Fell gave her arms a stretch and approached the meter. There was a small smile on her lips as she pulled on her gloves and tossed her hood back and hey? Was she was looking a little more confident than she did earlier? Yes~ Yes she was! After all, it was just hitting something. They did that all the time! This time would be no different, she was sure of it.
"So all we have to do is hit this thing and we pass, huh?" She asked, looking down at the soul eater who came up beside her, his expression grim. Then again, it was always grim.
:Yesss. Hit it and prove to them you are not asss worthlesss as you look.: He hissed, eyes flicking up at her, before they returned to the target; missing her rude gesture altogether.
"Well, the point of it is to make sure the school stays open. I don't think they'd care if I'm worthless or not..." Her words trailed off, her expression irate. "I can't believe I just said that..."
She waved it off.
She knew by now that Kingsbane would not be a kindly companion like some of the other reapers had. Oh no, she was well aware that he was a crotchety piece of work and it didn't matter. She didn't need a friend. She needed a partner. Someone who had skill, battle experience, and Kingsbane was exactly that. He could help her... Mentor her. Teach her things her family of reapers never could! Mind you, thanks to her crap skills, his own strength had been greatly reduced. It was kind of disappointing really... He was so strong when she first met him. Perhaps that was why he was so grumpy towards her? In a way, she was holding him back and often making him look bad.
Well tough!
He accepted the offer, knowing the risk. She was even doing him a favor, letting him feed off of her Fear like he was ( the little leech! )! He didn't have to risk his life to hunt anymore. He should be grateful of her!
Wishful thinking, but oh well.
"Okay then~" She gave the soul eater an affectionate pat on the head, forgiving him of his earlier comment, before she pulled her fingers away, faster than he could take them off. "You ready partner?" She asked, fixating on the meter again.
:You only have one ssshot at thisss! Make it count!: And with that he dissipated into a black cloud, flecked with green specks of light.
The cloud hung in the air momentarily as the Fear particles gathered together into one giant dark mass. Shifting and changing shape before it shot out in all directions and surrounded the grim reaper and consumed her.
Such an odd feeling, possession. She could feel King's presence slowly taking over her body; controlling every muscle, every thought, as he gradually forced everything into pitch black darkness...
Which was followed by a white hot rage!
With a yell, she lunged at the meter, striking at it repeatedly with her fists.
Her fist connecting with the object repeatedly and for once, she was thankful that Mei wasn't around to see her. She wasn't fond of this Fear, for reasons that were quite obvious. She stopped being herself. She allowed someone else to take control of her, or rather, it was more like, the two of them were fighting for control, which resulted in... this. This blind rage that not even she could see past.
One more strike and the darkness finally lifted. The Fear particles leaving her body and slowly reforming into a familiar mass beside her, leaving her body sore and her head spinning, but it was worth it! Even though she couldn't see it, she knew she had hit the meter!
She had done it! She succeeded in her exam!
:Congratulationsss, you hit it. Perhapsss next time you'll be able to hit it with more force behind each punch...:
Oh that was just like him! Never a compliment, unless it was backhanded!
"Hey, I'm just glad we hit it!" She grinned, putting her arms up behind her head, as she grinned down at the soul eater.
:If you are sssatisssfied with only that, than I fear for your future.: He rumbled, his expression turning from plain grumpy, to that silent, serious, anger that he was so good at displaying.
"It doesn't mean I'm just going to quit right there, geez! Have a little faith in me would yah!" She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted.
:Than give me a reassson to put faith in you.: He countered.
She had no reply to that, nor did she even want to try and think of one. He was still going to treat her as an incompetent child, regardless of what she said or did. There was no point in trying to argue against him, not now. Instead she leaned on him; using him for physical support, which she knew would just piss him off.
:Remove yourssself from me, you lazy brat!: He snarled, attempting to forcefully move out from underneath her, but found he was unable to once she draped her arms over him.
"Nahh its all good, I'm comfy here."
