Well now this was new he thought to himself as he looked around the area that he was now standing in the middle of. A forest? He'd never been to one of those before, normally finding himself thrown out of the car in town, but this was his first time in a place like this. They had been driving out to meet with someone that Shale knew, a member of his group, and now... here he was. He really needed to hold his tongue, or so he was told by his guardian before he'd gotten the boot. Hold his tongue? As if... he would rather enjoy himself, why should he bother with censoring himself? If he did that he'd never have any fun and never make any cute friends!
Ramaur's wings closed against his back, his tentacles wrapped around his body and arms, then he headed along his way. He saw a path, wondering idly if perhaps it was a hunting trail? Or a nature trail? He had no idea but figured he would learn only by walking along it. No reason to stand here and wait... not as though Shale were going to be coming back any time soon... and he didn't want anyone to think he was trying to hitchhike because that could very well land him with a woman wanting to give him a ride. They were always the worst when they found him wandering around, always acting annoyingly motherly or flirty with him... and he had zero interest in them. He blamed what he was, his species, and that the betzalel had no females. Of course he wouldn't be attracted to them since it wasn't in him to be.
"Wonder what I might find out here." Maybe something to eat? Yeah, maybe if he found a river or something he could a fish! Not that he had any idea how to do so, all he knew was that fish was delicious when you got it at the store so it must be even better when they were fresh! Grinning behind the mask he wore he headed forward to search around for... something interesting!

As Ramaur was wandering down the path, another someone was wandering up it, and they met. If only for a very, very short instant. What appeared to be a... deer on two legs... froze in place out of the corner of the other's eye, and then took off, back down the path, quick as a shot.
The path wound around the flat land of the forest, avoiding trees and a small brook, before it finally arrived at the front of a small cabin. The door of which was closed. The small two-legged shape from before was seen darting around the back of the house, disappearing in the back yard.

Ramaur blinked a couple times then starred at the little creature that appeared, looking a bit like a deer, though this one white. He seemed to freeze up, as deer were know to do, then turned around and ran off. He blinked a couple times, lifting a hand to scratch it against his chin, then shrugged, "Ah well, it's something to do." He said as he moved to follow along after the white deer. He was left out here to do... well whatever. He doubted his guardian cared so long as he couldn't go to the meeting that Shale was at to embarrass him or something. Not that he cared about the workings of Shale's group, all he cared about now was deer hunting.
"Wonder where a deer like that came from." He murmured to himself, though he knew soon enough as he found himself in front of a small cabin, "Holy Hells... someone actually lives this far out here?" He murmured, eyes going a little wide with shock at the thought. What a terrible thing. He was pretty certain that he would go insane being stuck all the way out here, though maybe if his harem were set up out here it would be alright. He wouldn't have to worry about anyone messing with his boys he thought to himself, considering it for but a moment, then shook his head. Naw, it wouldn't be as fun if they were out here and couldn't play around in town or go shopping when Ramaur wasn't around or had to work.
Walking around the little cabin when he didn't see anyone else around the curious squid bird looked around, trying to see if he could spot his bright white prey anywhere around the area...

The white deerboy was peeking around the side of the cabin, shyly making sure that he wasn't being followed. Seeing that he was indeed being followed, he ducked quickly to the side, and a door was heard slamming as the white one disappeared from view.
A couple moments later, someone else emerged from the cabin, dressed in typical 'comfortable' woodcutter, or explorer's garb, consisting of a pair of khaki shorts, tall black boots, and a medieval-style jerkin, cinched at the waist with a hastily-done belt. He looked like he belonged here, for all that he was cleanshaven, and his hair was in a neat ponytail.
Only, something was off about him too. Yellow eyes. Bright yellow eyes. And a slightly darker look than usual. More sinister, while not really being angry or mean. As though there was a potential there for violence.
The man turned his head to take in the person on his property.
"You there! Boy! What are you doing way out here?"

