Nathalia hummed happily as she walked down the street towards the grocery her father ran. It was a nice day out for San Diego, not too hot or humid. she had worn a sleeveless white top and daisy dukes, earning several appreciative stairs as she walked past from the male populace. The shop loomed ahead and she opened the door, bell jangling. "Dad?" she called.

The young redhead just entered the small grocery and first saw three armed men standing in a pool of her dad's blood. Two of the men were white with rough stubble on their chins, while the third had a dusky skin and clean shaven. Their clothing seemed to indicate that they were homeless. Two of the gunmen turned toward the door to open fire with semi-automatic pistols....

Nat froze for a moment, a silent scream on her face. Then she did the only thing she could. Nathalia ran. She sprinted out of the store and didn't stop until she came to a deserted alley. She slumped against the wall and panted. Dad...was her dad alright?!?

The white blond gunman led the other two out of the back of the store and reported in to his superiors, "This is Joshua. The sanction is complete. The target has been retired. However, a problem exists."
"What do you mean, Joshua?"
"We were spotted by the progeny. She rabbited. Please advise," Joshua inquired.
"Don't worry about it. An operative will be recruiting her. If he fails, You will be sent back for a hard aquisition."
"Copy that. Returning to base; Joshua out."

Nathalia felt a gnawing sense of unease strike her. She needed to return. She ran.
Nathalia arrived the same time to police finished up with the scene. Her heart thudded painfully at the sight of the yellow plastic tape flashing 'warning' and the cops with their guns out and loaded. One tried to stop her from getting through. She punched him. The door to the grocery was shattered. On the floor lay a body shrouded in black plastic. A pale hand was uncovered, a silver charm bracelet on its wrist. It was her mother's. Nathalia found herself on her knees a few officers tackeled her. From the ground she looked at the shrouded figure.Tears rolled down her cheeks, muddying with the asphault beneath her cheek."Daddy!?!"

"I told you I DON"T KNOW!" she shouted at the officer glaring down at her. the officer-a Mr. Berks-sighed and rubbed his mustache. "I'm sorry then Miss Carter, but you will have to stay here until something comes to mind." He left, leaving Nathalia chained to a hard metal chair. She watched him leave. The cops wanted a story she didn't have. Nat had ran from the crime scene, she had been afraid and had left her father there alone. What was she supposed to say? Admittedly punching the cop had been a bad idea, yeah, but she had been in the midst of the shock of seeing her dead father before her... Nat glared at the wall in front of her, a feeling of anger and resentment at herself settling in her stomach.

Two homicide detectives entered the room to sit down with Nathalia. The other older detective was a tall balding blond man in his forties with piercing blue eyes. The younger was olive skinned with a full head of black hair. The senior detective spoke to the griefing teen, and his partner undid Nat's handcuffs, "I'm sorry that you went through that, Miss Carter. I know that you've been through a lot, but you did deck one of our officers at the scene.
"I'm Det. Kinkaid and this is my partner, Det. Jimenez. Let's take it from the top, and tell me what you saw. Anything that you can remember will help us find the men how killed your dad."

Nathalia turned her red tear stained eyes on the Detectives. "I told your guys enough already. I walked into the store and saw them huddled around my dad. I made a noise. One turned and began to fire at me. I ran." Nat restated the same spiel she had given the cops. "And I'm sorry I decked the cop. I wasn't thinking straight." she brought her knees up on the chair and rested her chin in it.

Det. Kinkaid nodded, while taking notes at the table, "Alright, is there anything you remember about any of the men that hurt your dad? Anything that jumps out in your mind?"

Nathalia shook her head mutely. She remembered a face. But she would not tell the cops. The owner of that face would have some issues with her later. But for now she said nothing.

Kinkaid continued his line of inquiry, "Where they white, black, hispanic? Hair color? What were they wearing? We can even show you mug shots to see if you recognize anyone."

"All white, brown hair, average height, guns..." Nat rattled off like a robot. "I swear that is all I can remember." She just wanted to go home.

Det. Kinkaid nodded grimly and added, "Alright. Let's try having you go through mug shot photos. Maybe we'll get lucky."
