Background: Like most trainers, Desert grew up think that world about pokemon. Every day he would travel to the haunted mansion in his village. There he would play with all of the ghost, poison, and occasionally psychic pokemon. Though he didn't realize the consequences that would come from playing around the toxic gasses that some of the pokemon produce. Every time he would go over to the mansion his eye sight would become weaker and weaker. It wasn't until he was 10 that he realized that he lost most of his eye sight. It didn't matter to him and decided to turn it into a strength. He also first leanred how to battle there as well. He made friends with all the pokemon at the mansion and created bonds with them. In his travels he comes back to the haunted mansion every now and again to check up on all the pokemon. His plan is to buy the estate so that he could spend as much time with all the pokemon as possible.

The first pokemon he caught was a ghastly who has been his companion sense the very beginning. They traveled together and even made it far enough to take on the Hoenn elite four, he lost to Sydney though. After his first law he trained his pokemon until he was able to get far enough and to take on the champion, Steven. Ever attempt he would lose and after so many loses Desert gave up and tried to live his life traveling. His travels have taken him to most of the regions, at each one he would catch new pokemon to put more power on his team in case he ever wanted to go back and challenge the elite four.

Ghastly was his starting pokemon and during his travels in the Hoenn region he was able to evolve his Ghastly into a Haunter followed by the team power house Gengar. Scizor was caught when he was in the johto region when it was only a scyther. When they first met scyther he attacked without warning causing his Gengar to retaliate almost immediately. The two became rivals ever sense they battled against each other. Blaziken was traded to him. The trainer didn't want Blaziken saying it was his weakest pokemon even though he started out with it. It took Desert all his might not to hit the trainer but decided against it. Hydreigon was traded to him cause his trainer couldn't control such a ferocious pokemon. It wanted to battle and destroy non-stop when it first joined Desert's team. It was difficult but Desert finally learned how to control the pokemon and earn its respect. Absol came to him in the hoenn region, it was during a break in at Slateport city that made the calamity pokemon show its face. He helped Absol stop the break in then caught it by challenging it to a battle. Lastly, he traded for a dratini from a dragon tamer who said he had too many. When it evolved into a dragonair he found the pokemon so beautiful and elegant that he decided to keep it from evolving into a dragonite.

He heard knews about the governments plans as he was entering the sinnoh region. The idea interested him and made his mind wonder what it would be like if he was fused with pokemon. He wanted to know what kind of power he would have and if he could finally be able to beat Steven. He then began his move to help the government in any way possible.
