Roll a Five: The Fire Field: A series of thick rock pillars, all different sizes of height, reach towards the stadium ceiling from a pool of hot lava. While there is a fire-proof net far below to catch any pokemon that falls off the platforms, the rock pillars themselves are hot to the touch. They can cause burns if your pokemon stand still for a set period of time. The air around the field is very heavy from the extreme heat. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FIRE type attacks. This field reduces ICE and WATER type attacks by 25 HP.

Walpurgis took off his cloak and duster as the heat battered him. It wasn't much hotter than the desert he had grown up in on a high day, but the cloaks were mostly used for sandstorms, not keeping cool. Dropping them to the side, he recalled Gangrel to his pokeball until their opponent arrived. Their opponent...
He and Gangrel arrived in Katarina not two hours earlier, a day earlier than the mission had asked. They had engaged in combat with a powerful eevee, and their first stop was to the pokemon center. As Gangrel was being healed, he overheard people talking about a small pokemon who haphazardly (suicidally, most said) challenged a legendary to a fight. He would have thought they were talking about Gangrel, but the rattata had been with him the entire day. There would have been no chance to pick a fight with a legendary.
After he learned the identity of the pokemon, he issued a formal challenge on Gangrel's behalf, knowing his nature would demand a challenge against one so like him. He felt the pokeball shake with the excited anticipation of the pokemon inside. Not only was their opponent so battle hungry as to challenge a legendary for the sake of fighting it, it was a rodent pokemon like him.
Wiping the sweat from his brow, he began to formulate plans for Gangrel to use. Ice attacks, Gangrel's favorite, would be little use here. They'd have to resort to new tactics. Still, it was all mere theorycrafting until the battle started. Even he was getting excited now. He couldn't wait to see this fight.

"Okay, okay, hold your Ponytas!" Shina said to Anna, who was winding around her feet, bounding off a few paces, and coming back to repeat the pattern over and over again. "Honestly, I can't believe what that psychic trainer said you said to that legendary! Challenging to a battle, fine, but calling it a chicken? You are going to get yourself in trouble one of these days!" Shina said, stopping abruptly as the door opened and the heat slapped her in the face. "Ah, fire field. Well, good luck, girl. Go get 'em."
With a bloodthirsty gleam in her red eyes, Anna leaped from the trainer box, landing on one of the rocky pillars, looking around eagerly for her opponent.

((It's very out of character for Gangrel to wait to rip into someone, so I'm just going to have him do something preemptive, but non damaging.))
Gangrel spotted the enemy - it had red eyes like himself, and he could certainly sense the battlelust. He began to tingle with anticipation. Fighting another so like himself called for a special show. Instead of the usual malice, there was excitement in his red eyes. But those red eyes faded to a light blue, and snow wrapped itself around him. He might not get a chance to use an ice-type attack offensively, but he could sure as hell set the mood.
The intense heat was already melting the fledgling snowstorm, and water droplets fell to the floor, immediately evaporating and causing a small amount of steam. Gangrel smiled. [Perfect.] He willed the snow stronger, so much that it could last about five seconds, and set a huge amount out all around the arena.
The snow turned to water as it reached the lava below, a torrential downpour by any standard. And that water turned to steam, cooling the arena, and making vision slightly difficult.
Gangrel gaped at the scene - up in the trainer's box, he could still see the silhouettes of the pokemon, but the effect of the steam was breath-taking. It looked like a final battle in an action movie.
Calling out to the other trainer, he announced "Ready whenever you are, and apparently so is Gangrel!"

Anna looked at the changed atmosphere and laughed, an eerie "Fufufufufufu!" that echoed around the steamy stadium. A slow, deliberate "shrik, shrik," underscored the laughter as Anna honed her claws.

Gangrel gaped as the other pokemon immediately went to work preparing. He was the only one who had ever done that to his knowledge. Still though, it was fun. Standing on his hind legs, he extended a single paw, bringing the claws inward and outward repeatedly.

Gangrel slid back a fair bit from the force of the blow. What kind of lady tries to cave someone's skull in? Still though, the intrigue continued.
"Gangrel, use defense curl! That furret has got some moves!"
Gangrel had to agree with begrudging admiration. Curling tight into a ball, he tried to weather the storm.

Gangrel's guard slipped a little as another blow struck hard, but he quickly returned to a guarded position. He just had to get used to the pain...

Gangrel's guard was shattered by the blow, and he quickly rolled away.

Looking up at the furret with icy blue eyes, he fired an equally icy beam.

Gangrel flew to the side as his defenses crumbled. Defiantly, he launched another beam of ice, vaguely aware that the arena would probably not put up with their plan.
