Rue. Hey Rue. Ruuuuue, hey Rue.
Die in a fire already.
Ah would, cept there's no fire 'round here. Jus' this weird sparrin' dummy thingy.
Good for you, now leave me the hell alone. I've nothing to say to you.
Why are ya always so cold ta me?
I hate you.
Ofelia had decided to explore her new home because as far as she was concerned she needed to know every single inch of the place like it was the back of her own hand. She was supposed to be safe here and never need to worry about anything else but that sounded boring if she didn't know where exactly here was. All in all that meant she had to find every inch of the island and have it beneath her belt before the day was over, and somehow or another her wanderings had lead her to what looked like a field full of training dummies.
The young woman was delighted with this situation. Rue hated her life.

A very sullen looking Robert walked into the training room in hopes of getting out some of the aggression and frustration out, but as soon as he walked in, what he saw tensed him further. His shoulder muscles ripped as they tightened up, and he held his breath as he eyed the new trainees jacket quickly, before letting that breath out. Not Life, at least. He moved to take his jacket off, slipping Jezebel out of the coat and into his pants pocket. She was humming, incessantly, of all things - and it was starting to get on his nerves. She'd been more chatty, lately. He liked it better when she wasn't talking to him.
"Sorry to interrupt." Robert spoke quietly just to let the new girl know he was there, instead of surprising her with noise and possibly getting a slap for some unintentional creeping perversion.

Ofelia was busy poking a dummy with her finger to not even hear someone come in, and it wasn't until someone actually spoke to her that she knew she wasn't alone. His voice caused her to jump backwards, smacking into the dummy she'd been poking, and Ofelia turned to face this newcomer with her cheeks nearly as red as her hair. A nervous chuckle escaped her lips before turning into a cackle, and Ofelia shook her head as she sighed deeply. "Ah thank gawd, it's jus' 'nother person. Fer a second there Ah thought Ah was hearin' stuff again an' was gonna have ta call out the club bosses on bein' liars."
A friendly smile spread over the Sun Hunter's face as she took a few steps towards this newcomer, her eyes flicking towards his jacket and then back to him. She was new, almost brand-spanking new, so many of the different symbols were lost on her. Not...that it would have mattered because they were all in the same club together, right? "Wait...haven't Ah seen ya b'fore?" Had she?

Robert's eyebrow arched in surprise when he heard the accent, and it touched on memories long forgotten. "Well." He murmured thoughtfully. "No, no shadows here. You'll get enough of that on your first mission." As she came closer, he held his large hand out between them. "I'm Robert. The only time you might have seen me was at your Orientation, if you were looking hard enough. I don't think I was in the Lab when the new pods opened, so.. yeah. That's about it. What's your name, ma'am?"
He heard it creeping out in his voice, and bit his lip hard. Just because she hadn't lost her accent, didn't mean all of his vocal coaches work would go down the toilet over one little southerner. "Are you looking for some practice? People usually troll around in here hoping to find a sparring partner. Anything to keep us alive."
The smile on his face didn't seem sarcastic, just friendly, and very honest about what he was saying.

"Mah name's Ofelia but that sounds a bit too stuffy fer me, so mos' people jus' call me Ofie. Yer welcome ta call me whatever ya wanna call, Ah'll answer ya, an' Ah guess Ah didn' see ya there. Musta been a bit too preoccupied wit' wantin' ta get sommin' in mah stomah." She grinned widely and winked her right eye, then her left. Maybe it wasn't so much of a wink as it was her blinking wasn't in sync with one another. Maybe it had something to do with that ridiculously huge scar that was running down her or face or maybe she was awkwardly trying to flirt.
. . . it was the scar, honest. She took his hand none the less and shook it, the charm bracelet on her wrist jingling with the motion. "Oh, an' this here on mah wrist is man weapon, Ah guess. Are we supposed ta introduce our weapons ta people when we do ourselves, or does it not matter? Or is that what sparrin' is for?"
I swear to all that is holy in your mind if you do not properly introduce me to this fine specimen of a man I will scream in your ears all night long.
Ofelia decided to test this theory and keep on trucking. "So this place is a sparrin' place? Ah didn' think the club would let us punch on one 'nother."

"Ofie." Robert repeated, suddenly gaining back just a little bit of that wariness he'd walked in with. She.. sure was a talker. He hadn't meant to open the floodgates, but a few smacks with the batleth would probably shut her up. "I don't usually introduce my weapon," He heard the snicker in his head as he pulled a coin out of his pocket, flipped it up in the air, and caught it in the same hand. "But I suppose I can make an exception just this once."
He held the coin between his fingers, up to eye level. "Jezebel?" As he spoke, the little coin glowed, melted in his hands, and elongated into the elegant double bladed weapon he called Jazzy. "The young lady would like to meet you. Do be polite."
Robert felt Jezebel's pleasure, to his surprise, as she reveled in the menace hidden in his words. For once, she was kind of enjoying her time with him.
I can do polite. She whispered-hissed into his mind.
"I take it by your question, you don't get how our Fear Shields work, do you? These weapons are protecting us. For now. Go ahead, summon yours and I'll show you."

