User ImageYggdrasil moved slowly through the meadow, the sun beating down on his back. The wind blew through the leaves in his tree, whisking a few away. He hummed, head bobbing slightly to the tune as happy as can be. He murmured to the trees as he pass, bowing his head in greeting. Of course they didn't talk back but it didn't stop him. If he was polite to them they wouldn't mind if he took fruit to quench his hunger.

Stopping for a moment, Yggdrasil stretched his neck, sore from walking. The tree wrapped around his body was heavy and though he'd gotten used to bearing its weight long ago, he moved slow and hard. It's something I bear gladly. He thought to himself, remembering how it had helped so many. He looked up at the sun, eyes squinting. It was mid-day, the sun at its hottest. Perhaps it was time for a rest. He spotted a large oak tree and waddled over to it, sitting down and resting under its shade. The relief was instant and he sighed in relief. "Thank you, Sir Oak."

With a sigh, Ayita shook her head. Droplets of water were flung from her mane with each shake. The mare had quickly walked into the big water- the liquid was incredibly refreshing on her warm body. Heaving another sigh, the mare looked around once more. With the hot sun beating down upon her body, Ayita set off towards the forest once more. She figured that on the other side of the forest would be the mountains- if she could just get there, she'd be able to follow them home.

As she walked, her eyes shifted from area to area. She had decided to branch out further than ever before. It was quite the feat for the shy mare. For someone who stuttered out every other word, Ayita was insanely proud of herself for managing to come so far on her own. However, she was ready to return home. The mare grinned- stepping out wasn't such a bad thing, she decided. Spotting a large tree in the distance, she picked up her pace to a light trot. The shade would be wonderful, and she decided she should stay under the tree for just a little while. Nickering in delight, Ayita immersed herself in the shade; glad for the bit of relief from the heat.

Yggdrasil was whispering kind words to the oak when he herd a sound from the other side. Peeking his head around, he spied a black coloured mare with silver markings and hair as green as the healthiest leaf. He watched her for a moment, taking time to decide if she was friend or foe. He quickly realized that was rather silly and shuffled around the tree a little, sitting beside her but not too close as too startle her.

Yggdrasil cleared his throat and turned to her, smiling in greeting. "Sir Oak is very kind to shade two people today. How lucky we are that he stands so tall for us." Yggdrasil placed a hoof on the bark, murmuring under his breath a quiet thank you once more. Many thought he was odd, talking to something that didn't talk back. But he always believed that just because something didn't talk back didn't mean it couldn't hear it.

He shook his back a little, his tree shaking so that a berry broke free and dropped on the ground. He nudged it towards her with his nose. "They're quite juicy and sweet. Perfect for a hot day I think."

Her eyes closed lightly as she took in the bits of heat that were hitting her as she hid in the shade. As she heard slight movement, her eyes quickly opened, and her ears perked up. She stood still for a brief moment before turning to see whomever was near her. Her eyes went wide, and she gasped loudly. With a cringe, she quickly backed away a few feet. She knew her gasp was rude and loud, but she couldn't help it.

"S-s-so-sorry..." she stuttered the apology out as she took the stallion in. She knew she was staring, and she knew it was rude, but she'd never seen a soquili with a tree on them. It was relatively alarming to her. Shaking her head lightly, she cleared her thoughts, and tentatively smiled at the male. As she took in what he said, she nodded. "V-v-v-very g-ge-gen-gen-generous o-o-of t-th-the tr-tree. F-for na-now, a-a-at l-l-lea-least." she gave a slight smile. As the sun changed, the oak tree would have no say in how it's shading would work. She watched as he spoke to the tree- clearly he cared about nature. As he did so, she observed him some more, still tentatively taking him in and sorting out her thoughts of the stallion.

"W-wh-what a-a-are th-they? Th-they d-da-don't l-look li-like a-any-anything I-I've e-ever s-s-se-seen be-be-before..." she gave a slight sigh at her stuttering but looked at the yellow bell shaped thing that he'd nudged towards her with a slight trepidation.

Yggdrasil watched the mare carefully, taking in her reaction and body language; the way she stared at him in.. fear? Surprise? He wasn't sure but he knew he had to be careful with her. Not scare her off. He found her stuttering quite adorable, but hid the smile it brought to his face - not wanting to embarrass her. He blushed slightly as she noticed him talking to the tree, suddenly self conscious of something he'd been doing for a very long time.

