Theluji was still flinching for the encounter with the big scary fluffy a while ago. She'd barely been able to escape without becoming his slave or anything worse than that. Thank the spirits that they were with her. Obviously, they wanted her to be able to return to the swamps whenever she found her adult name. Which she hoped was right around the corner, because being out here with all this scary males was starting to get to her.
First, Theluji is more lonely than she'd ever been, without the constant live of bugs and things surrounding her and without the pride all around her. Event the spirits aren't around as apparent as they were in the swamps. And that's part of the reason she was so happy that Shabnam had been so friendly and even became her friend. Shabnam had taught her to hunt outside the swamps in the big open spaces, and Theluji was generally improving her skill in that arena. But she couldn't stay with her new friend and find her name at the same time, so they'd parted. And then the loneliness had set in again.
Which is probably why, despite being around a big fluffy male lion, she'd not run screaming in the other direction the moment he'd revealed himself. She should have, and now she knew fluffy males were untrustworthy. Especially the big and very fluffy males.
Theluji needed to find a very safe place to rest. She didn't think the lion was following her anymore, but Shabnam would be so upset with her if she knew that Theluji had chosen a resting spot that wasn't safe and ill-protected.

Laying low, Ima did his best impression of staying out of sight. Only a few feet in front of him stood a small gazelle that would keep him full for the rest of the day if only he could catch it. He had admittedly gotten better at hunting smaller prey, better enough for him to be able to eat most days anyway.
Ima hadn't had much practice hunting the larger prey as he'd been too apprehensive initially to try. However, there seemed to be a shortage of hares and he was on the brink of death. Crouching in the tall grass, he tried to think of the best way to go about catching the creature.
'Well, here goes nothing,' Ima thinks to himself before springing out of the grass towards the unsuspecting animal. Initially, he is excited when his right paw brushes against the gazelle's hide. The feeling is instantly crushed as he is swiftly bashed in the face by a well placed hoof.
Ima lay on the ground groaning his defeat. "Owwwww," he whines pitifully while rubbing his face with a paw. Today did not seem to be his day. Thinking back, maybe he should have staying in bed today. When he finally opened his eyes, he immediately spotted an unknown lioness some distance away.
Attempting to forget his current agony, he stands to his feets and calls, "Hello!"

Theluji hadn't noticed the younger less fluffy male until he'd shouted out to her. And then she felt like cursing. She was getting any better at being aware of her surrounds then the first days she'd left the swamps to find her adult name. Now after that attack from that other fluffy male, she was still not paying attention. Theluji could bash her own head against a large boulder. She really needed to start paying attention. Now.
As it was, the male had already spotted her and she had to make a quick decision. Which way to run? He was still some distance away, so it was possibly, maybe even probably for Theluji to out run him. If it wasn't so flat and treeless or mudless, it was possible. Theluji started to stir around the young male. "Hi." She gave the greeting, short and clipped. Maybe that would help keep evil intended males away from her.

Still attempting to mentally ward off the pain of his failure, he gradually made his way over to the lioness. Having not been in the roguelands for very long, he still greeted those he met plesantly as he would at home.
It didn't help that he'd been more alone since he'd left home than he'd ever been in his life. Fortunately, nothing bad had happened yet as a result of his occasionally friendly persona. Once he'd gotten close enough to not have to shout to be heard, he spoke normally.
"So, what brings you out here? Do you live around here?" he asked casually. In the time that it had taken him to stalk the gazelle out here, he hadn't seen so much as a rogue cub romping by. Ima wondered where she had come from and if there was anyone else around, though he doubted it.
Looking at her curiously, he wondered about the way she responded to him, but didn't mention it.

Nope, that didn't help. If anything the male was getting closer. To be fair, he wasn't that fluffy, yet, and he hadn't exactly snuck up on her, Theluji just hadn't been paying attention. Again. Shabnam would not like to call her a friend and her swampie pride wouldn't like to have an returned pilgrim that wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. She really needed to stop spacing out like that. Obviously there were evil fluffies around that intended evilness and not-so fluffy males around that intended ..... She didn't know what this own intended, but still! Pay attention, she who was Theluji! she thought at herself. It didn't have the same ring of sternness that it should have, but then how could it when she hadn't found her name yet.
This less fluffy male didn't seem ascreepy as the last fluffy male that snuck up on her. And that one had snuck up on her! Theluji made sure she had a clear path to run and escape just in case. "I'm looking for my name." Theluji answered after some hesitation. There was no real harm in that truth. She did need her name and then she could go home.