Ramaur spotted the deer for a moment... and then he was gone again and he could hear a door slamming somewhere, an indication that the white one had run off. He gave a little huffing sound behind his mask, "Well that sucked." He muttered to himself, displeased with the fact that he had lost the one that he had been chasing, having wanted to see what he was. Great, now he had to find his way back... or forward, depending on which way would bring him to something more interesting. Lifting a hand up he scratched it against his chin before he heard the sound of footsteps, drawing his attention to a man that had appeared from the same cabin the deer had vanished into.
Starring at the man for a long moment he couldn't help but to find him to be rather cute... which was the normal enough for him, "What am I doing here? I followed something that ran into me on the path." He said, giving a half shrug, a bit disappointed that he'd never found the one that had led him here. Giving a bit of a smile he took a step closer to the man with the interesting, brightly colored eyes, "It's a shame I didn't care up with the little white creature, I was quite curious to see what it was, but I can't say that it was so bad to meet with you instead, cutie." He told him, wings giving a flutter. It was this flirtatious nature of his that often got him kicked out of the car when it came to Shale.
"So, do you and your little white friend have names, cutie?" He asked, giving a grin that was hidden by his mask as he took another step closer to him. He should likely be heading on his way but... well this guy was interesting so he wouldn't rush off straight away.

The man blinked at the blatant come-on, and sighed, stepping back very slightly to show that the white-deer was still there... clinging to this man's leg. And the man himself didn't seem too pleased about being hit on - although he didn't seem overtly ANGRY as of yet.
"My SON and I do have names. I am.. Jim. And this is Star." he said, curling one arm around the frightened deer. He patted his back as Star buried his head in the man's leg, and trembled there.
"You're already on my land, so I guess I can invite you inside. I've got coffee, tea, or cocoa, your choice." He waved a hand toward the squidbird in a 'come on in' gesture. "You know how they say in the country. Mind your p's and q's, don't cuss, and wipe your feet on the welcome mat. I have one more rule. No sharp objects. Got any knives, leave 'em in the sawdust box on the porch."

"Son, huh? Cute, when he's older I'd love to talk with you about a fun opportunity for him." As well as a fun opportunity for Ramaur himself since he was going to be the one in charge of the harem that he was planning on building. He would discuss that in detail later though since the little deer looked to be quite small that he got a good look at him. The biggest thing about him was all that hair... so pretty. He shook his head to break off from starring at him and smiled at the one that was called Jim. It seemed like a simple name for such a nice looking man but he supposed that it would make it easier to remember.
As he found himself suddenly invited in for coffee he couldn't help but to grin, wings giving a flutter, "I'd love to have some coffee with you Jim." He said following along after the man, eyes glittering in delight as he enjoyed checking the man out as he walked along behind him. He found himself wondering what the letters p and q had with anything but merely nodded his head. No cussing... that was a touch more difficult though when he cursed it was usually in arguments so that could be avoided he hoped, and wiping his feet... he looked down at his feet, "Might he easier to take the boots off." Given the heavy soles on them they were rather likely to be caked with mud, leaves, and various other stuff that he had gotten stuck to them while walking in the woods.
He was working on doing just that when the man mentioned the rule about sharp objects and he found himself looking interested. Knives, what a good idea. Maybe he should see about getting a few of those to protect himself and his lovelies with he thought to himself as he stepped out of his boots, "I will leave these here so that they don't risk trailing mud." He said, watching the pair of pretties walking there in front of him.

Not really bothered by the extra set of eyes on his posterior - seemed he was used to being hit on - he put the pot on for coffee. He moved over to the other side of the room where there was a dining table, and a chair, and made sure Star was settled before he backtracked to shut the door after the squidbird.
"So. Name? We like to keep things proper here." Jim said, walking over to a small fridge, and pulling out a beer, and what looked like a Lunchable, only slightly fancier. He stuck it into the microwave, and started heating it up. As he was doing that, he took out some lettuce, and a sealed tupperware container of fruits and veggies, headed over to the chopping board on the other side of the kitchen to start making a salad.
"Oh. And what you want for lunch. S'about that time, so I'm makin' Star and myself a bit of grub. We've got chicken, beef, rabbit food, desserts and stuff. Just tell me what you want, and I can try and make it. And tell me what in high hell's name you're doin' away from the city."

As the guy put on the coffee he found himself a touch disappointed. Wait, he meant actual coffee? That was a shame... He gave a shake of his head, deciding that he had plenty of time to try to win the man over so there was no reason for him to rush. He glanced over toward Star, starring at the quiet, though brightly colored, boy and back again when the man spoke, demanding his name saying they liked to keep things proper. Ah, right, polite manners and all of that, "I'm called Ramaur." He said, moving closer so that he could watch the man as he gathered up various foods out of the fridge.
So the guy was inviting him to lunch, huh? He was the first that wanted to do dinner and dating first, huh? He supposed that he could do that he thought to himself before he looked at the food, "I will eat a bit of anything, bread and fish are the best though, what is rabbit like? Never ate a rabbit before." He couldn't say that he'd ever even thought about eating a rabbit before, they were small, fast, and not the first thing he'd think of when one though of food... at least where he was from that was.
As the man asked him what he was doing away from the city he laughed, "Well first I was getting lost, then I was following the little deer over there when he crossed paths with me then bolted as though he thought I might eat him." Truth be told he'd ended up quite interested in the boy after he'd run in such a manner, maybe it was the predator in him? Could have been just that though upon seeing him eating Star was the very last thing he wanted to do, the first being catching him and bringing him back to his harem... well once he finally got it off the ground that was.

