Craft: --
Rank: --

Physical Description: Rather average in height with a lean and lithe build. M'cel has black hair that he grows out long. His pretty hair is wavy, expecially so after a few hours under a riding helm. His skin is tanned, his eyes are dark brown and typically glittering with mischief. M'cel tends to look a bit scruffy. He claims he's rugged. We all know better. He's scruffy. You can't grow a beard, M'cel. Just stop while you're ahead.

His form and face are both pleasing, but he's no longer the twenty something that he was. His face shows a life filled with laughter and joy, with the creases by his eyes and mouth. He possesses a truly lovely smile and seems to be constantly showing it off.

Personality: Some riders seem to thrive on drama, some thrive on harming others. M'cel? He thrives on neither. Drama? Hell no? Being cruel? Puh-leeze. M'cel is a lover, not a fighter. He wants an easygoing, fun life. Drama and those who cause it have no place in his personal life. In his work life? They're tolerated and dealt with as best he can.

This rider has a golden touch with people, perfectly paired with his silver tongue. M'cel is rather quick witted and equally quick to spit out his funny little phrases. He's charismatic and handsome, and people tend to like to have him around for placating those who's tempers seem to get the best of them. He uses logic and cheer to make his points, and seemingly never looses his temper.

Like many humans in their prime, M'cel loves to be around those who can be... Woo'd. Though he doesn't flirt for a tumbling after anymore, flirting and compliments seem to be his second language. He can find nearly anything to compliment someone about, and they slip out of his mouth easier than other words. He'll flirt with just about anyone. (One wouldn't get flirted with, though. Oh, no. Do you think he has a death wish?) He's never serious about it. Just friendly.

While some Weyrborn may think they're better, M'cel is not one of those people. Sure, it makes him different, but no better by default. One must prove themselves before they can be judged. He is tolerant of those from outside the Weyr as long as they're nonthreatening. With holders, at least. Other riders? Well...

M'cel is fiercly proud of his Weyr and all those who reside in it. Look at all the bronzes, look at the queens! His sense of pride in his Weyr is shown in himself and those he loves. They're obviously the best, because they all work hard. He takes pride in everything he does, from his dragon's appearance to his own. His pride can be rather annoying, and he seemingly never puts it before a fall...

Except when it comes to his Weyrmate. While one would expect such an unrepentant flirt to never find a Weyrmate, he somehow has. And he is devoted. He truly loves her and loves to spar verbally with her, but if she's unhappy with him? Oh, should no one ever see that! The man will do anything to please her and make her happy again, and likely is teased by his peers about being a doormat.

As serious as his beloved Anzy is, M'cel is not nearly so. The man likes to have a good time, and he loves to tell stories. And he is chatty. He doesn't like to stop talking. He talks when he's excited, he talks when he's nervous. He even snores sometimes. (One wonders how An'za has kept herself from smothering him in his sleep.) While it's good to have someone who's unafraid to talk, there are many, many people who want to stuff a sock in his mouth and bind it shut.

Like many blue riders before him, M'cel suffers from little-dog syndrome. He's been scolded before for working too hard, pushing his dragon and himself to prove that they're both worth their spots in the Weyr. He tends to throw caution to the wind and acts far bigger than he is. The reason? He is utterly petrified of being worthless. Every dragon grows old, of course. Will he be useless when his dragon can no longer serve? A drain on the Weyr? Though he hopes not, he can't help but worry....

History: Born Marcel to the rider K'ten and his weyrmate Monaca, the lad had a typical weyrbrat life. While he did have the added information of who his parents were, it never mattered much to him. His mother passed soon after he was born, and K'ten was far too busy with his Brown and his greif to care about a child. M'cel never seemed to mind: He had a large family within the Weyr! From an early age his natural good looks and his cheer made him popular with those in his age group. He was a happy child who got in as much trouble as possible.

Marcel learned to talk his way out of many situations, and the pranks were never mean spirited. They did give him a reputation for being an ornery, if good, child. He was proud of his charm and how well he got on with most people. As all children in the Weyr did, he stood for the first hatching after he came of age. Though it was amazing to see all of the hatchlings and the Impression, he was left on the sands. Undaunted, he cheerily returned to his normal life.

A few turns after the first hatching, something both amazing and awful happened: He met Anayza. She was a rather interesting girl; she didn't seemed charmed by him and had a biting wit. As she was a holdborn, the exuberant and annoying Marcel likely only worsened any pre-conceived opinions that she had about the Weyr. Seemingly infatuated with her, Marcel pestered her constantly. She was quick witted and sharped tongued, and that excited him. She wouldn't take any of his crackdust! They likely drove their candidatemaster into rages, as they could even make punishments out to be a competition. Anayza claimed that anything he could do she could do better, and he was going to give her a run for her marks!

