Mist crept about the roots of trees, suffocated the low plants and snaked along the pathways of the dark forest. It clogged the air and drove what denizens remained into hiding. The grayness felt alive, an entity with a hunger to devour everything that fell before it whether it was stone, animal or air. If it couldn't swallow it's victim it confused it. Paths disappeared behind it, were hidden in front, walls of gray to the sides. There were few who the fog bowed to, few who could wander through it without fear.
A large grey Stallion trotted through it, the fingers of mist swirling around his hooves and legs, parting before him. The sound of his hooves were dulled by the dead leaves that littered the deer's path. He moved with the assurance of a goal in mind, though he lingered there in the fog.
It was a lover's embrace for the Kalona, a whisper of hidden places and the keen embrace of solitude. For lessers of his kind may treasure a cloudless sky and the bright sun, the dying forest and cinereal haze was far more beautiful to him. There was a comfort and familiarity in the unknown.
He slowed down to a walk as the fog thickened further. The Stallion could not see more than two body lengths away and silence seemed thicker. He smiled, admiring the way the trees twisted and groped the air with their spindly branches. It was a nightmarish scene that belonged in any lesser's horror stories, whispered to foals to make them behave, or shared between adults to test fortitude. For him it was home, no more, no less.
The walk slowly moved into a full stop. He breathed it in, letting it out slowly. It was good to be home again.

A lone mare traveled through the misty forest. The only thing distinguishing the mare's ivory coat from the lightly colored mist that encompassed the forest was the crimson stains that covered her body.
Soft snorts could be heard from the small mare as she pranced along through the mist. With each hoof fall, the sounds of the dead leaves echoed through the thick air. It appeared as though the mare were dancing to the music she was creating with the leaves. Her front legs lifted high as she craned her neck back towards her chest, giving her a graceful appearance.
Her horn pierced through the mist first, as though she were using it to cut herself a path. The large, tattered wings she possessed were folded neatly to her sides and her tail flapped back and forth wildly. Pupilless eyes focused on what she could see ahead of her, which wasn't much thanks to the mist that was attempting to swallow the forest whole.
Without thinking of the danger, the small mare carried on at the quick pace. Her mind at the moment was like that of a foal: playful and naive. Suddenly, a soft tune escaped from the mare as she hummed softly to herself. Nothing seemed to scare her and she honestly didn't care if she attracted a potential predator at the moment. So far, she had been lucky when it came to encounters with kalona, but that wasn't to say she would always be so lucky.

He opened his eyes as sound reached him. It was dull, but he could tell the sounds of hooves. Another out wandering in the mist like himself? The Stallion straightened, smiling at the prospect of meeting the coming horse. Was it a lesser lost in the haze or another of his own kind enjoying the scenery?
The grey Kalona waited for the other to appear. The sound of hooves was soon accompanied by soft humming. A mare by the tone, and most likely a lesser. A figure of white appeared, the edges dulled by the everychanging fog. For a moment he believed it a trick of the eyes, yet it grew closer and closer. He had been right, it was a mare, and a Kalona. A half-breed, he corrected himself, as he caught sight of the horn. A blood-stained hybrid.
That perked his attentions and he stepped forward with a smirk. "Are you lost, my lady?"

Morana was trapped in her own world of thoughts and fantasies. She seemed to be lost in the forest that she knew so well. Her pupil less eyes held no clue to her thoughts or feelings for the time being. A blank gaze usually gave those that she met the creeps.
Suddenly, a door opened and she was allowed to escape the prison in her head when she heard the male's voice. Her ears perked towards him and her once emotionless eyes focused on the grey stallion that seemed to be focusing on her.
Males were not to be trusted, especially kalona males such as this one. Her white eyes skimmed over the male and she suddenly noticed his lack of a spaded tail. Was he too only part kalona? Even her son appeared to be more a kalona than this stallion. Her wings spread then fluttered slightly before tucking at her sides again. "Why would a creature such as yourself care if I were lost or not?" She snapped suddenly to the stallion as she flicked her ears back towards her skull. This male would earn no trust from her, that was the cold, hard truth.

Nu'man laughed softly, his smirk deepening. He took the chance of taking a few steps closer to the mare. "Is there a reason I shouldn't be concerned about your status, lovely?" The Stallion looked over her again, admiring what he saw. Such a beautiful, lovely creature even with her Unicorn blood. Such a travesty could be shrugged off for now.
It had been a long time since he'd encountered one even slightly like himself. The last horse he'd seen had been his student, Set. For a Winged One the Stallion was more like a Kalona. He'd left him behind when his patience for the lesser had run thin, and had wandered since.

Morana's eyes locked on the stallion with an almost insane appearing glow in them. She stamped a hoof as she noticed his two steps towards her and she shook her head slowly, her long mane falling in a mess along her neck. "Shouldn't you be more concerned about yourself?" She didn't trust this stallion, not in the slightest. He seemed off, though not quite like herself.
She shifted in her stance and suddenly the mare began to shuffle her hooves. Her eyes darted around the forest. Slowly, she began to hum a little tune that seemed almost foal like. The humming grew louder as her tail swayed at its own rhythm, not matching with what she was humming. One could call this mare weird, she preferred to be called different.

"Myself?" The bloodied Kalona chuckled. "This is my home, my love."
The insanity that passed through her eyes, the way she moved and what she hummed. She was barely there... a side effect of Kalona and Uni merging, he was quite sure. He wanted to go closer and inspect her from nose to tail tip, but who knows what she would do to him. On second thought, he might like what she did to him.

She wanted to rip his throat out for calling her such a name, but she refused to seem anything other than calm. One ear twitched back then forward towards the male again as she lifted a brow. Slowly, she shook her head as she tried to regain her focus on this stallion.
Morana cleared her throat as she stamped a hoof. "Hm. I find it odd that we have never had a run in with one another before, considering this is where I usually am found wandering about." Her pure white eyes now focused on the male in front of her.
