As far as Eunomia knew, this was going to be a normal patrol. Walk around, dust a youma if it appears, sneak back indoors before someone notices she's gone.
It wasn't a new and weird thing anymore, and she was starting to liken it to just taking a nice walk a night. Maybe that was a comfort zone she shouldn't allow herself to be lulled in, since she still hadn't faced off with anything especially dangerous on Destiny City streets, but the fact that she shouldn't didn't change that she did.
And for now it was kind of nice. As long as she didn't think about it too hard. There was still a lot of things she could ask about the entire concept of senshi if she scratched the barrier, but she tried to keep it shallow out of fear they'd never get anything done ever if she spent all her time questioning every little aspect of what they were doing.
"So I guess we just go around the same route as last time and dust anything that shows up?" She asked, mostly just for the sake of saying something. If restless mouth syndrome was a thing, Eunomia probably suffered from it.

There was a cat perched on the girl's shoulder, leaning her fuzzy face nearly against Eunomia's ear. It made conversation all the easier, since it meant that the girl would only hear her if they happened to come across any civilians.
Of course, this wasn't the case. In fact, this evening was just drastically dull. It was as if this particular evening all youma and Negaverse agents had taken the evening off. She couldn't sense any sort of negative auras at all. She idly mentioned into the senshi's ear "Hmmm... I don't think anything is going to be showing up to get dusted this evening..."
It was odd, but it didn't mean that there weren't things to do. "Hmmm... could you pull out your senshi phone... I think I have an idea as to what we can do tonight... well, as long as you have time that is."

"Yeeeah," Eunomia agreed, but it wasn't entirely a negative yeah. She was glad for any lulls in her schedule, even if they were a bit boring.
********* managed to intrigue her when she asked about the cellphone, though, and without a word Eunomia produced the gadget and tilted it towards the cat on her shoulder.
"What are we going to do? Get me unlimited free texting?"

The feline giggled in that manner she was known for at the joke. "Oh goodness... your texting will never be free, because you have to give me food. All the food at the bakery forever!" She wasn't serious, though she did rather enjoy abusing Eunomia's place of employment for free snacks. It had easily been added to her list of places to visit daily.
With that bit of joking out of the way, ********* began to give instructions. "You see that center button there? I want you to hold your finger over it for now. Don't press it right now, because it won't do anything yet."
There was a pause.
"Okay... I want you to close your eyes and try to clear your mind. I want you to try to listen for the sound of Eunomia, the asteroid. It will require some patience, but once you hear that sound... something you know is distinctly Eunomia, then please press that button." The feline seemed to settle into her place on the girl's shoulder.
"I'll be here if you need me!"

Eunomia rolled her eyes at ********* joke, but the expression wasn't without half a smile. ********* visits at her workplace weren't bad, but she flip flopped on how she felt about sneaking her snacks.
And then ********* started talking about an asteroid, an actual one in space, and Eunomia almost choked on her own breath. Obviously she had googled the s**t out of all their names shortly after accepting the senshi mantle, but so far she had assumed it was all just a cheeseball naming theme.
Only a crazy person would just accept the fact that it had something to do with objects in space. But then again, one probably had to be a little off to go fight monsters in a miniskirt in the first place.
But it was still pretty baffling. So baffling it was like all the thoughts and questions kind of clogged up somewhere up the pipeline and didn't make it in time to cause much hesitation to do what ********* had told her to. 'Something you know is distinctly Eunomia' was a tough thing to go by, and it took a few minutes, but she touched on it. Something she just knew. So with a sharply drawn breath, Eunomia hit the center button and off they went.
The smells and atmosphere of Destiny City were all gone, replaced with crisp, cold mountain air and the distinct feeling they were at an extremely high altitude. And they were. Eunomia opened her eyes to find herself standing on a ledge jutting out about nine feet from a volcanic cliff with an enormous drop just inches from her toes.
Eunomia had never been especially afraid of heights, but this was too extreme, and the fact it was a surprise didn't help at all. Almost instinctively, she grabbed ********* off her shoulder and clutched her tight to her chest as she screamed and skittered as far back as she could. Suddenly nine feet seemed like such a pitiful length. "We're on a cliff!" She shrieked to the poor cat she was squishing, eyes locked on the edge rather than the very easily reached mezzanine above their heads. Honestly she hadn't really noticed it yet. "Why are we on a cliff?!" More shrieking, with the beginnings of some panicked hyperventilating for flavor.

