Ukir kicked at the ground. He hadn’t seen Vi since their little ‘argument’, not that he could blame her. They had gotten into a terrible fight, and well, Ukir was a dumbass and didn’t say the nicest things to her. He should have just kept his mouth shut, and let her go on her own way. But he didn’t. His heart panged from not seeing his golden kitten around. That was the reason he had come back to the lands. He wanted to be with her. Not be in the lands with no one there at his side. Sighing, the dark red lion flopped on the ground. Maybe he should just leave again. It would likely be the best for Vikali, as she would probably never talk to him again. What was the point of staying somewhere that hurt your heart to be?

Vikali let out a deep sigh as she moved through the pridelands. It had been a while since... since she'd last spoken to her son. It had been shortly before then that she'd gotten into a fight with Ukir. He was... truly horrible. Running into that lioness had not helped, it only seemed to confirm that the red lion was now living his life with some little twit in these lands. She hadn't been smart enough to ask for the male's description though, so naturally she'd just assumed it was Ukir. She had said it was a handsome male... and Vikali no longer denied to herself that the red doofus was attractive.
Her tail lashed as the thoughts of him began to surface, then willed them away. With any luck he would be gone from the lands now, having taken his little prize and fled. Maybe he just went around knocking up lionesses and then left them and appeared whenever he felt like it, just to torture them! "Arg! He makes me so mad!" She snarled, to herself. But, as luck would have it... she was about to run into the very male she was thinking of. Literally she actually was about to walk right into him, he was laying just ahead of him.
She stopped short, her eyes meeting his. Her expression was slightly dumbfounded. Why the hell did the universe always do this to her?

Ukir heard a snarl from nearby, and couldn’t help but look up. Seemed that was a bad idea, because there Vikali was, stopping just near him with an almost flabbergasted look on her face. He couldn’t help but smirk at it, but it dropped soon after, deciding to ignore the female for the time being.
He needed to think. What should he do? Should he continue to ignore her? Or say something. But then how would she take it? She’d probably ream him a new one if he even said a word to him. Then again, staying silent would probably cause her to get quite angry too. Oh he was stuck in a catch-22.
Deciding to just try it, the male rolled over on his side, put his head on the ground, and spoke in his normal tone. “Vikali.” There was no hello, good morning, how’s the weather. It was just her name.

Well. Well. He certainly was feeling fine, wasn't he? Just the one simple word, her name, from his mouth... it made her heart hurt. Well! She wouldn't put up with that! Two could play the game of being civil, right? "Ukir." But even though she was trying, his name still came out with a hint of hatred in it. "I trust your new play thing is doing well?" Less hatred, but still negative. She couldn't help it, she was insanely jealous over whoever this female was. She had half the mind to follow him one day and just tear the girl limb from limb!
But now she was just making things painfully awkward, wasn't she? And they would get into an argument, like always. She hated that... why couldn't things just go properly? Like... normally! But he'd hurt her so much... she couldn't understand how any lion would be able to play such horrible and cruel jokes on another, like he had. "Any signs of her getting fat? You might want to think about heading out into the bright big world of rogues then, I hear you're quite good at that." Her tone was heavily inflicted with sarcasm, and again she could not help her words. She wanted him to understand... to feel bad, to know what he did! But she also didn't want to fully come out and say it to him.

New play thing? Ah, so she still remembered that little…incident he had told her about meeting the new lioness. Well, who was to blame her, he was sure he’d remember something like that too. He gave her a shrug, before rising to his feet. While he would just ignore the lioness, she kept talking to him. He just had to answer her. But the last question of hers confused the lion. “What?” What had Vikali mean, any signs of her getting fat? Ukir was dense, but sometimes he was too dense. If he would have realized the what the lioness was saying was partly what had happened between the two of them, he wouldn’t have been so confused. “I…” his head tilted, curious just exactly what she meant. He’d figure to stay silent and let her elaborate a bit more.