The pair both stood for hatching some time later, likely annoying those around them with their bickering across the sands. ('What dragon would want a flirty braggart like you?' 'I bet more than would want a loud competitor like you! You'll scare them all away!') Finally, it was Marcel's turn to shine. He Impressed first to a lovely blue. Obviously delighted, M'cel wished her the very best of luck as he went off the sands. Of course, Anayza Impressed that same Hatching. M'cel wasn't surprised; she'd always given him a run for his marks. To let him 'win' now? She would have been more likely to have conjured a dragon from her own sheer will. Both passed on to being Weyrlings together, likely to the dismay of their Weyrlingmaster. M'cel liked to imagine that the Candidatemaster had cackled and proclaimed them the Weyrlingmaster's problem now.

After training was done, they were sorted into their squads. The bickering and seemingly endless contests continued. ("Sir, he's looking at me!" "Well, you're looking at me too! How else would you know?" "Last time I stopped looking at you, you put a bug in my hair." "I caught him for you. He was a gift. He had a name. He had a name, An'za." "...You named. A bug." "His name was Biff." "That sounds like squish." "He might have had a family!" And then they got punished for bickering, and turned it into a competition.) An'za was always very driven, which only made M'cel work harder to keep up. He wasn't about to let her win!

He did win, in a way. M'cel's dragon caught An'za's in her maiden flight. While she swore that he'd paid off the other men and he swore that it was simply his dragon's amazing prowess, M'cel was very glad. To have someone else have their filthy paws over her, possibly harming her? It was too much to think about. Finally, after years of fighting and bickering, those in the Weyr who had placed their bets were rewarded: the pair weyrmated up. Like children who hide their affection behind taunting and fighting, the two had continued that far past the age it should have stopped at. They had one child who was raised in the normal weyr way, and is likely off terrorizing the Candidatemaster. At least the old one doesn't have to deal with ANOTHER one.

M'cel has continued to annoy An'za ever since, much to her likely displeasure.

Other/Talents: Expert at flirting and somehow not getting killed by his Weyrmate.

Dragon Information
Name: Derreth
Color: Blue
Age: 22

Pose Preference: Proud
Reference Pictures: Derreth!
Scars: ( Yes/No and where located if applicable.)

Physical Description:
Personality: Whatever preconceived notions the Weyr might have had regarding a male dragon's inability to have motherly traits, shove them out the window. Derreth adores youth and he enjoys taking care of things. He has always had a heightened sense of responsibility not only with his own self, but with others around him. He was a careful dragon in his youth, but he was not an irrational one, and it has received him a title of being a slow and steady type. While many dragons may try to cover up this nature with a masculine ideal of "looking out for their friends", Derreth doesn't seem to care about cultural stigmitisms about general personality. Derreth doesn't mind the great majority of odd quirks and faults that people are perceived to possess.

This gives Derreth the capability to not only get along with, but to actually like, the vast majority of the people that he comes in contact with. In his youth, the blue was not the greatest of socializers, preferring to add only small comments into conversations when a friend would provide encouragement. It was His' overly friendly and talkative attitude which has produced the Derreth of today: someone who is inclined to approach a human or dragon who is sitting alone and begin an interesting conversation. Derreth takes great enjoyment in breaking the ice with something other than the typical hello. He is confident with hemself, because he is confident in His, and has a very easy time in letting insults and harsh statements slide off of his skin.

As a matter of fact, Derreth very rarely takes most of anything personally, even if it affects His. This dragon is always creating logical reasons and excuses for the mistakes of others whether it be because those people have cultural differences, were simply overwhelmed by a situation, or just were not raised right by their parents. This is not the type of blue you want in charge of reprimanding those who have done wrong, or placed in a Wing with particularily manipulative and cruel wingmates. Ills that have been come to him are hard to remember. Derreth takes the phrase "forgive and forget" quite literally. The young blue believes there is no one to blame, and unless his gives him strong prodding to do so, he will not persue reprimand nor will he talk to someone if he feels wronged. It is up to His, for the most part, to ensure that he does not forget too soon and forgive the wrong people.

In a Wing, this also means that M'cel's nervousness over not doing his best becomes a strength for Derreth's own personality. This blue is extremely difficult to get ramped up for any subject. When there is danger, he is able to keep a calm head, but he always wants to do thing in that slow and steady manner. While he has learned when certain situations require extra-quick thinking and dangerous maneuvers and will engage when needed, Derreth would simply rather avoid rushing into a situation. While he does not see the need to think most things through, as overthinking may lead to problems, he requires a calm head when he does act. Rushing Derreth into anything is generally a bad idea as it results in an inefficient and sometimes sloppy dragon. He will do his best when given a few moments to sort small details out for himself.

As far as flights are concerned, Derreth is an unusual ladies' man, much like his Rider. Unlike His, however, this blue is hardly a flirt, at least not by conscious nature. Derreth's skill with the women, who he adores absolutely, comes from the desire to take care of them. He wants to see female dragons smile almost as much as he likes seeing young children laugh and play. Derreth may not be very enthusiastic in games himself, but he certainly enjoys listening to those who are. Before, After (And sometimes during!) flights, Derreth will be a listening ear, paying attention to small details that make the other person happy. This has likely made him popular among all sorts of female dragons, his attentiveness making him an exceptional partner.