********* was settled in upon the girl's shoulder, patiently waiting for their journey to begin. It was not the first time she'd be traveling, nor would it be the last time she'd be traveling. However, once they had made that jump from Earth to Eunomia's asteroid, the manx couldn't help but let out a small "Goodness..."
The spot in which they appeared was not the most ideal of places, yet that would be the starting point each time that they visited.
A fact that ********* was not getting a chance to mention. The moment Eunomia opened her eyes, the cat was moved from the shoulder to her chest in a tight grip. And the screaming. OH GOODNESS the screaming. The tailless cat's ears were pinned back for a good long while as the noise screeched on and on, with her voice echoing off of what she assumed were the walls of this geological structure.
Despite how panicked the girl was, ********* voice remained calm as she eventually began to try to sooth the senshi's nerves. "I suspect we are on a cliff because the world of Eunomia has cliffs. Perhaps not the most ideal of starting places... but I suspect you might want to get used to it. That's where you will be starting any time you visit from this point forward."
She chuckled despite how her ears were still flat against her skull. "So Iris gets a desert and you get a cliff? It's quite intriguing!"

Every. Time.
Eunomia wasn't sure whose bright idea this was but it didn't sound like a good one. What if the ledge collapsed?! Except, if she had her wits about her, she might've noticed that it wasn't a natural ledge, but rather one in a series of very deliberately carved steps that curved around the body of the mountain, and this was the very last one. At least, undamaged one, but it still wasn't a hard climb to the landing just above her head where she was cowering.
"Why can't I have a desert?" She whined after the whole screeching in utter terror thing stopped. Iris had all the fun.
It didn't take long after the screeching in utter terror thing stopped for her to realize that just about level with her head as a huge, flat landing, and figured that would be less horrifying to hang out on. So she released ********* from her death grip and negotiated her way up. Slowly, because the icy rock and heeled boots at extreme heights didn't go well in her mind.
What was waiting for them was a huge, flat expanse of rock with subdued colors polished, stained, and inlaid into it to create what Eunomia could only describe as a work of art, all leading to a pair of doors in the mountainside that were equally decorated and intimidating in height.
"Holy crap," She squeaked out as she tried to regain her voice. "This is all mine?" She asked dumbly as she got on her knees to brush away clinging frost and snow powder to see the patterns better in the mezzanine. She had no idea what the art was supposed to be, but it was still pretty to look at with it's various interweaving detailed and colors of differently stained stones.

********* had to take a HUGE breath by the time she was finally set back on the senshi's shoulder. Goodness, that girl had a death grip like NO OTHER. "I am not certain that Iris enjoys being dumped in the middle of a desert every time she visits, literally with no shelter of any sort for miles. However, to each their own, yes?" With a subtle chuckle, she quieted down while Eunomia worked on getting to a new location. The last thing the girl probably needed were reminders from a manx that she needed to be careful, yes?
Once the pair were at their new destination, the cat remained quite quiet for a bit. Everything looked familiar to her, as if it was something she had seen thousands of times in another lifetime. It wasn't like remembering any sort of definite event that had a solid feel to the whole thing. No, it was a gentle sensation, a sort of warm feeling in the depths of her chest that just knew she had been here before. And that she knew the girl she was perched on in another lifetime.
The moment that Eunomia spoke again, that feeling in her chest seemed to dissipate, leaving ********* as her usual self again. "I believe it is... unless there are others living here after a thousand years..."

"Whoa, wait, a thousand years?" Logic started sinking in. "So... wait. We're on an asteroid... in space, and there are buil--... cave... things, here. And there have been all this time?"
Eunomia suddenly took in several deep breaths like she'd suddenly run out of air.
"Okay, there's a lot more to the 'Eunomia' thing than just the miniskirt, isn't there?" Something she tried not to think about too much given the reality warping qualities, but the fact that they were standing on a space mountain that her cellphone teleported her to was a little much. And not your standard superhero hallucination fare.

"BREATHE!" the cat reminded the senshi in a less than subtle manner. Hyperventilating was not exactly going to fix anything, nor would it bring back all of the deceased Eunomians. Only once the girl's breathing seemed to calm down slightly did the manx offer more explanations.
"Yes, there is a lot more... however... even I don't know how much there is to everything. All senshi are named for celestial objects... my girls are all named for their own respective asteroids."
She paused and sat herself up as tall as she was able to on the dark haired girl's shoulder. Lifting up a paw, she pointed to the senshi herself. "I know for a fact that back then... I knew you... and that I knew Iris too. The others... well... I'm not certain yet... but I'd like to think I probably knew them too."
There was a nagging feeling in the back of ********* mind that this girl might eventually buck her on accident by starting to flail over all of this information. Paying attention to such a feeling, the manx settled herself down against the shoulder again. Better safe than sorry at this point.
"This asteroid was your home back then..."

