I think an-yeong's explanation of this is the best way of explaining it. It's a place to chat with other characters when waiting for a post during roleplay. an-yeong They are confusing because you have to pick through the huge post layouts.
Basically, it's an in character ooc thread.

CHARACTER/PERSON A ilovemusic123 has logged on.ilovemusic123: Hey, is anyone going to the school dance? I want to go but I don't have anyone to go with. );
CHARACTER/PERSON B photographer163 has logged on.photographer163: Aw, don't be sad. *pats head* We can go as a group!
CHARACTER/PERSON A ilovemusic123: Okay! But I'll talk to you later, class is starting. ilovemusic123 has logged off.
