When he actually wants to be taken seriously, he will raise his normally quiet voice to a shout. People who he doesn’t know well or people who don’t know him will think he is one of the jerks who is prone to playing football and is simply unusually gentle-voiced. Riven is actually a softie at heart. He tends to be very sensitive to others’ emotions.

⋆ History :: :: Riven grew up in the same household as his older brother Ezekiel; a quiet, little house near the center of District 3. As a boy, Riven was always timid and shy about talking to people and greatly preferred electronics to the company of others. His parents didn’t mind this, and his anti-social habit was allowed to flourish. While his older brother struggled through school (for many reasons), Riven’s grades soared. Having too much time to himself had its advantages. Later on, in middle and high school, some people were afraid to go near him because they knew his brother. Even his loud and obnoxious brother had a heart and was very protective over his youngest sibling.
Eventually, Riven made a handful of friends, many who were very unlike himself and were constantly joking around and pulling pranks. He always thought he decided to hang out with them because they reminded him of his brother, who, being an apprentice, was away working most of the day after school and Riven rarely got to see him. He had made these friends when he was 12 – when he was first put into the reaping. Ezekiel forced Riven to not take any tesseare and took them all onto himself while he could, but both of them knew Riven would start getting greater chances to be pulled for the games. Strength training had started immediately after his first reaping experience. His brother has never learned about his training and Riven has been practicing in secret for four years.
