It had been a long time since he had felt the burning sensation in his chest followed by the voice bubbling in his mind. He almost was confused as he gripped his chest, but realization came quickly. Mistress wanted him! Was actually summoning him! Dress nice, was all she had said.
Did she have some outing with demon superiors or something? Did she need a chauffeur? Or just general assistance, perhaps? He didn't know about any business deals, but she had never mentioned anything of the like, that seemed more likely for Barth. He was left baffled as he pulled on his best suit, I.E. his usual brown one since none of his clothing from previous dances, etc, fit him anymore, and a tie, carefully fumbling with his hair until he finally managed to pull it back neatly, parted on the side to try to limit his shagginess.
Maybe it had something to do with the assembly? Was she meeting with the four clans? Did she want to audition to become a representative? Maybe as Student Council President she had some official business? His brain was whirling as he limped his way to the demon dorms, glancing hesitantly at Barth's door before shuffling next door to Riley's to give a polite knock.

Riley had meant to do this for a while. She'd promised Calder, and furthermore, she promised herself. Things had changed rather drastically since she'd made that promise, and even though her plans had not changed, she had changed. Her heart was heavy with darkness, and her mind was clouded by doubt. Riley was, for lack of a better word, not herself lately.
And Christof's 'date' would have to pay the price.
She opened the door dressed in a stupid little dress that entirely wasn't her style, and she looked openly uncomfortable with it. In fact, she almost instantly put a sweater on over the dress as soon as she stepped out of her room - she didn't invite him inside, she was ready to leave the moment she'd opened the door.
Good evening, Christof. She greeted him gently. Today, we are going to do something to work on our relationship.

Christof's eyes darted down, and then quickly back up again, a look of surprise and slight terror on his face. Er... what, Mistress?

She walked off, fully expecting him to follow. It is no secret that things have been .. discordant between us lately. I sought some advice on how to tackle the problem, and I believe it is in the best interests of our friendship to go out together. So. We are going to do so. Please step lively, I do not want to be late for the movie.

I.... er... yes, Mistress! Ah... movie? His brain seemed to be short circuiting with the sudden realization of what was going on. It was all he could do to make sure her door was shut and locked before limping after her.

Yes, Christof. A movie. Will I be repeating myself consistently tonight? It that going to become a habit? I assure you I will not enjoy doing so. Please keep up, you're lagging behind.
She had gotten ahead of him, long strides taking their assured steps without slowing to wait. Her demeanor was purposeful, and every step looked the part until she finally paused, quite suddenly, and looked up and to her left.
What?
She blinked, turning to stare at Christof as if he'd said something.
What did you say to me..?

Christof stopped in his tracks as she turned to glower at him, his face pale in patches as he shook his head, Nothing, Mistress! I'm just... a little... confused is all! Are... are we... his brain tried to chug through new possibilities for what was possibly happening, doing reconnaissance for a school event or...?

Riley stared at him for a long, heavy moment, before shaking her head and turning away.
No, Christof. This isn't about school, or the hunters, or even the grand scheme. This is about you, and me. And our relationship. She stumbled in her step and whirled around, glaring angrily at Christof.
How DARE you, Christof. I am trying to make up for any grief I have caused you, and you dare call me a failure, a disgrace, who are you to-
Her head turned to the side, stopping her cold, and her skin paled slightly.
Ah.. ah. Nevermind.. my apologies. Just.. just come along.

Christof gaped, looking panic-stricken on more than one front. I didn't- Mistress is... everything alright? You haven't caused me any grief. I am sorry if... if... if you think I am ungrateful or... I know I'm just... I know my place Mistress, you don't have to... Maybe she just wanted to see a movie that Jericho or Malodore had no interest in, but didn't want to go alone? That sounded possible. She certainly was acting odd, though, and the concern ebbed up in his chest. He hurried his hobbling until he was almost running to keep up, twisting his tie between his hands, I have never been to the movie theater before. Only at those club meetings and Miss Shehk's room... He was also not used to keeping up conversation while they traveled. Hopefully keeping it light would help his Mistress's apparently disheveled nerves?

I'm fine. I. Am fine. I'M FINE. The last one had been yelled out to the empty space beside her, but she turned back to Christof quickly and rose both of her hands, waving them in the air. I know I don't have to do this, Christof, I want to. I want to try.. you know. Being your friend. Will you give us that chance, I wonder? Or will you continue to cower beneath me every moment until I finally throw you to the - SHUT UP. Jack help me, what is all that noise..
She growled viciously, and took him by the hand, leading him forcefully onward.

You don't look fine, Mistress, he kept the thought gentle, but concerned. I don't hear anything, but maybe if you'd er... like to just take a moment to- His thought was cut short by a startled noise in his throat as she grabbed him sharply.

I didn't ask your opinion. She growled, and immediately relented. Her hold on him softened, and she pulled him to her side, wrapping her arm around his shoulder. Come on, please, this is as hard for me as it is for you. I just want to do.. whatever it is friends are supposed to do together. Enjoy each others company. No problems, nothing to.. Her head twitched, but she said nothing. Nothing to worry about. We'll go see a movie. Or do you not like movies? I'm simply going by the book here, I'm not really well versed on what we should be doing.

Whatever you wish, Mistress, he managed a weak smile, but worry was still painted on his features, even as he was pulled into her arm. If you aren't feeling well... perhaps... perhaps we should talk to the Nurse or Malodore before we er... You shouldn't bother yourself if you are unwell...

No. And I'm not going to spend the rest of the day trying to convince you of it, either. So the discussion is over. Now, tell me - is there any movie you are particularly interested in seeing?
She seemed to have calmed down, for the moment as she regarded him quietly.

I am... not really er... very familiar with movies, Mistress. Igors don't generally er... He twisted his hands, still looking nervous. Calder mentioned one called Fearful Passions, but it did not sound terribly interesting... What was even going on, seriously.
