 Taja had spent what seemed like short of forever exploring the dark woods of the eastern lands. This was in part due to the depression she had been sent into due to the loss of her mate, but the pain she felt was getting better now that she had excepted that he was never coming back to her. The notion still very much hurt her heart, but the pain was getting more and more bearable and even at times less noticeable. When she had realized that she no longer needed the company that the darkness held she decided to venture across the lands until she felt more at home. This had led her to the jungle to the far west.
Since coming to this new land she found herself leaving her sadness further and further behind. A smile was now present on her muzzle most days. Taja could now be found more out in the open, willing and waiting for someone to interact with. Someone she could open up to and practice actually talking to others.
This had led her to the beach that was just outside of the jungles reaches. She had wanted some much needed sun and was also curious to know if anyone would be out wandering today. The sun was shining brightly above and the snow had apparently not reached this end of the world yet. Maybe it never would. Although, she wasn't really complaining. After almost a year with no sun and hardly even surviving at all it was a very nice and welcome change. Taja pursed her lips together as she looked at herself in the ocean. Her facial features seemed to be a bit more sunken in then she remembered them being before, but she knew that the past year she had probably looked much worse. Upon further inspection she found that her eyes had small bags under eyes. Slightly frustrated with how horrible she looked she turned herself from the sea and focused her eyes on the grains of sand. After a few moments she noticed a small shell sticking out of the sand. Curiously she nudged it with her hoof until it was loose. Using her teeth she pulled it out of the sand, setting it down on it's surface gently. "It's... Beautiful." She said with a smile.

So, here he was bolting across the beach, sure footed, and enjoying the flinging sensation that the damp sand had as his flat out speed kicked up chunks of the stuff. His white mane and tail whipping around him, and the bells on the rose in his hair, jingling, and echoing over the beach, though it was only a small noise, hardly noticeable above the thundering hoof beats.
As he continued he passed right by a mare who was looking into the water. The distraction of her presence was enough to cause his footing to be slightly less sure, one hoof slipping at the worst moment possibly, and sending him flailing into the sand, a huge wave of it displaced by his body hitting the ground and skidding to a stop. He laid there for a few moments, breathing hard, and mentally checking to see if there was anything he'd broken, his fluffy ears twitching wildly, and odd colored eyes staring at nothing. Great...slight miscalculations lead to terrible accidents...nothing broken though...

With curious eyes Taja looked at the stallion that was now laying in the sand after what seemed to be a nasty little trip. Slowly she made her way over to him, checking to see if he had any injuries that needed attending to. When she was finally standing before his face she deduced that he seemed fine, but depending on what type of stallion he was he could have a bit of a bruised ego. With a cautious smile she looked down at the stallions remarkable purple eyes. "Hello there." She said, trying to be friendly but not overly accepting at the same time. After all who knew what went on in a stallions head.
Then again, looking at him he really didn't look like he was going to cause her much harm. "Are you alright?" She asked, gently nosing his neck to try and urge him to get up and maybe even double check that he was indeed okay. "My name's Taja." She spokes softly, the smile returning to her muzzle. "I couldn't see any scrapes on you, but then again, one can never truely know just by quickly looking." Taja added, referring to that he may have scrapes she can't see or again, a bruised ego.

Keary was almost sighing as he realized his fumble had been noticed, not because it was witnessed, or because of pride, but because the presence had distracted him enough that it caused him to fall on his face. Mentally he was calculating exactly what went wrong as his breathing calmed. The hello from the mare went unanswered for the time being as he was caught up with the math of the situation.
So caught up in fact that he nearly yelped when a nose touched his neck, her giving a name, which he caught despite being startled, he stuttered a bit, "K--Keary." Then proceeded to shift away and get back to his hooves. Shaking off the sand from his mane and tail, one purple and one green eye stared at her, granted his green one was hidden under all that hair of his, but he smiled back at her and cleared out his nervous tendencies.
"Ah, no, nothing scraped, no broken bones, and no injured pride or ego as most would assume. Only slightly perplexed by the miscalculation on my part as to the tension of the sand and the disbursement of my weight via the hooves on it." There was a sheepish grin, "Er...putting it more..simply wondering what exactly caused my face plant on the beach." He then realized he'd only given his first name and not the whole thing, his mother's words ringing in his ears, "Let me start over a little, Keary Oralee, pleasure to make your acquaintance, Taja." He bowed his head in greeting, the bells on his roses jingling lightly as he did so.

As the stallion laid there not answering her question she wondered if he was deaf or if he was really hurt, mentally. And then came the response, his name, as he replied he stood up and shook himself of the sand. Taja was surprised by just how large he was. It had been some time since she had seen a stallion so it wasn't that big of a shock that she couldn't remember just how larger they were then mares. At least in most cases.
When the male continued she was surprised by how... well intelligent he was. As she listened to him talk she nodded. "It's nice to meet you Keary Oralee." She said with a polite smile, taken off guard by his bow. "I think everyone has those moments where they... fumble." Taja replied in an attempt to make it seem less bad. "But I'm glad you're ego isn't bruised, nor the rest of you." She added.
Her olive eyes blinked a couple times as she tried to figure out what to do. Since she had been away in the forest for a year she found herself confused and a bit nervous. Had it always been this hard to talk to another soquili? She didn't think it had, but then again, that seemed like forever ago. "What is it that brought you here to the beach in the first place?" Taja boldly asked, trying to make an attempt at conversation. She needed to practice talking to others again and she hoped this stallion would stay and keep her company for at least a bit.
