THE HUNGER GAMES
The ruins of North America have been split into twelve districts. The thirteenth having fallen into destruction, nothing is left of it.Every year in the ruins of North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Or untill no one stands at all. How will you fight?

Username: My name is: Analee monroe I live in: District 10 I am 17 years old My family consists of My older brothers Jack and evin This is how my life has been My older brothers and I have all managed to avoid our names being called. But that doesn't mean if it is ever called we won't be prepared. Every day my brothers and I train ourselves as best we can to survive on our own seeing as how both of our parents were victims of the game. Watching our parents die has put a giant strain on the family, but it has also made us closer. District 12 is nothing but poverty but we have managed to get this far. Being the youngest my brothers are very protective, but I could tie up with them both in a good fight. Don't under estimate me. And this is me:
Username: Miss Emni Rose My name is: Wren Winston I live in: District Eleven: Agriculture I am (15) years old My family coniststs of my grandfather, my little brother Mikael, and my little sister Mika This is how my life has been....My mother died giving birth to my little brother and sister, who are twins, and my father killed himself a few years later out of grief. At that time, we moved in with grandfather, who isn't quite right in the head, if you know what I mean. My siblings are too young to be chosen, but I don't know what I'll do if I get picked. I'm good at making resources stretch, and I find people's secrets and use them against them, and that's the only reason we haven't starved yet. If I were to go fight, that would all change. I won't pretend that I would even have a chance of winning. District Eleven is poor, really poor, and the most ironic thing is that while we're surrounded by all this food, we starve from lack of resources. District Eleven is also extremely beautiful, especially in spring when everything blooms. It inspires me to write poetry, which I carve into the bark of trees, and trace into the dirt. And this is me:
Username: xx_Mickey-chik_xx My name is: Shayna Boiler I live in: District 12 I am: 17 years old My family coniststs of: My brother Joel and father Scott. This is how my life has been: My mother died when I was ten of a brain cancer. We have no real doctors, and people told us to let her be as comfortable as possible. Yeah. Like that was possible. Me and my brother spent most of our childhood raising ourselves. My father took us out when we were old enough and left us in the forest. He told his if we could find our way home we were his children, and if not, to not even bother comming back. He wanted us to be strong and independent, which we were. When I turned 16 and Joel turned 18, we stared building his house with the money we had saved up. His girlfriend was moving in with him because she didn't like having to stay with me and our father. My birthday's comming up soon and I hope I'm alive to see it. Because it's a week after the drawing for the Hunger Games. And this is me:
Username: T_trees_T My name is: Serpentine Artuga I live in: District Two I am fifteen years old. My family coniststs of five members; my mother and father, my two siblings and myself. I have an older brother of eighteen, Audacity, and a younger brother of ten, Valiance. This is how my life has been: As a child of the first two districts, I have trained all my life for the Hunger Games; as have my other two brothers. I am sometimes jealous of them, named as they are, words of courage and heroism, whereas my name means something treacherous and deceiving. I can't help if my parents don't nearly like female children as much as male. They were aghast when I popped out and I wasn't a boy.
But I suppose the name fits. I am not as strong or obnoxious as my older brother, Audacity, but I have the gift of wit and agility. I am quick, with lightning reflexes, like the snake whom I was named after. My chosen weapon, throwing knives and a dagger for close combat, equal my speed.
My two brothers and I have been thirsting to participate in the Hunger Games. We can only hope that this time around, our wishes will be granted. And this is me:

