Taking a few more steps forward, Mei-li knew that she was far from home. These days, she went farther and farther away, for longer and longer amounts of time. She knew that, at this age, it really shouldn't have been anything strange or out-of-the-ordinary, but she felt it quite necessary to stay with her father sometimes, to at least make sure he hadn't done something incredibly stupid. She loved him, she did, but most anyone who knew the neon male knew that he was a little, well, bonkers. He had hid it very well when she and her siblings were young, but now that it was just the two of them, Mei didn't think he really cared about hiding it anymore. At least it provided for some really interesting days.
Now, the sun was starting to set and Mei had no plans of heading home. He'd be fine for a little while without her, right? Yeah, no problems there. With a slight bounce in her step, she kept walking along, almost looking like she was dancing to a song only she could hear. When she was young, she always thought that she was crazy like her father. It had always scared her to pieces, but as she grew and went out in the world, she found that it was just the 'gift of sight.' Not that it ever really did her any good. Everything that she saw just came in really strange image sequences that made absolutely no sense to her. When she described them to her father, though, they made absolute perfect sense to him. Sometimes, life just didn't seem fair.

Keito ached. It felt like every pore of his body ached, but he knew that was a lie. He had healed up from his run in with that vicious coalition of cheetahs, and the bird watchmaid that had been forced upon him (by the bird herself), had left him in peace. His wounds had all healed, a few criss-crosses of scars littering his body in pale form but the grey of his pelt masked some of it, as the fur grew back around the former cuts.
Oddly enough, even though the wounds healed, the pain still remained at times. Like this evening, when his entire body just…ached.
He ignored it as best he could, and continued to walk though, trying to find his bearings. He had to get back to his brothers and sister, but he was not sure which way to go yet. He was almost reluctant to go back, though guilt ate at him for that thought. They were his family, and he cared deeply for them, but he had failed the mission he had been sent out on, and gotten himself injured for the sake of a female. A female he had no romantic interest in, even. Pathetic, really.
Unknown to him, he had begun to limp lightly, only a slight misstep in his back right leg which had taken the brunt of much of the attack. There was no scar though, surprisingly, simply muscle strains. He no longer limped, normally, but his tiredness dragged the phantom injury back.

Taking in a deep breath, Mei-li was fairly close to summing this evening up as being completely dull and boring. That is, until she just barely caught sight of something a little ways off. Straining her eyes to see, whatever it was, she was sure, must have a very dark coat, as she could only make out its faint outline in the darkening light. This had to be a sign, right? Though, she hadn’t asked her father about her vision the previous night, she was certain that this meeting had to be fate. Why else would someone appear right as she was giving up hope on the idea?
Turning her path to head towards the dark figure, Mei had an impossibly happy smile on her face. “Oh! Oh! Wait little shadow!” Nearing the dark figure, she could easily see that it wasn’t ‘little,’ but she didn’t really know what else to say.

Keito didn’t seem to realise the voice was speaking to him for a moment, he froze and tilted his head. His leg throbbed as he paused. Tilting his head, he glanced backwards towards the sound, squinting tired eyes in an effort to focus. He did not respond to ‘little shadow’ usually, but the voice was such a surprise in the quiet landscape that any name would have made him turn.
The female heading towards him was so…bright. He blinked, fearing for a moment that he was delusional and simply imagining her, but after a few bats of his eyelids, she was still there and still heading his way.
He opened his mouth to speak, and barely let out a croak. He scowled. Stupid silence. He hadn’t spoken since his nursemaid had left, having no need to, and so when it came time to speak, his voice decided to disobey. “Hello miss,” he responded finally, voice husky and rough.

Watching the other figure as she neared, was fairly sure that she'd caught its attention. Her heart jumped a little, in great expectation of the encounter. If she had been thinking carefully, she probably shouldn't have just started barreling towards a complete stranger, especially one that she couldn't make out very well in the beginning.
Slowing herself a few yards out, she took in a deep breath, slightly panting still. She carefully padded towards the other, ears flicking up eagerly at the sound of his voice.
"Oh, hello!" Grinning brightly, she was so excited that he didn't just turn and run off at her initial greeting. "Sorry for calling you little, but I was just so bored roaming around all by myself. And then I saw you, and I just couldn't let the opportunity pass me by." Taking in a deep breath, Mei had used most of her air up while rambling; she had become so excited, it all just spilled out of her mouth. Turning her head to the side, she looked a bit embarrassed about it.
