There were a few good things that came of doing the end of the year cleanup in the coffee shop. The first was that Harmony was guaranteed New Year’s Eve off. The second was the abundance of all the things they had to use or get rid of before the New Year. This meant a horde of baked treat mixes that got tucked away and forgotten when things got rearranged or specialty syrups that need to be used or thrown away. What this meant for Harm was a lot of food and beverages that had a small chance of being sold.

It took some wheedling but Harm finally convinced her boss to keep the coffee shop open past hours for a party if she made the goodies and helped sell as many as she could before the party started at nine. She also promised to clean up any and all messes from said party and would watch the place like a hawk so that no shenanigans happened out of control. The leftover food and drinks could be snacks. With her beverage knowledge she could throw plenty together in time!

She sat on the phone to find a DJ friend from school and sent out flyers via her email encouraging her friends to come and bring their friends. It was a party to dress up for so she spent a lot of time picking out the right outfit. She also made a big sign for the front window advertising the party to everyone that passed by. As the day ticked by she sold her little heart out but she was right, they had tons more left over that they’d have to throw away before. Now it could be put to a good use: her popularity.

Harm changed in the bathroom, tucking her work clothes away in the back and waited for people to start arriving. The DJ set up and they lowered the lights a little and cleared away tables for a dance floor. It would be a decent space for this provided it didn’t get too crowded. Last but not least she locked the door to the back room to protect everything. She leaned against the counter looking out the window, playing the nervous hostess.

Arian had kind of hoped to return to Esspresso Yourself before now – he had after all promised Harmony he'd let her have some photos of some his jewellery pieces. Things had kind of happened forever in between then and after the whole turning into a cat fiasco around Thanksgiving hadn't helped. Saffy hadn't been happy when he'd returned two days after Thanksgiving – in fact she'd told him she was grounding him for life.

Spending Christmas break at his uncle's place seemed to have mellow his cousin out somewhat and when they'd returned back home four days back Saffy had told him that she'd decided to rescind his grounding.

Arian had noticed the poster in the window of the coffee shop about a day ago and thought it a good opportunity to maybe see Harmony again with pictures in tow this time round. For the party's sake he'd dug out a smart shirt and paired it with dark jeans. He'd even bought a pair of those 'new year's' type glasses ready for 2012 and had forgone his beloved glasses for contacts. Pushing open the coffee shop door he slipped inside, photos in an envelope tucked under one arm, the 2012 glasses dangling from the fingers. It wasn't hard to spot the mint-haired girl and Arian gave her a friendly smile. Evening Harmony, he remembered from last time that she hadn't liked being called Miss.

Alexandre had heard, from Harmony herself, about the party and had informed her, via text, that of course he'd show up. So no surprise, for Harmony at least, when he turned up as the bell on the door overhead chimed as it announced his arrival.

Blond hair neatly tied back with a black ribbon, his clothing as presentable as ever, his coat and scarf came off, as he sought a chair to lay them on. The dove gray sweater he wore was made of cashmere, soft and turtle neck, his black jeans were tailored to fit but not too tightly. Sitting on the table top was what he'd brought for Harmony and the party; two tins of tea blends he'd made. His gloves were off next, and settled on top of his scarf, which was folded on top of his coat. Picking up the tin he headed toward where he hoped to find her, in the process he spotted a familiar class mate.

"Arian...." A small nod of his blond head. "Nice to see you."

Kathryn had been pacing past the door of the coffee shop for the past few minutes. She had seen the sign on one of her errands and thought it would be an interesting way to kick off the new year. She'd been cooped up in her place since waking up one morning to find that she was once again human. The atmosphere in her place was one of easiness between herself and Tallulah but Kat needed to get out tonight. Her parents had invited their only daughter home to usher in the new year but Kat had declined. It wasn't that the idea didn't sound appealing - she just wanted a little time to herself this evening. There had been a moment back at the apartment when she wondered just what she was doing. But she had just scribbled a note for Tallulah about her whereabouts for the evening before digging through her closet for something to wear.

The poster had mentioned dancing and Kat wasn't too keen on the activity but she thought that she would dress up a little more than usual for the occasion. Maybe jeans were too casual but it was what she felt comfortable in. She gave herself a shrug before placing her hand on the handle of the door. Tugging open the door she stopped on the threshold before letting her eyes adjust to the dim lighting. Apparently she was early. Only three other people were milling about. Kathryn clutched her bag to her side tightly and walked on in. Hopefully this wouldn't be a disaster waiting to occur. She nodded politely to the others as she dumped her stuff into a booth.

Harmony saw Arian come in and smiled, thinking he'd forgotten about her after all these weeks without any phone calls or visits. She was happy that people were starting to show up and had some hope that the night would be a success. It was her first attempt to use the coffee house in this way and if it wasn't successful her boss likely wouldn't let her try it again. He just cared about getting their shop out there for the people to know about and return to.

