West hadn't even realized it was possible to get fleas this time of the year. He supposed if any creature would manage it, it would be Master, his phoenix scareon. If it had been one of his armassum, he would have just abandoned it somewhere. Pets were pets, and they were all so horrible and needy and UGH! But this was Master. She had taken on a crazed horse... thing when she had only been a few weeks old, and her reign of badassery continued into the present. If anyone deserved a flea bath, it was her.

The scareon had allowed her owner to carry her from the Fitness Club's meeting room where he had hosed her down, but once they reached the demon dorms, she demanded to be released from his grasp with a loud screech and a lot of wiggling.

"Hold up... stoppit!" West muttered, wrestling with the towel-wrapped creature. He ducked into the demon common room, lowering Master onto one of the couches and holding her there as he vigorously toweled her off the rest of the way. "I dun see why y'can't jus' burn th'water off," he said as he continued drying the animal. Her fiery fur began to singe the edge of his towel, as if to prove his point.

While West seemed preoccupied having issue's with his companion, Evelyne-Aglaya was enjoying the company of her own. At the current moment, it was with two of her Litter Bugs, one settled on her shoulder and the other nestled in her hair... probably making a nest... and her Butterfly Scareon was right at her heels. The quartet were simply meandering about the Demon dorms having a look about. She was still new, after all, and hadn't quite gotten the hang of the place just yet. But that was the exciting part about new places! Learning about them! And having the company of her pets made it all the more fun.

Her legs made of perfectly coiled roots hardly made a sound as they touched the ground, only the subtlest of thuds, staccato and pianissimo. But the few moths that took refuge along her skirt, mostly under it's folds, would flutter about from time to time, their wings batting the air in a feathery tone. Music to her ears~ That lax smile was peeled across her lips as she'd give a nod or greeting to a few fellow demons that were passed by. Not many responded back, but it didn't matter.

As she came upon the common room, her attention was drawn by the sound of a voice. Peering over, she spied the struggling boil, and... a towel that was starting to recede at the edges. Curious, she waltzed right in, her little bugs lifting their heads with the same sort of interest,

"Why hello there~" her smooth voice greeted, "Might I inquire as to what you're doing?" she asked politely, while her Scareon sniffed towards West lightly, ears swiveling forward in a slightly alerted posture.

The boil's hands stopped their abrasive scrubbing and he turned sharply, narrowing his eyes at the newcomer. Master took the opportunity to scramble away from the towel's confinement and hop up on the back of the sofa where she immediately began to groom herself. West turned back to the animal, briefly frowning at the phoenix scareon before glaring at the new demon once more.

"Dryin' my scareon, wassit look like?" he muttered, finally turning around fully. He dropped onto the couch to one side of the partially burned and now vacated towel, peering at the ghoul with what might have been termed "curiosity" if one was being kind. Truthfully, it was just distrust. She was the first new student he had seen up close since he had been repeatedly warned that trusting new students was Bad, and he wasn't about to make a fool of himself by unwillingly providing Hunters with information they didn't already have. Even so, if this ghoul was a Hunter, it seemed like it wouldn't hurt to show them exactly what they were up against.

"What're you doin'? he countered quickly, leaning forward a bit in his seat and struggling against his nature in an attempt to be observant. She had moths. A scareon too, but... lots of moths. Why? Would humans voluntarily surround themselves with bugs? He didn't know.

"Nice... moths."

The Litter Bugs that had taken refuge upon the ghoul perked up as West did, their large eyes blinking a few times, wings flitting briefly as well. The one that was stationed in her mess of hair pulled itself up for a better look, crawling forward to peer down at the irritated fellow. Antenna were all wavering about, while Evelyne-Aglaya simply allowed her smile to broaden, "My apologies, as I couldn't see it underneath it's towel." her concealed eyes ventured towards the now grooming little miss. Though she was certainly uncomfortable with fire, she couldn't pretend the pet wasn't beautiful, or quite charming, "She's very lovely~" the demoness commented in a somewhat idle manner. Clearly her attention had been veered to the scareon now, rather than West, to where she didn't even notice his clear spectacle expression.

It wasn't until he spoke again, with a mirrored question, that her gaze returned on him, and then drifted off again to look around them, "Well, I suppose you could say I'm taking my tour around here. I'm new to the school, and still haven't learned my way about." she chuckled softly, a hand lifting to her lips to veil some of the sound, "It is deplorable, I know~" but her hand lowered, and instead gripped to some of the cloth of her skirt, lifting it slightly as she gave her company a polite little curtsy, "I am Evelyne-Aglaya Yeva Verochka. Might I be honored in knowing your name?" A few of the moths that had hidden under her skirt fluttered out, and began to crawl along her root-legs, and up her waist, stomach, to find other places to hide. But she didn't seem to react to it, merely giving a brighter smile at such a complement, "Why thank you~ Are you a fan of them?"