For ever time Ukir had ever opened his big, fat mouth she was surprised at how talkative he wasn't being right then. It mad her feel... like something was wrong. She couldn't quite place it... but if they couldn't have a normal conversation they could always have an argument! And now he wouldn't even allow her that?
And the only thing he questioned was the part that was understandable to misunderstand. She wanted to smack him across the head. "Fat Ukir. Pregnant." She spit the words, her brow furrowing. Wasn't he going to get mad? Make a joke of something? Poke fun at her?
She was surprised how awkward it made her feel that he wasn't. And it hadn't been like that one night they'd spent together all those moons ago... that sort of lack of argument had been... nice. Was he just... giving up? He was that sick of her? All of the insecurities had pushed worry and pain onto Vi's face, as well as a heavy look of confusion that was almost mirroring Ukir's. "You really don't care, do you?" And she sounded shocked, shocked to admit that out loud. And believe it, because what else could she believe?

…Oh…Well, when she said that, now he understood what she meant. But Ukir believed he would be a good father! He would never up and leave a female if he knew she was pregnant! There was something Vikali wasn’t telling him, and Ukir was sure he would get to the bottom of it during this conversation. In fact, he even began with: “I would never leave a lioness knowing that she was pregnant.” He didn’t know he had children to begin with! It wasn’t as if he was some flirtatious male that would get a female every night. He wasn’t like that! “Care about what?” he seethed lightly, not wanting to get angry, but it just happened to be that way. His voice hesitated, stopping himself from making a stupid error and saying that he would never care for her, if that is what she was referring to…but he didn’t. Ukir was learning more and more how to hold his tongue. Silence struck before the male spoke once more. “I do care.” He cared about life, these lands, and most of all the gold and black lioness standing in front of him. He just…couldn’t specify just now what he meant. Maybe, just maybe, it wouldn’t need to be said.

Right. Maybe he'd never leave her knowing she was pregnant... but he still had left! He'd still just... played his stupid game and went! Vikali tried to remember if she'd seen him after that night. Had she avoided him? Had he avoided her? It had been so long that she wasn't sure of the circumstances... just that... "You left me!" She snapped, then her eyes widened. Crap. She needed to cover that up! No, wait! She hadn't said she'd been pregnant... but she sort of implied it, hadn't she? Fine. She guessed it was just time to make him feel like a horrible lion... because that was the only thing she was able to do, right? "E-even if you hadn't known! Y-you just up an left!" She made it sound like he'd up and killed the king's babies her voice was so full of equal parts hurt and hate.
So... so it didn't matter if he said he cared, he didn't even know what she was talking about! And her words had just proved he didn't care what she wanted him to care about! She pressed a paw to her head, trying to take a deep breath. Why was she even telling him any of this? It was painful... and embarrassing and... and she felt guilty too, for whatever reason. "You don't care thought Ukir.." She practically whispered those words. "You don't care a freaking bit about me, right? This was all some stupid game, right? You shouldn't have come back! Do you know how hard it was to... to... to get back to some semblance of feeling normal?" She stared down at her paws, for once her honesty did not come with shouting and anger, just in quiet embarrassment.
Haha, there she was... the shamed lioness who'd foolishly fallen for the most incompatible lion ever! Surely the gods were laughing it up. Every. Single. Day. "And you... you just came here... to tell me about... what, your new girl? A new game you've started up? I got too boring for you?" What was she even saying? "Two boys Ukir. Two wonderful boys... and... and..." And she'd probably never see them either, as they'd gone on with their lives too.

“Well…Yes…I did…but it wasn’t like…you…were…” Ukir drifted off as if realization had finally hit him! …Vikali had been pregnant when he had taken off? But…he had only been with her the…one time. It couldn’t be! If the crimson lion was ever at a time where he was lost for words, right now was it! Here the lion was, insisting that he had never had cubs, and then if he had, he would do the right thing and step up to be a father figure to them. But look, he assumed that since it had been so many moons ago, that whatever children he did have were well grown. “I…I do care!” He argued. He cared every bit! If he had known that the lioness was indeed with child, he would have stayed! Raise them just like a family should! But there was no way to know that was going to happen just after. “…Two boys?” he whispered after a moment, flopping to the ground in a sit. Reality had just hit him, and hard.

