Niji wandered through the tall grass, traveling from one berry bush cluster to another. The grass rustles around him.

Kate walked leisurely through the seemingly never-ending forest around her, her faithful Growlithe, Ozar, keeping pace beside her. Not having an ounce of a sense of direction, she felt that if she just kept walking she'd eventually find some sort of civilization.
Glancing down at Ozar, Kate sighed. This constant walking was getting boring and she held no doubt that her fiery friend thought the same.
Suddenly, Ozar stopped, his ears perking up. Kate stopped beside him.
"What is it Ozar?" she asked, frowning. Staying silent, she heard what Ozar most likely heard brief moments before. A rustling in the bushes to their left.
Kate's eyes brightened. A wild pokemon! It had to be!
"Ozar, go!" she said. Obediently, Ozar growled and leapt at the bushes.

"Ozar use flamethrower to smoke 'em out of there!" Kate shouted, overly giddy to have finally encountered a wild pokemon on this forest trek. She wondered what type of pokemon was hiding in there.
Ozar growled and suddenly a thick plume of flames burst forth from his maw and into the foliage.

Startled, but undamaged, Niji leaped out of the concealing grass. "Vee!" With a sharp bark, Niji sent a flurry of stars after the Growlithe.

Ozar yipped as the stars made contact, skittering back and shaking his muzzle, clearly agitated. Kate frowned at the damage her Growlithe took, but at the same time was nearly bouncing in her spot. An eevee! The wild pokemon wasn't just any pokemon, but an eevee! Images of dancing flareons paraded through Kate's mind.
"I've gotta catch it!" she exclaimed. "Ozar, bite it!"
Ozar barked his agreement with the move choice, glaring at the eevee. Baring his set of sharp teeth, he lunged at the eevee.

Niji slipped to the side, somehow avoiding the teeth and nipping back with his own attack. They might not be as large or impressive, but they were still sharp!

Ozar dodged to the side, barely missing the eevee's sharp canines. Kate cheered for her Growlithe's agility but inwardly wondered where his aim had run off to.
"Ozar let's try flamethrower again!" she called.
Taking a breath in, Ozar exhaled a large blast of flames in the eevee's direction.

Niji yelped at the lick of fire. He didn't like that! Annoyed, he set his paws to the dirt and sent a shower of earth at the dog.

"Aha! A hit!" Kate cheered. "Woah!" Moving to the side the same time Ozar did as a shower of dirt rained down around her. "Yuck... Ozar use body slam!"
Ozar growled, pawing the dirt beneath him. Within seconds, he was running towards the eevee at full speed.

"Ozar! Do you have dirt in your eyes or what?" Kate fumed. Shielding her face as another round of dirt flew into the air, she looked to see Ozar dodge the large dirt clods that were thrown in his direction. "At least you're fast," she laughed, letting the frustration go for now.
"Go in for another bite attack!" she called.
Getting fed up with the dirt, Ozar snarled and lunged at the eevee again.

Ozar yipped as the stars stung his body. Shaking himself out thoroughly he regained composure and stood tall.
"Body Slam him, Ozar!" Kate growled. She was never going to capture this eevee if she couldn't weaken it.
Ozar barked once and charged forward at the eevee.
