An empty training room was, to be honest, the best kind of training room a lot of the time as far as Tambrey was concerned. For an empty training room meant that no one was in it to see what she liked to do in these rooms; her training wasn't strictly bound to training her pokemon to be better battlers. No, every so often she came into these with a much more... visual focus to the moves than a focus on effectiveness. Contests. She'd never managed to enter one, nor did she really expect she'd get to, but she did happen to love near everything about them. The grunt stood, fully uniformed, at one end of a match area, directing two pokemon out on the arena area proper; a pink Golbat fluttered overhead, while a curious looking little Aron- looking very much like a ladybug in her black and red- stood ready below, poised to follow the commands issued. Clearly the trio had gone through things a couple of times, yet were determined to perfect what they were doing, thus none of them had any attention directed to the door for the moment.
"Okay, Ella, get ready!" Tambrey called, and the Aron responded with a little nod. "Aron!" "Alright, Lasi! Sand Attack! Make it last and swirl! Ella... Wait for it..." The grunt balled her fists, watching as her bat brought up dust and debris into a little swirling cloud... She waited until it was quite a substantial little cloud, swirling in front of the little ladybug-Aron, then called out again. "Ella, Metal Claw now! Make swirls!" "Aron!" Ella confirmed, little claws glowing with the steel-type energy of the Metal Claw attack as she waved them in swirls, counterwise to the swirling dust of the Sand-Attack. The glow trailed her claws, catching the minute particles of the swirling cloud and creating glittering trails that changed shape with the sand flow, lifting up toward Lasi. The trails glittered and sparkled for a few more seconds after the glow faded from Ella's claws and twinkled out of existence as Lasi's Sand-Attacks drifted back onto the floor. Both pokemon seemed delighted with it, watching their own efforts wide-eyed, even though the whole effect lasted perhaps 15 seconds. "Good job!" The grunt praised, genuinely. Tambrey couldn't help but smile at the simplistic effect. One day she'd have 'Sandstorm' and see what she could do with an effect that would really last, but for now, that wasn't a bad effort. Really short-lived, and no contest winner, but then she was only playing after all and it wasn't like anyone was watching....

Selene was taking one of her walks around the base. Her Aron was in her wake. She didn't mind that he was out, as long as he didn't get hungry... And if he did, she came prepared. She was walking past a door when something caught the corner of her eye. "Eh? ...Laerdan sit still for a moment." The Pokemon sat with a slight clank and watched his trainer.
She slid her gloved hand on the the door nob and very carefully opened the door to watch what was happening. She saw the swirls in the sand. Wait... She knew what this was! This other Rocket was training for a Contest! Selene always loved watching them when they were broadcasted. She enjoyed the beauty and cute categories.
The Trainee kept watch, the other seemed distracted enough not to notice her.

"All right! Let's try that again!" Tambrey called, gleefully. She really probably was distracted enough not to notice the door opening so far and began to cycle through the routine again. "Lasi! Sand Attack!" Up came the sand... "Ella! Metal Claw!!" And the little Aron's claws glowed. Tambrey was clearly very much enjoying this time spent training even such a simplistic little combined effort; she thought the trails Ella created in Lasi's sand were rather beautiful, even if they only lasted for a few seconds. She was about to praise her pokemon again when suddenly the sand drifted to the floor a little bit before it was supposed to- Tambrey and Ella may have been able to focus and become distracted enough to not notice a change to the room, but Lasi -loved- new people and new pokemon and... new everything! "..Lasi?" The grunt called up, narrowing her eyes up at the bat, not knowing why he'd suddenly become distracted from the contest training. "What's up?" She didn't even get an answer. The pink bat was grinning (to be fair he pretty much always was) as he shot toward the door. Someone was there! Someone new to meet! Someone new to play with! "GUH!" Lasi called in gleeful greeting, watched by a rather bemused Tambrey.

"Aron!" He nudged open the door and excitedly ran into the room with the pink Pokemon. Laerdan looked over at the other Aron. He headbutted her in greeting, it wasn't hard enough to hurt another Aron, but enough for a clink to be heard. Laerdan was overjoyed to meet new people, he even waddled over to the trainer and headbutted her foot.
Selene just sat in the door way. Dumbfounded and rubbing her forehead from a facepalm. Of course Laerdan would blow her cover even more, she could have made it looked like the wind opened the door! So stood and fixed her clothing and opened the door more. Her blue eyes scanned the training room, the other Rocket, and her Pokemon.
She walked in more and watched Laerdan make friends with the other. She looked at the other Rocket. "My apologies... Laerdan can get excitable." She habitually lightly stomped her boot heals into the ground. "Were you practicing for a contest? That was a brilliant idea... The Sand-Attack with Metal Claw... It's something not seen often, so bonus points there." Selene only knew some stuff about contest is because her mother would watch it, and as much as she hated to admit it, she liked it.

