It had been a little While since Kaliska had returned to the Yectenehua Territories.

While the petite young Mare, blossomed into adulthood but still in many ways just a youth, felt welcome in the home Cuauhcoatl provided for her and other soquili with good hearts but questionable ancestry, she had never gotten out of her habit of wandering off on her own for weeks to months at a time. Having spent most of her life alone, as much as she craved company and acceptance, staying in one spot just wasn't comfortable to her any more, nor were large groups.

However, instead of going straight into the heart of the territory, the dusky-colored mare kept to the fringes, heading towards the private little glen in the forest , where she had discovered a cool mountain spring fed brook that babbled merrily, down a small waterfall and a few lazy cascades. The cold water in the pool was refreshing to bathe in and the cleanest to drink.

She smiled slightly, lost in the memory of the waterfall against her back, that she didn't really notice that her secret spot was occupied until she was almost to the stream, snapping into attention as she realized her usual basking spot was taken by one of the Amachi Family's youngest set of children, though it was obvious he was grown up.

Realizing the longer she stood there, the more likely it was he was going to notice her, Kaliska pondered whether she should leave, or stay. After a moment, she had her answer, "Good morning, Allegro..."

She was going to have that wash, whether he was there or not, but there was no need to be rude about it.

User ImageHe had found the most delightful sound, or at least the most delightful sound of the day however it was not uncommon for the youthful stallion to easily get sidetracked by various noises as the days went by. Today discovery was a simplistic melodies of water bubbling over rocks and intermingling with various tones of trinkling notes and soft undercurrents of deeper basses. It was in his own opinion one of the most beautiful compositions he had ever heard and despite Allegro's somewhat envious heart of nature's graceful talents he remained lingering on every note composing in his own head a composition that could compare.

If anyone had watched the rather still, unkept stallion's apperance they would have noted his expression changed from knotted brows and disapproving frown to a rather pleasing grin and then back again as if stuck in some sort of viscious circle. Every so often a hum would escape matching the various tones of the water before fading off into silence yet no words were said until piercing voice of a mare spoke as if abruptedly ending the song.

Before he opened his eyes Allegro nodded, "Good morning to you too Kaliska, what brings you here?" Shaking the his long dawn-colored bangs out of his face as he opened his eye to look at her he gave the familiar mare a bit of a smirking grin, " Long time no see if I can remember right, so what sort of trouble have you've been up too?"

The mare chuckled softly, moving past Allegro and walking slowly into the cool water of the pool below the small waterfall stream, "Oh, this and that."

She sighed softly as she slid under the waterfall, kneeling in the shallow water facing Allegro, altering the sound of the waterfall slightly, giving it a more energized tone as it hissed across her shoulders, Kaliska's voice still teasing and clearly making things up, "Flew on one of those plumed serpents Cuauhcoatl speaks of in some of his stories and ate maple sugar on the clouds with one the color of night." She paused, feeling a slight pang -- she missed her friend Nocturne, and the sting of the rejection she had received years ago from his grandfather before she found Cuauhcoatl near the end of her third year still hurt.

However the sting didn't show on her usual serene expression.

She rarely let any emotion show at any time, most of her meaning shown in her voice. She rarely laughed more than a chuckle, smiles were precious rays of light, however anger and sadness came just as rarely. Instead she lived her life simply being approachable and warm, but rarely letting anyone close or privy to her thoughts.

"I came here since this is my usual thinking place" She said finally after the long pause, eyes closing as she relaxed under the falls -- while the water of the spring fed pool was cool, the water of the fall was sunwarmed, leaving a pleasant sensation that soothed muscles while still keeping her dark coat cooled, "I always stop here before returning to the herd."

She cracked an eye open to meet the sky blue stallions, her voice playfully teasing once more to show she wasn't upset, "So the question is what brings you here to my pool?"

For the most part, he kept his eyes close listening to her voice as she slid under the waterfall the soft changes of the water parting and hitting the waves in the pool caused by her walking. Even the more energetic tones of the water surrounding her shoulders as they bounced off few colliding back into the flow of water. He listened to each word she spoke the syllabus of when she spoke of the plumed serpents and the clouds and the color of night. She a rather sweet voice not that most mares didn’t, even those that had a rather darker undertones or an edge of huskiness to them. He didn’t open his eyes until the long pause without her words seemed almost too long to be a song.

Allegro peered at her from his glasses, she was fuzzy with the droplets of water clinging to the glass almost as if there was more of her there. So this place had been there for a while, he wondered why he had not seen it before. Not to say that the was surprise he had yet to see most things across the pride lands though one day he had hoped he would. No it was not hope he would eventually, not that he had plans to leave his family just the idea of traveling here and there and coming back to them.

“Well I am glad I am not interrupting your thinking, I wouldn’t want to ruin your rituals of coming home now would I?” He replied grinning at her as he shook his head trying to shake the water from his lens.

“As for my being here it was for this delightful song I was hearing, following the singing tunes of flowing water greeting a cheerful pool below the usual distraction of my day.”

"A song?" Kaliska tipped her head upwards a little to dip her head into the running water before shaking her mane slightly as she lowered her head once more from the water, ears flicking as she attempted to attempt to hear whatever it was he spoke of. Listening carefully, at first she heard nothing but the roar of the water splashing about her back, her brow furrowing ever so slightly, What could he mean by a song? she pondered silently.

She never seemed to fully grasp what the Amachi members were up to -- Farruca was always either dancing or sleeping, the mare not even letting her running leave a rhythmic pattern or pronking about like a springbok, often dancing and rearing up in a frenzy of energy while her bonded songbird sang chiming little tunes to the accompaniment of the band or raccoons that have turned the herd into their base camp, while Mezzo was always off hauling bags of goods and talking about girls he encountered, flirting with any girl he meets whether they fit his usual aesthetic attraction demands or not. Heck, one of the members willingly stayed captive in an Amazonian Hippogryph Flock that was given a rather simpleton sounding name of "The Flock". Over all the entire family seemed peculiar, but overall they seemed harmless, if noisy. And not nearly as odd as the family she had sort of known before; at least they weren't pulling pranks with poison ivy or stealing things for the sake of inciting a game of chaise like Praetoria, or making themselves sick by eating too much meat due to being completely herbivorous and talking in crazed riddles with a manic expression like Tulgey. Last she had seen "puss", he was a little more settled -- still quite mad, but a little more lucid, fawning over an equally mad but harmless mare named Alice.

Allegro's claiming to hear music made just about as much sense to her in some ways as the the other Amachi. Unable to figure out what he was talking about, hearing little more than the white noise of the water falling, she opened her eyes with a somewhat confused expression, "I'm... Apparently having a difficult time picking it out. What exactly am I listening for?"

She then closed her eyes again, hoping to catch the music. The breeze blew softly, causing reeds to bump against each other and rustle more than usual, and some began to whistle in low eerie tones, their stalks broken to expose the hallow hearts that allowed that species of reed to be turned into panpipes. A frog, who had fallen silent with her intrusion, finally relaxed and began to chirp and croak. The sound of bird calls came in over the sound of the water, and as her ears adjusted, her mind no longer full of thoughts about how odd it was, she could hear the melodic trickling of water over the rocks. Red-wing blackbirds trilled as they defended their territory.

Her breath hitched in her throat slightly, and she opened her eyes, looking around in confusion. It was obvious from her expression she had caught what Allegro was talking about, but had no idea how she missed it in the first place, "...It.. It is rather lovely here."
