Angels...

For entities who have so much influence over the spiritual realm that we as Christians believe in, Why does the Bible have so little to say about them?

... Because the Bible is so vague on a subject that so many people throughout the centuries have been interested in, where do we get our information?

It may surprise some of you on where exactly most of our actual knowledge comes from, and where some of our misconceptions originate.

Much of the information that we have about entities of the Spiritual Realm has been taken from Ancient Aramic, Jewish Mystic, Judaistic, and Islamic traditions.

Early Christians were not negligent in talking about spiritual beings, and there are several sources of information that early Christians were familiar with that touched on the subject, or at least acknowledged it.

So, if early Christians had more information on angels and demons, why do we not have it today? There are several reasons why the men who compiled the Biblical Canon chose to leave some of that information out. One reason was that they could not all agree as to the nature of such entities. Another reason was because of the popularity of polytheistic religions, some church fathers were concerned that angels would become the replacement for veneration in place of many gods, and thus end up right back where they started.

Whatever reasons they had for leaving us in the dark, sometimes it seems that we weren't done any favors... Now the Christian tradition has developed a rather recent counterpart deity that has been coined Lucifer... an entity that has the audacity to go against God, and is considered to be the second most powerful being in the whole of the universe....

So how did we get from there to here... Hopefully we will find that out.

Angelical Heirarchy

This can be a pretty confusing bit of information, because of the fact that Bible has so little to tell us in regards to the nature of Heaven. Because of this I feel it is necessary to share the Hebraic hierarchy as well as the Christian heirarchy...

Hebraic Structure
The Judaic tradition gives so much more information on the nature of heaven and Hell, and the entities who reside therein. Because of Christianity's root in Judaism, I feel like it is entirely appropriate to search for understanding within the teachings of Judaism.

Christian Structure

As already noted, there isn't a whole lot of information about Heaven, Hell, and angels to be had from the Bible. Allot of Christian tradition about angels has been formed by artwork, and educated guesses of men trying to stick as strictly to the Bible as the could.
