wandered about in all three places she had listed, she hadn't had a chance to explore the whole abandoned town. It was for that realize that a wide grin spread over the girl's face when Ofelia decided on the town.
"Awesome! And, you know, I've never actually explored the town much. Think we could find anything cool in those old buildings?" What kind of strange and awesome treasures were waiting to be found?! ...If any, but hey, it would kind of be like an exciting treasure hunt, right?!
(Yes, Eva was twenty years old. No, she didn't act like it).
Her grin morphed into a softer and appreciative smile at the offer, though she was quick to wave it off. "Nah, I don't want to burden you. I should be fine--for now, anyways--so let's get going, yeah? It's this way!" Leaving the support of the wall, Eva moved down the hall, limping towards the exit at...well, a decently quick pace for someone injured.

"Ah heard from Marcus that one of the missions nearly killed everyone, an' the second mission was just liftin' dead bodies or sommin'. Ah guess ta me both sound excitin' 'cause it beats jus' sittin' 'round?" She shrugged at her response, not really knowing what to say. Whatever was coming for her and the rest of the 'lambs' was the least of her concerns, even if she wanted to go on the adventure for it right now, but knowing what was going to happen was what she didn't care about. Not knowing made it that much sweeter.
As the offer for her help was lightly brushed off Ofelia shrugged again, the smile never faltering from her face. "Yer not a burden an' likely never will be. Ah never offer ta help someone unless Ah mean it wit' all mah bein', so when Ah say Ah'll carry ya, Ah mean Ah'll carry ya." She flexed her arms somewhat in a mock show of strength. "Comin' from the south tends ta put some serious muscle on a gal, even if it ain't showin' like it should. But yeah, let's get movin'."
The teen followed behind her new friend (?) like a puppy dog chasing an older one, practically oozing excitement from every inch of her being. What exactly would they find when they got there? Why was it even burned down and abandoned? She wanted to know.

Eva couldn't resist the urge to wrinkle her nose, giving a slight nod as Ofelia brought up the second mission. "Yeah. I mean...I suppose you're right in some ways--it's definitely more interesting than sitting around--but god, that was absolutely horrifying. If you could have felt or smelled those corp--ANYWAYS." Leeet's not talk about disgusting things, shall we? There were more important things focus on right now, like exploring!
Hoping that she wouldn't mind the chatter too much--walking such a long way in silence seemed boring--Eva dug through her mind for a good conversation starter as they head out towards the abandoned town. She didn't know much about Ofelia yet, so maybe some general questions? Or...
"If I may ask, what is Rue? I mean, her weapon type and what he used to be?" Having a weapon was one of the things that all the trainees could relate to, so it seemed like one of the safest--and still most interesting--conversation starters. With each second that ticked by, and each step they took, they also drew closer to their destination. They would know that they arrived once they stepped into the center square of the abandoned town.

"Er....Ah dunno what Rue used ta be, ta be honest wit' ya....if she had ta be sommin' at all. We're not really on speakin' terms wit' eachother an' that works jus' fine fer the two o'us." Ofelia shook her wrist as she lifted her arm up to show Eva her weapon. "In this sleepin' form or whatever she's a bracelet wit' some charms, but her real form - if that's what we call it - is some knuckle dusters. Ya know what those are?" Knuckle dusters were all kinda of illegal in pretty much everywhere, so her question was honest and wasn't meant to sound like she thought her companion was stupid. If it hadn't been for her love of mafia movies and bad street fighting movies there was a chance Ofelia would have never know either.
"Ah suppose ya could call her like....a close combat kinda thing? Considerin' ya gotta get close ta someone ta punch 'em, though Rue's got blades on her body." Was that even a body? hell, Ofelia didn't know. Was it really important to talk about a weapon so much? Also, what did she mean by 'what was and used to be' ? Weren't weapons just weapons? That made her head hurt. "What about yer Chara-person thingy?"

It was a good thing that Ofelia asked, because it just so happened that Eva didn't know what these "knuckle duster" things were. Eyes wide, she shook her head. "To be honest? No, I have no idea what these--uh--knuckle duster? What those weapons are." She could at least guess that they had something to do with...well, the hands, more specifically the knuckles.
The girl listened with interest to the details that she was being provided with, brows furrowed as she hummed thoughtfully. So it was something that one wore on their hand and punched with, then? There was a moment of thoughtful silence, and then she laughed, "Blades, huh? That sounds pretty painful! Definitely don't want to be caught in a serious battle against you." Eva grinned before instinctively lifting her hand towards her hairclip as Ofelia inquired about Chara.
"Chara? She's a bladed staff. Big crystal on one end, and a thin blade on the other." She gave the hairclip an affectionate pat before dropping her hand. "From what Chara remembers, she used to be a gorgon."

"Okay then, lemme show ya." Ofelia had managed to grasp, somewhat, the idea of how to show off her weapon. Basically she just shook her arm really hard, Rue cursed at her as loud and as hard as she could, and the knuckle dusters showed up on her hands. They essentially were two regular brass knuckles though in the case of Rue, they also had large blades sitting atop their center pieces. "Most of 'em dun have the blades an' such, Ah think Rue likes ta show off an' so she's got 'em. Ah've seen some that are all kinda docroated too with designs an' useless stuff. The main point of 'em is ta jus' punch an' hope fer the best." Ofelia squeezed her fingers into a tighter fist and turned her wrist a few times before Rue quickly disappeared. It was almost like the summoning had happened for only a moment, barely enough that if Eva hadn't been looking she'd have missed the form entirely.
When the talk turned to past life, Ofelia tried to prod Rue for something and got a massive 'go to hell' instead of an answer. "Uh, Rue ain't tellin' what she was if she was anythin'. She really, really hates me." Meh, not really a huge loss - Ofelia didn't think they needed to be best friends in order for her to use Rue to punch things in the face. At the very least Rue just needed to obey, if she was a tool to be used for that sort of thing, and the teen was going to say something else when they arrived in what looked to be a burned down section of a town. "Holy - what's all this then? The town thingy?"

That...that was one way to summon a weapon. Eva couldn't help but smile, but she tried to hide it behind her hand. Rue seemed like a bit of a temperamental weapon, but she found that their individual personalities were what made them special.
The girl learned forward to examine the weapon, though she was careful not to get too close. After all, those were some mighty sharp looking blades there. However, just as quickly as it was summoned, the weapon suddenly disappeared before she had a chance to even comment on it. Grinning, Eva drew back, "She seems like a pretty fierce weapon! I imagine you two will do well during the missions where we'll have to fight things." Rue looked like a weapon to be reckoned with, and Ofelia certainly didn't look like the type who had spent most of her life indoors, like Eva had.
She didn't seem particularly surprised that the other trainee's weapon refused to divulge any information about her past, lips quirking upwards in a wry smile. "Aah. Well, you guys are partners--things will probably change, I imagine!" Her voice was cheerful as she said this, but the happy smile on her face faltered slightly as they arrived at their destination. The last time she had been here, it had been night, so she hadn't gotten a good glimpse at the wreckage. But now that it was bright out...
The smile was back on her face as she jerked her head towards the town. "Want to explore?"
