xHey! So you've managed to stumble across this guild and into this forum. Now what am i here to do? No, this isn't a workshop. This is just to give advice and help guide people the way they want to go. Workshops will be done some other time and will be posted up later ;d. So yep :] ask away!
Oh btw, you'll have to obey all the rules of the guild, anodurr and yeah owo;; i don't know how much else i can post xP. But mmhm :] have fun! x

Minako Omizuki Oh, well, I'm an aspiring animator and one of the main things I need to learn is to BECOME THE CHARACTER so I can pitch it professionally! (and considering my best bet for what I want to do involves joining DISNEY, roflroflrofl...every little bit helps) I have a good friend called Toxic who is RPing with me and helping me grow closer to my characters, but I still have A LOT to learn! I look forward to RPing here and anywhere else a good story may lead me! ^ ^
sk8ing_cat though i think, as you rp more and more, you'll get the hang of doing it naturally and think in the person's style of thinking and their habits. x).
Minako Omizuki Yeah, I hope so! I have a lot of characters I want to get to know more and some charas that are NOT MINE I'd like to try my hand at (Tetra from Windwaker, Shiek from Ocarina of time, Samus Aran, Princess Peach, etc.) because I'd like to try to make animated movies of video games as well ^ ^
sk8ing_cat I think the best way for you to start/improve is to work on one character only, and you have to rp with other people that will respond to you. I find that throwing myself in a group of more advanced people = you can learn much off of them. So maybe you could try to write more than to write just about what everyone else is writing :]. If you want to improve, stick with one character only and delve your mind into that character. It could be another you, with some slightly different characteristics. Something you wish to be. And then once you're able to fully understand how to make the character come to life more and how to give it more traits that aren't your own, then you'll be ready to attack more than one character x3.
Minako Omizuki I just need a good group, is all. Taz is good, so id Golden and her sister Supah, but I need more than just three people XD. S'why I joined ^ ^ but some of my newer ones and ones I barely use (*cough* minor characters in my main story *cough) I need to perfect, because I kinda wanna use them again and again for their own thing, since al my characters are like my children or something xD;;;
sk8ing_cat owo i think it's not a matter of whether you're good or not, as much as you understand them fully. Each one should be able to interact with anyone and everyone. And they should tend to not interact with your characters, because then that would just suck D; after all....it would end up as if you're writing a story if that does happen...which in rps, that's not the way to go. XD. So you have your personality-alike character down ;O but are you able to fully expand it and give enough details to go into paragraphs? x3 and ohh ;O so taz wasn't the sister v.v ;;; LOLOL i fail xD;;. Hmm i haven't read your writing before, but yeah, if you aren't able to write paragraphs about one character yet, i think you should stay with that one owo. Or maybe switch it up. Play a character that you'll be familiar with, yet not as if they're YOU. owo and so you'll need to integrate yourself fully with them and then be able to write about their thoughts, the way they walk, their little actions that they do XD. It's like your animating, just all written down in words ;d.
Minako Omizuki ^ ^;; would you like to SEE my writing? I have some RP's I coulds show...but I haven't written anything for a while. Yeah, I fit those bills pretty well ^ ^ I could go on forever and always on Mina and the rest of my mains. Their backstory, family, how they are with the rest of the stories cast (every chara, even non-mains) etc. I do tend to have character interaction, mostly because even if they're from two different stories of mine a side story for that specific RP hits me like a stampede f bricks and I'm all like "good beginning heeeeree~" and plus, when I pitch, I pitch MY characters, so knowing how they interact with other charas is all well and dandy, but at the end of the day I should ALSO know how they get along on their own, thats why I start stories off like that or have a section where they do. Yeah Taz is the only one of her family here. x3 Yeah, I like Mina since my self-esteem is, I hope, healthy, but I agree: Characters who are least like me or least used should be RP'd. Thats why I'm here~! On that subject: anyone got an RP with a good story? Or know where I can post one? ; w ;

