"Jack, Jack, Jacking tides!" Merope cursed as he ran into the school, scattering the snow and slush that had accumulated on him during his dash from the undead dorms to the main building. His damp clothes flapped against his skin, shirt ripped and torn in several places. It seemed as if he had stuck light blue frightlights on his shirt that winked on and off with each movement, the holes in the shirt revealing just enough of his skin and markings to cast the illusion.
The boil's gaze whipped left and right before he ducked down a twist in the hallway, arms pumping as he strove to run as fast as he count. "Hey!" He called out, "Move! Move! Mo- Thanks!" He shoved his way quickly past any who lingered in the hallway, talons rapping and clattering on Amityville's tile floor.
From the direction Merope came from, there was a silence. Then came the rapid skittering of something hot on the undead boil's heels.

Being inside of the theater had been too much; it was claustrophobic in their, tight and crammed full of too many people, too many voices, too much going on at once. Sparrow hadn't been able to do very much in the confines of the room, resigned to his fate, and had instead slipped out when there was the opportune moment, his face pale and drawn.
Where had that thing come from, anyway? He had not ever seen the notorious "Rat King" before, and was now utterly confused. A few overheard comments indicated something about Christmas and something called a "Jingleberry," but other than that, nothing - and Sparrow had no idea what exactly that meant, anyway.
Outside in the halls, most of the students had scattered, running this way and that. The air smelled of snow and cold, and the cool air felt good. Sparrow leaned back against the nearest wall, closing his eyes and breathing in slowly. The black shadow scythe was still held in his hand.
There was a pounding of footsteps. Opening his eyes, Sparrow stepped away and peered down the hall, his gaze narrowing a little -
- just at the wrong moment, since something blue and glowing rounded the corner and ran smack dab into him.
"Ouch!"
There was a clatter as the scythe went flying, spinning out across the hall. Sparrow staggered, trying to figure out who the culprit was -
- only to hear the sound of...something else. Sparrow frowned.
"What the..."

(( Entering from Team Awesome RP)) That quick stop back at her dorm room for a change of clothes had been good…but what she happened to acquire while she was there, wasn’t good. Hel look disgruntled as she stared at the two foxfires hanging from her sleeves as she marched through the snow. Really guys, really? She told them it’d be safer and best for them to just stay at the reaper dorms, with all this snow, cold weather…and JOY…things…running around…but no. No, the little fuzz brains gave her looks with those beady little eyes and then when she tried to lock them in her room they latched onto her sleeves. Whatever FooFoo and Vili. Whatever. May your little paddies get cold and don’t say Hel didn’t try to warn you. The valkyrie sighed, and seemed to take a bit of a detour on her way to the infirmary to meet up with everyone. She found herself inside the main school building, noting the few students who were milling around, but what really caught her attention was the sudden shadow scythe that slide across the hall and near her feet. Hel blinked, looking down at it. Oh, hey! That looked eerily familiar! She bent and picked up the weapon, looking around for its owner and grinned once she caught sight of Sparrow. “ Ah! How good to see a familiar face!” The reaper crossed the hall to stand beside the grim, holding out the scythe. Sure, he could have simply re-summoned it, but Hel thought it’d be rude to just leave it on the ground. “ Do you have any idea about what is going on, friend?” She paused though, as she picked up on a sound too. "... Uh..." The ghoul tilted her head, looking to where the sound was coming from as well.

WHAM!
Merope stumbled backwards, fins flailing before he up and tripped over his own tail backwards and landed in a heap on the floor. "Ow," he groaned, sitting up and rubbing his face. "What -"
He broke off as something slammed into his back, nearly knocking him over. It was a loud, yowling thing. To any observers, it looked as if an out-of-season red bush had attached itself to the undead boil's back and was currently clawing its way up his back, both its voice and leaves hissing as it shook.
"Ow, ow, OW!" Merope flinched and twisted as the bush-shape continued to move on and around him, using its claws to its best advantage. "Ow! Ow! Hey! A little help?!" He begged, looking up at the two reapers while he tried to unsuccessfully grab a hold of his dissatisfied minipet.

