Far outside of the festival grounds is an area that used to be the royal arboretum. Lanterns still float through the air, lighting the area with their brilliant Chakra-fueled light. Several water pitcher plants that look like tree stumps have taken root and thrive on the insects of the area. Butterflies have made the trees their home. Extra points to those who do not harm anything but their opponents.

Her head felt exponentially better now, thanks to Notcis. Jae's gaze fell to the ground, her cheeks growing hotter as she recalled his cool hand on her head when she had bravely and foolishly leaned her head on his shoulder. Jae was being stupid and she knew it. Heading down that painful road was only going end like just that. A bunch of pain and strife. She wasn't willing to deal with one sided affections. She would much rather just repay him the debts she owed to him and cut off all ties. This place seemed to relax Jae some as she wandered around, looking for her opponents. The bandages on her arms were meant to hide the burns that had not yet fully healed yet. Unfortunately too much healing was bad for someone and the medics had told her that this was going to have to heal the natural way. "Hmm..." Jae mused reaching up in an attempt to touch one of the floating lanterns. This place was straight out of a fairy tale. It was almost a shame to consider messing this place up.

Still a tad sore, both mentally and somewhat physically from his rather stellar loss, Masashi entered the proposed battleground with no small amount of trepidation. He spotted his opponent, some woman he didn't know, and felt the proverbial butterflies, and an ache where a wonderful healer had closed the gaping cut in his calf. Confidence, I had it. Or was it just ego? Perhaps that was pride, messing with me. Either way, I'm in the losers bracket, but it's still a bracket. Might as well make something of it. He wanted to remark on how unfair it was, that they had to tear asunder such a wonderful garden, on how he wished his opponents luck, but he didn't have the ego for it anymore. He could be a gentleman when the fight was over, but not during. That was foolish, and wasn't the only thing that had cost him a victory during the last match.
In short, it was on.
"Masashi." A rather curt introduction, if it could be called that, but he wasn't in the mood to play nice. Not when he could be the best of the losers, or possibly have a shot at the big winner after all this. Not when he had such a lofty goal to strive for, or his villages reputation on the line. If Kodoki can do it, fine, but I'm not going to bow out just because of that. Really hope she can't hold a grudge. With that, Masashi went into running through handseals. applying far more chakra than was supposedly necessary for the techniques he had in mind. He blamed it on the pretty lanterns, but he'd spent enough time complaining. He formed the last seal and, all around him, even under him, a gigantic, fetid, brackish swamp replaced the serene garden. Replaced, not destroyed. It'll be back, and that bonus will be mine. He removed the little pocket of land because, well, he didn't want to deal with someone using it against him.
So he dove into the swamp, and with a little chakra, swam through the earth below it. He wasn't going to make the same mistake, not playing to his strengths. Jutsu, keep away, and with a little luck, a few explosions and a smashing victory, ran the mental checklist of things-to-do-in-the-fight. I just hope Kodoki doesn't get permanently injured. It'd shame me to cripple a shinobi from my own village. I just hope she really, really feels the same way about this as I do.

She looked around the new irregular surroundings, being the latest one of them all and thought out loud; "Did I come into the wrong place? Oo-oops.." Her head frantically geared in all directions analyzing the swamp than the expected glow-glow garden. Immediately, her brows weighed over her temples with wariness. The setting could have changed..Oh, shoot. That's really clever. Somewhere in her range of view as she tried to tread carefull on the tricky landscape, Doki spotted one of her opponents, the pink haired lady, Jae Ke- Jae. No, no. This has to be it..If Jae's here..what about the other guy? And incidentally, she was also fighting against someone from her own village, Masashi. She didn't know him but that was just as well for this sort of situation. She just hoped he would understand since she considered him to be the more senior jounin, more openly by age anyway. So, he should be here, right? Knowing that the girl herself had an affinity for tardiness, Masashi was just not yet seen.
For now, Doki lowered her expectations assuming that these two may have seen her failure back at the Giant's grip. The green haired girl dipped her head a bit to Jae, and frankly presented a small smile. "Um..yeah, I don't really know but, Good luck." And with that, Doki leaped over one of the taller tree's and began her quick ascension until stopped above a branch. The view was great but it wouldn't last forever.

