"CARTER!"

The yell sent a shockwave through his body, forcing his eyes open as he jolted awake. He jumped again a second time as the shout was followed by a clatter of something hitting the bathroom door. He sat up and swung his feet out of bed, his body moving before he was even fully awake. "Dam-"

"I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON'T WAKE UP I'M GOI-"

The awkward steps broke into a run as Carter threw himself at the bathroom door, shoulder turning numb before he belatedly reached out and gave the brass knob a quick twist to open it. The door slammed open as Carter barged in, olive green eyes wide as he caught a glimpse of what could have only been Damian disappearing into the bathroom mirror with barely a ripple.

"DAMIAN!" Carter threw himself towards the mirror and snatched at it, cursing and jerking his hand back as he encountered the mirror's hard surface. "This isn't funny! I better still be asleep," but even that sounded lame to him. There was no way that this could have been happening. But he saw it: Damian went into the mirror. Carter reached forward and pried the medicine cabinet back, double-checking. Yep -- plain old medicine. He felt the mirror again. Blank. Smooth. Could he have imagined it?

He was conflicted. Yes he saw Damian go into the mirror. He heard him shout, and the mirror's reflection showed that there was now liquid soap splattered across the back of the bathroom door. Carter ran both of his hands through his hair, unsure. His rational side reasoned that there was no way anyone could have gone through a mirror. What he saw was a trick, an illusion. Was he still asleep?

No, he answered. The floor was cold, and his toes were currently wiggling in even colder liquid soap. Damian was here. Somewhere. Carter pulled out his senshi phone and began to press buttons on it, his eyebrows furrowing as he tried to remember where the senshi map went. He could detect Damian with this, right? Or was that only when he was as Orion?

Wait. "POSEIDON!" Carter yelled, hurrying out of the bathroom. "PO! Where are you?! I need you RIGHT NOW!"

Poseidon liked to think he was an excellent guardian cat. He was observant, and supportive, and would never let one of his charges get kidnapped right out of his own home. Well, that was unless he had a toy filled with catnip in front of him.

Unfortunately for Damian that was exactly the situation Poseidon found himself in as the redhead was being ripped through his bathroom mirror. The Mau mix was out on the small back patio that was bordered by their even smaller backyard, not that it could really be called a yard in good conscious. Poseidon was so busy rolling in the grass batting a catnip filled mouse toy between his paws that when he picked up on an unknown energy signature coming from inside the house it didn't raise red flags until it was too late.

Luckily, Carter's yelling did get through to the tomcat and he froze with his tail between his paws having grabbed it instead of the toy somewhere along the way. A moment later Poseidon flipped over leaving the toy in the grass and he ran into the house through the open sliding door, trying to shake off the catnip haze that was blanketing him. Seeing Carter come out of his boy's shared bedroom he gathered his energy and sprang from the ground, launching himself at the bluenette's chest. He could tell something was definitely wrong by the teen's tone alone. "What happened?" He braced his paws on Carter's chest, staring up into green eyes that mirrored his own.

"PO!" Carter shouted as soon as he caught sight of the cat, arms open to catch the guardian cat that came leaping. "What happened? What happened?!" Carter spun around and marched back into the bathroom, spinning Poseidon around and holding him out so that his nose was almost touching the glass. "I saw Damian disappear through the mirror! You can sense him out of senshi form, right?! Sense! Where is he?!"

This has to be a dream. This can't be real, please find him please find him, tell him he's alright. Carter had to have made that up. Damian's just outside the apartment, right?

Po could tell from the second he landed in Carter's arms that something was very definitely wrong. It wasn't just his tone, but the mix of distraught and panic on the bluentte's face. For a moment the guardian was overcome with guilt that he let tragedy befall his senshi, but that emotion was quickly pushed away. He had more important things to worry about, and feeling guilty would only get in the away of what needed to be done.

When he was shoved towards the mirror the Mauvian blinked, reaching out a pay to push against the glass. It was most definitely solid. Even as Carter was demanding answers Poseidon was silent. Now wasn't the time to panic, now was the time to take a moment and think so that was what he did. After a moment of silence he spoke. "I can only sense Orion, not Damian, I'm sorry Carter. Now, put me down."

Once all four of his paws were on the bathroom floor the cat summoned his cellphone. He only barely knew how to use the thing and it showed as he struggled to slide it open. Finally the keypad appeared and Po tilted his head to the side staring down at it. "Now, if I can remember how to do this..." The words were grumbled to himself as a single claw slid out so that he could press the buttons. Two button presses and a beep later the phone was ringing....and ringing....and ringing. Finally the call went to voicemail and after a bit of grumbling the guardian left a message. "Astraea, this is Poseidon. I need critical information related to the disappearance of one of my senshi. Get in touch with me as soon as possible." Without a proper salutation Poseidon ended the call and vanished the phone.

Looking up at Carter his green eyes were serious. "We are on our own for now. Are you positive you saw Damian go through the mirror?" It wasn't that he was doubting Carter, it was just that the silver cat had never heard of such a thing and if it was true it didn't bode well for Damian at all. If it was true it meant someone unknown had taken him through the mirror, because there was no way Damian could have gone through it on his own.

"That's it? That's it?!" Carter asked sharply, his voice bitter with disappointment and disgust. "That's all you can do? Call another cat? Damnit Po!" Carter turned and pounded the wall with the side of his fist, venting his anger. It wasn't directed at Po -- it was aimed at himself. If only he was faster. If only he made it. If only, if only --

Carter's head snapped up as he turned, glaring at the cat. "Yes!" He snapped, "He went straight through the mirror and I can't... I can't... I can't follow him."

Carter's tone didn't seem to ruffle Poseidon's fur, the Mau wasn't the type to panic in crisis situations and he could tell that the bluenette just needed to be angry at someone and Poseidon was the only one around.

When it was confirmed that Damian had gone through the mirror Poseidon was quiet for a moment. "We can't follow him, but we can go looking for him. If he powers up I'll be able to locate him." It wasn't much of a plan, in fact it wasn't really a plan at all. But looking would keep Carter busy and keep him distracted from the fact that his partner had been kidnapped.

As soon as the words were out of Poseidon's mouth, Carter darted out of the bathroom, nearly tripping over Poseidon and slipping on the spilled hand soap. He would worry about the mess later. Right now he frantically searched, stumbling over the spell in his haste to do as the cat suggested.

Poseidon was then picked up by Super Sailor Merope and flung over a shoulder, the bluenette already rushing towards the door. "Hold on!" He barked, "We're going to tear apart this city until we find him, got it?!"

Poseidon was quick to follow Carter out of the bathroom his whiskers wrinkling as he picked his way through the soapy mess that was spread over the threshold. He didn't particularly like soap, especially in his paws. It made cleaning himself extremely unpleasant.

He was standing in the bedroom for less than a minute before he was scooped up and slung across Merope's shoulder. He dug his claws into the super Sailor's vest to hold on careful not to p***k his skin when he did so. "We'll find him, Merope, one way or another." His ears pressed back against his skull as Merope took to the streets, but he didn't complain about the speed, they had quite a lot of ground to cover after all.
