The day had been a relatively uneventful one. Talasi had managed to catch a small antelope. A good enough meal for the day. She had certainly gotten much better since she had been out on her own, but even skill couldn’t help when there seemed to be a shortage of prey in some areas. However she didn’t let it get her down. There was certain to be something if she kept moving, and today was a good day indeed. She had not only come across a small herd but had actually managed to catch something. Maybe not the biggest meal, but it had been enough for now. Talasi rested against a rock, tail flicking lazily behind her as she stared off at the horizon. It had been longer than she recalled since she had started her lonely travels, and she wondered quietly how long it would continue. Her gaze shifted and fell upon a few moving forms further off. From this distance she could not make out what they were, though curiosity kept her focus on for a time. “It must be nice for them, travelling together.” Tala’s spoke softly.

It had been a while since she had actually had a proper meal. Too long perhaps. Having met the god of patience, her naked patches were cool, and at least protected from the harmful gaze of the African sun. She had take this opportunity to move more then she normally would have. The scarred lioness wandered through the rogue lands, searching for something. Something she didn't quite know what it was. A healer, a purpose. Just...something. Maybe she'd find it today. Maybe. That's what she told herself every day though. That today was the day. A sigh escaped Maya's mouth as she walked, her stomach growling loud enough that it was audible to her and even a few feet from her. Perhaps it was her hunger that distracted her from noticed the other brown lioness on the horizon.

The pair in the distance had eventually wandered off, disappearing from her sight and leaving her to simply stare off at nothing in particular. That is until she saw something moving her way to her side. She watched silently for a bit before raising the front of her body up to get a better view. As the form came closer she saw it was another lioness, at least she assumed so by the lack of mane. Talasi pushed herself up and off the rock, making her way towards the other lioness. It would be nice to have some company, even if it was only for a short time, and the thought that this lioness might not be friendly failed to cross her mind. “Hello there!” She called out to the stranger, grinning and bouncing slightly to make sure she caught the other’s attention.

With her body slouched, it was no surprise that Maya did not see her until the lioness had called out to her. Her head came up suddenly, eyes looking over her surroundings. Where had that voice come from? The wind maybe? A trick? It wasn't until the new lioness started making her way towards her that she truly noticed. "Ah, uh...hello." She replied, her ears turning back. Not knowing who she was or even where she was caused her to be a bit more defensive then she probably needed to be. "I'm not intruding on your lands am I?" That was the last thing she wanted to be doing.

“Oh, no! I am as much an intruder here as you, though I have not yet seen any lions give claim to it.” Talasi certainly hadn’t seen any, and the thought that she might be within someone else’s territory had not crossed her mind until now. She was so used to moving through places with no bother that she had failed to even consider the possibility before. Perhaps then she had been lucky up to this point then to either avoid claimed land, or those who had claimed it.
“I hope I did not startle you then with the thought that this was my land or anything.” That was certainly the last thing she wanted. “I am Talasi. It is nice to meet you!” She couldn’t help but notice the bone protruding from both sides of the lioness’ muzzle. She cocked her head slightly to one side, her own nose twitching slightly as she wondered what it felt like. “That is certainly an interesting use for a bone. Does it have some special meaning to it?” The furless patches of scarred skin she had also seen, but she was not so brash as to bring up something that so obviously could be a touchy subject.

Well that was a relief. No lion had claim to the land so there was no immediate danger at least. Though she couldn't let her guard down even for a moment. After being chased from several lands before, one could not be too careful when traveling alone. "A pleasure Talasi. I'm Maya." She blinked at the question. Rarely did she think about the bone that pierced the flesh above her nose. It was just something that was part of her now. "It's just...an old memory I suppose would be the easiest way to tell what it is without boring you with my life's story."

“I am sure it is an interesting story then.” She smiled broadly, still curious as to it’s reason for being there, but not sure if this too carried some pain to it. “Maya. A nice name you have. So what brings you around here, if I may ask?” Talasi was eager to perhaps keep the lioness Maya around a little longer if she could. Perhaps it was a bit selfish, but she was enjoying having someone else to talk to, even if it was only going to be for a short time before the two of them went their separate ways.

"I don't have much reason to stay in any one place so I choose to travel. What about yourself? You seem to be alone out here. No mate? No family or pride?" The tale of her piercing was definitely an interesting one, but a long one and something that should be saved for another time. Maya glanced towards the horizon, her expression dropping into a frown. The sun was beginning to set and she had yet to eat for that day or even the day before. Hunger was starting to get the best of her.

“I have nothing keeping me in any one place either. Family is gone, as well is my pride as far as I am aware of, and haven’t found any males that seemed worth staying with.” Talasi turned her own attention towards the horizons to see what Maya was glancing at. The sun was starting it’s descent and Tala realized she had not even found any place to sleep for the night. “I did not realize it was getting so late.” She looked back at Maya, wondering if the other lioness planned to continue her journey through the night or rest. “If you are not in a hurry to leave there is probably some nice shelter around here somewhere. There are also a few small herds roaming about. I saw a couple earlier today and they probably haven’t gone far.”
A thought quickly popped in to her mind, as just as quick as the thought came so did the words from her maw. "There also might be some antelope left!" She paused a second to gather her words. "I caught one earlier, and if scavengers haven't had a go at it there may be a decent meal left on it's bones." With a grin she turned and bounded back towards her earlier meal, hoping that it was still mostly there.

A meal and a place to rest. Staying with this lioness, even for a little while, was quickly looking more and more like a good option. With a nod Maya silently followed after her, not daring to bring up her family but in exchange, she hoped that this Talasi would not bring up her scars while they were together.
