There was always something different about Halloween, the Labyrinth was no exception. Perhaps it was the thick quality of the air, the dank undertones of the pervasive existence of Fear, or even the thick layer of pressure pressing against the skin. Everything seemed unnatural and surreal.
Each weapon innately flared into existence in their owners' hands, a strange stream of glowing hues like a herald to their presence. In each of the Hunters' supply packs were a set of bandages, a pair of Runic weapons, and a pendant to return them back to mission base point.
"Rendezvous in thirty minutes and counting, if anyone finds the Artifact, your weapons should easily be able to sense its expounded Fear, let us know through communications. Be wary of obstacles in the Labyrinth, it is named aptly so for a reason. Use your headsets if you see anything unusual." Liam nodded, and signaled a few of his division team members to follow, the rest of the other leaders dissolved as well. They were really stabbing blindly at the dark, going by the single clue they were given. OOC: THE LABYRINTH - All Fear Hunters have 30 minutes to spend at the labyrinth. - You can only roll to move location once every 2 OOC hours (which is once every IC 5 minutes or so). You do have unlimited reaction posts, and can talk through the headsets. - exclaim MAKE SURE TO QUOTE WHOMEVER YOU ARE COMMUNICATING WITH, WHETHER NORMALLY OR THROUGH HEADSETS exclaim While you are exploring the labyrinth, unless you reach the end, you can only physically interact with characters who are in the same area as you. - Please roll a 100 sided dice and match your dice rolls to the below results! Post your location at the top of your post so others know. If you want to talk to them through headsets quote the character and post the word HEADSET in the post. 1-20 - LOCATION NAME: DEAD END ZONE A You reach a dead end in the labyrinth! You take up valuable time as you look around for another exit. There seems to be a strange hissing sound nearby.. your weapon seems agitated. 21 - 40 - LOCATION NAME: TRAP ZONE AYou trigger a trap - spikes/ rocks/ hammers/ arrows (your choice really), come sailing at you, and you barely manage to deflect it, but injure your leg/arm/side (choose) in the process. You need to spend a second to patch up. 41 - 60 - LOCATION NAME: DEAD END ZONE BYou hear a noise, a strange whispering sound, but following it makes you reach a dead end. 61 - 80 - LOCATION NAME TRAP ZONE B It is pitch black, it is dark, you can't hear anything. You need to make it out, but you can't see anything ahead of you, you hear rumbling sounds, as if the walls are closing in on you. You make a run for it as everything seems to get smaller and smaller around you... 81- 100 - LOCATION NAME: LABYRINTH CENTER You make it to the "end" of the labyrinth, where you can see several Hunters and all the division leads (Liam, Ferdinand, John, and Velda) looking around for more information. They seem confused, especially since on the center dais, where there should have been an artifact, there is nothing. Everyone is searching around. If you reach this end stage post, you can still communicate through the headset with other players as you wish who have not made it there. [Trap Zone A] The runes on Miyako's grip flared bright as Marshall passed through the portal, the whip practically vibrating with excitement in his hand. Mission start, almost as familiar as getting out of bed in the morning. He swung his pack onto his back and shrugged it easily into place, looping the pendant over his head and tucking it under his scarf. He nodded confirmation to the instructions Liam gave and watched the division heads vanish into the labyrinth. Before he plunged in himself, he hesitated, turned to find Lowe, clapped the younger man on the shoulder. "Stay safe so we can hang out later," he said, then dropped his hand and walked into the labyrinth. The atmosphere was gloomy and oppressive, the Labyrinth's walls looming broodingly overhead. Marsh counted turns and pathways, constructing a mental map and watching for any sign of creatures or anything else. So when a soft click and grind sounded as he turned a corner, he dropped reflexively, bringing Miyako up and around; most of the hail of sharp stones passed overhead, and a few more were deflected by Miyako's lashes, but enough of them struck his arm and shoulders to slice through his coat and inflict deep, stinging slashes. "********," he grumbled, and pulled a roll of plain bandages out of one of his pockets. Leaving a blood trail would just be careless.

Finally dressed, and like a miniature version of Ferdinand of all people, Velda darted through the portal and was off into the Labyrinth without bothering to mark her way. This kind of puzzle was her bread and butter, it was what lie at the heart of it that was the real issue. Henry followed swiftly after her, a silent shadow content to let her lead.

Elyssviel was positively squirming with discomfort, sending so much apprehension through their bond that Titania couldn't help but look around extra carefully. It wasn't typical for her kirin soul to feel so anxious. What was there in the dark? Titania tightened her grip on Elya, eyes scanning the darkness.

[ DEAD END B ]
Entering had done nothing to stop the jitters and nerves in his stomach, and Lowe gripped Afzal tighter as they entered in with everyone else. He tapped his headset and whispered, wondering if anyone was going to actually listen in on this. Marsh has said his good-byes and Lowe only mutly nodded in return, setting off to see what he could find.
Eventually a strange voice seemed to fill his ears, or his mind, and the young Sun Hunter turned down a strange path and started walking. His feet carried him through twists and turns, all the while the sound was still echoing, and he was a bit shocked to find that he had reached a dead end.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY ARE WE HERE?
"I heard a voice coming from this way."
WAS IT IN YOUR HEAD ONLY BECAUSE I SURE AS ******** DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING. STUPID ******** frowned and squeezed Afzal again, turning to see if there was a way out. He shouldn't be the only one trapped here, right?