Ooh! Another one of whatever-it-was that Ella happened to be! They might say their names as a cry and yet Lasi couldn't be bothered to remember that name all the time. Who cared? Whatever the species, a new friend was a new friend! He fluttered excitedly back and forth after the other Aron had entered the room and then fluttered around this other human. More friends! The bat was pleased and his permanent grin seemed just a little wider.
"Aron!" The lady-bug style pokemon shouted her own greeting back, moving to headbutt the other of her species in kind. She'd actually not met many other Arons at all, but was delighted with the headbutt greeting.
Tambrey watched as a little Aron entered the room and proceeded to greet everyone... apparently by headbutting. Her eyes widened slightly as the little steel type decided to greet her by slamming his head into her boot. It wasn't exactly a hard impact, but it was still a heavy little steel-type impacting with her foot; she was glad of the boot. "Er... Hello." She addressed the unfamiliar Aron before hearing the other human crossing the room. "Laerdan?" She looked from Selene back to the Aron and then to the other Rocket once more. " 'S a nice name... Uh. Thanks, but... Not exactly. I mean. I don't.. enter them. I..." She flushed slightly red, this was awkward when people caught you at it. "I like contests. 'S a contest move... but it's, y'know.. just for fun." Suddenly she seemed to feel a need to justify the move a little more and blurted "It would be better with Sandstorm!" Ack. Perhaps it would be less awkward if they knew names. She doubted it, and it meant she'd have to hand over her own name, but perhaps it worth a try. "I'm Tambrey... And these are Lasi," She indicated the pink bat, fluttering around excitedly, and then gestured to the red and black Aron "And Ella."

Aron was about to be overloaded with joy, new Pokemon! He happily ran around with them. Selene watched Laerdan have some fun, she smiled, he needed some other interaction instead of being coddled by herself and Grunt Shadow.
She looked over to the other Rocket. "Hi." This was a bit awkward... She looked over at her Aron. "Thanks... It's from a book that I like." Oh right... Her name. "I'm Selene... as you know that is Laerdan." She listened as the other Rocket stumbled over her sentences. "It's a shame... that you don't enter and all. I think you'd be really good." Selene looked around, glad she closed the door after her. "I too enjoy it, I would watch it when my mother did."
Selene thought about the random blurt about Sandstorm. "Hmm... You are right. Sandstorm would be much more effective and give Ella more time to use Metal Claw to make designs. I don't know much about what really goes into be a contestant... but I have always wanted to try... and I've seen enough of them to know what would look good together." Or so she lead her self to believe.

Ella stood where she was for a moment, watching Lasi as he landed on the floor to awkwardly waddle around and investigate the new friend. Unlike the bat, Ella waited for permission to go and play; she knocked a little claw on Tam's boot, then pointed a tiny claw, questioning whether she was permitted to go and join whatever game they were going to play.
Well. That was cute. She was still getting used to Ella, to be honest; the pokemon was well behaved and polite to a fault. Even Treestar had awkward days every so often, where he became a tiny bit of a troublemaker. "Go on, then." The grunt permitted with a smile, then looked back to Selene, considering the name. "It's nice to meet you both... From a book?" Hm. It was familiar, but she couldn't say for sure whether she'd come across the name or not. "Well, that's something it wins points f'r... Books are very good; which book?" She glanced to the pokemon as she thought about how to address the issue of contests. "It's sort of a guilty passion for me... I'm not sure I'd ever have the gall t' compete in a contest but... I do love the idea." She looked back and seemed to grin as Selene understood about Sandstorm. "Exactly! It would give so much more time and the designs that she could trace with Metal Claw would last longer and form into larger patterns in the sand... I think... I mean, I'd have to try it... And, I know what you mean," She continued, switching out of move-talk to agree with the other Rocket. "I've watched the contests on TV and just, y'know, wanted to be the one shouting the moves." Well, Selene seemed nice enough, Tambrey took a chance in revealing a little more, less embarrassed to discover Selene seemed to share the love of contests. "I'm usually watching them in the Rec' Room when I can... 's the one thing that gets me out of my books on that sort of a break."

