HEY GUYS! Lural wants to draw, so it's contest time!

That's right, time for a contest. But not just any contest. It's Semi custom contest time!

But we're gonna make you work for it. For this contest, you're going to be using Tektek's avatar creator do design the magical stage for a kid! Keep in mind that this is strictly for the outfit, not for the physical appearance of the kid.

Even though you're designing the magical stage, you still have to earn it with the RPs. You will, however, get to see sketches and WIPs, if you want, as the kid is being drawn and colored.

What: Avatar contest for semi-custom!
When: Friday, January 6th - Tuesday, February 14th

There are a few rules though. Please read them carefully.

1: No gaia specific items. This means no items with Gaia's logo, gaia's anniversary items, OMG, BTK, WTF, etc.
2: No single item avatars. So no "I am" poses.
3: You must use the "fake base" white skin. Yeah, we're not doing skin color (yet)
4: No hair or eyes. No makeup. This is JUST the outfit.
5: No cluttered avatars. We want you to look nice, maybe even epic. Not like your closet exploded.
6: No background items
7: No sidekicks, companions, plushies, or other animal/people items
8: Link directly to the tektek page with the item list, this will help the artist see what we're drawing.
9: Use common sense here guys.
10: You may submit up to 3 avatars.
11: It is not staff's responsibility to give you any feedback on the avatars. Use your best judgement to make something spectacular.

12: Post all submissions in this thread in a single post. You may edit this post as many times as you need while the contest is open.

15: These will all be kids. No teachers, no TAs, no college students. They will be going to one of the high schools

Disclaimer: The stage 2 will not look EXACTLY like the tektek. It's more of an inspirational thing. Colors will be coordinated, so you don't need to worry about if one item is only in blue and you want a pink theme.

More then one winner may be picked if we're inspired! However, if no avatar submissions inspires the artist the contest may be extended, or closed without naming a winner.

This isn't just about appearance. We want to know a little about the kid as a person too!

-Lural is more likely to pick common aspects and basic elements
-If you don't win, but you're attached to the idea, make a quest thread! Then you can refine the idea, and if we have a custom event again, or if the staff sees the improvements, you might find yourself +1 kid
-While disabilities are a part of life, and we don't wish to discriminate, be very mindful and respectful of any handicap you may try to give your kids. Sometimes the portrayal of these characters are offensive. Lural is not likely to pick a kid with a disability for this reason

Theoretical powers: Ninko uses paper talismans to focus his magic. He has a total of three that can only be used once per transformation:
Tainted Aura (1) Using this talisman, Ninko's claws begin to waft with a malign purple energy. Damage inflicted by Ninkos tainted claws is treated like poison. This poison saps the physical strength of those whom he cuts. If the wound remains untreated, it continues to have a draining effect, albeit a slow one. It should be noted that all Ninko needs to is lick a wound he has inflicted to counter the inflected poison.

Fox Fire (1) By using this talisman Ninko imbues his claws with a fire element. The claws glow a soft blue color, and silver flames flicker over them. These flames only deal damage when the claws are cutting through something. Merely touching something with his claws does not burn it. The claws have to be actually striking with it's pointed tips in order to burn the target.

Obvious Distraction (1) Using this talisman creates a...obvious distraction! This distraction can vary depending on Ninkos need at the time. Traditionally it is a big plumb of smoke or a flash of bright blinding light.

Intended personality: Playful with a healthy admiration for pranks and puns. Moderately outgoing, he has no problem approaching strangers. Lucaus has a rather strong sense of loyalty to those he has come to identify as 'family'. Right or wrong, he will stand by their side and support them reguardless of the cost to himself.
Other: He has a slightly dare may care care approach to his appearance to reflect his personality and a single earring in his left ear.
*Alone: Lucaus has no family. Because of this, he often has moments of melancholy. Being without family, it causes him to cling to what few friends he manages to make. So much so that the possible loss of even one can lead him to doing desperate things to keep their friendship.
**Color Blind: Lucaus is diagnosed with the type of colorblindness called protanope. For the protanope, the brightness of red, orange, and yellow is much reduced compared to normal. This dimming can be so pronounced that reds may be confused with black or dark gray, and red traffic lights may appear to be extinguished. They may learn to distinguish reds from yellows and from greens primarily on the basis of their apparent brightness or lightness, not on any perceptible hue difference. Violet, lavender, and purple are indistinguishable from various shades of blue because their reddish components are so dimmed as to be invisible. E.g. Pink flowers, reflecting both red light and blue light, may appear just blue to the protanope.

