The large white male was taking his time settling into the pride. It was an interesting adjustment. Living in a pride was something he had never done before and now he was getting used to it. He enjoyed being put to work on the other hand. He really enjoyed being able to hav something to do at almost all times. He enjoyed working and keeping busy. Surprisingly most of al he enjoyed being able to have company from time to time. But lately he hadn't found the company tht he enjoyed the most. He was thinking of the first female that he had run into when he first joined the pride. she was an interesting thing and caught his attention. He wasn't sure if all firekin females were like that but so far he hadn't run into another that was similar to her. But again he hadn't run into her since. He didn't mind but at the same time he was curious, well at least curious on getting to know her a little more.

This morning he found himself wandering around where the Archives were. He was curious about the history of the pride and because of that he found himself wandering around near here He thought the history of the pride was pretty interesting, well from what he was understanding from the drawings on the wall. He wondered who took the time to draw all of these out? They must have been smart to know all of this. He padded along near the sides of the walls, staring at them interestingly. He was having a hard time in a few spots understanding what was going on. He was enjoying what he was seeing it was interesting. He paused at a certain spot flopping down on his haunches and looking up in front of him. flicking his tail around behind him thinking as he did. All of this history about a pride that he didn't know.

Fia had spent a good part of the morning paired with Vesta, digging in the sand for moisture which seemed not to exist. Now, parched and tired, she was sauntering back to the stones to continue with the job that she'd put on the back burner since all this had started. She felt bad for neglecting them as she had, but in the end, their past was not as important as the present. Even she had to admit that. There was no point in recording a history that they may not even be around to repeat.

"I thought ssshe might have been back by now." Itzcoatl, her serpent companion slithered ahead.

"If I didn't know any better, my dear friend. I'd say you were in love with her." Fia rolled her bi-coloured eyes and lifted her head to catch the look he was throwing back at her. "What? Don't look at me like that. I tell it as I see it."

"Love?" The cobra scoffed, his tongue flicking angrily. He paused, puffing up his throat and, when the female had caught up, he continued on at her side.

Fia let the subject drop as quickly as it had arrived. She was too tired to argue with him and too bitter to care about things such as love. Her coat was dull and soiled with sand. Her paws felt blistered so that she walked with a somewhat awkward gait. The edges of her ribs could be seen through her fur and her face seemed haggard, the hollows in her cheeks casting odd shadows that made her appear gaunt. Her condition was certainly not improving and her hunger, exhaustion and thirst gave her a worse mood than usual. She was becoming easier and easier to anger and she knew it, too. She made swipes at Vesta all the time but thankfully the smaller lioness was too gentle to ever strike back at her verbal assault.

Her tail swished as she crested the slope of sand and she gave a weary sort of smile to see the rocks standing there, pillars that stood against time. Stone that would be hear long after she was dead and gone.

"We are not alone." The snake warned and, with a swift swish of his body, wound up Fia's foreleg and draped his coils around her thin neck.

"It's probably just Saharan..." But then she stepped around the rocks to see a lone male sitting there looking at the pictures scrawled upon the rocks. "Ah, my mistake. Probably a rogue come to learn." She huffed noisily through her nose and, through a growl, raised her voice.

"Another rogue come to bother me with questions, I suppose?" She made her voice purposefully grumpy. Maybe the male would lose his nerve and go before she could arrive.

Ahadi was very interested in the walls in front of him. It was interesting that was for sure. However his staring at the wall was soon interrupted by the sound of voices coming from not to far off. His ears turned in that direction and it was soon followed by his head, he looked in the direction and then took a breath in trying to get a whiff of whoever was coming his way. One of the voices weren't too familiar however on the other hand the other was. He couldn't exactly put his paw on where he knew it from but at the same time he thought he knew it. He could have been wrong but he wouldn't know until who ever it was came into his sights.

However the comments about being a rogue and asking questions caught his ear and he let out a small chuckle, turning his head back toward the rock and then snorting slightly. "I won't bother you with any questions." He glanced back in the direction that the voice was coming from. It was a lioness and she did look a little familiar however he couldn't think of a lioness that skinny that he knew. He had seen lionesses in the pride that were skinny but her markings and her skinny-ness didn't register with him. He didn't look anything like that, not yet anyway. He had lost some body mass since joining the pride however he still looked pretty healthy. Regardless he had a thick coat that hid his frame from being seen. He hated it in this heat but yet at the same time he was starting to get used to it. He had a feeling it would thin out eventually.

"That is unless you want to explain some of this." He laughed, his tone was a little sneaky, he was being a smart a** to a point but tried to hide it. He didn't feel like pissing off late. He had been in a better mood, hiding some of his normal grumpiness, however he was still finding himself teasing others.

She sat heavily and exhaled long and slow. The snake extended his neck and tasted the air, but both of their eyes were on the white-pelted stranger. Fia recognised him, of course. He had unusual markings and they had not met all that long ago. A couple of weeks, maybe? Time seemed an odd thing now...every day turning into the next with barely any acknowledgement. Time was passing too quickly but each day the same. Dry. Hot. Almost unbearable.

"Some?" She gave him a somewhat haughty look and turned her eyes to the rocks. "I could. If I wanted to." She clipped her jaw shut and watched him for a long moment. "I take it, since you are sitting here so readily, that you won a duel? You clearly are a fool by choosing to start your new life in a dying land." She scoffed at him and then got back onto her paws and sauntered closer, trying her best not to look weak-footed despite the protests of the pads on her feet. "Not smart enough to listen to me. Typical male."