Jim raised a brow as he started to finely chop the lettuce on the board, and threw it all into a large bowl, mixing it up with the fruits and veggies to make a very tasty-looking salad. He walked back to the fridge to grab a bottle of ranch dressing.
"No rabbits. Star keeps rabbits and the like as pets, so we don't eat 'cute' around here. Rabbit food's like... greens. Lettuce and veggies and stuff."
Again walking back over to the cutting board, he slathered the salad with the dressing, tossing it thoroughly with a pair of tongs he grabbed from an overhead hanger over the stove. The food in the microwave beeped, and he took it out, setting it aside to work on in a moment, before moving BACK to the fridge, putting away the dressing and leftover salad stuff, getting out a piece of fresh fish, and snagging a pan on his way back to the stove. He put some oil from a cupboard in the pan, slapped the fish down, and started to cook it, adding salt and pepper as he went.
"Hope you don't mind cod. But yeah, this place is mine and Star's. Wasn't exactly expecting company this afternoon, but hey. Gotta prepare for the unexpected. My mom always said that, up until the day she died. If you're lost, I can probably guide you back to the city."
Star, for his part, was quietly sitting at the table, position very drawn-up and closed-in. He was shy to a fault, it seemed, and didn't even appear to be comfortable meeting Ramaur's eyes.

"Ahhh." So Rabbit food was the food that rabbits ate, not rabbits that were food. He would have to remember that saying though he had no idea where he might here it again back home, "No eating cute things? That's a shame, here I was hoping that would be able to eat you and your adorable son, only when he's older of course." His lips twisted up into a grin behind his mask and that devious smile of his reached his sparkling eyes, as well as made the dots on his skin glow just a little brighter. It was obvious that he was having fun with the flirting even though he wasn't really getting that good of a reaction, or any reaction, out of the man yet. Maybe he wasn't interested? That would be a huge shame given he was rather cute.
Giving a curious though he took a step closer, looking at the fix that he'd retrieved, "Not sure what Cod is but it smells rather good." He said, tentacles wiggling in delight at the smell of it. He supposed that he really should behave himself so that he didn't get himself kicked out before he was able to eat the rather tasty smelling meal, "It's a strange place to have a house." He said when the man commented that it was his and Star's place, "Don't you miss all the stuff you can get in the city?" Like shopping whenever, fast food, sidewalks, he was pretty sure he'd go crazy being stuck out in a place like this forever, "If it weren't for the two of you being here I am not sure what I would do." Other then getting lost forever or following the road back to civilization that was...
At mention that he could probably guide Ramaur back he gave a happy sound, "Really? Man wouldn't that really stick in that pri... erm... guy's face. I am sure he is hoping I would get lost forever." And some learn some sort of stupid lesson at that. Take that Shale! Stupid p***k! Next time he saw his worthless guardian he was going to give him a swift kick in the a** he thought to himself, wings giving a flutter.

The fish simmered in the oil, as Jim added sauce to the pan, and used the spatula to 'soak' the piece of fish. As that was settling down to a light sizzle, he went over to the fancy-looking lunchable, and opened it, revealing it to be a 'create-your-own' sandwich thing. Deli-Creations, the box read, and Jim started spreading the sauce on the bread, and 'building' the sandwich from there.
"Don't miss it, not really." he said, getting out two wooden plates and a wooden bowl. "We're here for a reason, although it's not exactly as though I forced myself out here. I've been living in this cabin on and off for about ten years."
Turning his attention back to the fish, he flipped it, and simmered on the other side, watching it closely as he used the tongs to put some of the salad into a bowl, and the sandwich on a plate. After the fish was done, he put that onto a plate, too, slathered it with more sauce, and took some tartar sauce from the fridge, putting all three plates, the tartar sauce, two forks, and two glasses of milk, one glass of water on the table.
Star took the salad and the water, starting to munch delicately with the fork. Not making a single sound. Although he appeared to be watching everything, aware of everything, most of his attention was focused on his meal.