"Hmm," he grunted in response to the ghoul's compliment. "If she is it's nothin' I've done," he said. "I jus' let 'er stick around 'cause she can hold 'er own inna fight." West's face brightened at this, a faint but proud smirk remaining on his lips as the other demon continued to speak. He had to admit... if this was a human, not only did they have a very talented costume designer, but they'd done their research. The courtesy, the properness, the very lengthy name--he was reminded of his mother and some of the demons she'd called his aunts, even though neither she nor his father had any sisters. He suddenly felt slightly twitchy, as if someone would burst out of the woodwork and scold him if he did something improper.

"West," he said, watching her bugs scurry about. The boil supposed he had to admit they were better than cuddly animals, despite the fact that they seemed to be doing quite a bit of cuddling. "Sure," he cautiously agreed. "Bugs're better than most." He stood, belatedly offering her a water-pruny hand to shake even though she had already curtsied.

"So," he said, suspicion giving way to genuine good old fashioned curiosity. "What y'think of Amityville?" As oblivious to most news as he was, West couldn't help but be aware of the kind of press the school had been getting lately. It was hardly flattering. He wondered how kids convinced their parents to let them come here at all nowadays.

The little scareon at her heels peeked up at the other one, staring for a moment, before settling onto his haunches, fluffy tail fluttering to curl around to his side. He was a quiet, and sort of timid type... which made him thankful for Evelyne-Aglaya's calm and somewhat nurturing nature. The demoness grew intrigued once again, eyeing that firey little creature. Could hold itself in a fight, hm? Well, that was something to be proud about! Did this fellow get into a few himself? Perhaps she'd find out soon enough.

Attention redirecting to the boil in question, her eyes flickered to the extended hand briefly, before her own rose and took it in a confident grasp, "It is a pleasure to meet you, West~" her words took their time in spilling out, giving their handshake a single lift and lowered motion. Retracting from it at a reasonable time frame, most of the beady eyes that were dotted along her body were all staring at West. It happened probably right after their hands met, mostly picking up on his actual presence by reading their 'hosts' reaction. But all of it was mere, innocent curiosity. And an even wider smile peeled along Evelyne-Aglaya's lips from the semi-compliment her winged friends received, "Ah you have good taste, Mr. West." she playfully replied, a soft chuckle in her tone. "Yes I do admit, I quite enjoy their company. They're quite charming little things, really.." one of her slender arms lifted, and bent so that a manicured hand could stroke along one of the Litter Bugs roosted on her shoulder, shaded by her hair. The thing closed it's beady eyes to sharp slits, leaning into her affections, a finger stroking the plumage that ringed around the insects neck. "You're free to hold or touch one, if you'd like. They're all well-mannered, I assure you~" the invitation couldn't help but be offered. She was proud of her little beauties, and wanted to share their loveliness with anyone interested.

The pampered Litter Bug's eyes were fully closed, wings drooped at its sides as the stroking continued, but the demon had her eyes focused on West. His question was appropriate, and one she definitely didn't mind answering, "It is very stimulating, I must say. So vast and varied in inhabitants, and... well most things." she chuckled again, finger lifting from the fluff of the Litter Bug, to stroke along it's small head, "I'm still working on making relations, and acquaintances, but that will all come in due time." her tone was clearly assured, as the demon was very capable in making friends in just about any scenario! "It is quenching to my thirst for knowledge, and experience." she concluded, smiling winningly to the boil. "And what of you? How has your experience here been?"

Master abruptly ceased her furious grooming as if she somehow felt the other animal's stare. Her wide, golden eyes met the other scareon's, and she promptly hopped off of the back of the sofa and sniffed at him curiously before taking a seat nearby. She really didn't start fights unless provoked, despite what West seemed to imply, but as a mostly outdoor pet, she often had a lot to be provoked by. Master extended a paw, moving it toward the other scareon with the intention of poking at him in greeting.

When their shake was complete, West's hand retreated behind his back. He remained standing, a slightly wary expression on his face that seemed to suggest he didn't know what to do with himself now. He quickly came to realize he was being stared at by a multitude of shiny black eyes. The boil reached out a hand toward one of the moths, the hand that wasn't behind his back, but he pulled it away just as quickly. "Nah, that's okay," he muttered, his eyes on her litter bug. "You can jus'... yeah. I'm sure they're happier over there."

