Fin'lay glided with gentle footsteps through the pride tunnels, making sure everyone was okay and still in bed as it was still daylight out. Though, not for much longer. The sun was beginning it's descent as the moon was trying to stake it's claim in the sky. It was unusal for her to be up and about at this time but she was intent on checking on the new member to see how he was adjusting to this new way of living. Fin'lay knew sleeping during the day and doing all normal activities during the night was an adjustment for all new comers so she wondered how he was fairing. As she neared the den in which was his she wondered for a moment if he was even in there. It was possible that he had woken up much earlier than this and was getting ready to end his day. Or maybe he was trying to scavage up some food. Hmmm... she thought to herself. Shaking her head she took the last few steps that allowed her entry to his den. Fin'lay didn't dare step in but lightly hit her paw against the cave wall to get his attention. "Hello there new comer." She said simply, but with a slight grin.
Kumo was new to this pride, he hadn't yet learned the working but was begginig to get the basics with the help of Nyota and Sarraqa. They were the only family he had left.
He heard the foot steps of a lion approach, he was always a light sleeper one of his skills from training as a fighter was he was used to long shifts and little sleep.
The sound had a light echo around him, "Hello your majesty" He felt a little rediculous saying that but he wasnt sure what to call her. "My name is Kumonryu, Kumo for short. Its a pleasure to meet you." He said giving her a slight girn keeping his stoic composure.
Fin'lay was quite surprised at the new male who seemed to be so.... refined. It was certianly something she hadn't seen to often from rogue males. Whether them coming from a pride previously or not. "You may call me Sgiach." She said with a friendly tone. Not all of the pride members called her sgiach and she honestly didn't really want them to. She had a name and they should use it. But, to newcomers it was best to test them out before revealing everything. Although, this male seemed to very trustworthy. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well Kumonryu." She replied. "So Kumo, tell me how you are settiling in." Fin'lay said, looking around at his den, still smiling. "Are you getting used to the sleep schedule here?" She asked, her eyes now returning to rest on the male.
"As you wish Sgiach." He was pleased to see he hadnt ofended her, in his old pride there was a King Cheetah so this was a new spin he had to get used to. The King wasnt bad but sometimes acted a bit childish.
"I'm doing quite good, I was a fighter/guard in my old pride so i was used to long hours and little sleep." Also he wanted to impress the queen of the pride, he was still new and there was room for impressions he had to set an example.
"Sara and Nyota are helping me adjust." He smiled awkwardly, he wasnt used to smiling he was used to his stoic expression but it was a time for change. "Isn't a littler early to be up?" He couldnt be sure as his internal clock was still adjusting to the night but he hadnt heard anyone else stir about she it was an assumption.
When the young male Kumo responded she sat down and laid her tail neatly by her body. "You were? Well. You may prove to be a great warrior here as well. If that is what you wish to be." Fin'lay replied, now eager to see what he would grow up to become. She always found herself looking at the young cubs and wondering exactly who they would be when it was time for them to make their stand in the pride. Some she could see as clear as night. Others it was a bit more difficult to decipher. Kumo was a bit of a inbetween. She could picture him, standing on the border of their lands keeping watch but she could also imagine him in many other positions. She would need to watch him to see what he did become.
"That is good. I'm glad that you have family here to help support you in this new life." Fin'lay lightly smiled. "It can be very difficult adjusting to our customs. But once you get used to it, it seems like there was never any other way." Fin'lay added. When the young male began to ask why she was up she lightly laughed. "I'm a bit of a early riser at times, but today I came to check on you. I wanted to see how you were settiling in." She paused. "I figured the daytime was the best time to see you."
Kumo remained a safe distance away he thought it be best to avoid ofending her, she was quite kind. Not even in his old pride had the king shown himself, he onlt met him once as a cub. Here it hasnt been long and she was here to introduce herself.
"I may, It would be an honor to protect you and your pride." He said tipping his head in a bowing manner. He has yet to learn all the ranks in the pride so it wouldnt do much good deciding now if there were better ranks out there.
"Thank you, there the only family i have left." His voice cracked a bit showing a bit of weakness but just as quickly disappeared. His heart was still sore from the rejection and loss of his family. "Thank you, it was very kind of you to check on me." He smiled, please to see someone of such high rank still care about her followers.
Fin'lay watched the male with curious eyes. When he responded to her question she smiled. "We shall have to see." She said simply, not wanting to make him feel like he had to choose one position or another. Unlike her counterparts, Fin'lay just wanted everyone to be happy and be who they were supposed to be. If they only did what she wanted them to do then the pride would surely fail. When she noticed Kumo's features changed for a brief moment to that of sadness she frowned a bit. She stood and with quick strides entered his den, and arriving at his side. Her tail interlaced with his and her head rubbed at his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. "Kumonryu--Kumo, you do not need to be sad for what is lost. We're your family now." She said with a smile, now looking at him. "You're welcome." She replied, returning to rubbing his shoulder with her head. "Do you feel better?"
Kumo was utterly shocked at the females actions, he had never expierence such caring, not even from his mother Nyota hawever she was more of a mother ot her children perhaps thats why Kumo spent more time with Nyotas family then he didnt with his own.
"Th~thank you..." He didnt know weather to move or stay in place, he never really expierence love from anyone other then who he considered family. He only flirted with some other but never was able to stick around love enough to explore those feelings. But she was the queen, was this common in the pride.
"Yes...i do feel better?" He stated more as a question still unsure of what he sould do. "Would you like me to patrol the land before many others wake?" He tried to focus on something besides what was going on, he wanted to show her he wasnt weak.
As she sat there rubbing her head against his shoulder she was completely unaware of his awkwardness towards it. "You're welcome." She said, now pulling away. Her tail was still interlocked with his. She smiled. "No little one. You should try and rest up a bit. Maybe after a short nap you will feel better." Fin'lay said, now standing. Her tail inched away from his and once it was released she walked to his den enterance. "If you would like, you can come with me." Fin'lay said with a straight face, now turning to look at him. "The choice is you'rs." A small shrug gave way to her being okay with either option. She then turned her body and walked out of his den, heading towards the surface.
Nap? Kumo laughed a little, he's never taken naps. It was always about work with him and he remembered following in his fathers footsteps literally doing everything possible and still somehow it wasnt good enough. Somehow though he felt the slightest connection with the queen, he had a slight smile on his maw. It was a good feeling one he hasnt really had time to expierence.
As soon as he felt the release his heart felt a tug. "Uh-yes.. i wouldvery much like to accompany you." He said standing on his paws and quickly following. He was both eager to learn about the pride first hand but it was also an opportunity to explore these unual feelings. Whatever it was he hoped he would find out soon.