[TRAP ZONE A]
It had been so hard for Dave to leave Jess to enter the portal, but the old instincts carried him through. It was time to do what he'd been conditioned most of his life to do, time to actually be a hunter. Halloween was always horrible to be anywhere near, everything in his body, all his instincts rebelled viciously against his surroundings, making nerves run all the higher. In here all memory of the bustling and somewhat festive world outside, of the photo taken in jest, seemed to fade in this lingering air. He could still feel the faint touch of Jess' kiss on his cheek, though even that seemed to lose its power to warm him in this horrible place.
At first he tried to stay close to Liam, following his division leader as far as he could into the maze, until he found it harder and harder to keep people in sight, the twisting winding maze much too complex for his weary bones.
And then just as he was starting to find his bearings, one wrong foot on a apparently booby trapped rock resulted in a barrage of very unexpected arrows. It was only Argyll's hasty LOOK OUT that truly tapped into his honed instincts and had him narrowly avoid becoming much more spiky than he was before.
Nevertheless one of them caught his knee rather painfully, leaving him sprawling on the floor, cursing in various creative little ways as he set about mending himself up as best he could. "******** helll. I just LOVE getting mangled."

[[ ISAAC IS NOW IN "DEAD END ZONE A" ]] A dark, unsettling aura greeted Isaac as he got his footing on the earth of the area. Kyanos glowed menacingly in Isaac's hand, coiled only just enough so that he wouldn't drag on the ground as they moved. The other chewed hand was pressing self consciously against the cowboy hat Cliff had let him take along. He'd tightened the string beneath his neck-- he knew it was going to fall off at some point. "Time to get going," he whispered to Adam. "Be careful out there." It felt like if he talked louder, he didn't know what would spring out to get them in the menacing, dark, winding way. The leaders had gone on ahead, and with a wave, Isaac stepped out into the dark labyrinth after them. But it seemed the more he tried to follow, the more he lost them. Their figures had vanished from his sight. He could barely see his own hand in front of his face-- and all he could hear were the echoes far behind of hunters still taking off, and of his own pensive breathing. He was as tense as a bowstring in here. The air was thick, cloyingly so, and Kyanos was growling in the back of his head like a dog with fur standing up along its back. Isaac snuck forward blindly, and then promptly smacked into a wall. He sucked in a breath of fear and jumped back-- but nothing happened. There was no one and nothing here... save for a hiss that sounded ominous.

[ LABYRINTH CENTER ]
It felt like going into a blender. The very air, the very feel of Halloween felt too thick and too tense, as though it were constricting inwards, waiting and pushing against his skin and body. Warden felt the sai swords against his belt warm, and he was forced to let go of Billie's hand to take the second back into his fingers, the metal cool against his palm.
He didn't like this - not at all. It felt wrong, especially since he no longer felt the calm chaos of the city, of a normal place like Times Square.
Warden's gaze flickered towards Billie one last time.
"Remember what I told you," he said firmly. And then, before he would regret doing it, he grabbed her and kissed her quickly and roughly in a very surprising gesture of public affection.
"Be safe," he growled out, and disappeared into the Labyrinth.
It took him a shorter amount of time than he thought to reach the center. Perhaps it was the eerie feel of the air, the way it made him feel nearly claustrophobic that had Warden moving faster, more determined than ever to get through this.
You with me, Tee?
Her voice was gently reprimanding. -- Always, Warden. After almost ten years together, you should know that by now. --
Smiling grimly, Warden made his way around a corner - and there they were, four of the division heads all within viewing distance. But something seemed...not quite right. Rather than look confident, there was distinctly confused sort of air surrounding them.
It was only then that he noticed the dais was empty.
Warden slowed to a stop next to his own division leader.
"What's going on?" he asked quietly Ferdinand quietly. "Where is it?"

[Dead End Zone A]
Miriam tightened her hold on Verdandi as they entered the maze, unsure of what they might face on the other side.
The pressure alone was enough to make her feel a bit sick, taking a few seconds to catch her breath before continuing to look around the area that she'd entered. There didn't seem to be much, if anything, in the immediate area but it as still worth looking around for just a few more minutes just to make sure. They didn't have time to waste, but if somehow the item got over looked it would be the end. Unfortunately, all Miriam was finding was that this was a dead end... Verdandi however was getting increasingly agitated the longer they stayed there.
she hissed, drawing Miri to a stand still. Whatever it was, there was a faint hissing sound coming from somewhere. Hoping that someone else ended up in the same area as herself, or she could find a way out of there before whatever it was decided to attack.