A slight huff of laughter escaped his lips, conveniently distracting him from his curiosity over the ghoul's pets. "Stimulating" and "varied" were two ways of looking at it, he supposed. She seemed so happy to be here amid the rumors and chaos, but then again, so was he. His last school had nothing on Amityville as far as the teachers or quality of the students were concerned, at least in West's opinion. Too bad that was something he would never admit out loud.

"The school's all right," he said instead. "Most of th'kids're annoying dumbasses, but that's everyone, really," he continued. If she'd ever been to the maul and paid any attention at all to the creatures there she would surely know what he meant. "Some're okay though. Friendly." He said the last bit rather sarcastically, but when he spoke next, his voice was back to its normal slightly angry gruffness. "Classes are okay too." He paused. "Mosta what I've learned here has been on field trips, actually." As if he had only just realized the fact that that was kind of weird, West shrugged. "Yeah. I dunno why."

Pricking his ears, the butterfly scareon widened his eyes as he was spotted by the other. Almost instantly, his gaze darted away, staring at Evelyne-Aglaya's feet, and leaning a bit closer to her for comfort. His antenna even twitched a few times nervously, eyes rolling towards the other four-legged kin, he spared a peek. Keeping his head a little low in a submissive manner, his ears twitched as he was poked, peeking back again, tail curling around himself before giving a subtle nod in response to the greeting.

Evelyne-Aglaya watched with a reserved cheeriness as West made a move for the moths littered along her, blinking behind her mask in surprise as he retracted. But she merely chuckled softly, the Litter Bug she'd been fawning over daintily tip-toeing down her arm, which had elevated to support the pet that was a little larger than the normal moths, "No need to be shy. He's quite soft to the touch, especially his collar." the little bat Litter Bug stared up at West with his glossy black eyes, perched onto a single finger that was now lifted for it by his owner. Delicate wings flitted a few times before remaining stationary, splayed out for display, long tails waving slowly below the slender arm. The demoness chuckled softly, lifting her finger and watching the pet adjust to bring it's tiny feet closer together, remaining easily balanced. "I'm sure he'll adore you~" Her Litter Bugs were able to easily attach to others.

Gaze lifting from her precious pet, she watched West with an amused expression, giggle softly at his take on the school. Not quite what she would have expected, but entertaining all the same. She nodded subtly in acknowledgement, "Well, it makes sense to me." with ease, and comfort, she moved to the couch that was besides them, and took a seat, gesturing for West to follow suit on the cushion beside her, "With Field trips, all of your senses are engaged. Not only are you listening, but you're seeing, and having a hands on approach. Experience. In class, you aren't always given such a wide range of options." she was easily able to excel in her classes with or without field trips, but she couldn't deny their appeal, and effect. It made learning fun to a broader mass, after all! ..though she always loved learning, what ever the method..

He rolled his eyes at her silent suggestion that he take a seat, but a moment later he did so anyway. What else did he have to do right now? Prior to this, he had been voluntarily bathing his scareon for Jack's sake. Despite the fact that he had initially dismissed it, his mind lingered on the extremely slight possibility this ghoul was a Hunter. He didn't want to storm off if there was a chance he could get some information out of a human. West reached out toward the ghoul's Litter Bug again, rubbing at its ruff with a finger and resisting the urge to continuously poke at it to see if he could knock it from its perch.

"Yeah," he agreed. "Hands on." He thought about his agility training with Levi and how spectacularly he'd failed at making his way through that mysterious cave he'd found. West also thought about the R.A.G.E. boat and the various guns he had used and been injured by since he had started attending this school. He wasn't sure any of it would help him in the human world, but those experiences, even getting shot, had certainly been hands on and they had been fun. He supposed she was right. "But it's good. We hafta know how t'take care of ourselves when the humans come." He brushed at the Litter Bug again, watching Evelyne-Aglaya out of the corner of his eye and trying to gauge the ghoul's reaction to the mention of their mortal intruders. Too bad he was really crappy at being subtle.

Master, on the other hand, felt no such need for games and secrecy. The other scareon's timidity amused her, and she sat up straighter, drumming her front paws against the ground before settling back to stare at him again, her demeanor calm.

Pleased that he joined her in sitting, she sat as a proper ghoul would, a root built leg crossed over the other, hands resting neatly on her lap. The Litter Bug's eyes closed slightly in approval as his fluff was caressed, wings flitting lightly to further show his appreciation, which in turn made Evelyne-Aglaya's smile grow further.