Username: xXAuraAuroaeXx My name is: Daniel Leonhart I live in: District Eleven I am (16) years old My family coniststs of My three little sisters, My brother and me This is how my life has been My father died in the mines and my mother got very sick and the sickness killed her. Me and my family have been scrounging for food and our Aunt tried to take us in but she is abusive and we refused to. So now we live wherever we can. I'm the second oldest in this family to my brother, so I help him take care of my three sisters. And this is me:
Username: ichibi1 My name is: Astrayl Heartness I live in: district 2 I am 18 years old My family coniststs of my father Harvest and my mother Marry This is how my life has been: Everyday has been non-stop training to be apart of the hunger games. In the morning I do push-ups with rock weights. In the afternoon I do training with weapons and in the even I fight for my food. My daily life started this way sense I could walk. I had two older brother and both went off into the hunger games only to die within a few days. My parents, who are both victors, now see me as their last chance to make something great. The only problem is, I don't care for the hunger games. If I enter of course I plan to try and survive but if I don't I won't cry about it. My parents see my attitude and try their best to beat it out of me. I have so much to live up to the only issue is that don't care for any of it. I practice everyday only to prefer a spear and helmet. And this is me:

STARTING OFF Every one is starting off in their respected districts. It is two days before the drawing of names for tributes to go into the hunger games. Start off by saying where you are, what you are doing, and what your current mind set of the hunger games is. Are you one of the few who were trained and are ready to volunteer? Or are you hoping that you get another year or so with your family, and your life?

Then she settled herself down on a limb, and started picking apples and placing them into the basket she had brought with her. Although she seemed to be entirely focused on her task, Wren's thoughts were actually miles away. She was thinking about the year's upcoming Hunger Games. 'Not so much game as slaughter fest. Twenty-four will go, and only one will return alive. Riches and glory, being heralded a hero for killing other humans. How is that entertaining?' Wren asked herself, absolutely disgusted. She was fifteen, and that meant that she had seen fifteen different Games come and go. Seen three hundred and forty-five diferent people die. Of course, she didn't remember all of them, not the ones from when she was very little, but she remembered enough, more than enough. Wren pulled more apples from their places, and her thoughts turned who would be chosen for Deistrict Eleven's two Tributes. Wren herself was the only one in her family eligible. Her grandfather was far too old, and her little brother and sister were only six years old, too young to be chosen. But she, at age fifteen, was still eligible for the Games. When she was younger, Mikael and Mika's age, she used to dream of getting chosen, and winning. She didn't pay attention to the details, she just skipped to the part where she got there prizes. She was so naive back then. Now she knew just how terrible it was, and how important it was that did not get picked. She was the only one who could really work, who could cook and make sure that they didn't run out of food. Without her, the little ones and her grandfather would probably starve. Sure, the neighbors would try and help, but District Eleven was so poor that they wouldn't be able to do much. And so the only choice was not to be picked, which was unfortunate as she didn't have any choice in the matter. ⑪✿⑪✿⑪ As Wren walked home, her back aching from the day's hard work, she started to think about what would happen if she did get chosen. "I'd probably be one of the pathetic ones who die after the first day." she murmured to herself wryly. "I mean, let's face it, I'm no fighter. If it was simply a matter of not starving to death, I'd have things covered, but when you add in the whole 'Kill or be killed' factor, it's obvious that I'll fall under the 'Be killed' part of the equation." She stopped to stretch, feeling all her joints pop and creak like an old woman's. "But I can't let that happen, because then there'll be no one to take care of Mikael and Mika, so I've got to make a plan." In her head Wren started taking inventory of all the money they had, how much food that would buy, and how it would last. Then she started thinking about everything they owned, what she could sell, and how much she she could sell it for. Then she took that money and converted it into more food. Finally, she started thinking about everything she knew about everyone she knew in District Eleven, and what she could get out of them for keeping their secrets. The resulting amount of resources was hardly enough to last two weeks without her work pay. ⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿{OurOctoberCalendar: Sorry if this is a bit long, my introduction posts tend to be a little overdone. Shayna Watching her brother sleep was an intresting sight.. Shayna laughed to herself and pulled her boots onto her cold feet. Her blanket wasn't much more than a potato sack on a pile of clothes. Breakfast wasn't going to buy itself so Shayna grabbed her pouch of earned money, her hunters knife for protection, her deep green wool jacket, and headed to the fish shop. It seemed like you had to pay everything you had to live. As she walked, she could smell the fresh bread and fancier food in the bakery windows. She could barely afford to dream about the food, but that didn't bug her. Food like that would make you weak. Shayna could eat sticks if it came down to it, and she was pretty darn proud of that.
She waved to people she knew from school and petted animals as they walked by. A group of boys stopped her on the trail and told her they were having a soccer party after the drawing. The boys always asked Shayna to play sports with them... Mostly because she was the only girl that would. Playing for fun wasn't the only reason she was intrested, a boy in the group had caught her eye since she was small. He was tall and muscular, who wasn't, and he had dark hair. Even though they had spent many hours talking to him, and the group, she had never learned his name. She may never learn his name, for she could die by him or be the one to kill him. She never hoped... Hoping was worthless, and she'd learned that when he mother died. So if she were to be picked for the Hunger Games, then so be it.

