"This is hopeless..." Selene was walking fast down a hallway, it's been a week since she has been at the Rocket HQ. Yet she still got lost. She heard her Aron right behind her. He didn't care for his ball much so he was out whenever he was aloud to be. She came into a huge room and looked around... Vehicles... Storage crates... Oh no... "ARON!" "Laerdan!! No!!" But it was too late, the Aron spotted a cluster of Iron beams. She chased him and grabbed onto his shell. But her weight could easily be pulled, so she was taken for a ride by the excited, apparently hungry Pokemon.

With a crash both trainer and Pokemon we in the pile. Selene cringed as the echo from the crash rang in the seemingly empty room. She looked over at Laerdan who was munching away at one of the beams. "Laerdan! Please! I have stuff at my room for you!" Apparently the Iron bars weren't enough for the him. She tried with all she had to pry him off of the beam.

"Hm?" A young man looked up from a corner of the room, apparently having been putting away some of the tools scattered around. Upon seeing the new Rocket and her small steel-type, he hesitated before he realized what was going on. Quickly dropping what was in his hands, he hurried over to help the young lady. Something about the Trainee's inability to control her pokemon seemed startlingly familiar to him.

"Laerdan," Grunt Shadow spoke up sternly, assuming that was the pokemon's name. He went over to the pokemon itself as he doubted he could have helped Selene much with trying to pry it off the beams by force. Crouching down, he looked the Aron straight in its big, blue eyes. "That's not for you. If you eat that, this place could come crashing down around us and hurt your trainer. You don't want that, do you?"

When another came to help them she was instantly embarrassed. She couldn't control her Pokemon. She listened to the other talk to Laerdan. Who looked between herself, the iron beam, and the other Rocket. "Aron..." She was shocked to see him unlatch his jaws from the beam and waddle over to her side.

"...Thanks." Selene got up and adjusted herself. She knew she would have some bumps from the crash, but she would be ok. "Uhm... I can fix that." At least she thought she could. It was just a few bites, she could smelt the iron she had for Laerdan and fix the beam.

The grunt, relieved to see that the steel-type had understood him, tried to smile a little at the Aron to assure him that he wasn't angry with him. "There's a good pokemon," he praised Laerdan softly, feeling a little foolish when said pokemon's trainer spoke up.

"Oh, no problem," the male Rocket replied, scratching the back of his neck. "These things happen all the time; especially with new pokemon. Are you alright? That looked like quite a fall." He took a quick look over her to see if she was hurt anywhere before he realized the girl was more concerned with something else. He glanced in the direction of the damage.

"That? Don't worry about that. I'm sure there's a bunch of specialized architects and construction Rockets around here who are used to pokemon taking chunks out of their work." He smiled at her warmly. "I'm sure they'll fix it up in no time." The grunt dusted his hands off on his pants and held one out to the trainee in a proper greeting.

"I'm Shadow. Er, 'Grunt' Shadow to be specific, but just 'Shadow' is fine. Haven't seen you around here before. Are you a new recruit?" He glanced at her uniform, recognizing it as the standard one all trainees were required to wear, before shifting his gaze back to Laerdan. "Heh...pokemon sure take some getting used to, don't they? This little guy really seems to like you, though."

Laerdan loved the attention from the other trainer. He affectionately nudged at the other. The little pokemon wasn't used to being held so it was nice for a change.

"I'm fine really, just a few lumps but it's nothing to worry about."
She returned with a soft smile. She too glanced over at the chunks out of the wall. "Are you sure? Laerdan can get a bit antsy around meal time, I found him at a construction site so it may have been an act of revenge." She chuckled a bit.

Selene gave the Grunt a proper hand shake, her father always told her that a firm confident hand shake said a lot about a person, she never knew if it was true but she always did it the way he taught her. "Selene, I am new, Trainee." She clicked the heel of her boots. "Some do yes. He is the first I have obtained on my own, and he wasn't wild when I got him either." She shrugged. "I'm glad he likes me, he kind suckered me in with those big blues of his." She laughed as Laerdan looked up at the two, he knew he was being talked about.

"Well, here, why don't we stop by the kitchen and get some ice for those?" Shadow offered. "Maybe we can find some appropriate metal-flavored pokefood for Laerdan here while we're at it. And yeah, don't worry about it," he assured her, waving a careless hand at the wall. "Heh, a construction site, huh? That's an odd place for a wild pokemon."

