Bedeinka made her way through the tunnels. She had a guard with her, probably to make sure she didn't do anything. You would think they would trust the aunt of the current king. She wanted to talk to Nahasi, to stop him from doing unthinkable things. He told her that he had feelings toward his guard, a leopard named Juan. Than Eris told her that she was the one to bare him his cubs. She could not have that. An outsider and a leopard. Both would disgrace the Mazu.
She made it to Nahasi's den and found him fast asleep. Her first instinct was to wake him, but she thought better of it. Instead she would wait till he was sound of mind to talk to him. She was about to go back to the female's den when a wicked idea stirred in her head. If she couldn't talk to Nahasi about the issue, perhaps she could talk to his precious Juan. It would be beneficial for her to learn who she was going up against.
She told the guard to take her to Juan's den, which she quickly realized was right next to Nahasi. This irritated her to no end. A noble lion should be next to Nahasi not some leopard guard. She would have to see about rearranging the dens and put Juan as far away from Nahasi as she could. It would be diffecult to convince Nahasi to move Juan's den, but she was sure she could reason with him.
Bedeinka waited outside the den. "Is this guard Juan's den? I would very much like to speak to him." She called out, not wanting to go into the den.

It had been a week since his return to his duties. The leg was finally almost fully healed and back to its original strength, though he was stiff if he didn't keep it moving. Nahasi was currently asleep after a very busy day and Juan himself had retired to his den to rest. Another guard was on duty outside his King's quarters though he did not expect anyone to have need of Nahasi until the morning.
A strange voice pulled him from his thoughts later that evening, a strange, female voice. Looking up he frowned faintly at the dark entrance to his cave but stood and sliped down the short entrance tunnel, a narrow passage that formed half of a 'U', blocking his den against easy viewing from the passage outside. Slipping round the pillar of rock he appeared in front of his unexpected visitor, a female with eerily familiar eyes. Ahhh, so this was Nahasi's aunt. Dipping his head politely he greeted her in the traditional manner with a brief half-bow, but kept his gaze on her as a good guard should.
"How may I be of service M'Lady?" He asked, his low, rich tones polite yet distant as usual.

Bedeinka examined Juan from head to toe. She gave him a fake gentle smile. It was obvious why Nahasi liked him. He was a very handsome leopard indeed. "I heard that King Nahasi's guard wasn't feeling so well. I was very worried and decided to come check on you. Though I see now you are in excellent physical condition." He looked perfect as a guard, but she could never see him as anything else for Nahasi.
"How has my poor stressed nephew been? I also came here to visit him, only to find him fast asleep. The poor thing is so stressed. He needs to find a mate soon. A young lion who could relieve him of his stress, to be there for him to talk to. That's what King Nahasi needs." She watched Juan's eyes carefully to see if there were any different reactions to what she was saying. If she was lucky she would find out soon if he had feelings for the young king as well. If he did she would be sure to break if up.
The old ways of the pride had to be stay. There were a reason they lasted so long. If Nahasi were to choose Juan as his mate it would be disgraceful to the pride. SHe couldn't imagine what other prides would think about the mated pair. They would be disgusted by the action probably. She wouldn't let that humiliation fall on her nephew. She would protect him the best that she could.

Juan didn't move from his spot, blocking the entrance to his den. He had been polite, but distant in his greeting and that remained. There was no softening of his expression or his stance in response to her fake gentleness, instead he remained on guard, appearing deceptively relaxed yet his pale lilac gaze was sharp and alert.
At her question he regarded her a moment before answering, his voice unchanged from the simple, cool politeness of a moment ago. "The King has been busy, I am sure he will come and visit you in the Mothers den once he has the time, you can ask him then." There was no way she was going to get any personal information about his King from him, if Nahasi wanted her to know something, he was sure the king would tell her himself. "I would not presume to know what the King needs." Pale eyes hardened, raking her with a slightly disdainful glance as if she was claiming to know the king's mind better than the king himself, a grave error of pride on her part. "Aside from his rest, free of disturbances." Juan finished, his tone dropping a little colder, leaving her in no uncertain terms that this was not a leopard she could play her word games on.
"You should not be out alone, I will escort you back to your den, it will be no trouble I assure you." With his own fake smile, tone suitably pleasant and subservient, he stepped forwards, subtly driving her before him, away from his and Nahasi's dens, and back down the tunnel she had come up.