"But how are we breathing?!" Eunomia was suffering from a massive internal meltdown trying to reconcile all the mysticism and magic with what she knew. Or at least thought she knew.
"Back then? So I'm like... Eunomia reincarnated or something?" And then she stopped and glanced around them at the top of the peak further up past the tops of the doors and the other mountains and cliffs poking through a wintery fog, having flopped back to sit on her butt and hold her ankles to do so. "And... we're all reincarnated..." It wasn't so much a statement of fact as her vocally trying to process everything, including the fact that the entire basic concept of being a senshi just became far more serious and deep than she had previously thought it could be in her mind.
"How did... I mean, why now? Have there just been secret senshi all this time?" That was her first question, but it wasn't long until her mind wandered to the hidden world beneath the stone they were sitting on. If everyone who lived here was dead, how did they die? But she didn't dare ask that one out loud. She was dealing with enough without the lives of an entire asteroid's worth of people on her mind.
She mustered up the bravery to adventure over to those massive doors, but she was looking at a large, decaying rope that hung out of the stone on either side, wondering how anyone ever opened these things.

Eunomia was always full of questions. She was inquisitive, but only the sort that asked questions when everything they believed in before seemed to be wrong. "...Sadly, I don't think I can answer the how on the breathing matter." ********* was not a super genius who could translate things into science gibberish. "However... the fact is you can, so you should, Eunomia."
She chuckled for a brief moment or two before quieting down to listen to the senshi piece things together. "Yuuuuuup... your starseed now is the one that you had back then. Not 100% the same person, but your soul was essentially the same." There was a pause. "Sometimes if you listen, your home world is willing to share its secrets with you." She winked, though the gesture might not have been noticed, then addressed one of her later questions.
"...Nope, there weren't secret senshi, at least... not that I know of. However, I know that senshi appear only when they are needed. If the world, galaxy, or universe is in trouble, then the senshi will arise." Eunomia would soon enough feel the scratchy tongue of the cat giving her a kiss on the cheek. "So why now? Because you are needed."

Eunomia's eyes were tracing along the carved grooves into the stone when she felt ********* tongue, which was met with some superficial 'ew' followed by a short laugh and a vigorous ear scratching.
She took the listen to your homeworld advice to heart and took a few, zombie like paces as her attention went elsewhere. It was the scenery carved into the door that captured her attention. A stylized relief that depicted a fur clad warrior in eternal conflict with a large, canine like creature. Further staring revealed a sort of alien lettering formed by the same continuous lines that would go up to form the body and patterns that created the person and as interesting as the visual puzzle was, Eunomia's eyeline was suddenly overtaken by a barely noticeable groove.
It wasn't decorative, actually the opposite. It was meant to be hidden by all the images. It was a thing with purpose that ran up the crease where the two large, stone slabs met in the middle and all the way up from top to bottom. It meant something. And it was suddenly killing her not to know. She found herself fixating on it enough that this 'homeworld listening' would supply a divine revelation, no such thing happened.
Instead, rather than any solid memory, she felt a wave of grief and fear wash over her and her chest became increasingly tight with stress in seconds. She fumbled frantically for her cellphone to get it in her hands and opened. "What button do I push to go home?" She blurted, suddenly feeling anxious and panicky for reasons unknown, and she didn't care to spend one more second on this death trap wondering why.

********* liked ear scratches and rather easily leaned into the sensation, purring slightly to let her girl know that she approved.
As Eunomia took her time looking over the patterns, ********* couldn't help but comment "...at least there are some signs of civilization here... past civilization, but still, civilization... I know Iris' world was civilized as well, but where she keeps getting dumped off, there's pretty much no signs. It's kinda nice seeing signs of some cultu..."
It was about this time that the senshi began to almost jerk out her phone, fingers fumbling to open it up and push buttons. The feline sighed lightly, nodding her head as if she understood what the girl was doing.
"...you push the same button as you did to get here... it's easier to concentrate on the Earth's voice... it's still quite alive." The manx stretched herself up tall so she could rub her cheek against the girl's as she gave the door a good looking over again. There was a story there, and sadly, the Manx would not remember it. However, if it wasn't her place to remember it, then so be it.
"...whenever you are ready, Eunomia!"

It's not uncommon for a human being to sense something is amiss in their surroundings, but when Eunomia had attempted to focus on her homeworld and got the same feeling, however mild, it was monstrously exacerbated by the fact she simply didn't know why or could reconcile it in her mind. It was a clear case of her own brain over thinking, over feeling, and not comprehending until it wound her up into a strange form of panic attack.
But in the end, she had grabbed her senshi phone and focused on the sweet familiarity of Earth to get the ******** out of there.
When she opened her eyes to the street they'd just come from, she relaxed instantly and grabbed ********* like a stuffed toy for comfort. "I don't HAVE to go there, right?" She said in a very firm tone hinting she'd already decided she wasn't going to be a frequent flyer and wasn't going to be convinced otherwise.
At least not tonight.
