Bellatrix was in the car, driving down the road, looking for that old Antique shop where Millicent’s friend worked. With her daughter having caught a cold, it seemed it was up to Bellatrix to deliver this oh so important envelope of training lessons to Jett. Finally she found the shop again and pulled to a stop in front of it, before getting out of the car and shivering in the cold air.
Winter had hit with a vengeance after the New Year started, and the woman was now very glad for the heavy black jacket she wore. She hurried into the store and shook herself a little, trying to gets the blood flowing and warm herself back up. Even those few seconds out in the cold had taken away all of the good the heater in her car had done.
Glancing around the shop she shook her head and sighed, wondering why her daughter seemed to like the place so much. After all, it was hardly a place one would normally find little girls. Bellatrix walked up to the counter and smiled at a young blond male sitting there. Maybe he would know where this Jett was, and if he wasn’t at work today, then perhaps he could at least pass the ever so important documents on.
“Excuse me, sir. Is there someone by the name of Jett that works here?”

Jett was immediately suspicious when the strange woman entered and asked for him; she didn't look the least bit familiar nor had he made any recent arrangements or questionable activities that would have someone looking for him.
He had the option to lie or tell the truth. He could always say Jett wasn't here today, but then that meant he might never find out what she wanted from him in the first place. He weighed the options.
Woman, older than him--still attractive. But unmarried, judging by the lack of a wedding ring. She was well dressed, polite, and had a strange envelope. If he was in trouble with someone, he was guessing he could sweet talk her. "That would be me," he finally announced, sitting up straight and lacing his fingers atop the counter. "What can I help you with?"

At first, Bellatrix let out a laugh, thinking this to be something of a joke. This was Jett? This was the ‘older man’ that her daughter had been hanging out with? This wasn’t an old man at all! She had been expecting some darling, white haired, hunched over, wrinkly man. Not a suave…college aged boy.
“You’re Jett?” Her first reaction was swiftly going away, being replaced by a heavy frown. “As In Millicent’s friend Jett?”
This…had to be some sort of mistake. Maybe she had the wrong antique store. Maybe that’s what was going on here. “I thought that Millicent’s Jett was an old man…like she told me…” When she got home tonight, she was going to have a little chat with Millie. Lying was something she should have known better than to do.

Jett suddenly looked sorely unamused. His conclusions of the situation were quickly souring. This woman was older and unmarried and knew Millicent. Which gave Jett really only one thing to conclude—this woman had to be her mother.
“…No,” Jett attempted to explain. “According to Millie, I am an old man, and she doesn’t seem inclined to believe me when I argue it. You’re her mother, right?” he prompted, shifting positions a bit. This suddenly just got awkward. He tried to play it off cool and flashed her a most warm hearted smile as he extended his hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, ma’am. Even if this is…odd circumstances. I don’t suppose you’d take solace if I told you I’ve tried to get your daughter to leave me alone, would you? Because, I really did try. And I know this probably looks,” he paused, considered his word, and then shrugged out, “bad and all, but Millicent…”
His voice trailed off a bit. “…She’s very insistent.”

“Oh don’t I know it. She’s caught a nasty cold, but..” The woman sighed and held out the folder full of papers, drawings that Millie had done on how to perform different lightsaber forms. “She said she was supposed to meet you today for more training…and all but threw a tantrum so I would deliver these lesson plans to you so you don’t get behind on your studies.”
Her daughter needed to learn to stop talking to strangers, and to listen when people told her no. That was something she had never really been able to instill in her daughter, and she had a sneaking suspicion that it was due to her father’s influence that she had become so stubborn.
“Look, I apologize if she’s bothered you. I’ll have a nice long talk to her when I get home and I’ll make sure she leaves you alone. For both of your sakes.”
Bellatrix was at least slightly unhappy with this. Millie talked of Jett often, and she hated upsetting her daughter. Though, with a situation like this, what had to be done, had to be done.