It seemed like they’d get an answer to their curiosity soon enough!
Hel looked alarmed as Merope was trailed by an overgrown red bush, and her mind couldn’t help but associate it with…JOY…things…Poor Merope! He did need help right now. The ghoul snapped her gaze back at Sparrow, “Sorry, friend!” She then placed his shadow scythe against the wall near him, and spun on her heel, lunging over to the undead boil’s direction. It was tempting to summon her weapon to lance the…thing…but she couldn’t risk harming the boil either.
Thus the reaper hovered over the bush like creature, and snapped her hands out, trying to grab it and pull it off of the undead boil. The foxfires on her sleeves just hung on for the ride, their tails wagging.

[ SORRY I WAS TRAVELING / ON A PLANE ALL DAY YESTERDAY OTL ]
With a muffled oath, Sparrow pushed himself up into a sitting position, trying to figure out what exactly he had run into.
...or rather, who, since the thing sitting across from him was most definitely a boil; an unfamiliar one at that, and apparently attempting to pry something small and red off of him.
...something small and red and looking suspiciously like a bush.
Sparrow stared. Then realized someone else was talking to him, and glanced upwards, an expression of recognition dawning on his face.
"Hel," he said in relief, confusion flickering as his eyes landed on the two foxfires on her sleeves - but their reunion was short lived, considering that the valkyrie had stepped over to the undead student and was now attempting to pry whatever the bush was off of his back. Sparrow lurched to his feet and darted over to help, his hands gripping the...whatever it was, and yanking hard.
"What - the Jack - " he muttered, through clenched teeth, eying both Hel and the other boil.

The act of removing his minipet from him resulted in a long strip of fabric being torn from his shirt roughly an inch wide. Merope glanced at his shoulder and winced, reaching up towards the squirming mini in their hands to carefully unhook the strip of fabric and roll it up, tucking it into his pants pocket. The mini had taken some skin too -- he'd need to patch himself up later. "Thank you," He said, standing up and taking a firm grasp on the minipet.
"The stupid thing followed me outside of my dorm room. It... really doesn't like the snow." Merope frowned down at the minipet. The grey cat-face glared back at him, limbs retracting into the red bush that made up its body much like a turtle.
And then the cat-bush minipet caught sight of the foxfires on Hel's sleeves. It hissed and began to thrash again, paws snaking out in an attempt to hook Merope's shirt again. Merope stepped back and held his arms out at length, keeping the minipet at bay while he wore a long suffering expression. "No. Calm down. Just -- son of a Jack!" He lashed his tail, grimacing. "Either of you know where I can find a box to shove this guy in? Or a minipet closet nearby I can throw him into?"

Hel winced, not only seeing the bush mini-pet tear into Merope’s shirt, but a bit of his flesh as well. “…Uh…you’re welcome!” She replied, and gave a firm nod of her head in understanding about the snow. She wasn’t sure what FooFoo and Vili’s deal was…they seemed fine enough…actually they even seemed to be trolling Merope’s mini too! From their spots on her sleeves, they could be heard making muffled yips, and seemed to be filled with glee at setting off the bush mini once more. “Ugh…” Hel shook her sleeves to get them to knock it off. “…A mini-closet?” That was such a great idea! Before Hel could start looking though, she stilled, and her brows furrowed.
“…Hey…” She looked back at the two boils standing near her. “…That music….it stopped.” It had become something of a background noise when she had entered the school building…but now it was silent, eerily so! The only sounds were the bush mini and the foxfires. “Do any of you two have any idea what is going on? There is a barrier around the school as well…” She shook her sleeves again to quiet the fox fires, and made another disgruntled face.

Sparrow decided it was time to intervene before the bush like creature decided to have itself a couple of fluffy snacks. Quickly he slipped in between the boil and Hel, flashing both of them a hasty smile.
"Er, at any rate - " he said, pushing his bangs away from his eyes so that he could actually see the both of them. "I'm sure there's a place where you can store...that. I'm Sparrow, by the way, and this is Hel."
His voice echoed oddly loud in the hallway, which made Sparrow frown, his brows contracting together in slight confusion. He wasn't entirely certain why everything felt suddenly strange, but it was as though something was muffled...
Hel's voice broke into his thoughts, and it abruptly made sense.
No music.
"I'm...not sure," said Sparrow slowly, lowering his arms carefully, while still giving the bush creature a suspicious look. He glanced down the hallway, trying to see if there was anyone around other than themselves. "I...was in the school play and then there was this...rat king thing...and then I ran out to find help, but..."
The fact that there was no music somehow made Sparrow even more on edge than having music.
"I don't like this," he said tightly. "It's weird. And what's with the snow? I've never seen anything like this before..."

