[This is an ORP taking place somewhere in the school. Feel free to walk in if you wish.]

Malcolm had been wandering around school, punching things in his way - mostly Christmas critters - and trying to locate their school nurse - who should be somewhere in school, since she couldn't have gone out of school premises between the time she was in her office and the time the barrier appeared... It was too sudden, after all.

Right now, he was back where he started - the nurse's office. It was still empty, and he almost regretted sending Vlad out to pull that sled; just almost though, since he was sure that the students needed the help since they were pretty much ambushed.

And then he remembered that he had a little device. A device in his pocket that would surely help...

... Malcolm sent Cricket a text just as Vlad burst into the room with two students in tow. The invisible dog was panting, and covered in glitter, but barked happily at seeing his master.

Malcolm just took one look at Sammy, and then fired off a second text. And a third, because he did not want Cricket to think of him as creepy.

Cricket didn't waste time in walking, phasing through one wall, and then moving on through a next - it was nothing unusual, though Cricket had always seemed to have an affinity for doors rather than just passing through things as they came along. Still, even as she ascended the stairs, she attempted to figure out this stupid phone-device-thing...

Text: im on my way

Ugh, she abhored the spelling in that, but it was the best she could do with her lack of experience without it taking three minutes to write - because within three minutes, Cricket would already be back at the infirmary, standing in the doorway and staring at the two students that were..sparkling...all over her floor.

She didn't seem pleased by the sight. Then again, her entire infirmary seemed to be rather demolished as well. Phooey.

The look on her face said everything.

Sammy could only stumble along, one hand held tight to a rope that bobbed around in her hands. She couldn't really make out anything, the only thing she saw was shifting colors behind her scarf blindfold. The lack of vision and light dulled some of the rainbow vision, but it didn't stop her from seeing the inside of the scarf as a rainbow montage.

Her other arm was draped over Siddie's shoulder, Dog lead the way, Siddie made sure she didn't trip. Simple system, but it still left Sammy confused and gritting her teeth as she tried to figure out what was going on.

Eventually they burst into a room and the tugging on the rope stopped, "Er. Is this it? Siddie where are we.... I don't want to take this scarf off and see for myself. It'll just end up looking like rainbow vomit again."

She was completely unaware of the two professors standing in front of them inspecting her rainbow-soaked form and odd choice of fashion.

"We're in the nurse's office," Siddie said quietly to Sammy. "Professor Malcolm and Nurse Cricket are here." She offered the professors a nervous smile. "Er. Sammy's been covered in rainbow. She's having trouble seeing," she explained. "The invisible dog brought us here. I'm um. I'm sorry about the sparkles," she added.

The music once again goes quiet all over campus, and in the silence, the turning of gears growls and grinds deep underground seems louder than ever. And then even louder until the air is vibrating with the thunderous rhythm. The forms of defeated foes soon begin to waver and then...not quite dissipate, but rather turn misty, into a fog of sorts. The wisps of their remains travel outward and upward, until the sky above the school is dark with the restless fog.

Some students may find it...familiar. And when the clockwork cacophony shifts and twists, subtly, ever so slowly into a chorus of terrible, dark whispers...it becomes very familiar indeed.

The air is soon full of hundreds of voices, a speaking at once in a maddening hum of confusion, anger, and a crushing, mind-numbing loneliness.

To an extent, Cricket seemed frustrated by the rainbows and sparkles all up in her infirmary, but she settled in to observe Sammy, picking up her arm and looking over it curiously, pulling one hand away and rubbing her fingers together.

"It's hard for me to work with such limited information, ghoulie." Cricket said, looking to Siddie. "How did it happen? What exactly is meant by 'seeing rainbows'? What is underneath this scarf you are so uninclined to take off.." Cricket pointedly aimed her last inquiry towards Sammy instead.

"What you've done is walked in and said 'I hurt' without actually telling me where it hurts and how badly."

"I'm sorry, ma'am," Siddie said. "Most of it happened before I got there." She quieted, looking to Sammy to explain in more detail.

Without another word Sammy tugged the scarf off, her eyes open wide again, the usually yellow orb where now tinted a series of shifting colors as Sammy seemed to stare past Cricket hissing softly. "A robot Santa Scout half colored grey, half rainbow, self destructed. I was right on top the robot when it did. Then everything was covered in rainbows, and all I can see are colored rainbow blobs."

She glanced around again hissing softly, "The more I keep them open the brighter things are... the worse the colors get..."

For a moment she paused, "What's all that sound?"

Cricket looked over the ghoul's eyes curiously, looking at the changing colors. "I honestly think it will just take some time for it to wear off..." she said honestly. "I mean, I could give you a more immediate solution, but...I can't promise you'd like it long term." she noted, even as her head began to burn. It was mostly around the edges, but still....

it seemed like there was a haze of voices trying to shove themselves into her head.

Still, she remained as passive as was possible for a Nurse who had already established she was rather horrifying.

"But how long to wear off? You hear... those voices too right?" She glanced up and past Cricket looking at the ceiling blinking rapidly to dull some of the brightness of the rainbows. "What if we're attacked I can't do anything like this."

"What would the... immediate solution be, and would I be able to see like normal?"

"What voices?" Cricket feigned innocence, the markings on her face flickering away from her eyes, and then flooding in towards them, as though silently screaming with agony about the noises bleeding right into the nurse's ectoplasm. She knew exactly what this was.... it wasn't like she was completely deaf, after all.

"Time. Probably a week, possibly more.

As for a more...immediate solution, the answer is 'interesting' and 'maybe'."

Sammy seemed to stand rigid, fingers slowly reaching to scratch at the blackened bone of her left arm as Cricket feigned innocence to the sound. She couldn't see Cricket as more then a floating blob of color, she didn't know if she was lying or not.

"... we don't really have a week though. Not right now at least." She shifted side to side on her feet still scratching her left arm. "Interesting and maybe don't sound good but it sounds better then being killed here now because I couldn't see..."

"So you want me to fix it right now then?" Cricket asked, clearly checking to be absolutely sure that was what Sammy wanted.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:06 pm

Sammy looked at Siddie for a moment, then back to Cricket.

"Do it."

At least she wouldn't be able to watch like when Riley and the mouths.... yeah... ew.

And oh, there were mouths..... though this was actually because Cricket unbraided her hair down the front and it went to town. After all, it was hard to eat eyes out with a big mouth when they were so small. And it .....ironically wouldn't be felt at all, actually. Painless, even. The edges of the hair, even as they devoured, seemed to.. fill something in as they took away.

They wouldn't look half as normal as they had previously, but...
...
....

Well, Take FEAR and replace FEAR aside, it seemed Cricket had deemed it appropriate to just rebuild Sammy's eyes altogether.