Looking, behind him, he tried to see if there was someone behind them that was making her nervous. However, the only thing that he saw were the endless trees and grasslands.
Staring at it, he realized how far from home he was and started to feel a little sick. He could honestly say that he was further from home and his family than he had ever been in his life. He didn't even know where his brothers were. The thought made him shudder, but he pushed the feeling aside.
Ima tilted his head to the side in curiosity at the the young lioness before him. "Your name? You mean you don't have one?" he asked incredulously. Did parents not name their cubs when they were born where she was from? Everyone that he knew had a name. So, why didn't she?
"Where do you find a name?"

Was she really this desperate? This lonely? Despite the scare and horrible fluffy male that had forced her to run away? That had been a ... a terrifying experience?
Yes, yes she was. Obviously, because she wasn't running like a wise lioness would have after the experience she'd just had. Resigning herself to the consequences of her actions, or lack thereof, Theluji let out a little sigh, took a small step back just to make sure that she could run if need be. "Not anymore. I don't have one anymore. And I don't know where to find a name, that's why I'm looking."
Theluji looked around for other males, or females, or anyone really. "What about you? Why are you out here?"

Ima stared at her, listening with rapt attention. "Not anymore?," he repeated, the concept totally foreign to him. "Well, I hope you find a new name, I can't imagine what its like to not have a name."
At Theluji's question, he replied, "In my pride, boys must leave the pride once they reach adolescence to wander the roguelands," he said with pride, continuing with, "We must find mates to bring back home with us so that we can start our own families. We must do this to be considered adults. I left home with my brothers when it was our turn."
Looking off for a moment, he thought about what would happen when he did manage to find a banu to accompany him home. Well, he wouldn't worry about that now, he'd enjoy this feeling of careless freedom while he was void of adult responsibilities.
Observing her reactions to him, he began to wonder if it was him that was making the other fidgit so. So, he asked, "Um..., am I bothering you?"

His attention was - nice, but it concerned her. Not surprisingly. "I need to find my name otherwise I won't be able to return home to my own pride. Without a name I can't go back home, so it is quite lonely without a name." Theluji eyed the male and continued hesitantly, "My old name, my baby name was Theluji." Obviously, her new adult name wasn't going to have anything to do with wisdom, thoughts, or being smart.
Theluji frowned at the males explanation. "Only the boys? So only males are considered adults?" She asked in confusion. "So ... how do you make babies if you don't let females become adults? Wouldn't that be kind of ..... like *****? Adults making babies with those still considered children?" Maybe females became adults in other ways in his pride?
Squirming at the question, and the fact that it pointed out how rude she must have been behaving, and still was, Theluji blushed and looked away. She refused to look at the lion as she muttered her explanation. "I just escaped from an - an attack by a big fluffy male lion that claimed he was a demon possessed. He, he was terrifying. And mean."

"Oh, I think I get it," he said simply in respond to her explanation. With a slightly better understanding of the "name thing", it sounded like it was their own form of reaching adulthood. In that case, the young lioness before him was here for essentially the same reasons as he.
At her questions, Ima laughed out loud. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh, it just sounds strange," he began. "Where I'm from, males and females have different methods of reaching adulthood. It is generally believed that the roguelands are dangerous, a task that should be taken on by males. With females, they are considered adults after they leave the home that they grew up in and move to a den with her mate."
Having never thought about females not actually having a coming of age, he found it difficult to find the right way of explaining his pride's ways. At first, he had found it hard to believe that Theluji had been sent out on her own from her pride. "In my pride, females aren't allowed out into the roguelands," he paused, chuckling a bit," Since you're here, maybe females aren't so weak afterall."
The thought was completely new to him, and contrary to everything that he'd been taught. Ima had always believed that banu where more important than how they were generally treated, but Theluji gave him a whole new insight on their abilities.
Surprised at hearing that she'd bee attacked, he understood a little more why she had been acting the way that she was. With a thoughful expression, he bid her farewell, "I'm sorry you were attacked, you should beat him up next time. It was nice meeting you Thelu-- uh, and good luck on your quest."
Turning, he looked back at her once more, before heading out with a slightly altered view on life as he knew it.