She smiled at him. He was going to be a hard one to crack, though she was certain she would get the information out of him. She would just have to be patient. For now she would just stir up trouble. "Thank you for escorting me. It's not too often I have someone so handsom keep me company." She complimented as they walked toward the female's den.
"I bet you have a lot of younger males interested in you. The strong, quiet type is always a fascination for others. I think it is lucky that our King is strong to such fascinations or I would believe he would be completely in love with you. I've been told that his interested lay with another though." She let out a sigh. "A young female sadly. It seems he has taken his father's foot steps. Such a shame too."
She thought about Eris and how she could not stand the lioness. The feelings between Eris and Nahasi were one sided to say the least. She knew Nahasi had little to no interest in Eris, but Eris was determined to bare him an heir. The thought sickened her to no end. "He'll probably run away with her, much like her father leaving you to guard his poor heir. I of course will be around to keep him safe. I wouldn't want anything to happen to the poor dear."
She let out another sigh. All this lying was tiring work. Especially when she was forced to talk about Eris. "I would think though that if someone were to confess their love to Nahasi perhaps he would realize his true feelings? I do not know Nahasi's subjects well enough to know which ones are interested in him though. I am sure there are a lot of handsome lions who are though, maybe a couple leopards?" She smirked at him.

Used to dealing with grumpy and quarrelsome males, her acceptance of his direction was a rather nice change of pace. He had expected some kind of resistance to his proposal of taking her back but he was certainly not going to look for some. Instead he let her turn around and fall in beside him rather than herding her along in front of him. She was being civil, if not pleasant, so he could be the same.
"Thank you for your compliment." He replied, though he didn't look at her and his expression didn't change from the cool distant look he had been wearing. "Nahasi is not his father, I would thank you to remember that." This time the leopard did turn, shooting her a cold look and making it very clear that while she could insult him, he would not let her insult the King. "Nahasi has worked night and day for the good of the pride, even if you do not have faith in him. It is just as well that his council does." Pausing he glanced at her from the corner of his eye, deciding to have a little fun of his own, for he certainly did not like this nosy lioness. "There are two leopards on the council who are going above and beyond their duties for Nahasi. Such model citizens they are, completely devoted to our King." Pausing he looked thoughtful. "I wonder if they have caught his eye yet, for it surely can't be long. I should think you would like that, ne? If a male possessed our King's heart, then you can stop worrying that he would copy his father's betrayal." Turning he gave her a reassuring smile, secretly hoping that ruffled her fur enough to get her to leave Nahasi alone for a while. There were more important matters than some old lioness's bored meddling.
He didn't react to her last comment, pale eyes returning front as he ducked under a low section of rock. But he certainly heard her and her words slipped past his mental defense to seed themselves within his subconscious. Could he ever confess? Would he loose Nahasi's friendship if he did so? Worry squirmed deep in his belly though he didn't let the emotion show. What is Nahasi felt the same way he did, but was just as nervous about telling Juan? Swallowing a mental sigh he wondered what te future held for them both.

Bedeinka was getting frustrated with the lake of results the leopard was showing. She decided it was a good thing he wasn't reacting. If he did have any interest in Nahasi he was good at hiding it. "I mean no insult my lovely leopard. I am just worried about my king that is all. I know he has far too much to worry about and a mate is just one he shouldn't have to deal with. That is why I thought it best if I get involved." She spoke confidently as they walked, keeping Juan in the corner of her eye.
"I felt that he would need some guidance in these tough times of his. Of course I have no desire to mettle in his pride affairs, just his love interest. I just feel so bad for the poor boy. He has no time to look for a possible mate. I want to do my best and help the pride find a proper consort for our king." She looked Juan straight in the eyes . "The king does not need a weak consort after all."
She looked away and kept walking. "The consort helps show the strength of the king so Nahasi needs a strong consort." She said thinking of the previous king and his female partner. She shook her head disapprovingly. "As Nahasi's aunt it is my duty to guide him in the right direction. It is the least I can do after all he has done for me."
She smiled thinking about how her little nephew had grown over the years. It seemed like he had just been a cub, playing hid and seek down in the female's den. She had helped watched him when he was little and would spend as much time as she could with him. Now days she was lucky to have a conversation with him. She was always worrying about him and how he was growing. Her hopes were that he would be a great king like his grandfather, her father and nothing like the previous king.
"Our king has grown up so much." She spoke proudly, more to herself than anything.
