The good news was that when the Christmas Gala started, everyone knew. The bad knews was that when the Christmas Gala started, everyone knew.
Clarice and Julie had spared no expenses or resources even, including several disgruntled Life and Moon Hunters still bustling around with decorations making sure that this was the Best Christmas Gala Ever. There was enough sweets and confections littered on the table to induce each Hunter into a diabetic coma. Brilliant lights decorated the entire large expanse of the room, which had been redecorated with three beautiful windows just for the occasion. A small bar - only for those of age of course - lingered near the back corner of the room, there was Christmas music blasting from God Knows Where, and Julie had, in a moment of brilliance, tied a couple of disco balls to the holly-covered ceiling.
The shared prima donna of this event herself was busy making sure the last of the decorations were properly put on that tree and oh, for Hunters to not eat the cake until the event was officially open. Five minutes later, the Christmas Gala was open for business, which meant food, dancing, if one insisted and clarified loudly enough over the blaring music, and of course, booze for everyone.
It was going to be the best Christmas Gala ever. JOY EFFECT NUMBER 5 Day 3:
- Joy Formula Number 5 has matured to its full potential, complete with impulsion to sing Christmas carols, believe that Christmas is possible the best thing ever and that they should dedicate the rest of their lives to learning how to become the best Santas/ Reindeer/ Snowmen / Elves, and that they should possibly all move North so that they can live in Christmas forever.
- Holiday cheer and get well wishes are also there, but they seem to be a little more competitive.

"A couple of games I'd like to announce!" Julie in her Mrs. Claus costume jingled her bells through the din to get people's attention. "The first is the Annual Christmas Gala Best Couple Competition. We will have a photoshoot in an hour with all the Christmas couples! The best Christmas Gala couple, as announced at the end of the Gala will get a special present." Present still being a trigger word, if not more so than ever. "If you don't have a partner you should probably get one then!" Julie exclaimed this as if this was the most obvious thing in the world. She then proceeded to scan the crows for her Christmas date.
"Secondly, there is the Christmas Dance Competition underway. If you think you have the dance skills, why not try proving yourself?" She gestured towards the mostly-empty floor. "Of course the best winners will also get a special present." And then suddenly, there were a couple of people dragging themselves to the floor.
"Lastly, don't forget to try our most excellent dessert selection. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!"
Yes, because Christmas was the best thing ever. OOC: CHRISTMAS GALA BEST COUPLE CONTEST - Players can choose to enter this Gala either already with an existing person or alone, and then to mingle and find someone to be a "couple" with for this event - There will be a photoshoot post explaining how to take a photo - The winners will get a nice OOC prize too as well (50 peppermint points to each winner)  OOC: CHRISTMAS DANCE COMPETITION - Players can also choose to dance in the Christmas dance competition. Simply choose a partner (it doesn't have to be romantic, players can just dance with any other player), and follow the dice rules below to see how well they did. - When on the dance floor, roll a 20-sided dice and quote your dance partner. The higher the score equals the better they did. HOWEVER, their partner must also quote their dance partner and roll a 20-sided dice. This also determines how well they did. So if one person rolls high and the other low, one person is really good and the other sucks. - Make sure for this that BOTH PLAYERS note at the bottom of their post that they are trying for the dance competition. - There will also be a nice OOC prize for this as well (choice of a rare minipet to each winner) OOC: THE DESSERT SELECTION - Somewhere in the dessert, Julie might have hidden a secret prize. It's a small golden marble, impossible to swallow and also somewhat impossible to miss once one tries to eat it. When helping oneself to any of the desserts, simply roll a 100-sided dice. If you roll a 25 you will obtain the marble! Simply rp your character discovering it... somehow - You can roll up to three times per player unless stated that you can roll again in another gm post, really, otherwise you'll get your character sick from eating so much dessert! - OOC: The winner will get their choice of a rare minipet

Dressed in the green elf version of Julie's outfit, Clarice was checking the food table and punch, to make sure no one had added anything extra. Everything else was finally set, and she didn't even have to dress like a penguin or polar bear or anything else ridiculous. Yet something was missing, from this night...from her life. "Have yourself a merry little Christmas, it may be your last..."
No! No this wouldn't be her last Christmas! Maybe...maybe if she just focused on Christmas forever, instead of all this Halloween business, maybe then she'd find real happiness. As a real elf. She could even make toys...