xxxxSerpentine Artuga | District 2 "Commence!"
Under the watchful eye of her mother, Serpentine Artuga readied her fighting stance and waited for her opponent to strike first. Her opponent, her younger brother Valiance, readied his stance as well, tightly gripping a double-handed sword, and eyed Serpentine intensely. Then, he charged forward with a bloodcurdling cry, and slashed straight down. Serpentine skipped nimbly to the side, twirling on her right toe almost gracefully, and slashed out with her long sabre. Her powerful stroke knocked the sword right out of Valiance's hands, and she twirled again, this time towards her brother. Just before completing the turn, she stopped abruptly, as if frozen, in mid-lunge towards her brother. Her sabre was but an inch from his throat.
Valiance scrunched his face up in disappointment and stuck his tongue out at Serpentine. Sheathing her blade, she chuckled and slapped the back of her brother's head lightly. "That makes two out of three. Got the nerve for three out of five?" she said tauntingly.
Valiance rolled his eyes. "Shut up! You panicked for a second, don't lie! I'll be better than you, someday!" He stalked off angrily, throwing his sword into the ground in a fit of fury.
"Oh, yes," she said, humoring him. "Totally had me there. I was so scared."
"Stop heckling your brother, Serpentine," Her mother cut in. Her mother, the one that always took her brothers' side, no matter how much Serpentine kicked their butts. "Valiance is right. He was close to striking you. Now go wash. Tomorrow, we'll be training nonstop, and after that... you know. It's a big day tomorrow, and an even bigger one the day after."
"Of course, Mother. I would've died had he not shown me mercy. Because boys are so much better than girls," Serpentine muttered, and walked off. Not that she was angry at her mother for taking her brother's side; she'd gotten used to that treatment by now. She was never one to know when to hold back her words, though.
Thinking back, Serpentine stopped by a nearby tree and leaned her back against it. The day of the Hunger Games was quickly advancing upon them. The day of the reaping was not but two days away. Unconsciously, Serpentine flicked her tongue over her lips in anticipation. She couldn't wait. She would volunteer right away, try to puff out her chest in an effort for the District Two representative to notice her. She and her two brothers would always volunteer when the rep asked, but all the other kids would as well, and they never seem to get chosen.
But this year... this year would be different. The representative would notice one of the children in her family. She just knew it. Serpentine looked up at the blue sky above, and flicked her tongue around her lips.

Shayna Shayna thanked Mr. Thomson for the fish and trudged back home. It was a nice big one that he gave to her for only the price of a shrimp! They were good friends, her and Mr. Thomson. She'd tutored his daughter many times and helped her with training for the Hunger Games. A sudden knot swelled in her stomach when she thought of the possibility that Marny, the little girl she'd known for years, might get thrown into a death pit for entertainment. She stopped and almost dropped the trout. Quickly collecting herself, she thought 'I have to be stronger than that. I have to be.'
"Shay!" She heard someone call from her side. She squinted against the sun and spotted Shell, her best girl friend. "Hey, Shell. How's it be?" She asked with a smile. "I just got the CUTEST dress for tomorrow!" Shell squeaked. She didn't have to worry about getting sacrificed... Her father had enough money to keep the whole district safe. "Cool, I'll see it tomorrow." "If you need a dress..." Before she could finish Shayna shook her head and smiled. "Tomorrow, then." And she started off towards home, a frown on her face.