Merope tightened his grip on the bush mini, his hands disappearing into the thick leaves as he grasped its body and held it tight. His arms shook as they dipped up and down, moving with the minipet's movements in a sort of twisted dance as he struggled against the minipet. He threw a grateful nod to Sparrow as the reaper moved between himself and the winged girl, maneuvering the cat-bush creeper pet so that its view was blocked. Finally it settled down enough to retreat into the bush, but the undead boil wasn't keen on letting go just yet.
At Hel's observation, Merope looked at her quizzically. "Huh, you're right," he added unhelpfully, one tattered ear-fin flaring up and spreading as wide as it could in mockery of a perked ear. Something jingled in the back of his brain. There was something about the snow that seemed familiar somehow. He narrowed his eye to think.
Sensing a lapse in his concentration, the bush minipet flailed and struggled again, this time succeeding in breaking free of his grasp. It hit the floor, then proceeded to use Merope as a ladder to climb up him and perch on his hat, puffing up and hissing at the foxfires.
"No! Off! OFF!" Merope ordered uselessly, flailing about. He reached up and grabbed it, the minipet's claws catching onto and holding his hat. Merope glowered at it, then tucked the still hissing minipet under his arm. "Ugh, sorry. I'm Merope, and this fella has been a thorn in my side ever since I took that one class from Professor Malcolm. It's good to meet you both."
At Sparrow's comments, Merope looked at him curiously. "You haven't seen this stuff before? It's... familiar." Merope shifted his grip on his minipet, squeezing with one arm to ensure that it would stay put while he used his other hand to smooth out his hat-hair. "It all seems a bit familiar to me. Not the barrier or rat-thing," he added quickly. "But the snow. I think we had a fieldtrip to somewhere snowy...?"
Merope shook his head after a moment. "I don't remember much of it. Maybe we should check out either the barrier or this... rat and try to figure out what's going on?"

((OOC: Sorry for the long a** post guys…I couldn’t stop myself OTL)) Hel raised her sleeves as the foxfires just happened to agitate poor Merope’s bush minipet further, by their muffled yips, and glared at them. “ That is enough you two!” She hissed. “ I will find a closet to stuff you both in!” FooFoo and Vili didn’t seem to take her seriously though, and their tails just wagged. The reaper startled though, as through some tricky maneuvers, both foxfires suddenly crawled into her sleeves. Hel was then doing a bit of her own dance like Merope, as FooFoo poke his head out from the collar of her tunics, yipped, and then dove right underneath her hat. His little face blended in with the fur trimming as he peered out with those beady little eyes. Vili? His head poked out from the collar of her tunics, before it ducked back down, where he stayed, nestled and warm. The reaper huffed. They were out of sight for the most part now though…maybe that’d help Merope out. She dug through her apron pocket as she received a text a though, searching for her phone. Quote: Text from Mot: Hel, where are you? Are you okay? Hel’s brows furrowed as she responded. Quote: Text from Hel: I'm fine! In the school. Where are you? She looked up as Sparrow introduced her. “ It is a pleasure, Merope! I’d shake your hand…but maybe not right now, eh?” She jabbed a thumb at the quarreling mini-pets. The valkyrie listened to their words, giving a thoughtful hum. “ Ah yes…I was in the theatre too, when the Rat King attacked…it fell though…and then I left…some students and I met up outside the theatre and had made plans to meet up at the infirmary to see if we could gather supplies or anymore information but…ah, I got side tracked here.” She tilted her head at Merope, her brows furrowing. “… Christmastown?” She offered after a moment. “ I haven’t been there…but…I have heard a lot about it from other students! It was a past field trip, yes? I heard there were a lot of trains and battling!” Hel paused, and then made a frustrated sound. “ The music is back!” She glanced down the hall way as well. “… It sounds…different than before…more intense…” Her phone went off again, and she checked it. Quote: Text from Mot: figtn robot ttyl “… Fighting robot…T-T-Y-L!?” Hel was agitated now. “ He’s fighting a robot!? What does T-T-Y-L mean!?” The reaper scowled and text back. Drifter Jet Enduro Text from Hel: You’re fighting a robot? WHERE ARE YOU? “ I do agree with you, Merope.” Hel replied after she sent that text. “… Standing here won’t help us figure anything out…and at least if we went outside, we’d be able to aid our fellow students, yes?”