Theoretical powers: Horse attributed skills. He can run as fast as a thoroughbred horse. Roughly 40 MPH at full speed, though only for short distances. He can punch or kick with enough strength that it would feel as if getting kicked by an actual horse. His strength is slightly enhanced, allowing him to lift or push things that a horse may possibly be able to move.

Intended personality: Malachai is a generally nice guy. He just has a bad habit of putting things off to the last minute. Cleaning his room, doing the dishes, working on homework, leaving for school... There just always seems to be something a bit more interesting to do at the moment. Malachai may not be the best choice to rely on, but he has no problem stepping up and enjoying himself. Shamelessly he will engage in dancing, or skipping across the school grounds when in a good mood.
Other: In his magical mode he could have some sort of blaze or spot like you would find on some horses.

Theoretical powers: Ranger hefts around a giant crossbow on his back. When he cranks the wheel back and locks the string into place, a large wooden shafted bolt appears in the cradle. The crossbow can create a unlimited number of shots, but it takes a full round (A full post) For him to crank the wheel and get the string into place. The crossbow is not a ungodlyhuge size. It is about the size of a large shield. Allowing Ranger to carry it on his back when he needs to use both hands. Despite it's large size, it's weight does not seem to hinder Ranger. Anyone else who would try to lift or use the crossbow would find it extremely heavy and hard to handle however.

In addition, Ranger has a enhanced sense of sight. He can see in greater distances then the common person, as well as notice better details then others can normally. Ranger can perceive the slight disturbance the wind might have on a shot he is going to take, allowing for greater accuracy then a normal person could have.

Intended personality: Big, jock, blockhead. As sharp as a bat and about as graceful in thought and words. Brent is by no means a idiot mind you. He can read, knows his mathematics, and knows the difference between a funny joke and a mean spirited one. Being a meat head, for lack of a better term, Brent is not only a part of the schools football team. He happens to be the Quarterback. His strong throwing arm with his sharp insight on who and how to pass the ball landing him the position. Not to mention his ability to take a tackle and still get up after five or six dog piles.

Brent has a healthy appreciation for being a teen. He enjoys visits to the mall. Where he can chow down on cheap mall food and oogle the good looking girls there on shopping trips. Brent is exceptionally proud of being a jock, so much so that he wears his letterman jacket everywhere he goes. Even in the summer. Brent is not so much a block head that he does not know how to present himself so adults will get only the best impression of him...and he may not be beyond faking interest in some things in order to get a girl to date him.

Under all his jockyness though, Brent hides a secret interest in a certain table top game. He sneaks out at night to play and goes out of his way to lie about what he does. After all, who can respect a Quarterback who knows what THACO stands for?

Theoretical powers:
Feather Swarm- With a wave of his hand he sets a cloud of razor sharp black feathers to envelope the target, these feathers swirl and cut in the same area that they have been set so all the target needs to do is move out of the area of effect.

Blind- another wave of his hand will send up a mass of feathers to encircle the targets head, unlike his other talent these feathers do not cut, just inhibit sight and moves with the target for a few seconds.

Murder- Sends a murder of ravens or crows (Or Chompahs I'd like him to have a murder of Chompah's) to decend upon the target, clawing and pecking at them until they are frightened away or his hold on them weakens. This could also be just the impression of birds swarming over their body and attacking as well.