"Nice grip you got there, Selene" he said with a grin, noticing the strength of her handshake. "Pleasure to meet you. That's pretty cool that you got him on your own. I don't think I've ever caught a pokemon myself, stupid as that sounds." With a sheepish laugh, he paused and cocked his head. "He wasn't wild? Did he belong to someone else before, then?"

"Yup, those blue eyes look like they can do some damage," the grunt admitted, patting the Aron on the head before walking towards the room's exit. "C'mon. I'll show you guys where the kitchen is. It's a good place to know as a trainee - otherwise you get stuck with cafeteria food the whole time." He held open the door for the pair, gesturing for them to go ahead.

"Alright, thanks." Food did sound nice. There were so many doors and corridors. She never knew which one was right so it was good to know which one was right. She made a mental note to herself: Take a right at Laerdan's bite and its right there.

"Hehe, My father taught me well." She smiled but deep down a twinge went off. "He did. This guy was supposed to eat the old damaged stuff, and help move things but he didn't care to eat rusted beams, so when the new ones weren't being watched he took the chance and bit right in. Needless to say, his owner wasn't very happy with him.... So I took him off his hands."

Selene happily followed Shadow to the kitchen. She despised cafeteria food, she didn't mind cooking, perhaps she could repay the favor of helping her with a nice fresh home-made lunch.

"No problem. They like to give a lot of orders here, and though there's plenty of people to tell you when to work, no one remembers to tell you when to eat, sleep, or take a break. That's just something you have to figure doing yourself." Glancing over his shoulder at her, Shadow smirked. "Some Rockets never do."

"Your father, huh?" he repeated, wondering vaguely if Selene's father would ever have guessed his daughter would be using what he taught her among the company of a group of criminals. "That's cool. You guys still keep in touch?" In spite of the personal nature of the question, he couldn't help but feel curious. "Er, sorry. You don't have to answer that. I wasn't thinking."

"Ha! So you were misbehaving long before you got here?" the grunt asked the aron, casting him a wry grin. "Nice of Selene to take you in. I guess here's as good a place as any for someone who likes breaking rules. Still, you gotta know which ones to break, or else you might just end up regretting your actions."

As they reached the private kitchen the teen had once discovered by accident, he held open the door for Selene. "You might want to go first to make sure there's no tempting metal tidbits out and about for this guy to chew on." He crouched down once more by Laerdan to keep him company by the door, allowing his trainer to go in ahead. "Just let us know when the coast is clear."

She chuckled. "Hopefully they are smart enough to feed themselves. That shouldn't be a superior's responsibility." Selene looked about the kitchen it seemed well stocked. The only think that would look edible to Laerdan was a few pots and pans, luckily they were out of reach. "It's safe."

When the Grunt mentioned the closeness of her father she fell silent. "Well... Not as much as we used to." So far her getting wanting to find more information on his whereabouts was failing. "And it's alright...." Speaking of keeping in touch, maybe she should consider writing to her mother.

She shook off the guilt she felt and hid it with a smile, it was an awkward one, but it was still a smile. "Are you hungry? I can make us something." She watched the Aron waddle in and look about. He spotted the pots and pans but didn't bother, they were out of his reach.

"You'd be surprised," Shadow replied, smiling half seriously. "Some get so engrossed in their work that they forget everyday necessities. I've seen it happen." At Selene's clearance, the grunt entered the room, allowing Laerdan to follow.

"Huh. Sorry to hear that," he answered, looking genuinely sorry. Perhaps it hadn't been such a smart topic to bring up after all, but it seemed safe to say the girl really cared for her family and that they cared for her. "Do you...mind me asking what made you decide to join Team Rocket? And now, of all times?"

Noticing the guilt a moment too late, he grimaced at the thoughtlessness of his question and hurried to change the subject. "Oh, yeah, sure. I'm always hungry," he admitted with a chuckle, opening up a few cabinets to get some plates and cups down. He retrieved a pokemon bowl and a sack in a cupboard that was marked for steel-types. Filling the bowl with pokemon food, he set it on the ground for Laerdan to eat.

"You can't be the one doing all the work, though; you just got here. Let me help." Opening the fridge, he spotted some sandwich ingredients and brought those out. "What do you like?"

"Hmmm... I hope I never get that busy. I may not look it but I like to eat." She laughed a bit. She was happy there was something for Laerdan to eat. It seemed like he was enjoying it too. She would have to bring some back with her.

"I have my reasons... As does anyone for joining Rocket..." She looked over at the ingredients. "What about... A BLT?" She grabbed a large tomato and the lettuce. "Is there Bacon in there?" Maybe one day she would tell the Grunt, who knows, he maybe able to help her. She wanted to wait though, She didn't want the superiors to know and she didn't know he close he was to them she she didn't risk it.

