Remi smiled up at the lady at the counter, her grin widening as she watched her lean down and open the door to the glass case that held all the sweets in the world and pulling out a simple blueberry scone. This was one of Remi's favorite places, besides the bakery a few miles down the road, and Remi had been spending more time here lately. The woman finished making her hot chocolate and came around the counter to deliver both to the short scent, smiling as the goods where handed off.
Sipping from her drink she skipped back to her seat picking up the book laying on her seat. Not surprisingly it was a cookbook. She smiled down at the cover and settled into the plush seat, leaning into it and taking her first bite of the scone. She could do this for hours.

Unfortunatly, fate- or rather a young dancer had other plans for the gingerbread girl.
Desdemona had been sitting with her older brother on the other side of the cafe for the latter part of the hour. He had been working on some music sheets, or something, and she had been coloring on drawings he'd given her. They had, at first, looked to nice to ruin with her childish scribbles, but he'd assured her that they were drawn for the express purpose of keeping her busy while he worked. That had settled any qualms the song girl had.
But as the time stretched on, coloring had gotten boring and her gaze had wandered. ...and locked onto a familiar face. Grinning, she told her brother she had seen a friend, slipped from their booth and wandered on over towards the redheaded girl. Sliding into the other scent-child's booth, she placed tan hands on the edges of the girl's book, grinning as she lowered it. "Hi! Remember me?"

Getting into the grit of her newest recipe she bites her lip and runs over what tweaks she could make when the words are suddenly replaced by a pretty face and very green eyes. Jumping slightly she suddenly beamed up at her. "Desde! I didn't know you were here!" Dropping the book into her lap a hand lifted and pushed some of her fluffy hair back behind her ear. "It's been so long since I've seen you! Like a reallllly long time." Looking the other girl over she cocked her head slightly still smiling brightly but lowering her voice as she glances around. "Where's your snakes? And did you come alone? You really shouldn't be alone right now...."

"Tango wouldn't let me bring them," The girl spoke, a frown marring her pretty face. "He doesn't think its a very good idea bringing them out to play in places like 'his' cafe." She leaned forward a bit, her elbows on the table as she did. "I think he's just afraid to be bitten, don't you?" She asked with a conspiratorial little wink before backing back up some.
As her back hit her seat, something else dawned on her. "Wait, why isn't it safe?" The young scent looked around the cafe. "If it isn't safe, why are you here alone?" Certainly, her older brother could protect her. ...couldn't he?

Frowning with her friend she nodded, reaching out for her cup of cocoa and taking a sip. Glad she had when she mentioned this was Tango's cafe. He came here too? Really? And she hadn't seen him? Shaking slightly she put it back down and giggled at her wink before nodding. "He doesn't seem to like snakes very much. I do though! After you let me hold that one I've been asking mom to let me get one!" Frowning she pouted a bit. "She doesn't like the idea very much, said we should get something fluffy. Promised when I was older then I could choose my own pet, she just doesn't understand how cool snakes are...."
Trailing off she blushed again at being rude. "I'm sorry about that. Oh just some rather.....nasty people have been hanging around the city." She tried to play it off with a wave of her hand like her mom does, before blinking at the girl. "Alone? I'm not alone Neena is..." Turning to find her current babysitter she frowns when the cat demon is no longer sitting in a chair across from the booth she was in. In fact it seemed as if once again she had abandoned the scent to take care of herself. "Neena WAS here."

"You should probably get a different type of snake though," Desdemona spoke, thoughtfully. "Mama says black mamba snakes are not usually so nice as Barbon and Whiskey are...Maybe we should show your mom them! I bet she'd change her mind then!"
As the ginger looked around for her companion, the tanned child did the same. She wasn't exactly sure what she was looking for, or if she knew what it was when she found it, but she looked all the same. "Neena? Who is Neena? Is that your mom?" She asked, not seeing a mom-like figure near the Holiday-scent.

Giggling she smiled at the girl "I wasn't thinking of getting a poisonous snake! Maybe a constrictor though~ like a boa constrictor! That'd be so cool~ but yeah could we show her your snakes? When she sees how good you take care of them and how nice they are she'll change her mind. She's just worried one will bite me."
Taking a bite out of her scone she chewed happily on the treat and nearly spewed her treat all over her friend at the very notion that Neena was actually her guardian. "Oh Neena's not my mom! She'd be a terrible mother! She's always leaving me places all by myself. I used to be so innocent it's surprising I didn't have anything bad happen to me while she was babysitting. No Neena's my mom's best friend. I call her Auntie Neena, she's a cat demon, apparently they're rare around here." Taking another sip she hummed in happiness, her eyes closing slightly.

