Sparkling Senshi

The night was still fresh when Kallichore descended from her rooftop vigil. She'd been stargazing again, something she was finding herself doing more and more often. She kept up a journal in the lovely present Penelope had given her though it didn't give the eternal as much peace as she would have liked. Too many questions, too few answers and too few options. She had so much energy to expend and no safe outlet for it. Instead, Kallichore tried to confine herself to calm activities and that was when the sky drew her eyes.

What was it like back then? When things were different and Chaos didn't rule? When we didn't have to think about the health and safety of our souls as well as those around us? What was peace like?

Kallichore knew there was no way to return to that time of peace and prosperity - at least not yet. If there was anything to be said, the eternal knew her place in the war would somehow beget victories unto the many people she tried to protect. She wanted more than anything to give the people she loved and respected the peace that would allow them to sleep soundly at night. She wanted to end the anxious thoughts that plagued so many senshi, that made them look twice, thrice over their shoulders. But she didn't know how.

Frustrated, the senshi of madness went about jumping from roof to roof to try and work out her anxiety. That was when a pinprick of energy on her mental radar made her stop, a glowing white form on another building catching her eye. The signature was fuzzy, but familiar. Order, purity, ally. Coming closer, Kallichore came to realize she recognized the figure sitting there with her eyes to the sky.

"Polaris?"

Polaris wasn't usually one to dilly dally, but the night had been oddly quiet and peaceful. No signs of youma running amuck. No muggings or robberies that she could hear. She couldn't even feel the aura of Chaos anywhere near by. So after awhile of patrolling the eternal senshi of magnetism settled down for a little while to rest her feet and collect her thoughts. It didn't take long for her eyes to get caught up in the starry night, focusing particularly on her homeworld. How lucky she was to be able to pick it out so easily.

She wasn't planning on going to her star tonight, but she was listening nonetheless, trying to hear the faint sound and song of the distant homeland.

When her name was called, she looked surprised for a moment, distracted before her eyes searched for the source, shifting in her seated position.

"Kallichore...?" She hadn't seen her in awhile actually, but she was almost certain that it was the senshi of madness. A familiar face was a welcome sign.

"Hey, hi. It's been a long time since I last saw you." A gloved hand lifted in a half wave, debating whether she should stand up to greet the other senshi.

Sparkling Senshi

Reaching the top level where Polaris sat, Kallichore let out a sigh of relief. Someone else she knew and on top of that, someone more senior than she. While she wasn't able to find too many of them willing to talk about what happened before she was awakened, Polaris was always kind and gentle and was more than happy to tell her about the things she knew. Even back then when Kallichore was Super. Polaris didn't look to have changed and that was the relieving thing. The senshi of madness didn't think Polaris would succumb. She was too strong for that.

The senshi in red didn't sit just yet, but stood in a quiet vigil next to her senior. A light and calming breeze blew past them, sending bits of their uniform alift in a slow dance. "It has been a long time, but it's good to see you again, Polaris. How have you been?"

Kallichore didn't want to admit she'd never been able to find Chibimoon or the others Polaris had spoken about. Kallichore's search for any of them had been in vain - not a trace, just whisperings. It was one of her many failures, she thought. Maybe someday she'd find them and truly find her calling in the war. Lifting her head to the sky again, brown eyes softened. "Can you see your star from here...?" she asked quietly. Kallichore didn't quite know where Polaris was in the sky, but knew sailors from hundreds of years ago would use its sparkle to guide them. Was there some connection here now?

"Always nice to see a friendly face." She agreed with a soft nod, shifting the weight back on her hand. Always nice to see that they were still there to fight the battle. It was often a worry that nagged in the back of her head when she didn't see other senshi for a long while. Fatality was not stranger to senshi. And even worse.. neither was corruption. Kallichore was here however, looking perfectly fine, in fact even better and more powerful from the last time.

"I'm good really. As good as a solider can ever be, you know." For all the worries and stresses and loses of senshi there were always wins and moments that made you proud or happy.

"I see you earned your wings, huh?" Her smile brightened a little more as she pointed at the new addition to the other senshi's fuku.

The question caught her off guard, and she turned her eyes upward subconciously, locating the star before she smiled and nodded once more, pointing towards the star. "I'm lucky really in that regard. It was one of the first things I learned upon becoming a senshi. Right there on the handle of the little dipper."

Even young children were able to pick out the dippers for the most part. And sailors and soliders and lost adventurers. She could almost hear the soft song of her star as she spoke of it. Maybe some day she'd take Kallichore there, if she really wanted to go.

Sparkling Senshi

Kallichore gave Polaris a gentle smile and followed the other senshi's hand to the Little Dipper. There, shining like a beacon to guide the lost was the namesake of the senior senshi. Right there, sparkling in the sea of the sky. Polaris really was lucky in that regard, to be able to see the source of her power so easily in the night sky. Kallichore's own was so tiny and so far away on top of that, but she didn't mind. It was out there shining in its own way and that in and of itself was comfort enough.

A curt nod came as the answer to Polaris' observations. "Yes, I did earn my wings. Earn is a good way to put it. It's the best we can do, right? It's the top, and I'm proud of that." She looked over to Polaris and shifted her shoulders. "They have their top generals but we... we have wings." There was something comforting about that, the fact that the wings that adored eternal senshi were angelic and symbolic of purity and strength. The Negaverse had nothing like that she was aware of.

The senshi of madness finally sat next to Polaris and let loose the breath she was holding. Here they were, watching the night sky in a reverie unique to them. There was precious little else like two eternal senshi pointing out the stars to one another. "You're still you, Polaris, and I'm really glad about that. There are too many we've lost already."

"Yeah. Greatness never comes without a little challenge it seems. But then.. the best things in the world are worth working for." She mused in agreement to the word 'earn', her smile growing all the more as Kallichore mentioned the wings. That had always been something that had given her comfort too. Maybe it was naive to think that symbolism like that really meant anything.. but so far it was one she clung to. And one that seemed so far to fit pretty well. White angelic wings, softer and purer colors in their clothing. She'd seen the dark and demonic wings on the monster that was Alkaid, along the cracked and unnatural skin.

It's the best we can do, right? It's the top, and I'm proud of that

Polaris paused for a moment at the words, warring for a moment in silence. She knew the answer to that question, but she worried about wounding the pride of the other senshi with it. Polaris had been so proud of herself when she went eternal, and Kallichore had every right to feel that way. Maybe even one day Kallichore would do something that would make her a princess too? But it was something that didn't come easily.. something that most would not likely achieve even as strong, competent, and wonderful warriors. Would she upset the other senshi if she mentioned it...?

"I'm me and I'm here. Until either we win this or I breath my last breath." Kallichore would probably appreciate that enthusiasm and it was then that Polaris finally made up her mind, hazarding softly. "Some things have changed though. A change for the better I suppose."