"I can't say I ever learned the title of it. It was an old leather bound book I had found in my fathers study. Half the time when I pick up a book I don't look at the cover, or title... I just dive right in." She chuckled slightly. She could be a bit odd when it came to books.
Selene thought about it. "Though.. I think with Sandstorm is that your Pokemon would really need to know how to control is, so that it does hit the crowd or judges." She paused for a minute. "Now that I think about it... There is a contest starting in Camphoreon City. If I remember correctly there is nothing in the rule book that says you can't enter!"
Selene herself wanted to enter, but when she looked over at Laerdan, she knew he wasn't ready. Unlike Lass and Ella, who seem to get a lot of practice. "I'll even go as a support group... person." She offered a smile. She may not be as good as making friends as Laerdan, but this was a start... right?

Tambrey smiled at the idea of just diving into a book without reading the title; she certainly understood that sort of enthusiasm and love for the written word, although she'd always enjoyed the covers and titles along with the stories within.
"Well. It's a nice name and I like it all the more now that I know it came out of a book." She complimented along with the smile. And then Selene brought up the slight problem of controlling Sandstorm.
"Ah. Hm... Actually. You have a good point. I have no one that actually knows Sandstorm yet, but i's a pretty difficult move to control..." Tambrey mused, wondering and about to ask about ideas for a move that might substitute Sandstorm, when she registered what Selene had said about entering a contest. The grunt certainly didn't look confident about that at all, holding a hand up as she shook her head. "Um. I'd be... sort of afraid that something would go wrong and then there's just the fact that it's entering and performing in front of people... Plus, what if someone recognised me? Y'know, there are people I know who might end up seeing me... Or there's kind of a chance that someone'd recognise me as Team Rocket somehow... 's just risky..." Not that she wasn't rather tempted, and that was a little hard to hide but she certainly wasn't confident enough for it and thus came the excuses. "I would have appreciated that though, thank you." Tambrey finished with, gratefully. "But..." She looked over at Laerdan and then back to Selene. "...You seem t' know about moves and things and y' said you wanted to try... Have you not thought about actually entering though?"

"We could always wear a disguise, perhaps wear wigs and what not." A slight blush came to Selene's cheeks, she has always wanted to try. When she was young she pretended her stuffed Pokemon plushies were real, often putting them into battle or contests... "Well I have.. But Laerdan is the only pokemon I have. I don't think he is ready for a contest. Maybe after a few practices I'd be more confident in entering him."
Selene thought for a moment. "I'm not sure of another substitute for sand storm... save for an endless barrage of sand-attack... Mud-slap would be to thick and might become messy..."
Aron heard Mud-slap and thought, 'I know that!' With excited cries Laerdan ran around in a tight circle then looked toward Selene and Tambrey. "Laerdan? ... Wh-" Before Selene could even ask, or think about what her pokemon was about to do... He started flinging mud happily at her, Tambrey and his new friends.

"Wear... a disguise? Huh..." She'd honestly never been sure if disguises actually worked- she knew she looked different without her glasses on and that was kind of a welcome thing, but an actual disguise, though sounded like it might be fun, also just sounded far-fetched. She supposed some most work, though; she just wished she didn't automatically think of the Hallowe'en party when she thought about disguises. "I... I suppose? Do disguises ever actually work?" Tambrey noted the blush as she asked and nodded a little at the next part- she understood that feeling too, but had a few ideas of her own about that. "Well... There's that and you can borrow pokemon sometimes in some of them... 's not quite the same as using your own, though, I know. He's a lively little thing- very spirited- so I'm sure he could make a very charismatic contestant one day..."
Tambrey would have liked to have had time to talk about the various suggestions and substitute attacks that might, or might not, have been possible, but with Laerdan suddenly there and poised she only had time to realise what was about to happen a nano-second before it did. "Oh fra-" She turned as the little steel type started pelting everyone with mud, wincing at the little thuds she felt hitting her. "Ella! Feh!" She spat a little as mud somehow ended up in her mouth. "Ella stop him!" Ella had been taking the attack politely, not entirely sure how she should be reacting to being pelted with mud while Lasi just seemed to be enjoying himself, flapping about and dramatically over-exaggerating every bit of mud he was hit with as though it was a gun-shot! It was such fun for the bat! At Tambrey's command, though, Ella put her head down and aimed a firm, but not all that fierce, headbutt toward the other Aron.