Eternity. Cass was still in this state where she'd stare into it, sometimes giggling to punctuate her unsettling silence. Which was unfortunate, she looked somewhat maintained - not actually wearing either of the costumes Julie had sent her and instead just dressed in Blue - a shade of blue she deemed 'Marcus Blue'..which was probably why she was wearing it. How she'd managed to dress herself was a mystery - it was probably the fault of Nicodemus as he'd talked her through the process.
Still, in the room she looked completely elated, her brain buzzing at a million miles per hour and clapping her hands together excitedly. "This is beautiful!" she beamed brightly, grinning so side it nearly split her face in half. She bounced barely in place, unsure where it was she should start with anything. It all looked amazing.
Her eyes looked like that dilated stare out of 'The Simpsons' before people started to have seizures all over the floor. Oh, this was so fantastic. Where was Santa? Was he going to visit? When could they go to his workshop? FFFFFFFFFFF.
"MarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcusMarcus!"
She started to chant the boys name repeatedly - she didn't really have to seek him out. He was..find-able, really, and it would be amazing. Once she figure out what they were going to do the entire evening. THIS WAS EXCITING!!!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.Eternity. Cass was so depressed. She was a female and thus she would never find true homo love.

The second Julie mentioned couples? Marcus had zoomed off to find Cass. When he found her pretty much vibrating in excitement? His arm was wrapped around her, wiggling to fit her into just that right spot by his side where he could bend over anytime he wanted and make out with her. Which was a bit of his plan. Because kissing could win presents and Cass was pretty much the best present ever. "The best Cass. Christmas. Casstmas. Cassmmmmm." He already had begun to kiss her neck. So far?
Marcus's joy addled head was focusing on uh- other things. It didn't help that Cass had a ribbon on her dress and had told him he had a very special present she wanted to give him and - oh god cake. Cassake. "Cass." He mumbled into her neck. "Cake?"
The second Julie mentioned couples? Marcus went zooming for his bro friends. He knew time was short, and all that would matter was the true homo love of another man.

There was no fuss from Cass as she was pressed up against Marcus's side, looping her arm around his waist and tilting her head a bit as his lips pressed against her neck - her magic brain-shut-off button. Not that it was very much on at the moment. "Marcassmas.." she answered back to him, deeming that it was the new name of the holiday in her head. Marcassmas forever. Always.
"Cake?" she answered back, "Cake-yesssssss..." she agreed, nuzzling her nose against the top of his head "Always cake. Allwaayysssssyessss... Like birthday cake!" she added, grinning. An extra-exciting idea since she had turned 17 recently.
17 not 22.
Cass pondered a gender change. Maybe if she got black and white hair...

If Julie was dressed like Mrs. Claus, then Bix was obviously dressed like Santa Claus. Of course he hadn't worn anything but the suit since he'd gotten it caroling. But he had showered AND washed the suit for this occasion. He'd even put on the belly. His hair was in a high ponytail but the braid was absent, his ponytail flowed free and there was a sprig of holly in the band. His Santa hat was dangling from his fingers.
"Julie.. Your husband is heeeerreeee HOHOHO!" He jiggled his belly. Honestly, at the moment (and for the past few days) he'd really started liking the idea that he was Santa Claus for now and he would be the best ever. If Julie was Mrs. Claus then she obviously was meant to be.... for the moment. "Do we get to be best couple if you are holding the thingy? Gala thingy?" He jiggled his fluff-belly idly. "Cause I mean.. Presents."
His eye caught sight of Cass and Marcus making out. Good for them.. wait.. what did he just think in his mind? Good for them? NO! BOO! Bix and Julie could be WAY BETTER A COUPLE than those two could.
The albino got a weird glint in his eye and cast his gaze on Julie. She was looking somehow better than ever. Bix had his JOY-goggles on.Thankfully Bix was there. He saw Marcus and knew in his eyes that there was no man more masculine of beautiful. He and Marcus would ride into the sunset, master and epic mount.