Jae turned her body to face the source, Masashi was this boys name. With her guard up, she clenched her mouth shut, the muscles that ran along her jaw tensed as she stared at him. Introductions were a formality, they weren't needed and she would not oblige this round. It wasn't like she would meet these people again and if she did she would probably not want to see them again anyway. Rude. Yes, Jae was rude but it wasn't like she had anything to prove to these people. Her village, Konoha, that was the only place she felt she needed to prove her worth. The girl that appeared on the scene wished her good luck, the corner of Jae's mouth curving up, a smirk. If luck was all that was needed then it wasn't going to take much to win. Masashi wasted no time in executing the first attack, for which Jae was slightly grateful. It made it less awkward and it pushed things along. She would have done it had he not. There was only so much time they had to 'frolic' here and she had to make the most of it to redeem herself for her earlier loss, a loss that still did not sit well with her.
The ground area around them began to change abruptly, a murky, chunky sort of liquid now dominating the field. A swamp? He had altered the playing field to a swamp? Jae tried to pull herself from it but was stuck. It took all of her efforts just to keep from getting pulled under even more. As Masashi dove into the filth Jae understood exactly what this was. Immobilize the enemy and attack while they couldn't really resist. Jae's hands were free and that was all she needed for now. She summoned two clones, each appearing to the side of her, now stuck in the swamp too. "Ladies..." They nodded in unison and Jae reached to their shoulders and used them as leverage to get herself unstuck from the murk and to give herself some sort of footing to push off of. Finally getting one foot on her clones shoulder she pushed herself up. Using her double jump she aimed for a tree, the way that the girl Kodoki had. Jae slipped a little, not used to having to apply more chakra to such an effortless technique but regained herself before falling off and back into the swamp ground. Her clones disappeared in a cloud of smoke, their purpose having been served.
Jae climbed up higher into the trees, not wanting to be surprised by anything that Masashi might throw up at her. Reaching a branch that could support her weight, she leveled out on it, immediately going through her own hand signals. Even the tinniest forewarning would give her the edge she needed and she had learned this technique in order to execute it during battle. It was going to cost her but that was alright. She could live with that. Completing the hand signal circuit she activated her chakra. Immediately the air around her changed, the currents of the wind flowing through her now and giving her a sort of 'sixth sense'. She could practically feel everything around her to some odd depth and this type of sensing could be used to dodge at the last minuet. Jae looked over at the girl across the clearing. Jae could attack her now, there wasn't anything stopping her from doing so. This three way fight deal was slightly absurd but Jae could not let her guilt override the need to win.
Activating her bloodline Jutsu Jae held out her arm, small blood drops grouping together in her palm and growing in size until they were slightly bigger than BB pelt. They floated into the air, multiplying at a rapid rate. These 'blood drops' were flattened out and razor sharp around the whole spherical area around them. When about three dozen and half of these had formed Jae aimed at the girl and shot them in her direction. Her Fuuton element helped to propel them quickly over at the girl. The little blood drops immediately flew at her in a frenzy. They aimed for any part of her that was vulnerable and even then they could easily slice through normal cloth. This technique was not meant for overpowering an enemy but it was meant to harry them. If she lost her concentration and slipped into the swamp underneath them she was more than happy to create an opportunity for anyone.

Jae made it easy for fitting her role as the enemy. Still, Doki held a glimmer of hope and kept thinking that maybe even enemies can respect each other to a degree. Just as she noticed her rival shift in her position, Doki anchored her heels in readiness. Or not.. Thought Doki now while with her body sidled awkwardly a meter above and behind the branch from where she had leaped from.
About six or seven shallow cuts surfaced over the left side of her body after she did her best to evade them. Luckily, most of them weren't direct hits. And if it weren't for the clone Doki managed to bring out in the short span of time to take the brunt of it (giving her the availability to fix her position behind the bark) Doki really would have died falling. Thank goodness she endured the pain while clinging to the tree to the point where her chakra coated feet were making deep impressions on the body of the tree. The quick disappearance of her clone though, gave her a little trailer of that girl's inborn capabilities. Shivering in the aftermath, Doki brought on another mental study. B-blood...She used blood.. Her expression was stymied by the actions of that mean girl but that didn't mean her will would drown.
"....Yeesh." With one hand clutching over a relatively bumpy stump, Doki in the other, took out a kunai. From it's handle, was an explosive note rolled over it. A split second after, she threw it across Jae's direction. Doki on the other hand, continued to ascend her way up. She had about five meters left to climb until reaching the top and her legs were bolstering fairly well with each leap. The soreness would be the troubling factor as it may hinder her later. Sooo not the scheming type.