When he finally drifted off from his words and seemed to realize the meaning behind her words she could help but feel a little... well she wasn't sure exactly. It wasn't a happy feeling, but... maybe it was just the fact that it was all finally out in the open? But what did that change? And why hadn't he commented on the girl he was suddenly seeing? Right... no... the bomb she'd just dropped on him was probably taking up all of his mind at the moment.
She stared at him as he insisted he cared, but she didn't know what to say to it. Obviously it was a lie, he'd never once seemed to care. Well, maybe on that night... dammit! No, she wasn't going to start tricking her mind into believing this crap again! She couldn't! It was too painful for this sort of thing... why did she even bother telling him? No, that wasn't fair. He had every right to know... now that he was finally back.
Well... that certainly had it's effect on him. He looked... stunning. Vikali felt guilty and smug all at once, being the cause of it. She wasn't sure what to say, or do. But the overwhelming urge to tell him about the boys... but did he deserve to know that sort of thing? "Suoh and Kilo." She said softly. "Kilo looks just like many of the pride landers with a beautiful golden coat... his mane grew in lovely and red." Not as red as Ukir's coat, though. "And Suoh! His pelt is dark like my mothers... but his paws, that red comes from you. And his mane..." She trailed off as her bright blue eyes lingered on Ukir's mane, making it obvious who Suoh had taken after. She suddenly looked very upset. It had been hard raising those boys... hard in a different way entirely than when she'd raised her first four by herself. She'd loved them dearly, but she'd never loved their father. She swallowed and slowly sat down.
"Why... did you leave then?" She was only able to whisper the question, afraid of the answer as she was. But she had to know, she had to put an end to this madness in her mind!

Ukir took in the names. Suoh and Kilo. He could only imagine what they looked like from the description that Vikali gave. He knew how a lot of the lions in the pride looked. They were golden, with the bright reddish mane and tail tuft. He was sure that his son had gotten those markings from Vikali’s side of the family, for Ukir’s father and mother held no golden tones to them. The other one, a darker pelt, just like her mothers? Ukir had never met Vi’s mother before, so in his mind he just pictures a dark, perhaps black pelt. He couldn’t believe that this was true, but Vikali really had no reason to lie to him. For some reason, he knew she had been telling the truth. Then there was that question he had been dreading. Why had he left? All he could do was shrug. “I just…had too.” It wasn’t an answer, but it wasn’t the male trying to avoid the subject either. Ukir had never been one for pride life, and although the two lions shared the one night of compassion towards each other, he really had no other reason to stay. Vikali had expressed how much he was disliked, and so had Ukir to her. He paused, thinking his next words carefully. “I…just needed to find something?” Something to make him see the light, to show him where he needed to be. He hadn’t found it out in the rogue lands, but sure enough, hitting the Pridelands once more made that emptiness in his heart fill up.

So. So he had nothing to say about them? He didn't even want to meet them? Look at him! How could he not want to meet them? She was being paranoid! No, what if he was disgusted that he'd created life with her of all lions? Vi swallowed hard when that thought popped into her head, and nothing else she thought would get rid of it. He was going to leave again, wasn't he? He couldn't stand to be here! He was going to go live his happy life with his new girl and just... and just laugh at this information!
Well. Maybe not laugh... he seemed very upset. Or stunned, rather. Vikali frowned and stared down at his paws. He just had to leave? "You hated me that much." She said, her voice a mixture of wonder and sheer firmness, because she knew her own words to be true. She hated herself. She hated this. Her ears flicked at his 'second' reason. It didn't quite match up... what the hell did he need to find, treasure?!
She didn't know what else to say... she'd told him so... that was it, right? "I'd say come meet them... but they've both left the lands." They had their father's taste for traveling, for sure. "Uhm... I'm going to go now. Then." Well. At least she wasn't trying to leave in the middle of an argument, right? But it was shattering her heart all over... she just wanted to live her life here in the pridelands with Ukir. Even if it meant screaming at one another every day!

“No, I think it was more the other way around. You are the one that hated me.” He said softly, not looking the lioness in the eye. Ah, he knew it! Of course when he had come back to the lands, the lions had already gone. Maybe one day he would be able to meet them again. “I uh…guess…I will see you around?” The lion said weakly, still shocked at the news he had just endured. Never had the lion before felt he was such an a*****e until now. He had to make it up to the lioness someway…he just didn’t know how. One he would, he would promise himself that. If there was one thing the red lion did do, was keep his promises. He wouldn’t let the golden one down again.