Jett’s lips pursed a bit and he lowered his hand when Bellatrix didn’t take it. “…You don’t have to apologize for Millie. Honestly, I started to look forward to whenever she would come to visit. It gets boring around here, but I’m sure you can imagine. Most of the customers we get are either high class snots or boring old collectors. Plus, she always does me the favor of taking home things that don’t sell. So…don’t go too hard on her or anything. I mean,” Jett leaned back on the stool a bit and shrugged once more.
“Don’t get me wrong, I feel like a creep and all, but Millicent’s good company. And I don’t mind her. I’d call her a friend, but I don’t really think that’s going to help my case at all.”
…Even if she was trying to get him to be some padawan and do all this dorky s**t. Jett hadn’t realized how much he’d miss Millicent if she suddenly stopped visiting, and he felt quite inclined to try and convince her mother against permanently separating the two.

The woman rasied a brow, then shook her head, giving a sigh. “You’re saying you are friends with my ten year old daughter. You realize, young man, that I’m sure I could find some way to have you arrested for this.”
But, She knew Garethon wouldn’t be pleased with it, and that alone made her almost jump at the chance to allow the friendship to continue.
“However, Millie really seems to enjoy spending time with you, so I suppose I could continue to allow it. Would you like to come over and have dinner with us sometime? I’m sure she would enjoy that very much. “
The boy didn’t seem so awful, and it might do Millicent good to have an older male who wasn’t as twisted and horrible as her father was. Yes, the whole idea just continued to get better and better in Bellatrix’s mind. “If you don’t want to, I understand, but the offer is open.”

Jett did not want to think about the prospect of going to jail and it seemed like a rather obvious choice to try and stay on Bellatrix’s good side. Garethon was—for lack of a better word—easy enough to control in regards to his friendship with Millicent. Bellatrix, however, was a different story. He wasn’t quite sure how to go about dealing with her yet, so he just flashed a smile. “No, actually, that sounds lovely. My mother’s been out of town for a few days and won’t be back for almost a week, so I’ve had the house to myself. And when it’s just me, I don’t really make that big of an effort to cook so I’m pretty much overdosing on fast food right now.”

Bellatrix wrinkled her nose. “Oh. Is it because of you that Millie has started really begging for fast food? She used to be such a good eater too.” The woman rolled her eyes, then sighed. “Well, how about the day after tomorrow, then. I’m off, and I hope by then Millie will be feeling better. I also must ask, if you two start lightsaber fighting in my house, please take it outside. I’ve already lost two lamps to her, and I don’t want to make it a third. “
Letting Millicent take fencing lessons was supposed to help her stop breaking lamps. But it seemed the plan had begun to backfire with the child wanting to practice in the house for her next lessons.
“Well, regardless of the lamps, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I’ll make sure to cook something good for dinner. A young man like yourself shouldn’t be eating fast food all the time. You’ll get fat.” She grinned then placed the packet of papers on the counter. “The day after tomorrow, don’t forget now.”

A part of Jett wanted to snicker at the fact that Millicent was picking up his habits, but he wasn’t entirely convinced it was his fault. Children that age always wanted fast food. “No lightsaber fighting, promise, even if it is the only thing to keep me in shape.” Well. Aside from the boxing and night patrols. He eyed the packet once more, with obvious uncertainty. Like it wasn’t bad enough that his own mother judged him for being influenced by Millicent, now Millicent’s mother was judging him, too.
“I appreciate it, ma’am,” he said, still upholding his charm as he flashed her another smile. “I absolutely won’t forget. Millicent is always singing praises for your meals. What’s a good time to show up?”

“How does four thirty sound. That way we’ll have enough time to talk before dinner. I know Millicent will really be excited to see you.”
Bellatrix gave a little nod, then turned as if to leave. “I’ll make sure to make something good that night. You take care of yourself now, Jett. Try and eat something healthy tonight. It will do you some good, I’m sure.”
She flashed a smile, then gave a small wave before walking out of the store and getting back into her car. That…had been interesting. At least he was polite. She supposed now she should start taking a bigger interest in her daughters friends though. At least to prevent another mix up like this one. The life of a mother was a difficult one.

Jett watched as the woman stepped out of the shop and released a breath he hadn't really been aware he'd been holding. She didn't intimidate him, nor was he afraid of her in the slightest, but the entire situation was just plain odd to begin with. And now he was going to dinner at her place?
...Yeah, all right. That was pretty weird. And what was he supposed to bring? Wine? Cookies? ...A new lamp?
He hunched forward a bit, sighing again as he peeled open the packet and started to read over Millicent's notes, shaking his head. There was an undeniable half smile planted on his face, despite it all.