Cleite, the feathered serpent, walked around the barrier covered school. Her dark auburn eyes moved around as her long, feathered, wings twitched lightly from the cold. Her short, pixie cute, white hair moved with every step. Click, scrap, click, scrap. The sound of her claws made against the hard flooring, as well as the rings on her long, serpent, tail. She heard the music stop for a short while, only to be replaced by voices of boils and a ghoul. " What in Jack's name?" Hissing lightly as she moved closer to see Sparrow, Hel, and Merope clear enough for her to put her back against the wall as if she was hiding from them.
"Who are they?" Speaking quietly to herself as her tail stuck out from the corner of her 'hiding place'. It twitched and swished, making the feathers on the end hit against Merope's tail. Cleite was too nervous to even noticed that she was giving away her hiding place from their gaze.

Sparrow's scythe was still leaning against the far wall, and Sparrow leaned over to retrieve it, the weapon dissipating in a gust of black smoke, melting into the palm of his hand. He didn't know whether or not it was wise to not have his most prized possession at hand, in case something happened, but for now it seemed they were safe.
...for now.
It was a rather dismal thought.
"Nice to meet you, Merope," said Sparrow, nodding. "And no, I...I haven't, I'm afraid. I've been at the school for a while now, but I transferred in before then. I mean, I've heard rumours of things like this, about some sort of field trip a few years ago, but I never paid much attention to it..."
He gestured towards Hel, indicating that he'd heard what she had, but hadn't really done anything to learn more.
Now he wished he had.
It took him a moment to realize that the valkyrie was right; the music was back, and it did not sound pleasant in the slightest. There was a small twittering sound, and a tiny, golden bird popped its head out of the collar of Sparrow's shirt. Dihi had remained silent for most of the time, but now it climbed onto his shoulder and perched there, eying the other minis suspiciously.
"...a robot?" muttered Sparrow, brows drawing together in confusion. "Who's fighting a robot? And, er, I think 'ttyl' means something along the lines of talking to you later or something; I'm afraid I don't really remember the lingo. And both of you are right," he added, lifting a hand to absently stroke his shriebird. "Let's go check out this barrier."
There were more footsteps coming towards them, and for a split second, Sparrow tensed, his fingers clenching and waiting to summon his scythe, but the ghoul that appeared from around the corner was not one of the creatures that had been infiltrating the school.
"Hello there," called out Sparrow, lifting a hand in greeting, though it was a slightly wary one.

Cleite listened to the reapers and undead boil as her headdress made little rain-like sounds as she moved to see them better. Her long tail moved away from Merope's ankle back to her side. She moved her head away, pressing her back against the wall when she heard Sparrow speak to her. She rolled her eyes as she knew that the other two would know that she was there as well. She gave a soft sigh then slowly emerged out from the corner way of the hallway for the three to be able to see her. She gave a little nervous wave and a light toothy smile. " 'Allo... Do you think you could tell me what in Jack's name is going on?" She asked, looking from Sparrow, to Hel, and Merope last.
Looking away from the three, Cleite darted off back down the hall way.

Hel was feeling rather irritated with all this…JOY-business, and now the fact that apparently Mot was fighting a giant robot and would talk to her later. Oh Jack no. A bit of a reprieve came in the form of the small golden bird that popped out of Sparrow’s collar though, and for a moment, a small smile came to Hel’s lips. She had a soft spot for birds, and that one was rather lovely! Her scowled returned when questioned. “ Ah…Mot, apparently!” Her brows furrowed, and she turned her head to regard the appearance of another, who asked them a question, and then ran off. Uh…alright then! The valkyrie didn’t have time to ponder that for too long though, as her phone went off again. Quote: Text from Mot: Fight over. Hurt, but okay. Will Live. Now she was antsy. Hel shifted her weight from foot to foot, and then pocketed her phone, staring up at her company a bit wide eyed. “ I must go.” She announced. “ I have to find him! You two take care, you hear me? I wish you both well, and hope to see you in one piece after this is all over!” She gave a quick wave, and then spun on her feel and ran out the door, taking into the air soon after. (( Exiting!))