If it were humanly possible then Ofelia's jaw would have hit the ground the moment she watched this 'Jezebel' appear from what looked to be a coin, and the teen found herself nearly beside herself with giddy excitement. "T...." No, she didn't need to explain it, her face and her posture really showed that she was downright ready for this and that the club was just getting better and better with each passing moment. So. Damn. Cool.
Wait, no, she didn't have time to gawk, she needed to summon her weapon too. It...um...well, how would she even do that? All kinds of thoughts poured into her head, maybe she needed to say a magic word or something but just as suddenly as she was thinking there was a pop - and then Rue.
She was in the same form that Ofelia had first met her in, large and sharp knuckledusters that graced each hand. The teen flexed her fingers in the grips as she moved her arms at the elbow. The weight was just fine, not much heavier than carrying a bucket or a bag around.
Except I am neither a bag nor a bucket.
Ugh. Ofelia ignored Rue entirely and looked over at Robert. "Alright, what's next?" She punched her knuckles together, the spikes of Rue's frame striking themselves with a soft click. Perhaps knuckledusters were perfect for Ofelia if she actually knew how to spar.

Robert grinned as he watched her summon her weapon - for the first time, perhaps? That look of surprise on her face was precious, and told him volumes about how long she'd been at this whole Hunter business. Her question only reinforced just how.. virginal she was at it.
That was an inappropriate way to think about it, but this was Robert. Inappropriate was his middle name.
"Well, it's simple. You just.. hit me. You're gonna aim for my body, but there's a good chance I'm gonna block it with my blades, since it'll be your first shot. Either way, don't be scared. You're supposed to hit me - and our Fear shields keep us from actually getting hurt for a while."
His lips turned up in a lazy, charming smirk as he raised his batleth up in front of his body in a defensive position. "I promise."

Ofelia wasn't sure if he was taking her seriously or not (it didn't really matter anyway) and the girl grinned at his rather open 'come at me, bro' offer. She lowered her body and lunged forward, her arms spread out at an angle that would allow better movement. Her steps were quick, precise, and she gained close enough to Robert to swing at him.
It seemed as though she was either used to fighting or was getting lucky, but either way she threw in a good, solid strike.

Your first strike with a weapon was never meant to be your strongest. When Ofelia came at him and slammed into him, sending him reeling back a few steps, it worried Robert. Just a little bit.
"Well uh. Yeah. That's.. okay. For a new girl." He chuckled nervously, and swung his batleth over his head with one hand, trying to show off.
"Now let me show you-"
The batleth fell from his fingers, barely scratched against Ofelia's shoe, and clattered to the ground.
"-my butterfingers."

"!!!!" Ofelia had to jump back just in time to avoid getting stabbed entirely in the foot by Robert's dropped weapon, her steps sending her staggering a bit. She wasn't sure if Robert meant to do that at all since he seemed like he was being nice, so most of her brain assured her that he was going easy on her and wanted her to hit back hard.
She took a few steps and circled around his weapon, picking her pace up just in time to rotate her shoulder and bring down her left fist this time. Being ambidextrous really came in handy when it was time to punch the s**t out of things.

If anything, the new girl was certainly proving her worth. Robert winced as the weapon connected a second time - permanent or not, that damage still hurt, and it was a hard hit. Robert gave her a careless smirk, and picked up his weapon.
"You're good." He murmured, twirling his weapon in one hand again. This time, he didn't drop it.
A crouch, and Robert's body twisted fluidly, in a shameless ballet move that had him turning low and slicing his weapon across her belly, from right to left. When he straightened, his toes were pointed and his batleth was again in the defensive position. At least, with Ofelia, he didn't have to act like he was something other than himself. He really didn't care what she thought of him - and she certainly wasn't the type to start throwing the word f*****t around.

"Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow owwwww." It hurt, getting hit, and Ofelia staggered backwards to try and soak in the pain. For some reason it just stung like a b***h, there were no marks on her from where she'd been hit, but Ofelia wasn't taking much chances. She'd been in awe watching Robet attack and had paid for it with a strong hit, prompting her to take a step forward and sway on her feet.
There was no focus in her movements as she missed Robert entirely, her punch connecting with the air. Focus.

That was his only saving grace; he knew that watching him fight was distracting. And he used it - to as much of his advantage as possible.
"Okay, rookie. Tip #1 from your good friend Robert. Don't let anything distract you. Seriously." He was going to prove his point, and that meant stepping it up a notch. He rose up, lifting to stand on his toes, and one foot pushed him off as he started spinning. Around and around he went, dizzily swerving until finally his weapon slashed out at her, hitting the same spot as before for maximum effect.
When he stopped spinning, he stumbled a little, and laughed. On his lips was a toothy, silly grin. "Tip #2. Don't make yourself dizzy trying to give fighting lessons."