Under the vast, brackish sea of swampy water, Masashi was like a really tall fish. Compared to the two people he was fighting, anyways. And to fish.
Okay, no idea what's going on up there, but it's time to get with the program and go on the offense. Maybe win all of this in one shot and go back with at least one win under my belt. And I get to tell a story that I beat two people at once. Look at me, pumping my ego up all over again. Might as well just surrender, if I'm not going to do much other than boast to myself. So Masashi decided to do a lot more than make a few empty boasts. He decided to go on the mega-offensive, and commence with the winning. And commencing with the winning would be, well, a lot harder than he made it out to be.
Just as he had planned. Or foresaw. Either way, it was going according to something
Masashi fed a bit of clay to his hand, not a lot of clay, and none of it explosive [sadly] but it was enough for a simple clone. A clone he made, after some handseals and chakra, after emerging from the ground below the fetid swamp. Almost deliberately copying Jae, by complete accident, Masashi hoisted himself upon his clones shoulders and began going through another series of hand seals. A different set, a much longer set, of hand seals. These handseals ended not with a creation of a clone, but with several large, deadly fireballs.
Several being a lot.
Enough so that he was able to send one each at both Jae and Kodoki, the two being as far away from the mad bomber as he found comfortable, and a few around them in case they got any idea. For good measure... He sent a fireball at the trees. Not just the trees the two women used to support themselves, but the trees all around. No more support, and they'd be stuck in the swamp to be picked off at hi leisure. No bonus for me, I'm guessing. Not that he really wanted a bonus at this point. No, he wanted a win, and he wouldn't deal with anything less than a win. So defeat, obviously, was off the table, as was a friendly draw.
Essentially, everything other than complete victory was, well, not going to satisfy the win-hungry Jounin. Hopefully the fireballs will give them the hint, and if not, the flaming trees just might. Masashi hopped off of his rather useless clone, and dove back into the brackish swamp, again using more justus to swim like a big fish.
A really big fish.
Incidentally, his clone did nothing more than try to throw things everywhere. Kunai, shuriken, nasty water, any projectile, really. It wasn't made for intelligence, just... Well, whatever it was doing. Which happened to be throwing things at people already having to deal with gigantic fireballs of doom and burning trees.

Jae's reactions were quicker now that she had activated her currents. As the clone was overcome by the barrage of BB's Jae mildly chastised herself for letting Doki get away so easily. She should have been a little more aggressive. Doki was retreating upward now, her tossed Kunai tagged with what Jae suspected was an explosive tag. Using the last of her own tagged Kunai's Jae flung it to intercept the one that had initially been thrown by Doki. Jae followed suit, running up the tree to catch up to Doki's level. Having the high ground was the most important thing right now, that and staying out of that god forsaken swampy muck. Before she could even reach Doki's level Masashi erupted from below, mirroring her movement from earlier. Tch... He sent a fiery inferno at them, Jae wasting no time in abandoning her tree for another by jumping and latching onto the branch of another tree. She was mortified to find out that he was a Katon user. Although she had tried to overcome her fear of fire she had not officially succeeded and her wide eyed expression said it all. She dangled from the branch she had barely caught , letting out a small curse as she observed that that had not been the only fireball launched in her direction. Her limbs were locked, the fear washing over her. She knew she had to move but her body wasn't responding. Closing her eyes slightly as she expected the worst possible outcome, getting hit, her senses prickled, warning her before she even felt the heat. Jae looked away and jumped to the next tree, avoiding a direct blast from the fire. She got singed slightly but had successfully escaped to another tree, one that had been set fire to already. The tree began to tip, the fire having already begun to eat away at the middle section of the tree. She had to keep the trees from burning completely. If they were reduced to ash there would be no support for her to stand on and they would be stuck in the gunk on the ground. Going through a comlex chain of jutsu with one hand, she activated her jutsu upon it's completion. Grand Waterfall! An incredible amount of water gathered from every source available, the mud in the swamp providing her with what she needed as well. As the thick stream collected around her she lashed it out at the remaining fireballs, protecting some of the trees that had yet fallen victim to his explosive attack. The tree she was on was put out, not saved from tipping over though. It toppled to the ground, Jae riding it until it almost hit the swampy murk before jumping off, using her double jump and grabbing onto a low branch nearby. She didn't want to waste chakra standing on the darned trees. She pulled herself up and onto the branch, looking down as the tree's body began to sink into the swamp a little. It was too large to get sucked in completely.
As if that ordeal was not bad enough, a clone of Masashi, or what she assumed was a clone, was going through a frenzied spree of flinging s**t everywhere. The current still aided Jae in reacting at the last second, a kunai darting by her cheek, the pink haired Kunoichi tilting her head to the right in the nick of time to avoid it. A senseless clone was not something she was worried about. In fact, Jae produced a Kunai of her own and launched it at the clone, aiming for a blind spot.
Jae was panting now, her fear of fire having unnerved her completely. Her hands trembled as she squatted and looked to the ground. Doki was going to have to wait. Masashi was a bigger threat to them both at the moment and if she let her guard down she might not get away so easily the next time. Jae had to lure Masashi out from his safe zone. That was the only way to get him in her trap. She was going to have to ride this one out and see if the man would wear himself out or present an 'open throat' for her to react. She had enough chakra to utilize her combination and it was going to be used on Doki or Masashi. At the moment Jae had more of a mind to use it on him.