Only did Laerdan stop when Ella headbutted him. He stopped and looked around the room, looking hurt. Wasn't he doing good? He thought the Lasi was having fun, and Ella didn't seem to care... So why? He looked over at the two trainers covered in mud and hung his head.
Selene frowned. "I guess you were right... spirited. I'm sorry about this..." Of course when he listens it was unintentional. She wanted to scold the little steel-type, but how could she with him looking like that... She walked over to Laerdan and wiped some mud off his shell.
She also wiped off Ella and Lasi. Then she looked over Tambrey and offered her a clean hanky she carried in her coat. She let out a sigh. "I suppose we should go clean up..." Then an Idea. "If you want after we clean up why don't we meet back in the kitchen. I can make us lunch."

Laerdan was totally right about Lasi having fun! Even as the little steel type was stopped, the large pink flying type was fluttering around and around the room; if he weren't a Golbat, he likely would have been heard laughing his.. head.. off. Okay, well, maybe that wasn't a very apt mental picture, but the bat was still very amused.
Ella didn't want the other Aron to feel upset about his behaviour at all, she half understood what had happened after all and suspected over-excitement. The ladybug Aron put a little claw out, in what she hoped was a reassuring, sympathetic manner, to tap at the other little steel type's shoulder. "..Ron."
Tambrey was wiping at herself as Selene handed her the handkerchief. "Thanks, but honestly," She grinned and it was clear she'd been laughing to herself a little "That was kind of fun. At least he's proved he knows the attacks you mean when y' say them. And he seemed pretty keen to show off for you there." She didn't seem to mind that the Aron wasn't being scolded, nor seemed particularly to mind that she was now pretty well splattered in mud. "Lunch... sounds good." Tambrey admitted, watching the cleaned-off pokemon for a moment before she looked back to Selene. "You like to cook, or make food then? I don't mind making it, or warming something up, if you didn't really want to, but given how you offered, I guess 's somethin' you enjoy?" She made to hand the hanky back "If so, I'll be happy to take up on the offer- though, yes, best t', aheh, get changed first."

Laerdan gave a silly smile to Ella, to thank her for cheering him up. He gave her what looked like a hug. He was happy that she wasn't mad. He didn't want to upset his new friends.
Selene grinned. "Lunch it is then." She took the hankie back and stuck it in her coat pocket. "I'll meet you in the kitchen." With that she called Laerdan over and they headed toward her room. She tossed off her coat, it took much off the damage. Her black slacks weren't that bad, but she still changed out of them. Her hat protected her hair, since it was leather it shouldn't be too hard to wash. She wriggled out of the rest of her clothes and put on a black t-shirt and a pair of old jeans. She this back her hail in a loose pony. It was rare when she dressed casual like this. To be rank... she wasn't she what was and wasn't aloud as far as the dress code. She found a pair of old running sneakers and slid those on. She checked herself in the mirror and with Laerdan on her tail she headed toward the kitchen.
Before Tambrey got there she wanted to make sure the pasta was started. She found enough to make chicken Alfredo with angel hair pasta. Her stomach gurgled. Maybe she was a bit more hungry than she thought...

Ella gave a good-natured little nod back to her new friend. Good, making sure he wasn't upset about being told to stop was exactly her intention. She gave a nice smile back and then wandered toward her trainer as Laerdan and his trainer left.
"We'll be there 's soon as we can." Tambrey promised, watching the pair go before she set about recalling Ella, and then, the-still-excitedly-flying-about, Lasi. "Come on you two. A good job done today; we'll have to think of some new things too, though, next time. Maybe we'll train up on some new moves." Somehow she knew she'd not get around to that for just a little bit; she always promised to train or teach in new moves and it was always months before any of the work stuck. She had no idea how others seemed to do it in days sometimes. "I promise I'll sneak a little something out for you." She informed the pokeballs, before leaving to go back to her room herself.
Casual lunch wear was easy; her usual dark tops (blue again today), jeans and sandals would do and were already waiting for her anyway once she was done washing any left over mud off. A belt, for her pokeballs, and she was ready. She thought about the food as she made her way back toward the kitchen; she probably should have mentioned her lack of enthusiasm when it came to meat- most easily prepared foods seemed to contain it- but, well, she supposed it had been over a year now that she'd had to put up with the occasional venture into eating it. If it was a meat dish she found, it would be a meat dish she ate. Principles were not easy things to hold onto within Team Rocket.
The grunt, now casually attired, made brisk steps through the corridors, arriving in the kitchen a little while after Selene. "Sorry... 's mud's a little stubborn. So what're we having? Did you want me to help 't all?"
