Welcome to The Role Player's Guide If you're new: before you do anything else, I suggest you read the guild rules.Help Keep Our Forum Clean If you want to post your own off-topic threads, please do so in our OOC Forum. Thanks! This is a thread where you can introduce yourself to other members, both experienced role-players and beginners. Here you can tell other members a little about you and your experience in role-playing, but feel free to get as off-topic as you like! All we ask is that you play nice! Palantine To start things off, I'm Palantine. But you can also call me Pal ( to be confused with pal), or P ( completely ambiguous) if you like. I prefer scifi or fantasy RPs, but I've been known to play in others as well. I've been role-playing nearly as long as I've been writing, and to keep the mystery, I'll let you guess how long that's been. wink Unfortunately, due to other matters I've been away from the writing board for a while, and I'm hoping to ease back into things again. I may post some guides here and there, as well as some exercises to help others (and myself) practice. I've always enjoyed teaching others when I can, so I'm excited to see where the Guide goes. I'm currently employed as a programmer, and that keeps me busy when I'm not writing. See you on the forums!

Hello everyone~
I'm lunaveea, but you can call me veea haha wink I've been roleplaying for a while now, but then I dropped out and switched to writing. There was a long period of time which I found myself off of gaia, but now I'm back and hopefully going to stay active longer so that I don't miss out on all of the lovely roleplaying that gaia's forums offer. I think that I'm able to RP almost anything, but I'll lean toward romance with a preference to yaoi if I get a choice haha.
I also have way too much free time on my hands, so if anyone wants to practice or just RP for fun or whatever, throw some PM's and ideas my way and we'll talk about it together xp . I mostly RP lit (2-3 paragraphs) but I get lazy sometimes so they'll go down to a paragraph. Or maybe the opposite will happen and I'll end up writing you a novel haha. Either way, it doesn't really matter to me so let's RP together, yeah?~ wink

Hihi! ;O. I are cat. err be err whatever you wanna use there ;d. I tend to add a lot of emoticons or faces when i talk, so don't mind me >w<, i got used to it, and it's easier to convey what i want to convey with the faces ^^. And so let's see.....i've been rping for as long as i've been on gaia and more, and i've been on gaia for a loong time owo compared to other people...i guess? XD. I like to consider myself oldstyle lit, or basically at least 1k posts normally, unless i'm lazy and in a lax rp which would equate to about 3 paragraphs = .5k approx. I basically give back what i'm given, so you give me 10, i'll give you at least 10.
But besides that, i'm free for any questions, i'll normally be on near the night EST, but occasionally i'll be off. I don't bite ;d so don't worry *W* and come hither >D. I'm bad with creating formats because i have to have an image in my head, but either way, i can help with coding your formats and making them pretty ;3 but just don't ask me about graphics =____= because i'm still learning/failing myself XD;;;. But anyways...i'll see you guys around ;O...hopefully.
edited ;d --> i totally forgot to include what i normally do ;O.... i can play either gender, and it tends to depend on the storyline of the rp that i'm joining. If the plot is interesting, i'll join = basically how i work. I'd like to think i've covered a bunch of genres, including sci-fi, fantasy, horror, romance.... owo and some others

Hi I'm Shyness also known as Shy or Elyse I guess... although that's my real name and no one ever really uses it on here. I've been taking part in Role Plays for a few years now although I took a break for awhile and I want to get started again. I enjoy almost any type of Role Play, I really enjoy role plays where characters are based off of nursery rymes and classic novels as well as when chacters are allowed to be protrayed a little Kookie. Things that anger me in role plays is when a character is protrayed with a mental disorder or illness but the creator of the character has done no research on the illness, therefore making big mistakes and assumptions about what ther illness is like. I am the same about pregnancies and pretty much everything... If you want to flaunt a character with such things you should do research and learn so you can make your character so much stronger. I'm not sure what literacy level I am in roleplays simply because my grammar apears to be so horride literate to semi literate Role Players want nothing to do with me, while Role Plays with people who only write a few sentences anger me... I'm the awkward stuck inbetween which is why I'm here to develope my skills. Stepping away from Role Playing, I'm in my last year of high school and excited to go to college to start my social working program. I'm actualy quite shy hense my username but I can be friendly and talkitive, you just have to make the first move. I'm looking fowrd to developing my writing skills and roleplaying some more.

