A few days after the events at the maul, Ren showed up on LW's doorstep.
This wasn't really unusual, but with the whirlwind of happenings that had been chaotically buzzing around had made it difficult for him to actually get his present for his ghoulfriend.
And now that he had it, he hadn't exactly found the time to give it to her. Which was a problem, of course, but here he was, rocking back and forth on his heels, his wings flapping up and down against his back.
Ren didn't knock - knocking was overrated, anyway.
"LW!" he called, pushing open the door. He pranced around the room, peering for the shewolf, and finally found her asleep on the floor in a pile of pillows not unlike his own; clearly she had fallen asleep unexpectedly, since her wolves were flopped all over her.
Ren squatted next to her and leaned over, nuzzling his nose playfully into LW's cheek.
"Lwwwwww," he crooned. "Wakey wakeyy~"

She hadn't slept well. Not just because of the events that had occurred at the maul. Though they were a major reason. Nope, she hadn't slept much simply because...she she had been cleaning. Cleaning a lot.
Certain minipets - who shall remain nameless (BB) - had made it look like a bomb went off in her room. So the she-wolf spent a good long while cleaning yesterday. And finished cleaning today, only to get her pile of pillows back into an orderly state just in time to fall in them and close her eyes for a few seconds....
A few of the pets curled up with her perked up at the sound of a familiar voice. Austin especially. His tail thumped but he made no effort to stop being his lady master's current pillow. Said lady master curled up more in reaction to the tail wagging and what sounded like her name. She wasn't ready to open her eyes yet! Just a few more minutes. And a couple more after those.
Cinnamon-vanilla spice. She knew that scent. And that voice. Ren. Her lips curled up as he nuzzled her cheek.
"Five...more minutes?" The she-wolf grinned up at him, twisting enough to stretch under her minipets.

Clearly LW was too tired to get up, since even with Ren poking her cheek like a little kid trying to annoy their sibling the shewolf merely grunted and rolled over, yawning.
He liked her when she was like this; sleepy and curled up like a puppy. And speaking of puppies, one of hers came bouncing over, eagerly prodding its nose into Ren's leg.
"Hello, pup," he said, and carted the creature up into his arms as he gently (yet still rather unceremoniously), pushed LW over a bit and sat down on the bed beside her, holding the puppy up in the air like a proud father. "Good mooorning!"
Then promptly flopped backwards, effectively squashing LW.
"Come on, wolflove, wake up! I have something I want to give you!"

She tried using her tail to swat at Ren, but this failed since one of her minipets was currently laying on top of it now. So the only other solution was to burrow deeper into the pile. Something that none of her pets complained about. More like they all shifted and flopped more comfortably against her. Even Austin thunked his head back down against her shoulder, though he continued to stare up at the gryphon.
LW was torn between really attempting to fall back asleep...and waking up to spend time with her boilfriend. But she was comfortable! And...five more minutes? Right?
She might have whined a little when Ren pushed her over a bit to sit down beside her. And listening to him interact with...one of her minipets (like she could currently figure out which right now) was kinda cute. However when he flopped back and she was suddenly being squished into pillows, there was an indignant squeak. A few of the luckier minipets scattered. Austin made a funny sound. And LW discovered the canines had not been the only mini's curled up with her.
"So that is where you've been hiding?!" The she-wolf growled into a pillow as a certain purple mimic was pressed firmly against stomach. She gave up on trying to find sleep again, twisting and wiggling while she tried to shove Ren off. Sort of. He was kind of warm...
Waitaminute. His words finally clicked. "You have something for me?" LW asked, turning to look at him. Then added, "It better not be another mimic! I have more than enough of those."

He supposed he could have let LW sleep a little longer; after all, circumstances being what they had been for the past several days had made it so that everyone was exhausted, confused, disoriented, and in pain for quite a while. The events both at the maul and at the school had left everything chaotically confusing, and Ren had almost not had a chance to get something for LW in the midst of the pandemonium.
However he had manged to slip back to the maul once it had reopened, picking up something that he had seen earlier (and then proceeded to do a little haggling in the process, since another ghoul had had her eye on it), and now all that was left to actually give it to her.
He lay across LW's legs obnoxiously, the puppy held on his stomach, and then pushed himself back upright so that he could peer innocently at his ghoulfriend.
"And what if it was?" he asked, totally blankly, but then a smile crept back across his face.
"I kid, it's nothing like that."
Digging around in his pocket, Ren pulled out a tiny box and handed it to her.
"Here you go, darling. Sorry it's late."

Speaking of mimics, there was a muffled 'hiss' under her stomach followed by a lick. Oh that rotten good for nothing mimic! LW was quite glad to have Ren no longer pinning her down, as it allowed her to roll off of BB. Who glared up at them both. Or mostly glared at Ren. Apparently he did not like the fact the she-wolf was getting a 'gift' from the boil. Not that he knew what a gift was. But he knew what mimic's were.
"Then I will let BB here go after your tail." LW grinned up at her boilfriend, equally as innocent as he peered at her. To emphasize this, said purple mimic growled.
While he dug around in his pocket, LW sat up, tail curling around the obnoxious minipet. Just in case. But her eyes were on Ren. Well, more specifically the tiny box he pulled out and held out to her. Curious as always, LW carefully took the box, eyes flickering up to Ren's before she opened it. And then stared at the small bell. She slid a couple fingers gently under the necklace, rubbing her thumb along the surface.
"It's....beautiful!" LW murmured, staring at the shiny little necklace. Then that huge smile, the special one she reserved for Ren alone, spread and the she-wolf threw her arms around him, stealing a kiss while she was at it.
"Thank you, kitten! It's perfect! I love it." She smiled. "And you."

Absently stroking the puppy in his lap, Ren waited for LW to open the box. It wasn't much, but it was something he had picked out specially just for her. The time he had spent looking for it had been time he had been reminded of everything he loved about LW.
Everything he would always love about her. He couldn't exactly describe how he felt about LW, not after everything they'd been through together. What had started off as a simple friendship - a fun, mischievous, silly friendship - had turned into something Ren could not have ever dreamed possible.
"It's small," he conceded, after LW had kissed him, and gently took it from her hands, shifting the wolf puppy off of his lap in the process. Leaning forward, Ren slipped the silver bell necklace around the shewolf's throat, his fingers brushing softly against her skin as he linked it in place. He sat back, admiring how it looked, and then ducked his head, kissing LW's collarbone just above where the necklace fell.
"But it's just for you, and it's something to remind you of just how much I love you."

Small he said. LW giggled softly. It may have been a small object, but the meaning behind it and the fact it was from Ren made it that much more special. And larger in the weight of all that it represented then some gaudey piece of jewellery could ever be. So of course she loved the little item! But she loved the one that had gotten it for her more.
"It's perfect." LW corrected, lips curling up in a soft smile. She tilted her head slightly out of the way as she flet fingers at the back of her neck, linking the necklace until it rested against her skin. Her fingers reached up to lightly brush against where it lay before lips kissed just above the bell. And she squeaked, hands curling against her boilfriend.
Oh skulls...maybe he didn't pay attention to the squeaking. Or the fact that he'd found a rather....sensitive (aka: major ticklish) spot.
"As I-I said." LW tried to keep her voice out of squeak levels. "It's perfect, Ren! And I'll never forget that. Ever." How could she anyways? She loved him just as much. And speaking of loving him....her fingers slid gently through his hair, toying with it while they crept higher and higher until she hit the base of an ear.