Laughing, the grunt shook his head. "I don't think it's so much being 'busy' than them enjoying what they do. Too much to remember to eat and sleep. But as long as you like eating at least as much as you like working, I'm sure you won't have that problem." Shadow glanced down at Laerdan with a grin a jabbed a thumb in the Aron's direction. "I know he won't."

Taking her brief reply as a polite indication that she did mind being asked, the male grunt simply nodded. It was understandable to want to keep certain things to oneself, especially if they were personal. Everyone had their own secrets, and it was only fair he respect hers.

At her abrupt change in topic, however, he was a little thrown off. "A - a what?" He blinked. "Is that code for something? Sorry, my memory's pretty much a blur, so I - " A pause. "Bacon?" The teen frowned for a moment, his brows furrowing in befuddlement. The initials suddenly clicked, as if he remembered them from far off, somewhere. A distant memory he couldn't quite grasp.

"...Bacon...lettuce...and tomatoes?" he questioned cautiously. How could he have forgotten such a simple abbreviation? Something was seriously wrong with him. Maybe his memory just wasn't as good as he had thought. Maybe he had been hit one too many times on the head during training, or maybe he was losing it. Whatever the case, he didn't want his new acquaintance to notice or worry.

"Wow. Sorry, it's been ages since I've had one of those. Almost forgot what the letters stood for. Sure, I'm up for that." He dug around a bit in the fridge, retrieving some strips of cold, but cooked, bacon. "BLTs it is."

Selene let out a light chuckle as the Grunt gestured at Laerdan. "Laerdan put work before eating!?" She gasped comically. "After all it is how he got into trouble in the first place." She watched the Aron ignore the teasing and just continued to much on his food.

"Yes, it is code for Best Lunch Tastiness... Meaning... It's good just eat it!"
She rooted around the cabinets for a cutting board and found a knife. She sliced the tomatoes and lettuce with ease. It was good to know they kept their kitchenware so sharp. She glanced at Shadow. "Go ahead and heat that up." She found some plates and set them out along with some bread. She would let Shadow put on his own trimmings.

She leaned against the table. "Mind telling me about your Pokemon?" She didn't see too many out of their balls so she was curious as to which ones Shadow had.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:18 pm

"Who knows? This is Team Rocket - maybe it could be a chance for him to turn over a new leaf," Shadow replied, smiling, expressing his faith in the little steel-type. "He still seems pretty young, so I'm sure he's still got a bunch to learn. There's a lot of room to grow and a lot of time to change. I know I have."

Laughing at Selene's new interpretation of the abbreviation, he toasted the bread as she cut the tomatoes and lettuce. "Like mayonnaise?" he asked, taking out a jar of it before putting the bacon in the microwave to heat. Once the bread was ready, he set it out on the plates Selene retrieved. "Hey, we make a pretty good team," Shadow noted. "Thanks for cutting." After washing his hands and slathering his toasted slices with mayonnaise, he started adding the bacon from the microwave, the lettuce, and finally, the tomatoes.

Just as he took a bite of the sandwich, though, he choked at hearing Selene's question. It took him a few moments and a little bit of pounding his chest to get his esophagus to cooperate once more. "...Sorry," he gasped hoarsely when he had mostly recovered. "Um...I don't think I have any."

He didn't think so mostly for the fact that he sometimes found himself reaching for a pokeball in his pocket. A pokeball that wasn't there. He wondered if maybe he had once had one that he'd forgotten and that he reached for the ball out of habit. How could he have forgotten owning his own pokemon, though...?

Pouring some water out for them, he handed Selene a glass before taking a sip of his own. "I, um...I guess I don't really need one for the work that I've done so far, though..."

She laughed. "Perhaps.I'm sure he listen more once he knows me a bit longer." She looked over at Shadow. She was curious, how did he change? Was it a good change or a not so great.

"Sure I'll take some Mayo." Once he was done she put a thin layer of it on her bread. She chuckled, "Ya think so?" She liked the idea of a partner. She knew Laerdan already like this guy.

Selene offered the Grunt a warm smile."No pokemon? We are going to have to change that one day." She grinned a little more. "And if that one stops getting into trouble as much, I'm sure he would be happy to help you out if you needed a Pokemon. Right boy?" The little Aron, now down with his own snack, excitedly answered with a few cries and a headbutt to Shadows foot.
