A nervous green buck hesitantly approached a gnarled apple tree, glancing left and right for any sign of fellow Kimeti--any at all. Lately it seemed he always met the worst goats whenever he wanted to have some of his favorite fruit in peace; but surely this tree, with its wrinkly, worm-eaten apples, would not invite any uncomfortable company. Cautiously, he leaned forward and took a bite from one of the least-unappealing apples on the tree, cringing at its bitterness, and looked around hesitantly again. Nobody had appeared to harass him, so he continued pecking at the apples on the tree happily. From behind a distant bush, a filly watched the buck with interest, her tail swishing from side-to-side eagerly. He definitely looked like an anxious, nervous type, the kind that would be so fun to abuse. In fact, in some ways he appeared to resemble her companion, she thought, licking her lips and inching forward ever so slightly. The perfect adult for playing games. She turned to the younger foal next to her, gesturing with her ear. "Look at this buck! Doesn't he just look like the funnest?"

A small colt crouched beside her, ears laid back nearly flat against his skull. He looked a bit younger than her, but he had an air about him like a small puppy whose owner was not particularly kind. The filly was the only friend he had known in his short life, and he was well wrapped around her hoof. He shivered a bit. When Sun got that look in her eye, it meant trouble. Usually for other people. "Oh... yeah. Super fun." He tried to sound enthusiastic, and mostly succeeded. At least he wasn't the target. But now he felt sorry for the green buck eating gross apples. If only he knew. "Uh... maybe we should just say hi... I'm feeling kinda tired..."

Midnight Sun rolled her eyes at her companion's reluctance. "Come on!" she insisted. "We're just going to play with him a little bit!" Impatiently, she stood up, deaf to any further protest, and crept up to the green buck quietly.
"Hi there," Sun said loudly, startling the buck so badly that he dropped the apple he was eating. He gave her a nervous look, but she continued. "The apples here aren't very good, are they? They're all pruny and full of worms." The filly kicked a fallen apple carelessly in the buck's direction, and he shifted uncomfortably when it hit his foot.
"What...err, what do you want? Don't you have...parents or something?" Bite looked around, but the only other Kimeti he could see was the filly's awkward friend.
"No," the filly crooned as she sidled closer to Bite. "We're all alone here."

Burns stuck his bright head out of the bush, glancing between Bite and the predatory Sun. "Uh... well, I don't mean to be a bother, but... I mean, that's not entirely accurate because, well, I'm here, so... um, if you're trying to insinuate a certain level of privacy..." He scratched nervously at the loamy soil with one hoof, unable to continue. He knew his presence had very little effect on whether Sun would get into mischief or not. But, well, he could hope. This seemed like it could get very awkward very quickly.

There was an awkward silence. Sun's stillness was only magnified by the irritated twitch of her tail. "You're doing it wrong!" she hissed at Burns. "Look, just wait over there, and jump out of the bush when I give the signal, ok?" Bite could hear her perfectly well, but he felt paralyzed, unable to avoid whatever was coming.
Midnight Sun turned back to her quarry, nuzzling up against his neck. "Oh, you're such a strooooong buck. Just what I always wanted..."
Bite stepped away from her suddenly. "I, uh, this is wr-wrong, I don't want...no, I don't like you."

Burns ducked his head back into the bush with a pitiful groan, lashing his tail in the dirt. Lacking much else to do in Sun's grand scheme, he ate some leaves.
"This... this bush isn't even that great," he mumbled around a mouthful. Truthfully, it was a thin and scraggly sort of bush. Not really good for ambushing. In fact there were a great many holes in this plan. What was the goal? What was he going to do after he jumped out of the bush? Bite the poor buck? What good would that even do?
Sullenly, Burns lay in the dirt, waiting uncomfortably. Oh, how he wanted to say something... He bit his tongue.

"You don't like me?" Midnight Sun pouted at him, but continued to slink closer. "But I like you. You shouldn't say no to a lady, you know...?"
The hapless buck could only keep backing away from her, stuttering nothing intelligible in response.