He watched her eye the berry and wondered why she was so afraid to trust him. Perhaps she had been hurt, tricked by someone who offered her the same thing - or something similar. Someone who appeared to be kind and gentle who turned out to be cruel and evil. The thought made him mad - someone hurting the innocent. He hid his emotions carefully, knowing full well if she saw anger cross his features she'd flee. He wanted her to stay. Wanted her to trust him. This was the reason he had developed a desire to protect life. It pained him to see fear. Pain. Anything that wasn't happiness.

Wiggling slightly, he shook another berry loose from his tree and leaned down, nibbling on it gently. A sigh escaped his lips and he smiled. "Delicious. You can try it if you like, but I won't force you." He took another bite before looking up at her again. "My name's Yggdrasil. Feel free to shorten it if you like. It's a bit of a mouthful."

Watching the stallion, Ayita briefly glanced down at the thing from the tree once more before quickly returning her gaze to the stallion. A slight frown marred her face as she watched him shake another one loose and then nibble on it. "B-b-but wh-wh-what is i-it?!" Clearly it wouldn't hurt her- he was still standing. Yet, at the same time, she was hesitant until she knew just what it was. The yellow thing was unfamiliar to her, but she'd already stepped out quite a bit today- why not a little further?

A slight sigh of relief escaped her at his words. She didn't like being forced into doing things when she wasn't in her comfort zone. At his name, her eyes widened. That was a mouthful. "E-e-e-egg-dr-dr-dray-s-s-sill? O-or n-na-no? M-m-maybe I sh-sh-should sho-sho-shorten it? I a-a-a-am Ay-ay-ayit-ayit-tah." She gave a slight wince at how her name came out.

Lowering her head, with her eyes still on the other, she sniffed the thing on the ground. It smelled fruity. But was it a fruit? Or something else? Whatever it was, it was certainly edible. The stallion- Eggdraysill- was having no issue with it. Surely that was a good sign. Her eyes looked over the male once more, before resting on the tree, curious as to how it got there, but not curious enough to ask.

Yggdrasil couldn't help but chuckle at her pronunciation of his name. Egg? He snorted and shook his head; it didn't matter, if she wanted to call him Egg she could. "You can call me Egg, if you'd like. Or Drasil," he said, still chuckling. "Ayita.." he said her name, testing it out, putting it to memory. "A beautiful name."

Yggdrasil's eyes shifted to the berry at her feet. "It's berry. I haven't seen them anywhere else except on the tree on my back. That doesn't mean they're not out there, just that I haven't found them yet." He tilted his head. "It's like.. a peach, honey and melon all in one fruit. Quite delicious." He took one last bite of his, finishing it off with a smile, licking the juices from his lips.

He followed her eyes to his tree, noticing the question that sparkled in them. "Don't know how it got there. Was born with it - was only a sapling when I was little. We grew together, so I got used to it. He still weighs me down every now and then - mostly when I've been walking for a while."

Yggdrasil looked at her. "Do you live around here, Lady Ayita?"

A light snort escaped her. Clearly she butchered his name. Luckily, he gave her a shortened version; once she knew him better...if she got to know him better...she'd try his full name again. "D-dr-dr-dras-i-i-il." She gave a slight nod. She could remember that easily enough. Blushing, she was thankful for her dark face. "Th-th-thank ya-ya-you."

A berry. She was right on the mark when she thought it was fruit. "I-in-inter-e-e-est-t-t-ting." With that, she lowered her head, eyes flicking up to glance at him once more, before she took a slight nibble of the fruit. As the fruit hit her tongue, her eyes widened. "I-i-i-it's de-de-delis-ish-ish-ous." She gave a wide grin, having thoroughly enjoyed the bite she'd had. Quickly, she lowered her head to have another bite. "Th-th-thank y-you."

She gave a slight nod, and cocked her head at the tree. She found it fascinating. As he spoke of it weighing him down, she shook her head- she hadn't even contemplated how much it must weigh! To carry something so heavy, Drasil surely had to be a strong soquili. "Th-th-that's in-in-inter-inter-res-res-resting."