Caw- An escape tactic, he gives off a caw and his body explodes into a flurry of Ravens, only one of them is the real him so he tries to escape tricky situations this way. Plus he can use this talent to spy on people without giving away his presence. (Unless of course they have a way of knowing it's him)

Intended personality: Kael is the type of guy that will sit back and watch others for a while and try to get a feel for them before he'd attempt to approach them and start up a friendship. He's soft spoken and tends to get romantic notions easily, abet these notions run on the darker side of the emotional spectrum. Being bi-sexual this can happen to any man or woman that he comes into contact with that strikes his fancy and seems to have an interest in him. He may not come forward with his feelings right away because his feelings tend to change if he finds someone else to be a more suitable match. He's just the type of guy that doesn't want to be alone for that is how he feels and he seeks out a partner with a determination that tends to get him hurt for his forward nature. He's learned this so he's reined in his amorous nature a bit. Set to brooding and then watching his interests end up with other people drives him crazy. He is very likely to become obsessed with the person that he sees to be his perfect match. None of his interests have driven him in a sexual nature, it is more for the company... to have someone there to hold him, to adore him. He's obsessed with many things. His hair, his clothing, his grades and the opinions others have about him.

Theoretical powers:
Tremor- By slamming his feet or his fists into the ground or against a wall he can cause violent tremors, like a mini earth quake in the area. Possibly throwing off the footing and aim of any earth bound person where it takes effect.

Earthen Shield- Throws up a 'him sized' wall of earth in front of him to deflect an incoming attack. It doesn't stop all attacks of course and sometimes it just slows down a powerful missile like attack so it won't do as much damage.

Flesh like Stone- While his outward appearance remains the same, his flesh seems to take on a much tougher quality. A lot like stone but not so strong as to stop everything from hurting him.

Bringing the Pain!- This is where his football skills come in to play, he will literally tackle a target and drive them into the ground under his massive girth or he'll start to squeeze, attempting to crush them.

Stone Fling- He can yank up chunks of stone from the earth, even broken concrete or brick walls and send the mass flying towards his target... The smaller the projectile the faster he can do this. But the larger the projectile, the more fun he has doing it.

Intended personality: Everyone in his school would know him, not necessarily his name but the sound of his booming voice echoing through the halls with a passionate howl of "GO TEAM!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!" And until a teacher or principal can contain him any other form of grunt, howl or growl. He spends his time hanging out with the jocks, talking about upcoming games. Checking out all the cute girls and even flirting with some of them, not always in the most charming of ways either, he's been known to let loose some hellacious catcalls in his day. Tank is easy to get along with as long as you like football or at least try, he's more then happy to talk about it as long as it doesn't interfere with his practices, workouts and games. He's a giant of a young man, about 6'6" and over 250lbs of all muscle.... Which makes him the perfect linebacker. (This is taken from Football 101 and shared here because it's funny) Linebackers are a special breed. They like to torture small animals, drink blood and eat children for breakfast Tank spends so much time with football that his academics are suffering for it. He's always in need of help in his classes so he doesn't fail and get cut from the team. He knows how important his grades are and while he does try hard he's just not all that bright. He needs tutors, resource rooms and a lot of one on one time with teachers to finally get it right. But it's all for the team so it's worth it and it's for his future, he wants to play pro football one day and he'll have to get himself into a college to do that. Preferably on a football scholarship so at least he's not too dense to understand the importance of a good education.

Theoretical powers: Ashley would call down the power of the stars and direct a beam of light at her enemies (imagine the kamehameha) which leaves them temporally stunned. Yes, Ashley would be a human flashbang grenade. Her reaction area/length of time would develop over time.

Another possible power is that she'd be able to send down meteorites/"shooting stars" down at her enemies from the sky. This would be small sized and few at first and more as she learned her powers.
Hair: Short and curly - imagine Meg Ryan before she started looking like the Joker. She has platinum blond hair.
Eye color: A deep aquamarine color, almond in shape
Skin tone: Lightly tanned
Intended personality: Ashley is the stereotypical book worm who doesn't get out much - or so she seems to those who don't talk to her. To anyone who does attempt to engage Ashley in conversation, Ashley will put her proverbial foot in her mouth. She doesn't quite get why people have to go through pleasantries or bother with social conventions and she can come across as rude.

This isn't far from the mark, but she's also not really cruel - at least intentionally. Ashley just feels that the things her peers worry about are trivial to things such as bringing about a cure to the common cold or constantly maintaining good grades as to put her in the way of reaching her goal of graduating a year earlier than the other students in her class.

What need is romance when there is so much more out there? Or so Ashley thinks. What she doesn't really let herself think about is how lonely it can get being alone all the time. On one hand she puts up the front that she's okay without others, but on the other she sits on the sidelines and yearns to be swept away.