And then Julie saw Bix.
Insert a very slow motion sort of slow motion run as Julie ran towards Bix, both arms outstretched, every single ornament and accessory on her body jingling as she shouted out very loudly "TONYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"
This seemed to be some sort of prolonged Joy-overdosed effect complete with sparkling angels and all sorts of magical bubbles in the background as she ran. It wasn't until she was a couple of feet away from Bix that she tripped on the Christmas light wires and fell face-first on the ground. And then Julie saw Bix. She knew what she had to do. Encourage Bix to make the first move.

Bix had never seen a more graceful fall. He was tall, she was petite, the conclusion was clear.
He swept her off the ground (though he may have grunted and strained to the rest of the world) and he was as strong and quick as a guy on a romance novel cover.
In his head they looked fantastically romantic.
"Merry Christmas Mrs. Claus!" He set her on her feet and leaned in......

 The first thing Gale saw when he walked into the room were Cass and Marcus snogging.
This was followed closely by Bix and Julie running towards each other from the opposite ends of the room with Julie attempting to be utterly romantic (she tripped) and Bix attempting to be some sort of cheesy hero from one of those gross romantic comedies (he almost dropped her).
And then Bix leaning in for a snog too.
And then more snogging.
Gale, who had made his way down to the gala all the while singing a very loud and raucous version of "Jingle Bell Rock" and who was carrying a fluffy, oversized Santa hat in his hand, and who was clearly here by himself without a date, was quite put out by all of this...coupling.
And decided he was going to spend the rest of his life doing nothing but Santa-ish things. You didn't need a girl to be the Best Santa Ever, right?
Right.Gale looked thoughtfully at both Bix and Marcus. So many choices, and he was so young... so inexperienced. Who would be his first homo lover?

Bixy Claus was obviously in love..... for however long this JOY thing lasted. His face was now flushed red and he was grinning like a fool. He tried to be suave though (and he was sure that even though they weren't groping eachother they were WAY more romantic than Cass and Marcus) and put his Santa hat onto the side a bit.
"Soulmates?" His weapon screamed in horror in his head. She was hating this JOY thing, "Am I Santa and you Mrs. Claus? OBVIOUSLY."
He offered the crook of his elbow to her with a 'smoldering' look. Why was not questioning the Tony thing?It was then that Bix and Gale locked eyes. A thousand words and thoughts passed through their heads, were they the right ones?

When Tedan walked into the Gala, he was wearing the costume that Julie had given him for Christmas. When he'd first gotten the thing, he'd been faintly horrified, but now ... well now it just seemed like a REALLY GOOD IDEA for some reason to wear it! I mean, it was adorable! And in the spirit of the season, he had added an elf hat to his head. The bells on it jingled with every step that he took.
And then the first thing Tedan saw was a whole lot of making out. Oh gee ... just ... what? Was this a dance or a make-out session? Part of him was tempted to tell them all to get a room, when he spotted Gale standing nearby and also looking rather put-out by all of this. He clearly should have found himself a date. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" he asked, leaning over toward the other."Yo," Said Tedan. "I am totally straight. S'up."

Gale glanced towards Tedan and then leaned over, giving the other a Very Big Hug (It was Christmas, wasn't it? The time for hugging and other happy things - except maybe, you know, actually getting a date to the gala...) before saying dryly:
"As long as what you're thinking is this is not a make out party, it's a Christmas party, and that I feel pathetic for not having a date when it's Christmas, but I don't need a girl to be the Best Santa Ever, which is totally what I'm going to do for the rest of my life, then yes."
There was a slight pause.
"Otherwise, probably not."
He then proceeded to push up the sleeves on his very nice, Christmas-y sweater (the reindeer was happy, wasn't it?) and march over to the refreshment table to get something to eat, dragging the other hunter with him.
Gale glanced at Tedan, but his eye contact had already been stolen by Bix, and therefore his heart. He knew Bix was the the one, there could be no other homo lover.

Maybe it was the competitive nature of the JOY, but when Bix tried to be romantic with Julie? It was so on. Pulling away from Cass, he bowed and taking her hand in his, led her to the food. "I will need to get you extra presents because of your birthday." She might be 17 but she still wasn't 18. Which was illegal in most places.
Which made Marcus go HNGGGGG sometimes. Like for the fact making out was about as far as they'd go. Which he proceeded to do again.
Sorry Gale, he just really liked making out with Cass.
Maybe it was the nature of the JOY, but Marcus saw Bix and he saw Gale, and he knew what he had to do. It was time share mounts.