"We'll show her, then! Snakes are so cool and friendly." The young girl truly believed it. She had not met a snake that hadn't been completely friendly to her. There was no reason to believe it might have been a draw to her scent, it was simply fact. Snakes were friendly docile creatures. "And you can even tell her that a good snake will keep you safe!"
A bit rudely, thanks to her childish state, Desdemona reached forward and stole a tiny bit of Remi's scone, popping it in her mouth and chewing happily. "A babysitter?" She chewed thoughtfully as she mulled over the thought. She'd never had one- unless you counted Tango. And he wasn't forced to watch her, he just refused to let her out on her own. From what she knew of his own childhood, he didn't have one either. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have gotten into so many fights as a boy.
...though it certainly seemed very cool to have a cat demon watching you. She'd certainly ask to see Neena later.
"I dont think she's a very good one if she's always leaving you alone. Oh! I know!" She cheered as she stood back up. "Lets go sit with Tango! He can babysit you too!"

Smiling brightly she nodded her head, more then happy to have the girl on her side though knowing there was no way she wouldn't have been. Desde loved snakes more then Remi loved cake it seemed, and Remi LOVED cake. Noticing her swipe a piece Remi's mouth dropped open slightly, and she stared at the other with bright eyes glinting in happiness her little hand quickly reaching forward and stealing her own piece before pushing the scone between them to show that she didn't mind sharing. "Yeah Aunt Neena lives with us for free so mom makes her take me out once in awhile to make up for it." Gently pushing the piece into her mouth she savored every little flavor that settled on her taste buds. Bakery items were too good.
Humming in agreement she leaned forward to grab her cup of cocoa that was almost gone now and nearly knocked it over while quickly swallowing down the remaining pieces of scone that were in her mouth. Tango? Tango was here? Flushing slightly she sat up and wiggled slightly in her seat. It was bad enough she learned this was a cafe he came to, but now he was here, and Desde wanted her to spend time with him. Reaching for her cup again she smiled shyly at the other girl. "I umm don't want to trouble him. He doesn't need to babysit me. Mom says I matured a little more since...." Trailing off she quickly takes a sip of her drink and smiles again. She didn't want to think about it right now. Not with Tango being right over there...."I just don't want to be any trouble to you two!"

"Makes sense," Desdemona nodded, going for sage like appearance as she delicately took another bite of the now-shared-scone. The child didn't see anything wrong about sharing the food. After all, last time she shared her brother and her snake with the girl. It was only fair to share a treat. Especially since she was offering to share her beloved brother again.
"I'm sure you have," The songstress child crooned out as she leaned against the table again, this time her hands by-passing the treat and reaching for Remi's own. "But my brother is oh so much fun to play with, don't you think so, Remi-dear?"
She let go of one hand and twisted her body backwards, pointing to the booth Tango was sitting at, flipping through papers. "He's right there. He could use some...company." Standing up the girl danced over to her friend's treat and promptly snatched it up in her hands. Without waiting for a response she sauntered her way over to her brother's table, certain the gingerbread scent would follow her. After all, Remi wasn't the only one who had matured in time. Desdemona had grown, too, and she had grown to realize, what exactly, that expression Remi wore when Tango was mentioned meant. And she was all too eager to explore it.

Remi wasn't normally scared of her friends in any way, but the croon caused a tiny shiver of nervousness to race up her spine and she eyed the snake girl with a hesitant look, her hand sweating slightly in the grip as she returned it for a short squeeze. Flushing even brighter she attempted to stammer out a reply that she felt was reasonable without agreeing or disagreeing to the fact that Tango was fun, though she would never think of playing with him. He was much older and probably didn't even like the same games she did. Really if she didn't know how amazing her best girl friend was she'd begin to worry about how silly she could be.
Sipping the last of her drink she gazed toward the booth and couldn't help the bright tint that hung on her cheeks. He didn't look that much different, the same cute guy she had seen at that club. She couldn't help but wonder if he still smelled just as wonderful as he did back then. "Oh but I'm not that good of company and I'm just a kid to him and Desde!" Interrupted from her nervous rambling she gazed with puppy dog eyes as her treat was stolen and whisked away toward the object of her little girl daydreams. That wasn't fair! Desde was supposed to be on her side!
Pouting slightly she quickly threw her hair behind her ears and made sure her gingerbread clip was secured in her hair before tossing the cup and following into the dangerous setup. She just couldn't help the sinking feeling that something embarrassing was going to happen and she would be the cause.