At his question, she quickly shook her head. Not even close. Home was, likely, a few days travel. It was still amazing to her that she even bothered coming this far in the first place, considering how long it took her. Her? Lady? A giggle escaped her."N-no. I l-l-live n-n-near the p-p-pass. D-d-do ya-you l-l-live a-a-aroun-around he-here?"

Yggdrasil smiled as she giggled softly - she must be getting a little more comfortable around him. Good. He didn't want to come off as terrifying. What kind of leader scares his followers? A terrible one, that's what. He mentally slapped himself, bringing his mind back to what was occurring before him. Ayita was kind, he deducted, gentle and shy. It was rare to come across soquili this innocent that weren't foals. It made him happy that such a thing could exist - gave him hope that the world wasn't a completely terrible place.

Yggdrasil grinned as she ate the fruit, having guessed her reaction would have been just the same. He shook his tree, knocking down another for him to nibble on. He glanced at her eating for a moment - so delicate each bite was. "You can have another if you'd like. They grow back pretty quickly. It's handy having a food source with you all the time."

Not from around here, huh? Perhaps she's a traveler. Oh, the stories she must have. While Yggdrasil had been traveling for a few days, he had not come far and knew he would never see every aspect of the world. Except. Through the eyes of others as they told their stories. He almost shivered with excitement, but contained it. He would ask her for a story later.

"I don't really live anywhere," he chuckled, a little pathetically. "I'm still trying to find a place of my own to live. I heard rumors of a great oak forest far to the East. That's where I'm heading." He looked at her thoughtfully. "You must have seen a lot of the world, Lady Ayita. I must say I'm a little envious."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 18, 2012 1:43 am

She smiled softly to herself as she finished off the fruit. As he offered up another one, she contemplated it before giving a brief shake of her head. Though, as she did so, a small smile was still present. "I th-th-think I'll pa-pa-pass f-f-f-or n-n-now. Ma-ma-may-b-b-be l-l-later? Th-th-thank y-y-you, th-th-though. B-b-being y-y-you're ow-ow-own f-f-f-food s-s-source mu-mu-must be han-han-handy at ti-ti-times..." It was true. If he was one who was never in the same spot for long, having the berries with him constantly had to cut down on travel time just a smidge.

The idea of not living anywhere was foreign to her. She'd quickly found a place where she was comfy and happy, and had settled in there. The idea of still searching was weird to her. As he spoke of her seeing the world, she vehemently shook her head. Entirely untrue! This is the most she'd seen, and just to even get here, she'd stuck to shadows, hidden from others. The idea of her seeing the world was a funny thought, despite how appealing it sounded. "I ha-ha-haven't se-se-seen th-th-the wo-wo-worl-world, Dr-dr-drasil." She gave a small frown. "Or mu-mu-much of m-m-my ow-ow-own ar-ar-area, r-r-r-really. S-s-so th-th-there i-i-is no ne-ne-need to be en-en-en-v-vious." She gave a slight smile.

She tilted her head. Once more he had called her a lady. She opened her mouth to ask why, before deciding that he had his reasons. Instead, she decided to speak of the great oak forest that he had mentioned. "H-h-how w-w-will you kn-kn-know wh-wh-when you a-ar-r-r-rive? S-s-s-sure-l-l-ly th-th-there are ma-many gr-great oaks?"

Yggdrasil finished his second berry and nodded. "It does come in handy, that's for certain. I can't reach fruit if it's too high in a tree and I sure don't like the taste of meat." Before he had discovered his fruit was edible, Yggdrasil went four days without food. He was afraid they could be poisonous, but by then he didn't care. He'd rather be poisoned and die quickly than starve to death. Luckily, the fruit was edible and delicious; with juices that helped with his thirst.

"I'm sure you've seen more than me, Ayita. I would love to hear a story, even if you don't think it's that much." He smiled, sincerely. It would be an honor to see her world through her eyes - or at least as she saw it. It was the closest he got to adventure. This journey - from one side to another - was going to be the only real adventure and traveling he'd do in his life.