Hey there! I'm Golden_Hyperbole. You, dear peoples, can call me Luna. It's the first name of my pen name [because who in their right mind would give out their real information on the internet?] and the first name of one of my favorite magical characters.
Well . . . I've been on Gaia for a few years now . . . on a couple of different accounts, actually. I'm an aspiring writer and artist, and maybe one day soon an aspiring animator as well. I've probably been role playing here for as long as I've been online.
I took a break from everything last year to, I dunno, wrap my head around the world I guess. But now, I'm back and I'm trying to get back in the one thing that really helps get rid of stress and build skill. The wonderful world of role playing.
I've had an idea to do some sort of tutorial thing for my fellow role players for a year or so now. And I'm proud to say that with the help of my esteemed crew and vice captains, I think that we can actually pull this off.
So, feel free to take a look around, and enjoy this hopefully fruitful experience! Thanks for joining, and thanks for the faith.
-- Luna

Hey! [/waves happily] I'm special agent everest, but you can call me Evie or Ev or even Agent, I'm not terribly picky.
I've been on Gaia for almost 4 years now? It's been quite a while. My roleplaying skills have improved drastically over the years, from three-sentence posts to three paragraphs. My most memorable roleplaying experience would have to been Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, created by EbGirl. That truly shaped my roleplaying.
I'm not as long to this site as I used to be, but I've start to get back into roleplaying again, so that's all dandy! When I'm not roleplaying, I write in my spare time, have NO drawing skills and have some background in game design (RPGMaker VX).
Well, I've wasted my words on this introduction: let my attempts at literary genius speak for me!

Gooooooooooood Mooooooooorning Everyone!
Now that I have your attention (probably) I'll get on with the intro. I'm OmgIisonfiyah (PRONOUNCED: Oh-Em-Jee-I-Iz-On-Fie-Yah) There, you have no excuse to get it wrong (unless you skimmed this post, in which case you will feel my wrath soon enough.) Moving on: I am actually the Captain's biological brother (she can deny it all she wants) and she is actually the one who got me start Roleplaying (Had she not, I would not have bothered with Gaia as much as I have, probably). I haven't been on any hiatuses or sabbaticals, at most I'm gone for a few days because I get busy or lose track of the time.
As for RP preferences, I like a good storyline, decent bit of action and above all, people who know their grammar. (But you can hear me rant about that later.) Anyway, that's about it, if you have any questions you should either quote me or PM me, that guarantees a response.

Oi!
I'm finquest, but you can just call me Fin. That'll suffice.
I've been roleplaying for quite a few years now. Let's see. I'm twenty-two now, and started around thirteen or fourteen. Holy crap. Nine years, give or take. I'll admit I don't like to count the first couple years, though. They were full of asterisks and one liners, and I'd like to think I've moved past that quite a bit.
I've been on Gaia for just as long, actually. It was Barton Town that got me really heavily into roleplaying, and I just haven't been able to stop. I've had a couple of hiatuses (Hiati? Haiti? Sweet.) that I've gone on, but don't plan on taking anymore anytime soon.
My preferences to roleplays tend to lean more towards fantasy during any time period (though I'm bigger into medieval/renaissance), steampunk, science-fiction, and horror. I consider myself of average "literacy", and usually function well when I'm mirroring the length of my partner's posts. I'll admit I haven't had much experience with group roleplays.
I like action, a bit of well-paced romance, and good sentence structure. That last bit'll probably be ironic. I've probably butchered commas or something in this, I'm sure.
Well, I've probably gone on too long now. Feel free to shoot a PM or something my way anytime.
~Fin

Welcome to the Guide! surprised I like your choice of genres. So you do mostly one-on-ones huh? I tried it once a long time ago, but had to abort because my schedule flipped on me. It was fun, though I definitely felt more pressure to keep the pace up. Maybe we can get you some practice with group role-plays, eh?

gaia_spoons yum_strawberry yum_tea Hello everyone! I'm Julie, but feel free to call me Ping. :) I'm a highschool student with roughly three years experience in roleplaying, having traveled through many genres until I found my nitch in romance & drama settings. I haven't roleplayed much in the past year, but I hope to get back into it as it is a great way to work on your writing and to relieve stress (even though it sometimes causes it!).
My main goals in this guild is to improve my character dialouge, and to write as a male character, since roleplays are ever in so much need of them.
Besides role playing my interests lay in all things British. British actors, British T.V. Shows , British Music, British men- most of these extend out into the U.K. in general! I also have a profound interest in the ocean and under-water life in general, and aspire to be a Marine Biologist when I grow older.

That'd be nice, actually. I guess my apprehension to them has to do with being afraid of not being able to keep up with the flow. I tried a group roleplay or two in the past and always felt pressured with them. I may have just been in bad roleplays, who knows.

Pleasure having you along, Ping. surprised We certainly hope to provide a place where you can get things back into gear. And hopefully you won't get stressed from role-playing again! Marine biology, huh? I hope you can do it in a place that's warm, because I'd hate to end up in the (ant)arctic somewhere. whee

...And no thankyou! I hate hot weather, icky, icky, icky. I live in northern New England and I'd love to keep studying in places similar :) Ocean life up here just as interesting as tropical waters, even if it may not appear to be. yum_tea yum_strawberry gaia_spoons

Haha, and that's how I felt about one-on-ones. I never wanted to keep the other person waiting. But yes, it's always kind of a hit-or-miss thing with group role-plays. I've been in some that would have several pages of posts a day, and some that barely got a few posts in during a week. Sometimes it just takes a while to find a group of people who share a similar schedule.

I guess I'm just not much of one for sub-zero temperatures. surprised Yeah, I've heard that. And it seems they keep finding all kinds of new creatures down there in the antarctic waters. Would you want to study deep-sea life?
