[Syaoran-Puu]

Alice Cullen woke up with a start, sweat beaded on her brow and her heart thundering in her chest... could it be.... was it truely.... Carlisle! She had thought him dead all these years, scarificed to allow her, Jasper and Resnemse to escape. Yet here he was, in the flesh.. well the vision flesh at least, walking towards the courting field. She bounced to her four hooves and without pausing or thinking too much she head off towards the field at full pelt. She ran, deciding that spreading her wings and getting into flight would take far to long.... in the vision it had been twilight when the man she had always known as father approached. That was close.... too close.

Huffing and puffing she entered teh field... he had to be here! He just had to... surely it wasn't a dream.... not again... not now.... he eyes darted around the corner with frantic urgency as she tried to find him, tried to cling onto the thread of hope she had allowed to weave around her heart. Surely fate would not be so cruel as to take this from her now..... now that she had breathed life into the notion.

Carlisle was out exploring, he adn't covered as much of the area as he normally would, and he had a student that needed teaching. So he was out wandering seeing what he could find where to help further the lessons of the young flutter he mentored. And so he found himself nosing around a field he had not been to before, scrutinizing the flora intently as he made his way along the edge, towards a path that lead off into the forest. A path that he would soon be traveling along if he didn't find what he was looking for here.

Alice stepped out of the herdlands boundary... something she hadn't done in forever.... especially with the bad pregnancy and nearly losing her three adorable children. Still.... she couldn't see him. Her heart started to ache... she had dreamt it hadn't she? Dreamt he had somehow managed to escape, managed to seek them out.... she had always hoped he would. Frantic eyes refused to stop looking... and... then her voice joined in. Just once, she thought, she would call his name only once before giving up. "CARLISLE?" There was a pleading note in her voice, a desperate longing.

He hadn't herd or noticed that another soquili had been approaching, but hearing his name called with that lost child tone had his head snapping up. A moment later it niggled at his mind whos voice it was, though it was a little different from how he remembered it.... "Alice?" At first not calling loudly, turning round, trying to see where it had come from, by they were at a bad angle and tress and bushes got in the way. Calling out louder, unsure if he had herd right now. "ALICE??" Moving towards the middle of the field from where he had been by the edge, coming into her view though he was looking the wrong way.

Alice heard her name, as if carried on the wind from far away... she had imagined it? Surely... but no, she heard it again. Hope bloomed again and she started her hunt with more passion. It didn't take long for a figure to become clear before her... one that caused her to stop in her tracks. Carlisle! In the flesh... alive! Her heart thundered in her chest, beating so loud she was sure the whole world would hear it.

She closed her eyes for a moment, opening them slowly to check she hadn't been imagining things... but now.... he was still there, looking for the bodiless voice that had summoned him into being. She jumped into action, racing towards him, calling his name over and over again. Not wanting him to vanish again... "Carlisle... Carlisle.... Carlisle.....!"

He looked round and for a moment didn't recognise Alice asshe charged at him. Or thts what it looked like. Then he realised who was running at him and a big smile spread over his face. "Alice." Not yelling her name, his voice was warm and soft, its normal gentle self, the same tone he had used before when he was especially pleased with something or someone. A tone full of family feeling. Spreading his wings in expectation of the hug.

Alice didn't even hesitate as she embraced him, her head burying into his neck while her wings wrapped around his lower body softly. She was much smaller than he was, had always been petite incomparison to the rest of the family.

For what felt like a small eternity she simply held him, didn't speak, didn't even breath much... just held onto the man she had thought never to see again. Eventually she voiced just that; "We thought you had been killed.... Jasper heard a roar of victory.... and well... we saw blood.... " She closed her eyes, not willing to return to a time when everything had been about blood and running... no... things with the Miakoda herd had changed things.

Carlisle held her close and smiled, nuzzling her mane gently after a while. "No... I'm fine, shhhh." Talking of that time was not good, their family had been torn apart and much had been lost. "Are the others ok?" A little worried that she had turned up alone, not that he had expected to see her or any of them again, it having seemed unlikely that he would wander into her path again.

She nodded, straigtening herself up as her face spoke of pride. "Yes.... Renesme is so grown up now." She chuckled, thinking that probably wasn't fair, "She has had three beautiful children....and.... I have had three beautiful children as well." A soft pink blush covered her cheeks. "Jasper is well... Jasper. He doesn't change." Stubborn male that he was.

She looked sad for a moment and then realised that things would be ok, her family would be happy that she brought him home with her rather than fixating that she went off on her own to find him. "I had a vision... but I wasn't sure if it was real. I didn't want to get everyones hopes up only to slash them." She touched him with the lower tips of her left wing, just checking he was still there. Her eyes watched the motion as she stroked him... he didn't disappear, he smelt much the same, she could hear his breath... all of her sences told her that he was here yet her mind was having trouble with it.

Carlisle watches her, glancing to where she checkd to see if he was real. Chuckling softly he leaned in and gave her a soft but sharp n** on her leg. Pinching her so that she knew he was real. Lifting his head and looking at her. "I'm really here Alice, I didn't expect to see any of you again but I'm here, we are both here and safe, as are the others." Well they were safe at least... Not here though, well not here here.... He mentally shut off that little pedantic voice in his head and tilted his head looking at her, seeming pleased. "You look well, and happy... I'm glad." It made the choices of before worth it.

Alice found words escaped her and all she could do was nod like an idiot. Things were so different now that she would even recongise the old her now.

It took her some time to compose herself and then she realised... she hadn't asked him to come with her to see the others! Excitment bubbled at what Jasper and Resneme would say and do as she chimed happily at him; "Will you come with me? To see the others? And your grandchildren?" She said with a smile and a giggle.

Carlisle felt a lot older hearing the word granchildren. Though he supposed that made sense after all he had adopted Alice and the others when he was very young so it was bound to happen. Nodding he smiled. "Yes I'd love to see them again and meet the new arrivals." He looked at Alice, having missed his family, not having realised how alone he had actually felt till now.

Excitment bubbled so swiftly in Alice's mind that didn't consider that Carlisle would have anything else he was needed to do, selfish perhaps but the excitment at him being here oveloaded everything in her mind. "They will be so happy" she beamed at him, taking a moment longer to linger on his features, on his eyes, on the soft sparke of his coat as the sun struck it. "Lets go...." she chimed before heading back towards the Miakoda herd, she looked over her shoulder to check he was still there.... a small part of her mind believing he would disappear like a puff of smoke.

Carlisle rearanged his wings, a nervous habit, even though this was his family he had been gone a long time, much had changed by the sound of it. Sighing finally he started to follow, the last of the sunlight making him sparkle. He had always done this, mostly because he wasalways makin medicines and poltices and other such things, the rocks and crystals he ground up had a tendancy to linger in his fur even after a bath. Following alice his golden tail trailing behind, glad that they had found a good safe place to be.