[TRAP ZONE A ENTERING]
This was terrible.
Ralph immediately froze up as he stepped through the portal, brown eyes darting every which way. The atmosphere... It was as if they'd just stepped into a new planet. With glowing green khopesh in hand, the boy's brow furrowed as he clutched his best friend with one hand. Danger was evident. There could be something waiting around every corner... And surprisingly he still wasn't as scared as he could be.
Yeah, that's right. Empty hand reached into his pocket as he clutched the Tamagachi his leader had given him. There was nothing he couldn't do, right? Everything would be okay for him in the end, right? It always had. No reason it wouldn't be now.
Darting off into the seemingly endless maze, it didn't take long for piglet to find himself in a trap. Oh, where was admiral acbar when you needed him? With the nudge of a wall, arrows started to fly around piglet. "********!" He shouted angrily, spinning Simon around in an effort to keep his fleshy body in tact. Oh, but it appeared that one had nicked him... On the knee. (future meme, oh noes)
Dropping to a kneel, the boy examined the gash across his kneecap before reaching in to take out some bandages, temporarily setting his sword to the side.
"Yeah." He didn't mind talking to his weapon out loud. Especially since the only hunters around were also FEAR based.

[ TRAP ZONE B ]
Her gun gleamed softly as she strode into the Labyrinth. Flair’s expression remained unchanged as she felt the pressure increase, pressing against her skin and Hunter uniform. She heard her weapon quietly chuckle in her mind as they both took in the expansive amounts of Fear that surrounded the area. The weapon’s voice echoed, Are you scared yet? Her expression darkened, but she refused to answer the semi-innocent inquiry as she continued to march through the Labyrinth.
The deeper into the Labyrinth she went, the more dark it became. Flair scowled. Well, that was wonderful—“Wait.” She stopped in her tracks when she realized she couldn’t hear anything. Something was wrong. She attempted to kick away at some rocks and once she managed to hear her shoes scuffle against the gravel Flair relaxed somewhat, but there was still something fishy about this situation.
A deep rumbling sound answered her silent questions. She hissed a brief curse under her breath before she made a mad sprint. Although Flair wasn’t sure where to, she figured it would be better than here. She tightly held Glare as she forced her strides to lengthen, willed her legs to move even faster as she felt the walls grow closer and closer.

[LABYRINTH CENTER]
With his backpack slung over his shoulder, Damien raced through the barrier, his weapon drawn and ready as his eyes adjusted to the gloom. He sucked in a deep breath, the pressure on his body was uncomfortable, and a constant reminder that he should move his a** along and not pause. He could not linger in this dammed forsaken hellhole.
"....Sorry" The sun hunter remarked. "I forgot you...er..."
"Can you sense anything?"
He continued his running pace, moving through the darkness, all his senses alert. Soon he came to a stop, and was surpized to see the division leaders all looking around for something. Had he already reached the end of the labyrinth?

[[ ADAM IS NOW IN "DEAD END ZONE B" ]]
Adam heard something emanating from one of the wall openings and he perked, motioning to Isaac. You go that way, I'll go this way. As they split he followed the noise, as it got louder and louder and... disappeared entirely? He reached out and touched stone. Huh...
Trundlebug headset: I've got nothing. A wall. How about you? He was not alone, though. There was the man who had taken the photo, looking just as confused. He half-grinned.

DEAD END ZONE B
Thirty minutes.
::Lexington....::
If possible, upon entering the Labyrinth, Mordy's already sinister voice sounded even more dark and dangerous as he 'hummed' in his mind. A voice that would send chills down the spine of any weak soul. Something he was not. Lex gripped the glaive tighter. For comfort. The sort of comfort a hunter sought that only their weapon could provide.
He'd gotten the text message from Becca. Lex just hadn't had the opportunity to respond back. They'd been given the 'green light' and the mission had begun. Now he had to concentrate on what he was good at. Being a hunter. Doing his job.
Not that he couldn't accomplish this and not bug his two friends.
: biggrin on't let it be a distraction.:: The hellhound hissed warningly. ::I will not let you die because of moronic inattention!::
::Awe, that sounded like you actually care!:: The hellhound merely chuckled and a warm sensation tickled through his mind. Mordy's way of showing affection.
Right time to stop dodling around. He had a job to do. Lex took off, keeping his weapon partially behind him and out of the way as he jogged down the path he was on. Only to slow as he heard...something. What the hell? It was like a whisper. Nothing like the sinister one he heard all day every day. Face falling into a blank mask, Lex followed after it. And found himself at a dead end.
"Well shi~~t." Time to bother Cody!

Billie was surprised by the kiss but just held onto Warden's coat until it was over. She couldn't help a smile but it quickly flipped into a serious frown when he pulled away and slipped into the portal. "You don't get away that easily.." She chuckled. In her head she heard Dekina's thrumming voice. GO."Okay okay.." She laughed for only a moment before she stepped inside and found herself smooshed and morphed and pressed and dissolved and then OH LOOK.. she was here. The air was heavy, pressing against her skin but she wasn't disoriented enough to miss the sight of Warden, steps ahead of her. She'd promised to watch and back and Billie would never break a promise. The moon hunter was faster than her spouse and found it easy to catch up to him. She rounded a corner to find herself in the middle, fairly painless trip to be honest, surrounded by Warden, a few others and the division leads."Told you I had your back." Billie smirked and shouldered up next to Warden. She wasn't a fan of Ferdinand but she had due respect for all of her superiors.
