It was the depths of winter, the day after a heavy snow and a bitterly cold morning. A perfect day, Warmth-in-Snow had thought, for a walk. He'd wiggled down from the old oak tree he lived in and stepped out into the snow, one careful pawprint at a time trailing after him. Just a quick trot around the territory, he'd through. I'll be back in under an hour. It was now almost noon, and Warmth was seated on an old tree stump he could swear he'd never seen before today. Of course, now the entire area was criss-crossed with his tracks. He sniffed the air (just the sharp scent of cold) and fluffed up his fur. "Maybe I should just wait until spring," he murmured.

Baroque Baroque skipped through the crisp, cold snow into a clearing, her breath blowing around her head like a vail of mist. Ah, it had been moments ago that she had woken up and spazzed out of her den, warming up her muscles with a sprint to the funny looking thing over there. No, not that one, the one next to it. The blue thing. Yes, that one. She skidded to a halt, snow pilot around her tiny feet (hooves? Paws? O.o). There was another Leawyn in the clearing, right next to the thing that was next to the blue thing. I think. She plopped down in the snow, a shiver rippling up her spine. "Wat are you doing here?" she yelled in a curious, friendly tone. Her breath curling around the orange leaf on her head.

One thing Warmth hadn't expected was a fellow fox to come barreling out of nowhere.
He leaped entirely off the stump with a screech. His four-footed landing created a small impact crater in the snow. He paused for a moment, then leaned over to peer at the stranger with ears timidly flattened against his head.
"I'm...going for a walk?" There was no way he wandered far enough to exit his territory completely, right? This fox seemed friendly enough...

Baroque Baroque blinked at the fox, then smiled again. She let her gaze rest on the ground, where may tracks all the same size were left in crisscrossing patterns. "sounds like fun! I wanna come too!" she said and scampered up to the pinkish lewyn, sniffing him. "I'm baroque, wats your name?" she said cheerily. She shivered a bit, shaking the snow from her fluorescent colored tail.

Whoa! Warmth leaned back for a moment when she scampered over, then sniffed her in return. Yep, this fox was sure friendly, all right. "I'm Warmth-in-Snow. It's nice to meet you, Baroque!" He gave a little bow. Just because one's out in the middle of the woods doesn't mean one can't be polite, after all.
"Of course you can come! I'm, ah..." he glanced around, tail flicking nervously. Oh, right, still lost. "Well, where do you want to go?"

Baroque Baroque smiled at Warmth in snow. "Nice to meecha!" she sat down again, looking up into the sky. "Lately I've been cloud watching, so I wanna go up. But I tried that, and it diddnt work, I would keep falling out of trees, so I guess were stuck on the ground. How do the birdies do it? It looks so easy." she babbled, watching as the fluffy clouds rolled lazily across the light-blue winter sky.

"I don't know." He looked up, then flopped down in the snow on his back and stared up at the sky. He was perfectly fine with not going anywhere - after all, if you don't know where to go, then it doesn't matter what direction you head in.
"I often think about that myself." Mostly due to a certain bird that sometimes flies up into his tree and refuses to let him inside. Goddess, sometimes he hates that bird. "Maybe it has something to do with their feathers. I can't think of anything that has feathers and can't fly. Can you?" He glanced at the yellow-and-purple fox.

Baroque Baroque saf next to Warmth, thinking hard. She then got up and shook the snow from her tail, then chased it around until she caught the tip of it in her mouth. "I ink I ave eathers" she said through her tail, looking at it with her purple eyes. She spat out her tail, and flopped by Warmth, looking up at the sky. "The clouds look so fluffy, I just wanna grab one and eat it!" she said, pawing at the sky and watching the clouds drift by.

"No, but-" Feathers? What did she mean by that? Clouds? Geez, her thoughts went at a million miles an hour, didn't they? "Yeah, I guess they'd be fluffy...they'd be cold, though." Warmth rolled onto his belly and stared at Baroque as she twirled around. "I'd want to eat them in summer when they'd be warm from the sun. Or...at least, if they're cold all the time, then it can be good for a hot summer day..." This was a weird conversation. "So, uh...is this your territory?"

Baroque Baroque pawed at the sky some more, licking her lips. "They look all...whispy today. Like the cottonseeds that fly around in the fall! They aren't yummy though." she rolled back over onto her belly, looking at Warmth. "Territory? Territory....territory...oh! Territory! Yea! Right over this way! I came to look at the blue thing, but you were here, so I got distracted." she babbled, he purple eyes sparkling. She bounded in the direction that she came from...or so she thought.

"Blue thing? W-wait, wait up!" Warmth scrambled to his feet and took off after Baroque. With such confidence in her step she must surely know where she's going, Warmth thought.
He closed in on her tail, leaping in long bounds over the snow. His shadow was crisp and clear against the ground as though the cold had frozen it solid. "You live close? I guess we must be neighbors then! I live in the old burned oak," he gasped out while running. If he'd managed to wander near his borders that would have been very silly of him. There was no way he actually left his area, of course. No possible way. Nope.

Baroque Baroque sped ahead, following the tracks that she made earlier. It took her a couple of tries -ermsevenerherm- to find her little hole, but by the time the sun was higher I the sky, she found it, right next to the gnarled brown stump and the frozen over pond. "Here, I live here." she said triumphantly, a little out of breath. She stuck her nose into her den, warming it up. "Neighbors? What? Oh yea! Neighbors! Yea, yea!" she said, sweeping her tail by the entrance of the hole, clearing it of snow.

"This is a nice place," Warmth said as he sat down and stretched his legs. "Can't say I've ever been here before, though. That pond looks lovely!" He hadn't noticed the occasional mixups on his guide's end - of course she'd lead them back safely to her home. He leaned forward to crouch by the entrance to the den and lean in to peer into the darkness. "What a lovely place! Did you make it yourself?"
He had no idea what it looked like. His eye hadn't adjusted to the contrast in light. But, you know, it was the nice thing to do.

(too lazy to find font color) Baroque smiled, soaking in the compliment. "Thank you!" she said, then sat to try and remember if she had found it or made it...She couldn't remember getting dirty enough to wash off in the pond, so she couldn't have made it. Maybe another Leawyn showed her...yea, that was it. "Another Leawyn showed me." she said happily. Inside the hole, there was moss covering the walls. It was big enough to fit a couple foxes in it. It was sheltered from the elements, and close to the little pond. She was very fond of it, and took good care in making it pretty, little Daisha sprouting by the top of the hole. She remembered what he said earlier, and smiled. "Dead tree! I know where that is!" she said and was off again, winding through different landmarks, comming to a charred Willow tree overlooking a stream. "Here it is!" she said, taking a drink from the stream. (she doesnt know where his home is...)

((That's a-okay! He'll follow her around for quite a while before figuring it out, so feel free to lead him around for as long or as little as you like :3 ))
"Oh, that was nice of them." Warmth leaned in for a better look at the cave.. He gently prodded the moss. Hmm, comfortable. Maybe he should try to grow some in his own den. "Do they still live around - " He turned just in time to catch a glimpse of Baroque's tail vanishing behind a bush. "Hey, wait up," he cried as he scrambled to his feet and gave chase.
Still, there was confidence in his mind and pep in his step now that he was sure she was leading him back home - until they reached their destination. "Uh," he said. He stared at the willow, then at Baroque drinking, then back at the willow. This...certainly wasn't his tree.
Oh, well, maybe she was just confused. "There seems to have been a mixup," Warmth said as he trotted over to the stream himself. "I live in the big oak tree. Is it far from here?" He took a quick sip. Now they'd be on their proper way, surely.