"I guess I'll just know. I may not even be able to live there. It depends if no one else is inhabiting it yet. But these lands are big, I'm sure I'll find somewhere to settle down. Maybe you can visit me when I do."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:45 am

With a snort, Ayita shook her head. Meat? Gross. She'd take fruits and vegetables any day of the week. Having a portable build-a-meal was pretty handy though, no matter how heavy it was. "Heh...I d-d-d-don't kn-know a-a-any-o-o-one who D-D-D-DOES lie-lie-like the t-t-ta-taste of m-meat...it's j-just...gr-gross." The more she thought, the more handy she could see it being. There had been times when she'd get to a tree, once no one else was around it, only to discover that all of the fruit were located in a place just a little too high up for her to reach.

She slowly shook her head. "I do-do-do-doubt it. I ha-haven't see-seen m-mu-much. I te-te-tend to st-sti-stick to the sha-sha-shadows. Th-th-this is the far-far-farthest I've be-be-been...and the lo-lo-longest I've be-be-been aw-aw-away from ho-home." Albeit, she did see other soquili with foals on her journey to this side. It'd been from a distance but she still had seen it. She, miraculously, managed to avoid others the entire trip. The words Ayita and social did not coincide much. She was working on it; it'd just been awhile since she'd last seen the few friends that she did have.

"W-well, m-m-maybe th-they wi-will l-let you set-settle d-down th-there, t-too? If it is a b-b-big pla-place, it sh-sh-shouldn't b-be an ish-issue. R-right?"

Yggdrasil nodded. "You're lucky you don't know anyone who likes the taste of meat. From my experience they aren't all rainbows and sunshine." Of course that wasn't to say that those who were herbivores were all nice. Voodoo certainly wasn't the nicest fellow and Yggdrasil had never seen him eat meat during the short time they spent together. But then again.. just cause he hadn't seen it didn't mean it didn't happen.. He shuddered and pushe the thought out of his mind.

Yggdrasil listened intently to Ayita as she spoke. She stuck to the shadows.. A shame she was so afraid of the world and others. He wondered if she was born this way or if something had happened that had changed her. It didn't bother him; he liked her company just the same. "You shouldn't stick to the shadows. How will others see your beauty if you hide?"

Yggdrasil cleared his throat awkwardly. Perhaps that was going a little too far; being a little too forward. He shifted awkwardly before continuing. "It was very brave of you to travel so far when you're not used to it."

He had thought about the possibility of others already inhabiting the Oak Forest. While the place sounded perfect for him to live in, he knew the lands were large and he'd be able to find somewhere else. "I guess it depends on who lives there."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 05, 2012 8:38 pm

She snorted at the understatement. The idea of knowing meat eaters just sounded dangerous; she was unsure about half the soq she saw...but meat eaters were something she would likely flee from. "V-v-very mu-much so. I d-d-don't th-th-think I wa-wa-want to kn-know a-anyone wh-who eats me-meat...eh-ever." Though, like any others, some meat eaters were possibly nice.

Beauty? Ayita snorted. She had no clue what he was speaking of. She was just herself. Certainly no beauty- he was definitely new. Hadn't seen enough of the other mares. As for the shadows- it was true. She shouldn't stick to them. Slowly but surely though...she'd get to a point that she wasn't scared. "I kn-know. It...I...I'm wo-work-i-ing on it. Sl-slowly...bu-but sure-surely..."

Ayita, in a rare moment, laughed and gave a slight grin. "I st-still ha-have to ma-ma-make it ba-back to the oth-other si-side. Te-tell me it wa-was br-br-brave th-then..." A lot could happen on the trip back.

She gave a nod. That was understandable. "Tr-true. Ho-ho-hope-fu-fu-fully th-they are fr-fri-en-endly..." You'd think that others would be able to share- especially if someone is passionate about where they want to live.

Yggdrasil couldn't help but smile at Ayita's antics. Shy and stuttery as she may be; she made him laugh. He felt comfortable and at home; something he hadn't felt since he and his sister went their seperate ways He only hoped Ayita was feeling more comfortable now than she was when he first introduced himself.

Upon hearing her laughter and seeing her grin; Yggdrasil's eyes widened. That was something she'd not done before. It was sincere. Could it be she was warming up to him? One could only wait and find out.

She had to make it back? He wondered how far it was and what direction it was she was traveling. "Perhaps I could accompany you. That way I could see your bravery first hand and tell stories about it." He smirked, eying the mare from the corner of his eye.

"It doesn't bother me where I end up. I'll be able to work just as well." He tilted his head. "As long as I'm not underwater or in the desert I'm fine."