Today's forecast reads... Hell, in the form of raging blasts of angry fire. It happened shortly after her tagged kunai was intercepted, giving her the better chance to make it to the top. Unfortunately, the flames continued to lick it's way all over the dry bark. She prepared for a body substitution jutsu if this were the case and then a following body flicker technique to transfer her a good mile sight away. Fortunately, before completing the signs, water had drenched out most of the fireballs. Yes! A suiton user! She even thought of swimming in the water but of course it was another domain made by her opponent, Jae. Positioning her body before a Leap, Doki accumulated chakra to her feet. She created a clone where it would pull back the very top tip of the tree along with it's branch intertwined beneath the original's leg, awaiting further instructions. But as time in crisis hours would wane, the clone had already lashed on the back from the oncoming fire. Nothing to hold onto the branch as Doki did not quite get into the correct maneuvering position.
It did however, send her a great length away but her lack of premeditated balance made her swerve to her immediate left. Any second now if Doki didn't act, her body would sink and break in that body of water surrounding Jae. There was a way to get rid of it mostly, but it was a dire necessity at this point. I guess it would be dumb to think it would drown him from under.. Haha. Oh! Shoot! Almost forgetting that her death was about to come, Doki quickly made a set of handseals which then produced another clone in mid air. Sternly grabbing Doki beneath her forearms, the clone quickly acted as an achor to lever Doki steeper in height. Assuming that her hiding position was secure, she then initiated the transformation jutsu and cloaked her appearance to match the darkly disfigured form of the cross sectioned trunk.

He still had no idea what was going on up top. Not that he cared, right now he was the coolest of men-fish.
Oh wait, I'm a shinobi. I need air. And to win this, so time to run topside and start throwing jutsu around again. Running low-ish on chakra though, or it feels like it anyway, so I gotta start being a little more tactical in my jutsu application. He thought, feeding a bit of clay into his chakra mouths. It paid to be prepared, after all, and he had an idea in mind.
Masashi turned upwards and once again used his clone as a surfboard, the clone face-down in the swamp after catching a kunai to the neck. How rude. He was just a distraction, never hurting anybody. Masashi forgot all about the clone, of course, when he spotted Jae. She looked a little rattled, something he made note of if the match took any longer. Maybe she doesn't like fire?] He noticed that the fires were, indeed, drenched. Or some of them, anyway. Used water to drench the fires, but can't stop that muck. Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors, at it's finest. Doki was no where in sight, which got him slightly wary, but until she leaned to walk on swamp or something he had nothing to worry about. Other than anything she could throw at him, but he felt safe that she couldn't beat his face into the back of his skull for now.
So he focused on Jae.
His chakra mouths regurgitated [gross] two small, basketball-sized bombs. They're technically mines, but no one ever said I couldn't throw them. Which is what he did, aiming just under Jae instead of the center-mass. She'd probably dodge it that way and with me being a master of deception, my limp-wristed throws look like I'm missing. But I'm aiming for the area between her feet. Hope she doesn't decide to move at that time. He held the other bomb under his arm and made for a tree, jumping of course, his free hand gripping a vibrant branch. Huh. Guess I missed a tree
Maybe he'd get that bonus after all.

"That's enough," a man's voice called over the area, "Masashi gets 1 point, Kodoki gets 2, and Jae gets 3. Please return to the waiting room quickly."
As the last words rang out over the area, all Jutsu deactivated and dispersed. Medics arrived and were prepared to heal anyone who needed it, but did not seem too worried about the goings-on.

From the call to end of their tri-match, Doki peeked out of her camouflage sheet. At first she assumed the proctor man down there along with the medics to be a well layered illusion. But her prior exhaustion and cuts were straining her will to continue. But then, everything canceled out. Quickly to avoid losing her balance in high air, Doki carefully plotted her way down. Turns out it really was over.
Her eyes rolled back in relief and heavily exhaled. But on her liberty, she respectfully refused the help of the medics. Already losing disgracefully, once, she thought it was better to lick her own wounds herself. Before she left, a tingling sense of guilt flickered to her mind. Doki was a bit implacable towards Jae, for now anyway but she did learn a lot from her reactions. Perhaps, Doki just wasn't serious enough to properly face a worthy opponent. Her and Masashi both. She lowered her head respectfully, then rose to send a thumbs up to her fellow villager before finally leaving.