She sat again a little closer to him and shook her head so that the snake wouldn't coil so tightly around her throat. "So. Did someone send you hear to learn? Or just to be a nuisance?"

A glance was given to the lioness, before he looked back at the rocks and nodded. "An explanation would be nice." He commented simply as he flicked his tail around behind him. "Most of it I can understand pretty easily but there are some parts that are hard to put together."Then again he hadn't been around that often, not often enough to know enough of the pride to peice the story together. For now he had to ask a question or two to the lioness. Since she seemed to know about the story in front of him. "Yes, I did." He answered he question at first ignoring the rest of what she was saying. Ignoring it at first anyway. He had planned on addressing what she was saying however he was thinking about it at first. He didn't want to just jump into it.

He paused for a moment before speaking with a small smirk. "Even if I die with the pride at least I can say I tried to help." He paused before glancing to her. "It's a pride that is worth trying to help, and if in the end it's okay then I can happily be part of one of it's ranks." He paused before breaking into another chuckle. "Funny how the rogue has more faith into this pride than one of it's people." He shot her a glance, almost out of annoyance. He liked this pride he felt welcomed into it, well he felt like he fit in anyway. He then shrugged. "I heard about it and I was interested in what I could find here." He said stubbornly. There were a few that told him about it however he decided himself that he was going to come with way to find out about the pride. " He said a little annoyed at what she said she thought he was doing.

"Well of course it's hard. To outsider eyes, our ways may take some time to understand." She gave a low growl and stood again, seemingly unable to settle despite her weariness. She took a few strides to the rocks and swiped a paw at one of the half-finished pieces, smearing it in the process.

She curled a lip in the beginnings of an annoyed grimace and then turned back to face him. His fur was so white it was almost uncomfortable to look at under the glare of the sun. "Of course. Of course. Apologies for my attempts at preserving your life." She griped. Fia had a way of covering her good deeds with a tone so impatient and gruff that her good actions often seemed bad. It was a talent, to be sure. She certainly didn't want to appear like a good hearted sort, that was for sure.

His dig at how he had more hope than she did riled her, however, and she bristled, curling her claws into the sand beneath her. "You shut your mouth, rogue." She hissed through her teeth. "I have hope but I am also realistic. Sometimes I think I'm the only one." She advanced a step, her tail lashing back and forth in agitation. "If you want a lesson in history then I'll give you one, but don't start thinking that because you are an optimistic idiot that you're better than me!"

At her comment about outsiders he shook his head, once again a little annoyed at the idea. He really didn't understand why she almost seemed full of herself when it came to this. But then again he wasn't going to brush off what she was saying. There must have been a reason. She seemed a little grumpier then the last time he had met her but there had to be a reason. Because of that he wasn't going to push to annoy her. He knew this weather was getting to a lot of others.

He shook his head at her apologies. "No need to apologize. I'm jst a little stubborn. Beside I thought it was your sister who was the medic and not you? Why should I listen to your advice about life?" He was being playful he made that clear by winking at her. He had met her sister, she was too firey and what seemed to be stubborn, but he didn't have too much of a reason to stick around the medics den, he went the other way as quickly as he could.

"Oh calm down." He commented back to her rolling his eyes. "I'm just pointing out. Be more positive, I'm also being realistic, I just choose to believe that after all periods of little rain it almost always rains." He then looked at her and a smirk grew on his face once again. "so you're still wiling to give me a history lesson?"

It was probably better that he had not reacted. Fia could be 'bitey' when provoked and particularly if she was in a bad mood. And, in her current state of health there was no doubt that Ahadhi would have bested her...which, of course...would not have gone down well, either. She'd never been one for losing.

His next words had her anger boiling again, but the wink disarmed her and she sputtered for a moment, unsure what to say next. What was this lion playing at? Did he want to get beaten up?! "Oh, well, fine then. Let's go and find my sister and then she can tell you the same thing as I have. Would you leave me then, rogue?" She stomped a paw against the ground and her tail lashed against the rocks, blasting dust into the air. A muscle in her shoulder twitched.

Her odd eyes narrowed again and after a long moment of silence, she gave a low growl, lay her ears flat and spat the word: "No."

Then, mumbling under her breath, she started to walk away from him.

Ahadi looked at the lioness and he could feel himself getting a little irked. Although he seemed like he was being playful and joking, and he was to a point, he was also serious he wanted to know about the pride and he wanted to learn more about it so he could understand what had once happened in the pride. He was proud to be part of it and because of that he wanted to know what was going on when he could. "That isn't too nice, you offer me a lesson and then you change your mind. Come on now." He said with a smirk on his lips trying to hold back his grump. He didn't want to get grumpy with her, not at the moment anyeay.

She growled long and low in her throat, quickly deciding that she didn't like this lion at all. He thought he was so smart. Though he could twist her into doing what he wanted. Well, she'd show him.

Forcing away a somewhat 'evil' looking grin, she turned back to him and narrowed her mismatched eyes at him. "Fine. You want a lesson? You got one!" She lifted a lip and, without giving him another glance, moved across to sit opposite one of the largest stones depicting images of their most ancient history. Smirking to herself, she selected the most boring lesson she could think of (the oh-so-complicated family line of Makadari) and prepared herself to give the most dull lesson of her life.

Then they'd see who got the last laugh.