And so,... continuing from where we left off xD...
Sure! Though i can't guarantee that i'll read everything since i do need to get off soon and/or start my reply to an rp... i don't know why, i use an instead of a rp @_@ but yep :].
It's not so much as a backstory as much as it is a description of surroundings, things that are happening, and etc owo. Because the backstory would be more for the profile, unless you have a flashback or something. And after i view your writing, then i'll be able to see what point your at, and maybe guide you into another way of rping. I get a sense that you're doing more of story telling than rping.
Character interactions is good, except for when you're interacting your own characters too much, because then it's almost like a story and you're basically writing something that doesn't involve other people, which is not the point of rping, and so when people have more than one character, they tend to try and not involve the two too much together, unless for example, they are twins and are bound to overlap when they talk. But in that case, it's slightly different than two strangers just meeting.
And so, going back to the point of character interactions, there really is no point of joining an rp, if you're going to write something that involves only your characters.....and YOUR characters. The RP revolves around everyone's characters and so that's why when handling more than two characters, it's a bad idea to just mix them together. And AHA! You just said stories. Rping IS like stories.....but yet it's not. A story is something you write by yourself, but rping is something you do with others.
For characters, it's a good experience to try and do something that's outside of your normal comfort zone and test out if you're suited for them or not, for example, maybe take something you hate, and make your character love it. You need to be able to change your view and understand whatever you change your character into, and how they'll behave in a certain situation. It's like saying that you have to play bella from twilight and miley cirus or something. Their personalities and the way they talk all have to be different.
And thank you! I'm not trying to put you down or pick apart your writing or anything. But this is how i believe RPing should be done, otherwise, like you said, a story will become a story, and not RPing. :] hence why the two terms are different, yet interconnected <3.

^^ it tends to take a lot of effort to keep the rp alive XD;; and finding the right amount of people and finding people in general XP. which is why this guild was created; to improve the literacy of people and hopefully make them more dedicated. ;O. and have you looked through the tutorials? x3
So i'm just going to take the first post that you did in the greek one, which i'm assuming is the ingrid one? and i'll provide you an example of how you can improve the post even more ;O. Everything looked like it was peachy-keen as she walked through her green heaven. Yeah, I figure once I round up enough people (like maybe three or so to RP with me and Taz since I haven't asked supah or gold yet, but it'll be extremely literate, so eh...iono if thats their forte) I'll make it. Half the reason IS people.
And yes, Ingrid is my depression. XD Everytime I act sad or depressed its Ingrid showing up in my personality. x3
I'm also Rang Fang/Rin Fang= Vivar in the RP. Taz is Corday Sentinile and Lire, but Lira has yet to make her debut (and oh, what a debut it will be~!)

v.v;; <3 thaaank you ~ but i also have room for improvement (: ! and ;O mmhm. It's more of, when you put yourself into your character's shoes, then it ends up with you adding in your little habits, like how i write sometimes. I add in some phrases that i normally say, or think, since we're narrating the story. And so, depending on how we narrate, that's how they're perceived x3. ;O umm there were a few new tutorials added up yesterday :3 about posting and fluffing them up. Come to think about it oh okay. i mean, at a certain point, it's not really 'literacy' as much as how interesting + alive you can make the character seem. Not in the WHOA I'M A POOFY UNICORN sense but as in the subtle way you write and slowly bring them alive for people. The rp you join, is a world in itself and in this world, these characters live. We're merely bringing justice XD! Is a way you can think about it ;3. Like how you said with Ingrid. Only, it needs to turn the opposite way around sorta XD. You need to bring yourself into Ingrid >D and post XD.

;O oh sorry, i didn't look at the dates, i only looked at the writing, and i thought golden had said something about newbies, @_@ so i got confused XD;; and literate...... owo;; umm owo;; i don't know how you define literacy... but something i personally would call literate is something like this. i actually found that one today ;O, the literacy level of that is quite attractive *W* but mmhm owo;; actually, you could consider the 1.5k + posts on their way to adv. lit. But yeah. Adv. lit was something reserved for when writers gave you text walls. ^^;;