"Hey Mikael, Mika, Grandpapa, I'm home!" she called, to be greeted by two small blurs that tackled her. "Wren! Wren! We missed you!" Mikael and Mika squealed. Meanwhile, Wren's grandfather sat on the hard=packed dirt floor, rocking back and forth. "Grandpapa? Aren't you going to say hi?" Wren said half=heartedly. She didn't expect an answer, because she never got one. Grandpapa was just too far gone, in both body and mind. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that he would die soon. To her shame, Wren found herself almost wishing he would hurry it up and croak. He was a waste of food that could take a bit of the edge off her sibling's faces, a waste of blankets that could ease their shivering at night. However, to Wren's surprise, he spoke. "It is nearly time for the Games, Lilian. You must not allow yourself to be chosen." he murmured. Wren knelt next to her grandfather and took his hands. "Grandfather, I am not Lilian. I am not my mother. I am Wren, your granddaughter." she said gently, but apparently that was all her grandfather had to say, and he simply stared into an unknown distance. ⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿⑪✿{OurOctoberCalendar: ...}

Shayna"What's the occasion?" Shayna's father asked, eyeing the trout. "No occasion." Shayna smiled and took another bite. "It was cheap, and you guys need the food." "How cheap?" Joel asked. He was always trying to save money. "Cheap enough.." Changing the subject, she added "Where's that girlfriend of yours?" "She's with her parents for the week. They want to spend time together just in case." He answered, almost whispering. They ate their meal in silence from then on, not knowing what to say. That is, until her father got up and left, leaving half the fish on his plate. Shayna scowled and watched him leave. "That's okay, we have food to spare!" "He's just worried. We'll salt it and save it for later." Joel patted her shoulder and got up to wrap the fish and put it in the salt barrel. "He needs to show it in another way." She sighed.
Later that day, Joel took Shayna outside to a feild of wheat. They were hiding from searching eyes as they carved sharp sticks into daggers and made sling shots from scrap rubber. They could build just about anything with the right materials. "Are you worried about tomorrow?" Joel asked, handing her another rock. She thought for a second and shook her head. "I'll charm them into killing themselves." She winked. They both smiled, but Joel went back into a serious tone. "If I get picked, I wouldn't be worried. I'll know you two can take care of yourselves." He nudged her. "Same. But what would you ever do without me?" She asked, mocking a Capital accent. Joel let out a laugh that she hadn't heard in a while. It was full and healthy, like they were kids again. "That was no where near an accent." Shayna stuck her tongue out, but smiled. Maybe they just might make it another year.

xxxxSerpentine Artuga | District 2 Serpentine just barely contained the urge to 'accidentally' throw her eating utensils at her brother, who was eating supper like a pig. He scarfed down the contents of his plate in mere minutes, then literally lunged forward to heap seconds onto his plate. Serpentine watched him with a look of disgust. "Honestly, Audacity, have some decorum! We're not in a famine!" she said.
Her older brother looked up, crumbs all over his mouth, and, food flying from his mouth, shot back, "Shut up! A talented person as me's got to fill up for the Hunger Games. It's my last year, y'know. They got to pick me. So I should be all ready for it."
Serpentine rolled her eyes, a smirk tilting the corners of her lips. "As if, brother. If it's anybody they'll be picking, it'll be me. Who'll notice someone as you?"
"Who'll notice someone like you?"
"That's right!" Valiance cut in. "'Cuz they're gonna pick me. Once I'm old enough, of course."
Audacity sneered. "Who'd notice a tiny shrimp as you, huh, Valiance?"
Then the two boys launched into a fierce bicker, food particles flying everywhere. Serpentine, not wanting to partake in such silly banter, turned her attention back to her food. Plates of different meats filled the table, along with a plate of vegetables, which was barely touched, and some other foods. Serpentine finished her plate quickly and scooped a second helping on. Although she wouldn't admit it, she agreed with her brother; there was always a chance that she would be chosen, and if she was, she must be ready.