"Hey!" she called out to him, coming over to greet him personally. It was still early so people were merely trickling in to mingle as the DJ started playing music. "How've you been?"

Then Alex came in and both of their attentions were pulled away by him. She hugged her friend and kissed his cheek, happy that he managed to show up after all. She often wondered why he was always alone and never with a boy. It seemed like he should have a boyfriend by now, someone to really take care of him as he deserved. She frowned thinking of him being alone when she cared for him so much.

"You came!" she cried out happily at him, knowing he was much too cool to be so excited about a little party like this but Harm didn't mind. She'd be excited for the both of them.

Then Harm's eyes roamed to Kathryn and she went over, liking that a fellow girl came. "Hi! I'm Harmony."

Returning the hug, and kissing both of Harmony's cheeks, Alexandre pulled away from the green haired girl long enough to offer up both tins of tea. "Pomegranate black tea and hibiscus tea." He said, by way of explaining what he had in the two tins. "I thought you may like them, and other people."

Of course he came alone, single as ever, it wasn't that he wanted to be but rather he was fairly indifferent to the idea of being in a relationship. It was, like for most people, a want to be involved with someone but not a need or something he would rush in to. Perhaps he would put even more thought in to it than most people, for reasons only a few knew.

"I thought to try my hand at baking but the last time it turned into a mess." Flour and sugar everywhere with him and Lily in the middle of it all, not something he wished to repeat.

Kathryn had managed to extricate the small amount of money she'd brought along with her from her wallet. The plan was to watch how much she spent tonight. It would do her no good to blow a lot of money that she'd need later in the year. Kat had just managed to turn back around to observe the store's occupants before noticing a girl with mint-green hair walk up to her. Kat didn't recognize Harmony but she gave the other girl a smile and held out her left hand. If the other girl wanted to shake it that was fine. If not ... oh well.

"It's nice to meet you. I'm Kathryn."

Kat took a quiet minute to herself for a minute to let her thoughts wander before bringing them back into focus. Time to break the ice a little. "I don't think I know anyone here. It's my first time here in this establishment." Kat gave Harmony a quick smile.

“I've been fine” Arian told Harmony. “My cousin and I spent Christmas at my Uncle's place.” He'd ended up being introduced to quite a few people, not all of whose names he remembered and there had been food – lots of it, much different to the simple turkey, brussels and trimmings followed by Christmas pudding that his grandparents had favoured. “How about you did you have a nice Christmas?”

He remembered the envelope adding “I remembered the pictures this time round though but I wasn't sure what you would like to see so it's mostly earrings. I put a couple of pictures of sets though.” Like the coffee-themed bracelet and pendant he'd made out of a mixture of fimo and silver wire for his friend Gigi – a belated Christmas present as he'd not had a chance to see his friend before leaving for his Uncle's place.

Alexandre was also given a friendly smile, Arian recognising the blond from some of his classes at school. “It's nice seeing you too Alexandre, I hope you had a nice Christmas.”

After greeting Harmony and Alexandre, he looked curiously at the coffee shop. It looked like someone had gone to a lot of trouble to make the shop look nice and party-like. On looking back in Harmony's direction the dark-haired teen noticed that a newcomer had arrived while he was looking around the coffee shop. The new arrival currently talking to the mint-haired teen.

Bella had seen the sign for the 'party' on her way back to the school after running some errands and had decided it would be kinda fun. After stopping by her school to get changed into something other than her school uniform which she had been wearing she headed back into town to go to the coffee shop in her Lolita like outfit. Entering she noticed there wasnt many people as of yet but that didn't bother her that much. She did quite enjoy the music that the DJ had playing and the look of the place was quite nice as well. Just her kind of place in her opinion. She went over to one of the empty booths and set down her clutch in the empty booth before sitting down and watching the other four or so people in the room. While the flyer had mentioned dancing she figured she would wait until there was a few more people so she could dance alone without drawing as much attention to herself.

She squealed over the pictures, passing them to Alex to admire, knowing he'd like them, too. She was a very big fan of Arian's work by now, cycling through the pictures. She'd have to talk to him sometime about that. She made all the proper compliments, truly impressed by his work. The two boys seemed to know eachother. But then she moved on to other people coming in.

Harm happily greeted Kathryn and then looked to Bella coming in the door. She was happy they'd arrived, a few others mingling in the crowd. The music was playing and the snacks were set out everywhere and the tables set out of the way for people to sit at later. She smiled and mingled a while, letting people disperse away from the door.

"Hi!" she called to Bella, waving. Ever the friendly host she introduced herself and then introduced the room.