Desdemona's tinkling laugh was all Remi's pathetic protest was met with. It didnt take long for the Song-child to saunter her way to her brother's booth. Placing the gingerbread girl's treat down opposite of Tango, she twirled over to her brother wrapping her arm's around his neck. Wriggling against his arm a bit, she silently asked for his attention.
He gave it to her after a moment of scrawling on his note sheet in front of him. Emerald met emerald before the younger of the two leaned forward and placed a sweet kiss on the male's cheek. "Brother~" Desdemona simpered out as she let go of the Mango boy's neck and crawled into his lap. His arms came around her, if only for no other reason than to keep her from falling. She settled herself in quickly, contently. "Do you remember Remi?"
Tango thought about this for a moment. The name sounded familiar, but not one that he'd heard in some time. His gaze drifted from his sister as he thought, and his eyes landed on the young scent making her way shyly to him. The little girl with the star clips and the voice of someone twice her age. He knew who his sister was talking about, even before she opened her mouth again. "I found her again and invited her to sit with us! It's okay, right?"
Tango ignored his sister's question, offering a nod in the other girl's direction instead. "Gingerbread. Long time no see."

Not exactly sure how quickly she should follow she slowly watched Desde interact with her brother. Really must she be so affectionate toward him? Remi didn't get jealous of her friends but she couldn't help but gaze longingly at the easy interaction between them. She had kissed him too! Remi couldn't help but blush slightly at the thought. The only boy she'd ever kissed was Celyn way back when she had just emerged and she hadn't known any better. What was it like to kiss a boy, a mature one, even on the cheek?
Hearing her name she was snapped out of her thoughts and watched as suddenly too green eyes were on her. Oh this was going to be harder then she imagined..."H..hey T..tango. Sorry about interrupting you, Desde kinda made me come over. I didn't know you guys came here a lot." Blushing more she fiddled with her clip and came a bit closer, afraid that she was giving too much away by acting so nervous. She couldn't help it though. Ever since their last meeting she had allowed herself to wonder about him in a childish way she would never NEVER let anyone know about. At least now she was more concerned with being friends with Desde, she was such a good distraction from her feelings.
Casting a glance back at the two she finally realized his arms were wrapped around his sisters waist and a tiny green monster flickered in her eyes for a moment before disappearing. Ok Desde wasn't such a good distraction anymore.

Tango let an easy smirk come to his face as Remi stuttered. He motioned to the seat in front of the siblings, silently telling the girl to join them. "It's alright, calm down, Ginger." Tango almost chuckled at her nerves. Was she this nervous when they met? He couldn't remember. But it seemed hard to associate the note buster with this shy child now. Not that he'd tell her he thought she rocked her last song. Time might have passed, but he still didn't ******** do compliments.
Desdemona nodded, a feline-like purr coming from her as her expression promised trouble. "Yes, oh, dear Remi. You must join us~" She cooed, nestling back into her brother's chest. The young girl was always overly affectionate with her brother. Given that he didn't seem to care one way or the other, she just went with their relationship as she so desired. But now, now that Remi was giving off that delightful expression, she couldn't help but rub it in a bit. This was her brother. She was in his lap. ...Just how would Remi react?
"How have you been?" Tango asked, turning his attention back to his music sheets. He glanced up every now and then to show that Ginger still had his attention and that he was at least somewhat curious as to her answer. And somewhat curious was better than most people ever got from the apathetic boy.

Gladly jumping into the seat she wiggled a bit to make herself comfortable before reaching out and snatching a piece of her scone back and smiling happily at Desde before popping it into her mouth. It seemed sweeter now somehow. Swallowing quickly she semi pouted at her friend, glad that Tango's attention was on his music sheets. She would never be truly mad at the green eyed beauty but she was so doing this on purpose!
"Pretty good! I've met a whole lot of new people lately and me and mom have been baking nonstop!" Distracted from her earlier thoughts of envy she rambled a bit about some of their adventures in their kitchen. "If Neena wasn't there we would have had almost a thousand cupcakes too. I still don't know what she did with all of them......" Giggling slightly she tilted her head slightly in curiosity before leaning over the table a bit to get a good look at the music sheets. "Making a new song? Or just changing one that's already made?" She did that with recipes all the time, changing things and experimenting with them. One time she made a cookie as big as a cookie sheet! It had been so messy to eat but so much fun!