No reaction at all? Not even the negative sort that he got from his guardian even... shocking. Starring at him he gave a bit of a sigh and a pout, wanting to say something else that would get some sort of rise out of the guy, good or bad, to make things interesting but... he got nothing. Instead he crossed his arms over his chest, tentacles wrapping around himself, "Ten years." He mused when the guy said that he'd been out here this long. That was... that was... horrifying. He didn't think he'd last ten hours, let along ten years, without all the fun stuff that he could find in the city. It was on the tip of his tongue to ask how in the hell he manage when the man set about finishing up the fish and plating it and his attention was on the free food once more.
Soon enough the three of them were sitting down at the table for lunch and he was digging in, purring over the delicious meal, before glancing at Star and his... food, "So you are the one that eats like a rabbit, huh? Makes sense though I suppose, I can't really picture a deer going after a steak or something." Though it might be funny to see a deer trying to run down a cow in the wild he thought to himself as he ate a few more bites of his food. Turning to look over at Jim he asked, "Does Star not know how to talk?" He asked, curious now if the boy was a mute... that would be a shame, would mean that he would never be able to talk with him... maybe he was just not talkative? He did seem young so maybe he just hadn't learned yet? Could really be anything he supposed but he had to admit that he was oddly curious. Mostly since he'd yet to meet anyone that wouldn't talk to him at least a little before... then again he hadn't met anyone immune to his flirting either but Jim seemed to be that.
Quite unlucky it would seem on both accounts for him...

"Star can talk." Jim said, eating some of his own sandwich. "He is just terribly shy. He is also rather frail, and gets very ill very easily."
He looked over at his son a moment, and noticed him looking up at Ramaur for a change. That was new. He didn't usually take to people so quickly. Star just a rapidly looked away, back to his meal.
"He likes you at least." Jim said, taking another bite, and looking out one of the windows. He was surprised to see it was almost dark. Hadn't thought it was THAT late.
"Well, I can't take you back in the dark." he said - interrupted by a loud clap of thunder that shook the whole house slightly. "... Or the storm. I was expecting it to get here later in the week, but I suppose you can't predict these things..."
Too late, he looked back to try and comfort Star - but the deerboy was off like a shot, immediately having wedged himself into one of the corners of the living room, pushed back against the walls of the room, huddling in a shivering wreck.
"... Excuse me a moment."
Jim got up, and moved over to Star, kneeling to pull him into a hug, and rock him slightly back and forth, trying to calm him down while he spoke to Ramaur.
"I'd like it if you stayed the night. It's too dark out, and about to be too wet out, to take you home. If it's not storming in the morning, we can go then. I have an old jeep that can take rough terrain... but I'm not drivin' in the dark, in the rain."

Ramaur gave a nod when the guy said that Star could talk, it only had him starring at the kid that more closely, unblinking. He was terribly shy and frail as well as got ill easily. It made him wonder if perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea for him to to get inducted into the harem... he didn't want to risk his health after all though it would be shame to lose him. He really was a cutie.
His attention turned back to his meal, eating the last few bites of his meant before he heard a rather loud crash of thunder which had him lifting his gaze upward. Well now... he had noticed the clouds earlier but really hadn't thought that there would be a thunder storm. What a pain, "Huh... I wasn't expecting that either." But then again he wasn't really one for forecasting the weather personally. He should have been going with his idiot of a guardian to a boring meeting, all of it being indoors so he shouldn't have gotten caught in a storm at all. He really hoped that when the rains came down along with the thunder and lightning that Shale felt guilty over dumping him out in the middle of nowhere when all he was doing was a bit of harmless flirting. You didn't see this guy tossing him out the door when he did so.
Turning his gaze toward the chair that had been filled with the little deer boy... only to find it empty, "Eh?" His eyes turned to looking over at Jim as the man pushed up to his feet to excuse himself and he pushed up to his feet to follow along in a curious manner, wondering what was going on. It made sense when he saw the shivering deer boy who was huddled up in his dad's arms and he couldn't help but to think that he was rather cute... in a sort of... pathetic manner, "He gonna be alright?" He asked, more worried about the deer then getting back tonight. Staying over meant leaving his guardian to with plenty of time to feel bad about dumping him off in the woods as well as plenty of time to try to get to know Jim better. He was glad for the storm, well aside from the part where it gave Star a heart attack that was.
