My boyfriend that I've been with a year and a half started to have BAD dandruff a couple of month ago and his hair has been just looking yuck. He's 17, thin-ish hair, curly, and a mass load of dandruff. What could i use because we have gone threw a bunch of different dandruff shampoos and they don't seem to work. Do any of you know a recipe that would be excellent to use?

Sometimes you build up a resistance to the shampoo. Try using more than one
Lather and rinse twice when you wash your hair.
Tar Shampoo WARNING: Tar Shampoo works great BUT - It smells, can irritate sensitive skin and it will stain your hair if you have a light color of hair. It can takes weeks to wash it all out. BUT it does work. People have been using Tar Shampoo for over 200+ years to cure dandruff.
NOTE:If you use tar shampoo, rinse your hair with lemon juice and conditioner, or creme rinse to get rid of any lingering odor from the shampoo.
DO NOT SCRATCH IT
After exercise or strenuous work that makes you sweat. Shower and shampoo as soon as possible. Sweat irritates the scalp and speeds up the flaking of skin cells.
Hope that helped.

Tell him to drink more water. Believe it or not dandruff can be caused by dehydration and no amount of shampoos can fix that. Tell him to drink at least 2 liters (8 cups) of water a day!. smile Also, make sure he's getting his vitamins, break out those Flintstones and shove 'em down his throat if you have too!
Also, you can try this natural home remedy:
Crush up some aspirin, about 15-20, and dissolve it in about half a cup of warm extra virgin olive oil, massage into the scalp, wrap head in warm towel for about 20 min, and wash out with regular shampoo, conditioner, and cold water. Rinse once a week with apple cider vinegar to keep the dandruff away.

Try this: Mix one whole egg and 1 tablespoon of olive oil with a cup of shampoo and have him wash his hair with it (he doesn't have to use all of it, he can save the surplus for the next day in the fridge). Then mix equal parts vinegar with water and add some lemon juice (not lemonade or anything like that, just the natural juice), about a tablespoon for every 1cup of the vinegar/water mix, and tell him to use that after the eggy shampoo and leave it to soak in for a few minutes like a conditioner before lightly rinsing. Try that for a couple days and see how it goes ^_^ CarbonRose He's allergic to asprin, i heard eggs work is it true?

If dandruff-specific and moisturizing shampoos and conditioners (is he using both?) aren't doing enough, and if these other suggestions don't either, suggest he talk to a dermatologist and get something prescribed to him. He may not feel very manly doing it, but as someone who has ridiculously dry skin and knows what it's like, he may not know how bad it is until he feels how much more comfortable he is once he's treated it.
PS I also second the Tar shampoo. Luckily I have dark hair so the color didn't bother me, and I just washed a second time with regular shampoo afterwards to minimize the smell. Not perfect, but it helped.

Oops, forgot to answer that. ^_^u Yes, if the dandruff is just caused by dry scalp. No. if it's fungal or infected. Yes, if it's dry from the fungal/bacterial cause and used with an antiseptic such as the vinegar/lemon rinse I recommended. CarbonRose Still wondering about the eggs?
