Ms. Sparkles was widening her horizons, and exploring a forest near the city. She had her Whimsicott, Chromatic, out of the Pokeball in case wild Pokemon decided to approach.
As always, she was talking to her Pokemon, "I hope nothing we can't handle show up." The trainer was a bit worried, as she held her Whimsicott close.
"But on the bright side, maybe we'll find a pretty Pokemon to be your friend! How about a nice one, of the male species?" She winked to Chromatic.

Started at the presence of an unfamiliar pokemon and human, Niji attacked, nipping at the pokemon.

Ms.Sparkles paused at the sound of rustling leaves to her right. She shuffled behind Chromatic.
An Eevee with rainbow mane appeared from the bushes. "An Eevee!" exclaimed Ms. Sparkles. "And so pretty! And male!" The trainer was triumphant. "Yesss! Let's capture him! He would make a nice addition to the team, even if he's not in your egg group, Chromatic. Ready for a battle?"
Chromatic nodded and got into a battle stance.
"Start off with Charm!" Ms. Sparkles commanded.
Chromatic posed seductively. The scattered light from the canopies shone on her wool, creating a brilliant shimmering glow.

Niji was briefly distracted by the sparkling fur. Then he responded by showing off his own sparkling fur, in the form of Iron Tail.

"Well, that was pretty useless." Ms. Sparkles decided on a different tactic. "Give him a taste of your poison powder!"
Chromatic shook her wool, releasing a dust of poisonous powder.

Niji danced away from the poisonous dust, fluffing his fur, hissing and growling. He danced out of range for a bit, making a threatening nuisance of himself and clearly communicating that he was not pleased with the attack.

"Poison Powder again! Come on, be lucky for once!" Ms. Sparkles was starting to get annoyed with this attack never working out when she wants it to.

Niji backed up further, and having no desire to get closer to the toxic cloud, sent a mass of shadow at the other pokemon.

The attack sucked the energy out of Niji, but he refused to give in this early in the battle. Instead he darted forward and slammed his tail towards the Whimsicott.
