Location: Malvren

After some poking around, you are pointed in the direction of the Storage Rooms - rooms that are often out of the way, secluded, or easy to hide in. Perhaps the assassin left some clues behind in these places. Located in the general living quarters of the weyrfolk, the storage rooms are off main hallways and contain everything from linens to oil and candles, things useful in the running of a Weyr.

The first few rooms you search are not helpful. Stocked with cleaning supplies and linens, they smell of fabric and dust but there are no items of interest. In the third room, your group startles a youthful man, a beastcrafter from his colours and knots. He knocks over a barrel of oil he'd been reaching for and laughs sheepishly, righting it before taking a new fur brush from the pile behind it, "Heh, scared me there. What can do I for you? Seems like you're looking for something."

Investigation Week 2

  • Only the NPC described in the last (third) paragraph may be interviewed.
  • This is an ORP that will be lead by Staff - staff will be posting responses based on the posts received once or twice a day, each character can post as they want but the NPC response will not wait for all to post before answering.
  • Feel free to ask whatever questions that your character would ask!
  • Remember that this is an investigation about the Mystery Man who assassinated two ranking Riders and tried to kill a third.
  • A Hint: Look for relations between rumors and things said but remember not everyone knows the truth! Think about the answers you receive!

Orlina smiled at the man and nodded politely. Though she hadn't been the one to startle the man, she was small enough to fit in the gap between that person and the other side of the doorway. "Hello. I'm Orlina and these are my groupmates. We're one of the investigation teams being sent around to look for information on the murderer and talk to folk."

She waited until the man had introduced himself. There. Suddenly, everything felt much more friendly. Hopefully, this would go a little better than the interview with Anna. "Since you seem to know your way around the storerooms, have you come across any items that might be tied to the murderer? Any signs of him maybe getting in down here somewhere?"

Mine! Bolth screeched with a startled shriek as the boy dumped the barrel over the growing blue doing all he could to bury himself into his riders shirt. He'd risen to his hind legs and had buried his big steely blue head into C'cri's tunic.

"Shhhh It's ok sweetheart. Shhhhh." C'rci soothed her dragon stroking his head and scratching his eyeridges as best she could hugging him close to her till the startled blue stopped shaking. Glancing over at Orlina she gave the other girl an apologetic smile and mouthed the word sorry before turning back with a loving look to her dragon.

Mine is ok? Are you ok Mine? C'Mine? Bolth asked his scared and worried thoughts slowly breaking down as his riders love and protection washed over him.

I'm here. Everything is all right Bolth. Now would you take your claws from my side? C'rci asked very carefully unhooking her blue's claws from her side and settling him down on the floor where he leaned into her legs.

"Sorry I startled you. I'm C'rci. This is Bolth." She replied stroking the steely blue's head with a low whirling purr that seemed to sooth the startled Weyrling's nerves. Enough so that with gleaming yellow and slowly shifting blue green eyes the dragon in question peaked around his riders legs to chirrup a greeting at the boy.

Hello. I'm Bolth. I apologize for startling you. I have never been down to this place before, but I did not want to leave Mine to go alone. Bolth spoke to the boy his thoughts friendly and warm now that he was beginning to calm down.

Wykla mused quietly to herself as the group had headed down to the Storage Rooms. Some thought that the assassin might have hid down here and left clues. She wasn’t so sure about that. The Storage Rooms were visited quite a lot. How could they be sure anything they found was actually connected with the assassin and not some poor candidate? If nothing else, it didn’t hurt to look; thus the aloft bluerider trailed after her group.

The young teen tilted her head at the beastcrafter. “Why should we scare you unless you’re trying to hide something down here? Is that really oil in your barrel?” She narrowed her eyes, until Boreal cheeped in her ear. Oh, alright. “You down here a lot? Seen anything out of place or heard people talking about stuff? Specific stuff on like the assassin or anything related to him. What about rumors of holdless?” Wykla cut straight to the chase.

Krishin jumped yet further as Bolth shrieked and tried to climb onto his rider. He eyed the little beast, but a good-natured smile lit his face. As the rider tried to get a hold of her dragon, he turned his attention back to the small, dark girl who had spoken first.

"Nice to meet you, Orlina. I'm Krishin," the man introduced, smiling at her and the Weyrling Bluerider. His voice was clear and friendly and it was obvious that he was a well-spoken young man. Suddenly, there was a voice in his head and he jumped, looking in surprise at the Blue. He tucked the brush away as he smiled at the Blue and his partner. "No harm done, C'rci and Blue Bolth. You'll be too big someday to fit in here with her, so it's probably best you spend as much time with her as you can now. As far as the investigation goes--"

He stopped at Wykla's sudden accusation and then shrugged at the younger girl. "You came upon a man in the quiet underground tunnels and then suddenly made a noise. Of course I was spooked. Humans can spook as easily as runners, too, you know, Bluerider. If you already know it's an oil barrel, then what else did you think would be in it?"

Her sudden stream of questions amused a chuckle out of him. "You don't waste any time, do you? To start with, no, I haven't seen any items that might belong to the murderer, Orlina. And no secret tunnels that could let anyone in either, as far as I know. You might do better to ask a wherhandler or one of the old dragonriders. They seem to learn secrets of the weyr through experience, they might know better than me if someone could get in down here."

"And I'm down here more often than not when I need something for the beasts, but not more than that. I've heard plenty of rumors about the murderer and where he might have come from or why he did it. A wise man keeps his ears open, after all. Most people have an opinion and some even have proof to back it up with, though I haven't heard anything about the Holdless, no." He looked thoughtful. "Did you have something more specific than 'stuff on the assassin' that you were looking for? I'd be happy to help in any way I can. If you're just looking for my outtake on things, I would be happy to give you my personal opinion, but if it's something more I'll do my best with that, too. Whatever you need for the investigation."

"Your opinions and information would be more than welcome sir," Kleos said as she stepped into the room and gave a short bow. "Perhaps you could start by telling us of anything out of the ordinary you saw or heard on the day of the murder? As I am sure you realise even the smallest piece of information could complete the puzzle when combined with others." On her shoulder, Ice cheeped his agreement but then he cheeped agreement with just about everything he heard her say so this was hardly a surprise.

Orlina turned quickly as Kleos's voice suddenly joined the small group's. It was a shame more investigators didn't take their jobs more seriously. It would have been good to have more minds on this. She waited to hear Krishin's response to the Crimsonrider before she added another question of her own.

"Why do you think he did it?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 19, 2012 3:56 am

Krishin scratched his chin, looking thoughtful at Kleos's request. "Y'know, I saw this stranger the day H'trel died. Dressed all dark, too… but he walked with a rolling swagger. Odd. Not that it couldn't have been a rider, but if it was, it was no rider I'd ever seen before, which would still make him a stranger to the weyr."

He glanced over at Orlina. "Why? If you ask me, killing off H'trel just kicked the buzzing nest. But, really, killing Eirlyn incapacitates us. She's a great leader." He looked sad for a moment and then shook his head and got down off the small foot ladder he'd been balancing on.

"I hope you investigators find out something new about the murderer and why all this is happening. Good luck."