With them both seated, the conversation felt even more lax for her, nodding lightly to show her understanding, moths that were once on her now slowly crawling around the couch for inspection... as well as the boil, silently crawling onto his shoulders and back. The Litter Bug however was taking a liking to the boil and the attention he was given. So much that he leaned into the rubbing, and soon gracefully hopped onto West's hand, barely weighing and feeling as though anything were there. He positioned himself so he would still be able to receive rubbings, thin tails holding around the boil's wrist for security. Evelyne-Aglaya giggled at the scene, unable to help herself, really. It was too adorable! She looked up though to meet the 'subtle' peeking of the boil, only to give another nod, "I concur. It's best to be prepared in any case that might be thrown our way. My parents have told me of how dangerous and unpredictable they can be." she was a bit curious of them, to be honest. The mortal enemy of all things Halloween... which lead to her question, "Have you ever encountered one?"

The meek little butterfly Scareon was far too overwhelmed by this confident female to really know how to properly react! instead, he gave a few nervous twitches, eyes darting to the ground numerous times, before hesitantly peeking back up to her. What was going on?! Quietly... he started to head over to Evelyne-Aglaya, hiding behind her root legs for safety, peeking out at Master with clear uncertainty.

Oh, now that was no fun! It was more than a little bit amusing though. If Master had possessed the ability to grin, she surely would have done so in response to the butterfly scareon's timidity. Instead, she decided to back off a bit for the time being, retreating up the arm of the sofa closest to her demon. It might have been entertaining to continue teasing the other animal, but the phoenix scareon knew woody material when she saw it. Even though she couldn't recall a time when she hadn't been able to control what she burned, Master thought it would be best to stay away from her playmate while he was hiding behind a pair of potentially flammable limbs.

As the Litter Bug hopped onto his hand and curled its tail around his wrist, West gradually stopped petting the animal, his entire body going still as the rest of the bugs began investigating him as well. It made him feel as though he had contracted a swiftly moving skin fungus, and even though there was nothing wrong with contracting a creeping skin fungus, West wasn't accustomed to it. He focused on the other demon's question rather than her laughter, equally as concerned as Master that one wrong move by the scareon and set the place alight.

"Danger'us, sure," he agreed. "Kinda... stupid too." He had always been too busy kicking and/or running from Hunters to contemplate their relative smarts, but really? They always seemed to be following orders. And there was that time he had just landed on that one and it had kind of exploded. He smirked and distractedly resumed his Litter Bug petting. "Yeah, they've killed us all a lot," he continued. "But we come back most of the time. Y'know, Halloween'll never die n'all that."

West didn't actually believe the mantra everyone had been chanting at Red's memorial, but it seemed as good a time as any to bust out a bastardized version of it. Give the ghoul a little hope.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:30 am

With the scareon flutter tucked into a ball of white underneath her legs, Ev only spared the smallest glance to him; not that West would be able to tell, what with her mask concealing her face. She went quiet, however, as the demon went on, hands neatly folded in her lap letting slender fingers lace together. Her parents had told her of the many deaths and misfortune that befell Halloween due to those from the other world... but she could never understand why they did what they did. Perhaps she didn't harbor a hatred as deep and strong as most of her peers, but she was very wary of the power that humans possessed.

A small, subtle nod was give in response, acknowledgement if you will. The thought of Halloween actually going under teased in her mind, making the moths that were investigating West suddenly freeze, as though time had stopped to stand still. A few moments later, they resumed, before taking to the couch that both students sat on.... many heading towards Master to see what she was all about.
"I have faith that we'll be able to persevere. After all, us Halloweener's are a force to reckon with." she assured with a smile that grew along her face again.

For a moment, West wondered if he had said something more objectionable than usual when the moths froze in place. He didn't respond again at first, not even when the ghoul asserted her faith in Halloween and its citizens. He wasn't quite sure what to think of their chances overall, but he was at least determined to remain alive as long as he was able.

"Yeah," he said cautiously. "It would be like... tryin' t'kill all th'humans're somethin'." Impossible. He smoothed his expression to neutral in response to her smile. Contemplating the end of everything he knew was not something he normally spent much time doing, and doing so now left him itchy somehow.

Master might have hesitated at burning an entire demon, but a gang of moths gave her no pause at all. She batted at the bugs, golden eyes wide with glee, at least until West grabbed her paws and lifted her into the air by them, flipping her onto her back in his lap.

"Stoppit," he ordered, voice low. "Y'can't smack 'round other demon's stuff, y'bit..." He trailed off, glancing back up at his companion guiltily. One did not call a scareon a b***h in proper company. Master hissed, and he responded by covering her face with his palm.

"I, um, think I should go?" he said, remaining seated as he continued containing the struggling minipet. West didn't want to just leave, but burning down the demon dorms probably wasn't the best idea either.
